But unfortunately, the first option is not suitable for everyone, and now I will try to briefly explain why. For example, I have a Surface RT tablet, a PC, and a netbook. They all work for G8. And when I leave home, I try not to leave the computer on, because someone else might be using it. There was once a case when my nephews came to me (and I didn’t have a password), then they clicked on me with anything, deleted information that was extremely important to me, and much more. Of course, I don’t want my correspondence to be read by third parties. The second option is to replace the long password with a short PIN code. That is, if you set this PIN code, you will use it to log in to the system, and not your Microsoft account password. Now, I will try to explain and show in screenshots how to do this. The instructions are quite simple and will not take much of your time. It will take you literally a couple of minutes to do everything.

First of all, on the desktop of your device, call up the “Charm bar”, through which we will go to the parameters (you can do this differently).

Then, on the left we will see a small menu, here you need to select the item called “Accounts”.

In the next step, you will need to select the “Login Options” tab.

After this, a window will appear in which you will need to enter the existing password for your MS account in the appropriate line. Done? Great.

With each new version of Windows, new features try to improve usability in a variety of ways. Windows 10 is rapidly growing in popularity thanks to its innovative security features, and among these security options there is a new feature - setting a PIN code.

Why using a PIN improves security

If a password has been compromised in any way, the unauthorized person who was able to log in will gain access to other platforms tied to the same password. On the other hand, if the PIN is compromised, the unauthorized person only has access to one device. An attacker will not be able to use the PIN to authorize other devices linked to the account.

In addition, a person must be physically present near the device to enter a PIN, but a password is a completely different story. If someone steals your computer, they won't be able to log in unless they know the PIN. Also, keep in mind that the PIN authentication method is essential if you want to take advantage of the advanced security features that Windows Hello provides, such as fingerprint scanning and iris recognition.

Open the Settings app and select the Accounts section. Then select the “Login Options” tab and click the “Add” button in the PIN section.

If you are prompted for a password, enter your local account password and click “OK.”

If you are using a Microsoft account. then enter your Microsoft account password and click “Login”. After entering your password to confirm your identity, enter the numbers in the dialog box. The minimum length of a PIN code is 4 characters (numbers 0-9, letters and special characters are not allowed), but the maximum length of a PIN code is not limited. If you want to check the entered numbers, click the icon on the right side of the PIN input field. In this case, when you click the icon, the specified characters will be displayed.

The only requirement for selecting a PIN is a minimum length of 4 digits. There are no restrictions on complexity or maximum length. Here are a few considerations for choosing a PIN:

• Using more characters will reduce the likelihood of your PIN being guessed, but make sure you can enter the PIN quickly and accurately or you will gain minimal benefit over using a password.
• Using a simple PIN (0000, 0123, 1111, etc.) increases the likelihood of it being solved. Use random numbers.
• The use of PIN codes from bank accounts or credit cards should be avoided. Also, avoid using the same PIN on different devices.

Open the Settings app and select the Accounts section. Then select the “Login Options” tab and click the “Change” button in the PIN section.

Enter your current PIN, enter the required numbers in the New PIN field, and then click OK.

If you are unable to sign in to your Windows account using your PIN, you will be prompted to click the Sign-in Options link. After this, you are offered all possible login methods that were pre-configured: graphic password, PIN, Windows Hello and regular password.

Open the Settings app and select the Accounts section. Then select the “Login Options” tab and click the “I forgot my password” link in the PIN section.

Enter your account password and continue setting up a new PIN. Remember that when you boot into Safe Mode, you will need to log in using your regular password; other login options are not allowed. So, setting up a PIN is quite easy, and if you haven't set up a PIN on your device yet, do it right now.

What did this give us in the end?

Now, every time you restart your iPhone, you will be prompted for a PIN in addition to your regular password. The same thing will happen if you insert our SIM card into another phone.

The most important thing is not to forget your PIN, because after several attempts to enter it unsuccessfully, the SIM card will be blocked and a PUK code will be required to unlock it.

You cannot change the PUK, and you have ten attempts to enter it. If the PUK code has not been saved, then in this case only replacing the SIM, which can be done at the operator’s showroom, will help. This service is provided free of charge, and the balance, number, tariff and connected services will be available on the new card.

However, the pros definitely outweigh the cons. The code will only have to be entered when rebooting, but in return we get complete security for the safety of our funds in case of loss or theft of the iPhone.
