When will the presentation of the new iPad take place? Apple's annual event series

Apple's September 7 presentation pleased us with several new products, as well as a whole bunch of new features for this company's devices.

The highlight of the evening, as expected, was serial number 7, two models, 3 variations of built-in memory and 5 different colors.

Apple also updated its smartwatches to (not to be confused with the not yet released Apple Watch 2).

In addition, Apple showed a completely new device - wireless (not included) headphones and equipped the old ones (included) with a Lightning connector.

For me, Apple presentations have always been divided into 2 parts: boring, during which they tell us about the company’s successes, its role in socially important projects and show services that will only work in the USA; and an interesting one, during which new devices and their mind-blowing functions are demonstrated. This year was no exception.

After a creepy intro with James Cordon and Tim Cook singing, they started telling us how successful Apple service Music, how many applications are downloaded from the App Store and even invited one of the directors of Nintendo to announce the game Super Mario Run, which will be released exclusively for iOS. Then we talked about the Apple Watch. We were told for a long time and tediously that this is the best smart watch, ranking 2nd in sales among all watch brands, they showed us the features of the new watchOS, and then moved on to the Apple Watch Series 2. This is where the boring part ended and the more or less interesting part began.

Even though the new watch hasn't changed much in appearance, it still piqued my interest. Firstly, moisture protection, secondly, GPS, and a new ceramic case white- I liked it very much. Although, as it turned out, the ceramic model costs at least 116 thousand rubles. Since the Apple Watch was originally conceived with a focus on sports, it was not surprising that Apple introduced new line smart watch co-authored with Nike. I don’t know about you, but the sports line didn’t grab my attention. Maybe because of the design, maybe because of unnecessary features, or maybe because I don't like running.

After a short, boring digression about iPhone sales, Tim Cook moved on to the presentation of the new iPhone 7, and here, despite the record number of leaks, the public (including me) held its breath. I don’t know how to explain this, but the euphoria in the hall from the iPhone 7 could be cut with a knife. And this despite the fact that only the new color “Black Onyx” was new to us, because we already knew the rest long before today from numerous insiders. From the stage we were told about "10 amazing facts about the iPhone 7", which I would shorten to the phrase: "the new iPhone is a little different from the previous one, but it takes photos, shoots video, sounds and works better than anything you've seen before." In fact, this phrase can describe any presentation of the new iPhone.

Apple further hinted that the audio jack has no place in modern smartphone and introduced EarPods with Lightning, an adapter from Lightning to 3.5 and wireless AirPods, which the company plans to sell for $159 (13,000 rubles). The latter use the new W1 processor, which marked the beginning of a whole line wireless headphones Beats.

According to established tradition, the presentation ended with a performance by musicians. This time, Sia was on stage, who a couple of days ago presented a new video for the song The Greatest. With the same song, she came to the Apple presentation in a shocking costume and a child dancer who performed very strange (but incredibly fashionable now) dances. I chose not to watch this part, since the random movements of the children turned me away even when watching the clip.

Well, after that, that’s it, the journalists were allowed into the “tactile” room, where they can touch all the new products, and they said goodbye to online viewers until next time.

Summing up what happened, I noted this for myself - what caught my attention the most were: “Black Onyx”, “Portrait mode in the iPhone 7 Plus”, “Refusal of the 3.5 mini-jack”, “Wireless AirPods” and ceramic apple Watch Series 2. But everything else sounded in the background to me, such as “launch Apple Pay in Japan". The icing on the cake was a video on the official Apple channel with a brief retelling of the presentation. So if you missed the presentation, watch it.

Apple will present a number of new products on Monday. The event, which starts at 8 pm Moscow time, will feature at least a new smartphone and tablet. Vesti.Hi-tech has collected everything that is known about the upcoming Apple products.

Mid cycle

Even more new products are expected this year. With a probability close to 100%, at the presentation in Cupertino they will show a new (but not the flagship, but a more compact and affordable) iPhone and a smaller one iPad sizes Air iPad tablet Pro. Also Apple has already It's been a long time coming from announcements new Macs with fresh Intel processors Skylake 6th generation - updates may finally be coming to many models of Apple computers, including the 12-inch MacBook Retina. Finally, some rumors pointed to announcements related to the Apple Watch (although a completely new model is unlikely to be shown).

iPhone SE

The main novelty of today's presentation will almost certainly be a new compact smartphone with 4-inch screen: iPhone SE. Sold as models for a long time entry level smartphones from the year before last or even older ones, Apple decided to change its strategy by releasing a compact and affordable (at the level of current prices for the iPhone 5s) model with modern filling.

