The best Twitter client for iPad and iPhone

Something weird is going on with Twitter clients on iOS. Judge for yourself - the social network is one of the most popular in the world, hundreds of famous people use Twitter as a means of communication, the word "tweet" has entered our vocabulary ... At the same time, the official Twitter client in the App Store is very, very mediocre.

And with one of the latest updates, one of the interesting features of the In the Know program was completely removed. A tab where you could see trends, most popular tweets, etc. This degradation is surprising given how interconnected Twitter and iOS are.

It would seem that in the wake of the weaknesses of the official client, third-party companies could get rich. But it was not there. Take the press-loved Tweetbot. At first glance, an ideal program for microblogging, but it has two drawbacks:

1) High cost. Tweetbot for OS X costs 799 rubles. A lot, but if you remember that the versions for the iPhone (279 rubles) and iPad (169 rubles) need to be purchased separately, it becomes very sad ...

2) Tweetbot for iOS has not yet updated its design left over from iOS 5-6. The application has not been updated for more than a year, which means that I personally have lost confidence in such a developer.

I thought: are there any other worthy alternatives? And I remembered the oldest application (well, you have to manage to write its name correctly!).

The number 5 means that this is the fifth version of the application. Version 5.0 was released on December 5, 2012. Since then it has been updated many times. This is a big plus in the karma of the program - the developers constantly support the application.

Twitterrific 5 is free on the App Store but has in-app purchases.

  • Push Notifications
  • Built-in translation of tweets
  • Removing ads. On top of the first tweet in the feed is an advertising banner that is not visible when scrolling.

The most advantageous offer is to buy the entire package of services for 279 rubles. That is, this is the real price of using all the features of Twitterrific 5 on iOS (the application version is universal, which means there is one purchase for iPhone and iPad). The free version can be used indefinitely without the above benefits.

Twitterrific has a modern design, but it's not perfect. If everything looks good on the iPhone, then on the iPad some kind of disproportion is obvious. A specific moment that you need to get used to, well, or customize for yourself - the application allows this.

Since Twitterrific 5 is in English and not all readers of the site understand it, I will explain the menu items below. There are a couple of things that are not obvious.

Home- your news feed, here are the tweets of those you follow. Swiping right on a tweet will open a reply window. Swipe left to read the discussion associated with the tweet.

If you want to see additional options: the number of retweets, favorites, quote a tweet, then hold your finger on the tweet for a couple of seconds. Everything will appear.

Mentions- retweets and replies to your tweets.

messages- private messages. Correspondence can be carried out only with those users to whom you are mutually subscribed.

Favorites- Selected tweets. What you have added to your favorites.

Search— search box for tweets, people, hashtags… Search results can be added to favorites to get quick access to them in the future.

Muffles- a curious feature that allows you to hide or completely remove all tweets from the feed by keyword, by author, by hashtag. Application? You can hide certain people you follow, but they spam the feed with some topic that you are not interested in. And you do not want to unsubscribe, so as not to offend.

Today— daily notifications are collected here. The feature is available with an in-app purchase.

Twitterrific 5 has rich visual style settings: font selection, line spacing, icon size... There is a night theme.

In the settings, you can select a service for pictures and delayed reading (Instapaper and Readability are available), make opening links in Safari by default, etc.

Well, it’s not surprising that Twitterific 5 supports multiple accounts and makes it possible to customize the top bar with icons.

Conclusion: Twitterific 5 is arguably the best alternative Twitter client for iPhone and iPad right now.

P.S. I remind you that we have
