Letter to plato Yandex. Plato Schukin - who is he? The rules of good manners when communicating with Plato

In the name of Plato Schukin  The Russian search engine Yandex subscribes in technical support letters addressed to Internet users. This is a pseudonym that Yandex technical support staff uses when communicating with users; it is, under the messages of technical support from users, “With respect to you, Platon Schukin.”

Why is the name of Plato Schukin chosen?

Why is the name of Plato Schukin taken by a pseudonym? There is no clear answer to this question. In one interview, it was as if Plato himself said that only Platon Schukins are working in the Yandex technical support service on the passport. But it sounds somehow funny, with humor. Yandex employees will not reveal this secret. And this is correct from a marketing point of view. Intrigue fuels interest in Yandex, it attracts users to the search engine.

To whom Plato writes

According to statistics, Plato, in Yandex technical support, is written by webmasters who have difficulties for some reason in their relations with the search engine. When searching for information, users don’t write technical support letters. If the user has any difficulty or a useful suggestion is born to improve Yandex, then Plato responds politely and respectfully about receiving the signal.

Is human or robot Plato?

Plato usually conducts extensive correspondence with webmasters. Users find out the reasons for the failure of indexing the site and other problems with the Internet. Optimizers spend significant amounts of money on content and search engine promotion sites, so they require a quick response. Is he a man or a robot? Some in disputes say that a person cannot process such a number of requests, which means that Plato is a robot. Others argue that the robot cannot write like that. Of course, the header of the message with company farewell is embedded in the form, and the person writes the text. At first the robot simply sends the webmaster standard messages “for violations your site is banned”. If the webmaster tries to pull the site out of the ban, constantly improves the resource, then the real person begins to respond.

Here is an example of Plato’s answer to a webmaster. Webmasters Poetic Header:

Thousands of pages are constantly being destroyed by locusts.

Schukin’s answer is also lyrical:

Hello webmaster! Employees of the entire department monitor the condition of your garden. Take care of your garden, following the recommendations of experienced agronomists, try to develop unique varieties of plants in it, make the garden even more beautiful, more convenient for visiting, and the locust will no longer threaten it.

At the end of the famous signature. Can such a robot write?

The staff is increasing

The Internet is developing so fast that the number of webmasters is growing even more, and it has become difficult for all Plato to respond.

Yandex received an assistant in the state of Leroux Straz. If the request concerns a serious failure, Plato answers, but Lera also communicates with webmasters. And she does it well!

Psychological nuance

By creating the image of Plato Schukin, the quality of the Runet is improved, since users associate it with a living person.

Claims of the search engine to the sites relate to the fraud of ordinary users. Yandex punishes mercilessly such resources, but still gives a chance to improve. Now imagine what mood the webmaster will begin to correct the shortcomings of his site, if something faceless will communicate with him. There will be no enthusiasm. And when the user communicates with a living person, it will cause a positive mood to improve his site. Thus, sites will improve one after another, you will look, and the entire Internet will gradually become useful and pleasant for users to communicate with using an inconspicuous specialist - Plato Schukin.

If you still don’t know who Plato Schukin  and how it relates to Yandex:

Plato Schukin is a fictional character on behalf of whom Yandex technical support correspondents.

Many newcomers, as well as seasoned webmasters sometimes ask questions: “ How to write Yandex technical support?". Probably each of us, at least once, asked Plato a question on his site.

Why did this question arise at all?

The thing is that Yandex technical support receives a huge number of questions every day, and many of them are just about anything. It’s clear that dealing with such a blockage is very difficult, because Yandex’s resources are very limited, at least by the number of technical support employees. Therefore, Yandex found a solution on how to filter most of the requests.

How was it filtered?

It's simple, they stuffed the feedback form into J. himself. That is why questions arise on the forums, they say, how to write in Yandex.

So how to write technical support?

If you nevertheless decided to write Yandex technical support (webmaster), and did not find the answer to your question elsewhere, follow the instructions below.