There is no consensus yet on the appearance of the new product among the publications that publish all the Apple rumors. The most reliable sources in Lately usually ended up with 9to5mac journalist Mark Gurman. He wrote last week that the iPhone SE will look "almost identical" to the iPhone 5S, meaning the impact of the iPhone 6's sleek design will be minimal. Volume buttons, same as old iPhones, will be round, the edges will be quite sharp, and the back panel will be metal in the middle with glass inserts at the top and bottom. Only the slightly rounded edges of the front glass can “modernize” the appearance of the new product. As a result, the device will be compatible with cases and likely many other accessories for the iPhone 5S.

According to the latest rumors from 9to5mac sources, the iPhone SE will be offered in configurations with 16 and 64 GB of internal memory and in 4 colors like the iPhone 6S, including gold and rose gold. The device will receive an A9 processor, like the iPhone 6s, with an M9 coprocessor that enables activation of Siri by voice command from the mode and NFC chip for contactless payments. The 12-megapixel camera will provide the same quality of photos and videos (including in 4K resolution) as the iPhone 6s, and will also help you take “live photos”. Will also be updated cellular modem devices and a chip that enables Wi-Fi.

The new iPhone will not have time to influence the level of iPhone sales in the first calendar quarter of this year, but in the next, “spring” quarter, its contribution to the final financial indicators may be more noticeable. By at least, Apple hopes so. The company expects that many users postponed the purchase new iPhones 6 and 6s, because they stubbornly wanted the most compact smartphone with a 4-inch screen, but not inferior in capabilities to flagships. It is expected that the new product will cost $450 or $500 in the US for models with 16 and 64 GB of memory, respectively.

"Small" iPad Pro

To continue the line of “mid-size” tablets with a 9.7 diagonal screen inches Apple decided not to “pump” iPad Air 2, presented the year before last, and reduce . Due to the more powerful hardware and battery, the gadget will be somewhat thicker and heavier than the iPad Air 2. The price will likely increase - up to $600 for the base model with 32 GB of internal memory and without a cellular module.

The new iPad, like its 12.9-inch predecessor, will have 4 speakers in the corners of the body, providing more natural and louder sound. Also similar to a “professional” tablet is the A9X processor, 4 GB random access memory and more bright screen same as iPad Air, resolutions, stylus support Apple Pencil. The mid-size iPad will also feature a smart connector that provides connection to keyboard covers and other accessories.

On September 12, the traditional autumn festival ended in Cupertino. Apple presentation, where the company presented brand new products. As expected, these are three new iPhones, Apple Watch 3 and Apple TV 4K.

For the first time in history iPhone lines Got wireless charging. Retaining the dimensions of their predecessors, as well as standard 4.7- and 5.5-inch displays, the new iPhones are more similar to the iPhone 7S in terms of innovation. This is the new A11 chip, which is 70% faster than the previous one, stereo speakers (25% louder), as well as a 12 MP camera. Optical stabilization is now even standard iPhone versions 8, not just Plus. Smartphones are equipped with a function wireless charging, but a port for a Lightning cable is also present. Official sales will start on September 22. There will now be only two versions on sale in terms of memory capacity: 64 and 256 GB, priced at $699 and $849, respectively.

Main Apple flagship, the name of which has been confirmed, however, as Tim Cook himself noted, reads exactly like iPhone 10. The smartphone was deprived Home buttons body with 5.8-inch OLED display, latest processor A11, as well as the FaceID user identification system, which scans the user's face. The chance of hacking such a smartphone is one in a million. In addition, the device received AirPower wireless charging, but it will only be available for sale next year. Official iPhone sales X will launch on November 3, starting at $999 for the 64GB model.

The third generation of Apple Watch smart watches, as expected, acquired an LTE module that allows the installation of small SIM cards. The watch is no longer permanently tied to the iPhone and can be used separately. However, phone number will be exactly the same as iPhone owner. You can now call the watch itself. Wherein standard version without LTE will also remain on sale. Other improvements include: new platform with a dual-core processor, which will make the accessory 70% more powerful than its predecessor. The new product will run on WatchOS 4. The watch will be available at prices of $329 and $399 for models with GSM or LTE modules, respectively. Sales start – September 22.

The new generation Apple TV now supports 4K, as well as HDR. New model is equipped with 3 GB of RAM, and operates on the basis powerful processor Apple A10X Fusion. The hardware platform allows you to handle video playback at 60 frames per second, as well as run games. It will come with an upgraded Siri Remote. In addition, there are models with 32 and 64 GB of memory to choose from. Prices are $179 and $199 respectively.

A complete overview of all the new products presented by Apple at autumn presentation 2017, you will find in the new September issue of the magazine

Apple held spring presentation. True, of the expected new products, only one was presented - budget iPad with a screen diagonal of 9.7 inches. And all other announcements concerned software and educational initiatives. In fact, the topic of using Apple technologies in schools became the main topic of the event.

