Checking the apple watch charge. Apple Watch charging options

In 2015 Apple company showed her vision of a “smart” watch, which was called Apple Watch. It is worth noting that it was rumors about their development that gave rise to great amount similar watches even before their release. In this article we will look at how much Charger holds a charge, is the battery durable and how is charging done, consider the cable for Apple chargers Watch and what is a power bank ( power bank) for Apple Watch.

The device has a lithium-ion battery, which has an interesting feature - charging and its speed depend on the level of the battery and charge at the time of charging. Thus, we can say that the charge is not distributed evenly.

According to some studies, one percent of the charge reaches the device in an average of one minute. However, if the watch is 80 percent charged, the speed drops.

According to the same studies, from 10 percent to 80 it takes about 70 minutes, and to “get” to 100 you need to spend another 40 minutes. It is worth noting that the same data is indicated on the company’s website. It is worth charging the Apple Watch correctly in two approaches. But this is individual and depends on how much charge remains in the evening. Typically this figure is about half the charge. Thus up fully charged It takes one and a half to two hours, which in principle is not so bad.

It is recommended to charge the device as follows: half an hour in the morning, and then about 40 minutes in the evening. The numbers are approximate and sometimes vary by plus or minus 10 minutes. You can charge it when the watch has a lot of time with Apple Watches not required: during breakfast, shower, etc. If a training session is planned, the time increases accordingly.

The watch has an energy saving mode, but according to user reviews, this rarely happens even when they forgot to charge it in the morning. There are tips that can help you increase operating time; later we will reveal some of them in more detail:

  • Enable economy mode.
  • Monitor your battery charge using widgets on the main desktop with watch faces.
  • Install simpler dials.
  • Use less brightness.
  • Disable animations.
  • Set up notifications and select only the programs you need.
  • Play with the power of haptic notifications.

If the Apple Watch does not charge, then contact technical support or a service center about the problem.

Charging on Apple Watch

When the Apple device's charge is low, the creators recommend charging the watch by removing it from your hand.

In order to charge, you need to:

  • Connect the magnetic power cable and use a special case or docking station to charge the device. The Apple Watch charging cable is included, which is convenient. The charger itself must be connected to the network for it to charge.
  • Wait until the watch is fully charged. To find out that charging is on device goes or that they are charged, you need to see if there is green lightning on the screen.

Let's look at ways to save energy.

Using Eco Mode

If you turn on eco mode, the time will be displayed on the main dial, but the charge will be conserved. On the side you just need to press the button and the time will be displayed in the standard 24 hour format. It is worth remembering that in this mode the device does not sync with the iPhone and some other functions are also limited.

Enabling Eco Mode

This mode is activated when the overall charge level drops below 10%. The device notifies you about this and offers to use it. In the case when the battery is discharged almost to zero, the watch switches to this mode automatically.

In order to enable the mode yourself at any time, you must fulfill the following conditions:

  1. Swipe up on the home screen to open System Control Center.
  2. Next, select the battery charge level and press the economy mode, after which you need to confirm its choice.

Turning off eco mode

To turn off the mode, the following is required:

  1. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears.
  2. Reboot the watch and possibly put it on charge.

Use the minimum required brightness

There is no standard and usual brightness adjustment in the device; it changes itself and adapts to external lighting. However, it is possible to independently choose one of 3 options automatic settings. This is done either through the watch itself or using an application on the phone. To do this you need:

  • Select "Brightness and text size".
  • Select the brightness that suits you best.

In winter, this value often reaches its minimum. In the summer or just in sunny times outdoors, you should choose those that are higher, otherwise it will be very difficult to make out what is written on it.

Disable animation

Animation not only wastes your battery, but, to be honest, it often lags. Although this was fixed in watchOS 2, problems still occur. To disable them you need to:

  • Open on iPhone app with a clock.
  • Then you need to select the item with the clock.
  • Select "Basic".
  • Go to accessibility.
  • Reduce movements to a minimum.

Use simpler watch faces

If there are colors on the dial other than black, then these places consume the most energy. It is for this reason that it is worth saving energy by using simple watch faces, where most of the screen is occupied by black elements. This is a feature of any device with an OLED display. Black parts of the screen mean those parts are turned off.

Similarly, if the dials are animated or these are bright photographs, then the charge will be spent more and faster. So the same popular dials with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse are very wasteful. It is enough to select a regular dial and its various options.

It's worth playing with the power of haptic notifications

The default setting is that the watch vibrates on the user's hand. It is logical that the larger and stronger the vibration, the more charge is spent on its maintenance. To set up notifications and adjust vibration strength, you need to:

  • Open the clock app on your iPhone.
  • Then you need to select the item with the clock.
  • Select an item with sounds and tactile signals.
  • Set a lower vibration and balance it as desired.

Set up Apple Watch notifications

It’s better to place fewer ads to save not only battery power, but also nerves. It's worth noting that if notifications were initially turned off on the iPhone, they will be turned off on the watch, but this process can be adjusted as follows:

  • Open the clock app on your iPhone.
  • Then you need to select the item with the clock.
  • Select Notifications.
  • Turn off those notifications that are not of great importance.

Conclusion

As we can see from the article, the watch holds a charge for a long time. They charge quickly and the charging time reaches no more than 2 hours to 100%, that is, they do not take a long time. To increase the service life of your device, just use the tips presented above.