Step 1.  We go to Yandex Webmaster and select the site on which we want to ask a question:

Step 2At the very bottom (to the right) you will find the link “ Feedback»:

Step 3  Again we are faced with the so-called screening of users. Instead of request form, you are offered to get acquainted with ready-made answers. From the whole list, select " Site indexing»:

then " The site is poorly indexed", Further " The site is completely gone from the search"And finally the final click, select" The reasons for excluding the site from the search are unknown.»:

After all these perversions, the long-awaited feedback form appears with Yandex technical support (or rather, the link at first):

If you are currently reading our post, then most likely you are a webmaster who is somehow related to promoting your site in the Yandex search engine. It is for you that we have prepared this information.

Most beginners, when creating a site or promoting it, have many difficulties and questions, yes ... there are those who run to various forums in search of a solution, and there are those who try to contact the so-called Platon Schukin. At first glance, there is nothing complicated about this, but to ask your question, you need to try hard to find a form for sending messages. In this article, you will learn how to correctly write Yandex technical support. But for this, the conditions about which we will describe below must be met.

How to contact Yandex technical support correctly

Conditions without which you will not be able to make an appeal:

  1. You must have a website
  2. You must have access to the webmaster service
  3. You must log in on the main page
  4. You must make up the question correctly

Well, everything is clear with this, but where is the coveted button?

1.   We go to Yandex webmaster, at the very bottom click on the link "Feedback", or click on the link. A new page will open, with a welcome message and a list of questions. Choose the one that interests you.

2.   Suppose you notice that the position of your site has fallen by more than 30 points, in this case, you need to select the "Site Ranking" option.

3.   We click on the link that relates most to your question. A new page will open, which will contain possible reasons for the decline in position. If you think that the information presented did not prove to be useful to you, at the very bottom, check the box " The reasons for the decline were not clear»

5.   It is suggested that you check the webmaster for errors and warnings. If everything is all right with you, then indicate that " No violations found on the site«.

How to fill out a support form for Plato Schukin

  • We select the address of our site on which there are problems
  • In the line "Site Region" indicate the country in which the position check took place
  • Fill in the sample request correctly
  • What position did the request BEFORE / AFTER
  • Message. Correctly formulate your question, so that technical support staff can quickly establish the reasons, and give you an answer. ( Example No. 1: Hello! after 12.01.2017 the positions of my site fell by 30 points, before that they occupied the Top 5, please indicate the reasons . Example No. 2: Site.ru was created 01.01.2017, tell me if this domain was under the filter AGS? ) etc.
  • Name and email address. Then press the "Submit" button. Within 7 business days, you will be answered. In my case, they answered the same day.

In the last interview with Mikhail Slivinsky we answered a number of your questions, but in reality the range of questions turned out to be a little wider, so today we are here in the same composition.

Plato:  Michael, glad to welcome you again!

Mikhail Slivinsky:  Thanks, let's get started?

P:  Go. Question one: I bought a domain, I haven’t filled it yet, but I added it to Yandex.Webmaster, and there I got a message about Dorothea, low-useful content and other violations. Did I do something or the previous owner? What to do to remove restrictions?

M.S .:  Yes, this really happens when the previous owner used deceptive techniques to promote, and for this, restrictions came to the site. Then the site was deleted and sold to a new owner. “So the site is empty,” you say, or “it is completely closed from indexing, why the restrictions have not been lifted”! Everything is simple here - search robots cannot get access to the content of the site, which is inaccessible for indexing or deleted at all, respectively, they cannot evaluate its current state, therefore, violations do not go anywhere. If you do not plan to follow the example of your predecessor and go the honest way in advancement, you will fill the site with useful, unique content, do not rush to buy a new domain. Limitations from it in the process of automatic verification by algorithms can be removed.

P: My site is 67 years old, the same time nothing (or almost nothing) has changed on it, while it always had a good position in the search, and today a message has arrived about violations. What changed?

M.S .:  This can also be. And this is not your merit, but our omission. And it can also be because the world is changing, the Internet is changing, and, accordingly, the requirements for sites can also change.

P:  I made changes to the site / fixed violations, how and when will Yandex know about it?

M.S .:  Our algorithms constantly check sites. Changes to them are tracked fairly quickly, but new data is processed and a decision can be made to remove restrictions in the region of 2 weeks (but sometimes more, depending on the type of violation).

