The brightness reserve is quite high - up to 401 cd/m2. The measured contrast reached 1194:1 - an excellent result for IPS. Viewing angles are wide, there is no color shift, only the typical IPS purple tint appears when viewed at a diagonal angle. But the contrast at an angle drops quite noticeably - this is due to the glossy reflective coating of the screen on the outside. But the matrix itself does not have a “mirror” effect - apparently, a polarizing filter is used here. Therefore, when looking directly at the screen, contrast and black depth remain very good even in ambient light. Of course, this does not save you from the bright sun, but in general the contrast and legibility of the image on the screen here is higher than we are used to seeing on other tablets.
Let's move on. According to the measurement results, the average gamma was 2.49, which is significantly higher than the target value of 2.2. On average, the brightness of the image turns out to be somewhat underestimated, and this is especially evident in shades close to white - the brightness of the screen increases here noticeably slower than the brightness of the signal.
But in real images this is not so noticeable. By the way, gamma behavior changes with screen brightness, so there may be differences in detail on different settings.
The white balance here is excellent. The color temperature across the entire range of shades fluctuates around the reference value of 6500K. At the same time, the color deviation DeltaE in the most critical range is less than 3 units. This is excellent accuracy for a factory setting.
The average DeltaE value was about 2.84 - we can say that the shades of gray on the screen do not differ from the reference ones. Accordingly, the image tone is neutral and very uniform, with minimal impurities, except in the extreme range near black or white. This does not create problems at all in real images.
The color gamut turned out to be a “weak link”; it is narrower than prescribed by the sRGB standard. This results in the colors on the screen lacking depth and saturation a little. But this is largely compensated by good contrast, so colors do not “wash out” in bright light. Therefore, the image looks quite rich and deep, especially if you do not compare it side by side with the sRGB reference.
Based on the results of measurements and tests, we can say that in general the screen of the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet 2 showed its strength.
