But besides these giants of wearable electronics, there are also small and unknown companies that also want to catch up with this fast-moving locomotive. This is exactly the kind of watch that will be discussed in this review. Manufacturer "CAT" and this new player on the market, and the watch is called "CAT Ja". In this review we will try to figure out how cute this kitten turned out to be.

ABOUT THE MANUFACTURER COMPANY

Having rummaged through the Internet, I did not find much information about this manufacturer. The official website contains information that this company produces DVRs, smart watches and children's tracker watches with GPS support.

The range from this manufacturer is not particularly rich and includes: two DVRs, one smart watch, and a GPS tracker for children.

PACKAGE

Hmm... the watch is packed in a small paper bag black with handles. The bag is small, just like if you bought a bottle of perfume as a gift for the woman you love, they give them out at the checkout...

But the package already contains the main packaging for this watch.

I would like to note right away that Cat Ja is not a Russian development. The design and filling are completely Chinese. In our case, only the firmware was localized, and even then in some places there was a layering of the font and not entirely adequate translation of certain symbols.

The appearance of this smartwatch in terms of design is not enough stars from the sky. Everything is very simple and concise, there is nothing special to catch the eye. Personally, it seemed to me that the thickness of the device was too large and in my practice it was perhaps the thickest smartwatch on the test.

The front of the watch is framed in a silver metal frame. Accordingly, the frame itself is attached to the plastic base using four screws for a hexagonal star screwdriver. The screws themselves are located in the corners of the frame and fit harmoniously into the overall concept.

The screen frames in our case can be said to be quite narrow, only 3mm around the entire perimeter. The screen diagonal is 1.54 inches with a resolution of 240x240 pixels. The pixel density with these characteristics is 220 dots per inch. It seems like a pretty good indicator for a watch screen, but individual pixels are clearly visible on the screen itself. Already glued to the screen from the factory protective film and I don’t recommend you take it off, because protective coating This screen simply does not have it. But the screen itself boasts a good anti-glare filter; the information on the screen is perfectly readable in any weather. But the interface does not work very smoothly; when scrolling through the menu, there is a slight delay in updating the information on the screen.

As I said above, the back of the watch is made of black plastic with small gold inclusions. The base of the watch is flat and has a smooth curved transition to the front part.

The upper and lower ends narrow slightly when moving to the strap; accordingly, the strap turned out to be slightly narrower than the case itself.

The strap itself is made of black silicone, but the material itself turned out to be somewhat rough with sharp edges and the flaking in places on the strap remained uncut. In addition, the strap cannot be straightened 180 degrees. The right and left parts of the strap are located exactly at an angle of 90 degrees, which imposes certain inconveniences when putting the watch on your hand.

Accordingly, even if you have a small wrist, it is not convenient to wear a watch on your hand; it simply rubs your hand both with the case and with the strap itself, ergonomics in in this case He's limping quite a bit. The owner of a large wrist may obviously be upset about this. The strap is not removable.

Among the metal parts, we still have a classic watch clasp made of polished steel. The tab on the clasp is not long enough and a couple of times my watch unfastened spontaneously because the tab itself simply fell through the base of the clasp.

CONTROLS

CONNECTION AND FUNCTIONALITY

To fully synchronize the watch and smartphone, we need an application called "SmartWatch" Manager for W2". You can download this application by name through the PlayMarket or use the application to read the QR code; by the way, the link to this application is in the watch menu. I would also like to note that this watch does not work with smartphones on iOS and Windows Phone, but it seems that according to rumors, the developers are already working on a solution to this issue.

Through "SmartWatch Manager for W2" we allow Cat Ja access to your smartphone. IN this application We also allow pop-up notifications. We select programs from which messages will be sent to the watch, you can create a list of programs/applications from which, on the contrary, messages will not be received, a kind of “black list” at the program level.

We also allow access to SMS messages. Synchronizing contacts with the clock. I was unable to synchronize contacts with a smartphone running Android OS 5.0. But on version 4.2.2. no such problems arose. The problem most likely lies in the firmware of the watch itself. By the way, you cannot update the firmware on this watch remotely via a smartphone; for this procedure you need to visit the official service center, but what to do? Is there no s/c at your place of residence? The question remains open.

Through the application you can find your watch if you cannot find it, the search radius is limited by the BT connection.
You can also choose your locality and the watch will display the weather in your area.

Remote control camera. Through the application, you can launch the camera and control it from your watch. Please note that camera settings are not available in this mode. The image on the watch screen lags very much behind that on the smartphone screen. And the quality of pictures in this mode turns out to be quite mediocre if you were just using a smartphone camera.

It is noteworthy that the speaker plays quite loudly during a call, but speech during a conversation is quite quiet, you can only carry on a conversation in silence. It’s absolutely impossible to have a conversation on the street; you won’t hear anything. The interlocutor’s voice comes out somewhat harsh and unnatural. During the testing process, it turned out that the sound volume on the watch cannot be adjusted, not at all. But the vibration pleases with its power; your hand even shakes when the watch vibrates.

NOTICES. In this application we view incoming notifications/messages. For example, if a message arrives via WhatsApp, we will simply see from which number the message came, but we will not see the text of the message itself. When you exit NOTIFICATION, information about the incoming message is not saved.

MUSIC. Manage music tracks that are downloaded to your smartphone. The only functions available are rewind, start and pause.

CALENDAR. In fact regular calendar. You can set a reminder for any day sound notification. You can also create a reminder interval for a different number of days.

You can independently set the desired distance, for example for a jog, and set the time for the jog itself; after achieving the result, the watch will notify you sound signal. CALCULATOR. Regular calculator. The set of numbers is quite small. Those with vision problems may obviously experience some discomfort.

AUTONOMOUS OPERATION

What's nice about this smartwatch is the 420 mAh battery. Not every smartwatch can boast such a good battery. This is probably why the watch itself is so thick.

I tested autonomous operation in two modes, namely with and without BT connection.

If you use this smartwatch purely without a BT connection, then full charge On average, it lasts for a whole week of battery life.

CONCLUSIONS

While searching for information about the cost of watches on the Internet, I received average at 5 thousand rubles. It’s interesting, but the manufacturer’s website does not have this information, which is quite strange. In general, in this price category you can find many competing products. Taking into account the shortcomings found, I think this price a little overpriced. The product clearly needs improvement in software and firmware.