P:  A warning appeared in Yandex.Browser and the search results for my site that it could be dangerous. What is the reason for this?

M.S .:  This may be due to the fact that wrappers were detected on the site (
), viruses (), SMS fraud (), phishing, and other types of threats. In this case, it is best to register with Yandex.Webmaster (webmaster.site) and confirm the rights to manage the site (or even several) - there you will see information about a specific violation, and examples of pages on which it was recorded.

P:  Who checks the sites and decides to impose / remove restrictions - tolokers / assessors? Do you check sites manually?

M.S .:  Site checks are carried out by algorithms. Our experts consider each incoming request, but an ordinary person is not able to take into account such a number of factors (and there are hundreds of them) that take into account the algorithms when viewing a site. Also in the aggregate. Therefore, the task of the person here is to train the algorithm, the task of the algorithm is to evaluate the factors and decide whether or not to impose a restriction on the site.

P:  What should I do if I get a low-quality site with useless content and other search spam in the top of the list?

M.S .:  Be sure to write to us about this through a form with a link to this site. Information obtained through this form is used to improve algorithms.

P:  Michael, thank you for the answers!
M.S .:  I was happy to help!

Happy New Year! We hope that next year all your desires will be fulfilled, and sites will successfully grow and develop further.

Now everyone is summing up the results of the year, and so are we. Please take our traditional New Year survey so that we can see if you are satisfied with our work.

If you need help on any issue related to the Webmaster, please contact us immediately.

Thanks and again with the holidays!

They write a lot about regionality, how best to implement it, which regions to assign, etc. Therefore, today I decided to answer your most popular questions.

Which region is best assigned in Webmaster if I have an online store?
If your online store delivers goods throughout Russia, you can assign the "Russia" region in the Yandex.Webmaster interface itself. If the site delivers goods outside of Russia, you can specify the CIS region. We also always recommend adding all branches to, since all regions obtained from the Directory can influence the ranking of the site by geo-dependent requests. Affiliates of the organization are only those offices, shops and pick-up points that have the same name with the head office and belong to the same type of activity. Issuing points of several stores of different brands are not considered affiliates, and adding them to Yandex.Handbook will fail. You can read more about adding and joining a network in Yandex.Directory at.

If the site operates in several cities (for example, there are representative offices in only three cities), then in Yandex.Webmaster you can specify the city in which the main office is located, and add the rest through the Directory.

In any case, search algorithms are able to determine that a site is relevant to a request from a certain region, even if the site does not have this region in the "Regionality" section of Yandex.Webmaster.

How to implement regionality for subdomains?
It makes sense to create regional subdomains or directories only if you plan to fill them with regional content, that is, useful users of the exact region to which they are aimed (for example, to post relevant information about a product / service in this region: rates, availability , shipping costs, etc.). If your site does not have regional content, you do not need to do this: this will lead to duplication of information in the search and possible problems with indexing. In more detail we told

Subdomain or directory - what to choose.
Choose what:

a) Better suited to the structure of your site and not confuse users.
b) You can implement it technically.
If you select a directory, please note that it cannot be assigned a separate region. But if there is regional content, the robot itself can understand which page in which region is better to show.

What should I do if in the "Diagnostics" section there is a recommendation to add a site to Yandex.Directory?
If you added a card to Yandex.Directory and it appeared in your personal account with the status "approved", this does not always mean that the card is published in Yandex.Directory. In order to verify that the card is definitely in the Directory, use the search on the main page (by organization name or site url). If the card is not located, you need to write to.

Also, be sure to check that the card contains the main page of the site (for example, http://example.com) and the site address is specified in the same way as in Yandex.Webmaster - with or without www prefix,
with HTTP or HTTPS.

If your site is informational, but in the "Diagnostics" section there is a recommendation about adding a site to the Directory, specify "there is no region" in the regional settings of the Webmaster. This will make the robot understand that you did not forget to indicate the regionality, but indicated precisely the absence of a region for the site.

How to change regional settings when moving a site?
Whenever you move the site (with a change in the domain name, with a protocol change to https), be sure to make changes to the Yandex.Handbook cards. In the Webmaster, also specify the required region manually.