Many people complain about the autonomy of the Apple Watch, so before purchasing it, I was worried that I couldn’t track my sleep and heart rate at night. After all, in theory, when I sleep, the watch should be charging.

But time Apple works The Watch turned out to be not so small, and charging itself takes much less time than I expected. And if you develop a certain habit, you can leave the watch on even while sleeping.

How to charge Apple Watch

Lithium-ion batteries, which are also used in the Apple Watch, have interesting feature- their charging speed is not uniform and depends on the level of the current charge.

Apple Watch charging speed

My own measurements show that the watch charges slightly faster. In 60 minutes the charge rises from 10% to 76%, although for this I use AUKEY Quick Charge 3.0. Her regular USB the port outputs 12 W versus 10 W iPad charging and 5 W for standard Apple Watch charging. As you can see, there is no 2x increase in charging speed, but the Apple Watch power controller still allows the watch to charge a little faster when using a more powerful charger.

I charge my Apple Watch with AUKEY Quick Charge 3.0

Another great option for charging devices is BlitzWolf for two USB. It charges just as quickly, but is physically smaller.

To minimize charging time, it is best to carry out it in two stages. It all depends on how you use the watch and how much charge you have left at the end of the day. Taking into account training, I usually have 50-55% left by the evening. That is, you don’t need a lot of time to charge. In theory, 110 minutes should be enough.

Personally, I have developed this ritual: 30 minutes on morning exercises and 40 minutes In the evening. These numbers are approximate and I don’t specifically monitor them, but in the morning I charge the watch a little less than in the evening. This mostly happens while I'm showering, eating, or lying in bed. In general, during those periods when a watch is not particularly needed.

I charge my Apple Watch for about 30 minutes in the morning and 40 minutes in the evening. This is enough to keep the watch always charged.

Even on days when I have a two-hour workout, the Apple Watch charge never drops below 40% by 9 p.m. With this charging mode, the watch usually manages to charge up to 100% every morning.

In a few years Apple usage Watch I have never had a case where the watch was completely discharged or went into energy saving mode.

Well, now a few tips that will help maximize the operating time of your Apple Watch on a single charge.

Use Simple Watch Faces

The Apple Watch has an OLED display, which means that only those pixels that display a color other than black use energy. Simply put - black pixels are disabled. If you look at such a display under a microscope, it looks like this:

Pixels Apple display Watch under a microscope

The less information on the screen, the less energy it consumes and the longer the Apple Watch will last on a single charge. And vice versa - animated watch faces with photos or Mickey Mouse will drain the watch faster.

The less visualization on the watch face, the less energy it uses

Use the minimum required brightness

The Apple Watch does not have manual brightness adjustment in the usual sense; it always changes automatically depending on the ambient light. But you can choose one of three algorithms automatic brightness. This can be done both on the watch itself and in Watch app on iPhone.

  1. Open the application Watch;
  2. Select “Brightness and text size”;
  3. Set the desired brightness.

Set Apple Watch Maximum Brightness

At first I tried to set it to the minimum, but in the tropics the average value is still more pleasant to my eye. I think that in winter the brightness can be safely turned down to a minimum.

Turn off effects

This solution is controversial and is unlikely to help Apple owners Watch third and fourth generation. But it will definitely help the owners of Series 1, 2. Without effects, the interface lags much less. It's more pleasant to work this way.

  1. Open the application Watch;
  2. Go to the “My Watch” tab;
  3. Select “Basic”;
  4. Select “Universal Access”;
  5. Then “Reduce Motion”.

On first and second generation watches, you should disable interface animation

Adjust the strength of haptic notifications

When you receive a notification, your Apple Watch pulses on your wrist. The more notifications, the more energy is spent on vibration. We'll talk about setting up notifications below, but now let's adjust the vibration strength.

  1. Open the application Watch;
  2. Go to the “My Watch” tab;
  3. Select “Sounds and tactile signals”;
  4. Adjust vibration.

Adjust Apple Watch vibration strength

The far left position will turn off the pulsation completely. The middle position is the average pulsation, the far right is the maximum. With the “Perceptible signal” option enabled, the watch will additionally vibrate not only during the notification, but also before it.

Personally, I turned off the "Perceptible Alarm" (it's off by default) and set the vibration strength to maximum. Otherwise I don't feel it during workouts when the Gymaholic signals to me that the rest is over.

Set up Apple Watch notifications

The fewer notifications, the stronger the nerves. It’s worth turning off unnecessary ones if only for this reason. By default, Apple Watch copies notification settings from your iPhone. For example, if notifications from Viber are disabled on it, then there will be no Viber in the notifications section of the watch. But if notifications are enabled on your iPhone, you can turn them off on your watch.

  1. Open the application Watch;
  2. Go to the “My Watch” tab;
  3. Select “Notifications”;
  4. Turn off unnecessary notifications.

If you turn off unnecessary notifications on your Apple Watch, the watch will work longer

On Apple Watch, it makes sense to leave particularly important notifications, but disable unimportant ones, like likes on Instagram. If you like them, then let them pour on the iPhone, but not on the watch.

Eventually

Current Apple version The Watch cannot yet last 5-7 days on a single charge. Maximum - one and a half. But if they are charged correctly, then during the day they can practically not be removed and can even be used to monitor sleep. Personally, I see the Apple Watch as another gadget, not a watch, and gadgets need to be charged. And I have no complaints about this.
