This name corresponds to the technical term 8Р4С - a jack equipped with eight contacts (knives) and four latches. Although it is generally accepted that the name RJ45 hides the 8P8C connector, which differs from the previous one in dimensions and physical characteristics (8 knives and 8 latches).

Depending on the version, this type of connector may or may not have a protective shield. The shielded FTP RJ45 jack should only be used with shielded twisted pair cable. Otherwise, it not only loses all meaning, but also becomes unprofitable from an economic point of view. The main difference between an FTP connector and an unshielded connector (UTP) is the presence of a metal braid, which performs the function of removing electromagnetic waves from both the jack itself and the cable.

Telephone connectors

Available in three types of modules - RJ11, RJ14, RJ25. There is complete confusion in understanding the markings of these connectors. BNC connectors

Special crimping of the BNC connector requires certain costs, but such costs are recouped due to the high reliability and durability of this type of jack. Most of the failures during the operation of a video surveillance camera are caused by poor-quality cable connections. BNC connectors ensure proper connection of coaxial cable, which prevents losses that may occur during signal transmission.

There are a huge number of BNC connectors available today. Plugs, or as they are also called “male connections,” are especially popular. Female connectors (female connections) are no less popular. Connectors trimmed with precious metals (silver or gold) are also in demand, because this design significantly reduces resistance and prevents oxidation.

Orienting elements are designed, as a rule, to ensure that each contact of one part of the connector is connected to its intended mating contact of the other when mated.

The connector is, as a rule, a paired device: the “male” part (eng. male plug; according to GOST - male part) contains pin contacts (pins); “mother” (eng. female plug; according to GOST - socket part) contains socket contacts. Pin and socket contacts that touch to form an electrical contact are collectively called contact parts. The pin contact part is intended for insertion into the socket and electrical contact with it along its outer working surface, and the socket part - with the pin along its inner working surface. The socket contact part usually consists of one or two spring plates. When the connector is mated, the pin touches the plates, which, bending, cover it, ensuring constant electrical contact.

There are also connectors that contain both male and female contacts in one part. In Russian-language technical and reference literature, such connectors are called electrical connector hybrids. Most 220/380 V power sockets use the elasticity of a strip of low-elastic contact metal, usually brass, to make contact, while cheap sockets are made of steel (i.e. flat spring). Low elasticity of the material and high bending loads in a flat spring (see Hooke's law) with frequent switching on/off lead over time to the fact that the flat spring loses its elasticity, the contact becomes worse, which leads to excessive heating, or the contact disappears completely and the socket stops working function.