How to change regionality for non-primary mirrors?
Main mirrors are completely dependent on the main, including the definition of regionality. Therefore, changing regions for non-primary mirrors is possible only after putting up sites.

How to change the region assigned from the Directory?
Regions received from Yandex.Directory are assigned automatically, and as much as possible correspond to the physical location of the organization. Therefore, changing the region to a larger or smaller one will not work.

Is it possible to assign regionality to a general site?
If the site is dedicated to any general topics or is a reference site, you do not need to assign a region to such a site. In the Webmaster, in this case, you can explicitly indicate "No region."

When the algorithms on the site record any violations or security problems, information about this appears as a fatal error in the corresponding section, and with it the button "I fixed everything". It looks like this:

In this post, I will talk about the button’s operation in cases where violations of the search spam have been detected on the site (for example, Baden-Baden, Minusinsk, Dorvey, etc.). If there are problems with the site’s security (for example, if it contains malicious code, wrapper programs, and any other content that may endanger users’s safety), the “I fixed everything” button is also available, but it works differently.

The main purpose of the button in case of search spam detected on the site is to send an additional signal to our algorithms that these violations have been fixed. After clicking, it will become inactive, and the following message will appear near the name of the error:

After the first press, it will be available in a month. Further, in order to avoid abuse of the button, this period will increase, and can reach three months.
If after the next check no violations are found on the site, the restrictions will be removed from it, and the error in the Webmaster will disappear. If the algorithms for the site still have complaints, the error message will be in place.

On average, the verification of corrections made to the site is carried out within two weeks, but it can take both more and less time. Pressing the button does not affect the timing of the test itself.
It is better to send a signal to the algorithms when you are sure that all violations on the site are fixed. If it has already been sent, and you have found something else that can be corrected, feel free to edit it, the algorithms will track it anyway, since they regularly monitor sites, and clicking the button is not a prerequisite for removing restrictions or checking the resource.
But it’s better not to bring the matter to the limit and follow ours :)

Do not be alarmed, nothing fundamentally new has appeared in the work of Baden-Baden - it, as before, has a negative attitude to sites with SEO texts (those written for search engines).
Recall that SEO texts are, as a rule, texts with the keywords and query phrases listed in them. They can be either completely incoherent or completely readable, but it does not play a role - they are written with the aim of influencing the search algorithm and the client does not have any benefits. Below I will give some examples of bad and good texts. Let's look at them:

Example 1

For example, such text is clearly not client-oriented:

To tell about the services provided by your company, you can briefly and clearly:

Example 2

Here the text, although short, is useless and inconvenient to read:

And here everything is clearly laid out in points, without unnecessary information:

Example 3

Here is another example. Going to this site, the client already knows for sure that he needs to buy spices in bulk in Moscow and what they are for. Therefore, there is no benefit from this text. There is no need to write about obvious things, and even abuse keywords.

And here is a site of similar subjects, on which there are no unnecessary words - convenient navigation, the breakdown of products by categories, the ability to use filters:

Example 4

Well, the last example of "evil and good." With such a description, it only becomes clear that you can buy sectional paintings with delivery in Belarus, no more. After the first paragraphs, I don’t want to read further, because the text was written for robots, not people. This evil:

And in the screenshot below - good. Everything is short but at the same time described in detail, no questions arise after reading, the text is easy and convenient for human eyes to perceive.

Sometimes a race for high positions can lead to the opposite effect, so it’s best to focus on the convenience of potential customers when filling the site:

  • Ask your sellers what product questions customers most often ask. Perhaps they are interested in the characteristics, the difference from other models, the presence of colors / sizes, etc. What factors influence the purchasing decision? Perhaps this is a flexible system of discounts, free delivery, the availability of a guarantee.
  • Measure the quality of your content by identifying key metrics (e.g. conversion or adding to cart).
  • Experiment with description formats - you can use not only texts, but also photos, diagrams, videos, and then compare the effectiveness with web analytics.

Look at the site through the eyes of customers: is the information in the descriptions useful? Does it help determine the choice of a product or service? Is it interesting to read? No? Then the text with such information is better to redo or completely remove. And it does not matter how much the text is and how many keywords are in it - the main thing is that it is useful for visitors and helps to solve their problem.

Let me remind you that the snippet for the same page can change. The description meta tag and title tag do not have an unambiguous priority when forming a snippet. Page snippets are formed based on the words of a search query. And this means that fragments of text from the page in which there are words from the user's request are substituted into the snippet.

Let's look at a few typical examples.

1. The service text or e-mail got into the snippet.

A situation is possible when service symbols fall into the snippet (see the example below).

if you enter the site address in the search bar, you can often watch how the e-mail gets into the snippet. This is because the email contains the site address.

In both examples, the snippet looks unattractive. If service characters (e-mail) fall into the snippet, you need to check the page code for such characters (e-mail) and delete them if they are not needed. If the service text (e-mail) is appropriate on the original page, but you don’t need to show it in the snippet, then I recommend that you do not index it using the tag.

2. The page contains several description meta tags.

There may be several description meta tags on a site page. Most often, this option is possible when the page is used.
When forming a snippet, meta description tags ( ) from micro-marking are taken into account. Those. the contents of the meta description tags from the micro-markup is a possible source for text in the snippet.

3. The title and description are updated on the page, but outdated are shown in the search.

If you see outdated title and description in the search, and the title and description on the site page are already updated, then most likely the saved copy of the page is involved in the search for the date when the old title and description were still written on the desired page. You can find out which version of the page is involved in the search using the tool in the service.
After changes have been made to the page, you need to wait a few days until these changes will be taken into account in the search. In addition, I recommend using the tool to speed up the updating of page data in the indexing robot database.

4. The same or similar title and description are registered.

If the contents of the title tag and description meta tag are the same or very similar, then the description from the description meta tag will not be taken into account when forming the page snippet in the search. Our algorithms strive not to show the user identical information in the title and description. Make sure that the title and description do not repeat each other, fill them with diverse and different content from each other.

5. The snippet is formed from Y. Catalog.

As always, you can ask your questions about snippets through. When describing the problems, please indicate the links in question, as well as the request in which the problem is reproduced.

In light of the rejection of the Host directive, I would like to tell more about the recommendations for moving the site. These recommendations are intended both for moving to the https protocol, and for moving to a new domain name, since the algorithm will match.

The Host directive allowed to keep the old site accessible for the period of the move, however its use was also fraught with some inconvenience. For example, it was necessary to verify that the Host directive specified the same site for all mirrors, otherwise the move might have occurred incorrectly. In this regard, it was decided to abandon the use of the Host directive - now moving will only be performed using the HTTP-301 redirect. It will also simplify the combination of moving to Yandex and other search engines. Now for moving I recommend the following:

Both sites must be accessible to the robot. Check that the robots.txt of both sites contains the same rules, because if different pages are prohibited, this can lead to a difference in content. If sites use the same robots.txt file, then the sitemap file should be specified at the address of the new main mirror, since it will be indexed after the move.

Make sure that most of the pages on your sites are accessible and respond with an HTTP-200 code of OK or a redirect code of 301. If a significant portion of the pages is unavailable on domains due to a 404 response code, this may prevent the move. In this case, inaccessible pages can be prohibited from indexing in the robots.txt file so that the mirroring robot does not visit them when reconciling content.

3. Verify that all mirrors in the group redirect to the desired main mirror. This also applies to versions with or without www.

When all the necessary settings have been made, in the Yandex.Webmaster panel of the old address, send a request to move the site. If the application was successfully accepted, it means that the settings are correct and the sites will be able to stick together. The gluing process has been significantly accelerated and can now take from several days to 3 weeks. I note that the completion of the move does not mean that all pages of the site will immediately go to the search at the address of the main mirror. Non-primary mirror pages will participate in the search for some time until similar pages of the main mirror are indexed. Gradually, as you crawl through the desired site, the non-essential can disappear from the search.

Often also the question arises, why does Yandex.Webmaster have a non-primary mirror a large number of pages in the "Downloaded" list, and this number can even increase, although pages do not appear in the search. There is no mistake: the list of downloaded pages includes all pages whose links are known to the indexing robot, so the data on such pages may well be stored in the robot database. Such pages will not get into the search, since they belong to a non-primary mirror.

Do not forget also that for a new domain in Yandex.Webmaster you need to add your sitemap file and set the regionality.

Check Yandex.Webmaster almost more often than social networks? We understand you :) Thanks to the many new tools that appeared in the service this year, new data appears daily, or even more often. In addition, the most important of them are perfectly visible on a single page. Sometimes one glance at her is enough to see the problem.

Ahead of the winter holidays and vacations is a great time to spend more time with your family and friends. And Yandex.Webmaster will take care that you do not lose sight of the significant events in the life of the site. We tell how.

1. Configure monitoring of the most important pages of the site using the tool: add the addresses you want to track and configure notifications in the same section, indicating which events to report. For example, if the page with your main product, service, the most popular article among visitors stops responding to the 200 code, you will receive an e-mail in the near future and you can correct the situation by not allowing the page to fall out of the search.

It is useful to note the title change event. It is unlikely that the page with the children’s sledges will suddenly be called a “scooter,” but it may happen that because of problems on the server, the search robot will receive a stub page with a response code of 200 with service text.

If, as a result of the check, the page responds with the code 200 OK and there are no problems with the availability of content, then the warning in the Webmaster will disappear within a few days and we can assume that the problem was solved;)

I wish you a good toast to all readers of the Old Crow blog. Today I decided to talk with you about such a significant character for all webmasters as Plato Schukin, or simply Plato. Plato is both a robot and a pseudonym for technical support for the Russian Internet giant Yandex. As a rule, it is on his behalf that Yandex communicates with webmasters. Plato even has his own blog, on which he publishes quite interesting information. This blog lives here - https://yandex.ru/blog/platon/. But, often, a blog is not enough, because every webmaster sooner or later has an individual question. And then, there is nothing left but to write to Plato directly. But here is how to do it right with the swami and try to figure it out.

But, for starters, let's recall what I said a little higher. Plato is a robot ... Exactly. In most cases, it was the robot who answered the first letter sent to Schukin, not the living people in the support group. This happens for one simple reason. Every day, thousands, if not tens of thousands of letters are sent to the support group. Now think about what kind of staff you need to have in order to answer each of them. That is why, if a letter has standard content, then it is filtered out and a standard answer comes to it. If the webmaster does not calm down and writes again in support of Yandex, then a living person will take the place of Plato and the answer will already be individual. By the way, here I was talking about how to write correctly in support of Yandex, so that they would certainly answer you.

By the way, another secret, although what a secret it is, but still. If you want a real support group to answer your very first letter, then this letter should be written in the most unusual way. There can be many examples, and they are in an extraordinary number scattered throughout the Internet. Therefore, I will give only one that you would know in which direction to dance:

Good day!

During the last take-off of my Boeing ... ru, which took place on 01.20.11, all passengers were mercilessly killed by your fighters and no one was left alive.

This upsets me very much and I would like to know the reason for such a mass terror.

Illegal sale of tickets on the Boeing was not carried out, so the reason the passengers were bent remains a mystery.

Tell me, what needs to be done so that my Boeing returns to airspace with passengers again ?!

Why is this happening? Most likely, because the robot can not answer such a letter and gives it to manual moderation.

Where to write to Plato. Step-by-step instruction

Well, now the most important thing is the exact address where to write to Plato. After all, with the innovations of Yandex, they hid the reverse form so far that they could not be found right away. First things first, we will need to answer a bunch of questions in Yandex Webmaster with possible solutions to our problem. And only after we prettyly lament that we didn’t find the answer, we finally get on the feedback form with Plato. For example, I will give visual instructions for my site:

We go to YaV

Click on it and get to the feedback page. Where we are offered to choose a site about which we want to write to Plato. If you have only one site, then of course you do not have to choose.

Next, we get to the page where you will be asked to select the subject matter. What we do. For example, I did not guess and poked at the very top - Site Indexing.

Here we have to answer all kinds of questions. If we do not find anything practical, then we clam that none of the above solves our problems.

In the end, we throw it on the feedback form. Here we fill in all the fields marked with an asterisk. And since everything is marked with an asterisk, then fill everything \u003d)). We can also attach a screenshot. Then we press the send button and wait for Plato's response to the specified mail.