The fact that Apple would focus on education was clear even before the event - by the name itself (see illustration above). In addition, the image of an apple and the font clearly hinted that some announcements would be related to the Apple Pencil and, therefore, the iPad. But in other respects, most analysts were wrong. Some of them were expecting a cheaper MacBook. Others suggested that Apple would finally update the iPhone SE (the previous one, remember, came out two years later). Finally, there have been speculations that not one, but two iPads will be released.

But all these hopes were in vain. Apple really focused on the topic of education, but presented its developments in this area in all areas - from hardware and software to services and integrated solutions.

Tim Cook at the Apple presentation

Let's analyze the main thing in detail, weeding out marketing and what was already known. Let's start our story, of course, with the new iPad.

iPad

In fact, the cheaper iPad is not some special innovation. Let's remember: exactly a year ago, in the spring of 2017, Apple released the iPad, which in Russian retail was sold for about 25 thousand rubles (with a minimum memory capacity of 32 GB). The new iPad will cost exactly the same (for a similar version), and in general its concept is similar: these are components from the previous generation, a worse camera, less RAM... But there is one thing important difference: The new iPad supports the Apple Pencil.

Let's look at the main characteristics of the new product and compare them with other Apple tablets of a similar size.

Of course, it’s difficult to say anything for sure before “live” testing, but we have an assumption that the body and screen remain the same as the 2017 iPad. Actually, only the SoC and the battery have been replaced (this can be seen from the slightly changed capacity), and stylus support has been added at the firmware level.

Previously, the lack of a stylus was fundamental difference Pro versions, but when the iPad Pro 10.5 went on sale, replacing the iPad Pro 9.7, the gap between the two lines (inexpensive iPad and expensive iPad Pro) widened. This allowed Apple to change tactics and still add budget model stylus support. Still, most of the other characteristics of the iPad Pro 10.5 are better - even though it came out last year. In particular, the new iPad does not support a keyboard Smart Keyboard— it does not have the required connector, like its predecessor.

One way or another, in terms of the totality of characteristics and at a price of 25 thousand rubles (and for schools and students - 24 thousand) this is a very attractive offer. And, by the way, it can significantly expand the audience of Apple Pencil users, which is also a plus for the manufacturer.

The new product is not yet available for order in the Russian online store (although there is a corresponding page), but it is already on sale in the United States, and given that the previous iPad also appeared in Russia without much delay, we can expect that the new iPad will be available for purchase in April.

iWork update

The assumption that Apple has decided to take serious steps towards popularizing its Pencil stylus is confirmed by the changes announced at the presentation office applications for iPad - Pages, Numbers and Keynote. Having updated all components of the iWork package to version 4.0, Apple added stylus support to them. It is significant that the macOS versions were also updated at the same time - to 7.0.

So what can you do now? The main thing is that you can draw directly inside these applications, and also add handwritten notes, which will then be available in the corresponding application for macOS.

Updates are now available for download. We couldn’t test the innovations in detail, but we made our first acquaintance. Indeed, now if you press the stylus on any place in the document and hold it slightly, an empty block will appear inside the text where you can draw. The block size is changeable, all standard tools are available for drawing.

As for commenting, this feature is still in beta, and, by the way, we were never able to launch it using the stylus. However, you can use the menu on the right top corner and enable smart annotation there (that’s what this function is called).

Next we draw directly on top of the text. In general, I can’t say that this is something revolutionary; competitors have similar things, but I’m glad that they are now available in iWork for iPad. And, what’s especially nice, if we open the saved file on a MacBook or iMac, we will see exactly the same location of all the marks there. Compare: first - a screenshot from an iPad, then - from a MacBook.

As you can see, all the notes have been preserved in the smallest detail.

Another one new opportunity, now only related to Pages - creating interactive EPUB books. Here, however, it is very difficult to say anything without deep immersion, but I would like to remind you that the previous Apple solution in this domain - free application iBooks Author for macOS did not receive any noticeable distribution (at least in our country), although the idea was good.

To be honest, it's hard to imagine that anyone will seriously use Pages to create interactive books, but as they say, so be it. Moreover, this can be useful just for educational purposes. And here we come to the third group of announcements from the past presentation.

Software for education

So, Apple presented a whole complex software solutions, aimed at use in schools and designed to facilitate the “digital” interaction of teachers and students, as well as allowing third party developers create your own applications for this area.

True, unlike iWork updates, they are not yet available and will appear, apparently, only in the summer (after WWDC). Plus, this is a very specific area, and there’s absolutely no way to do this without diving into the material, but we will still list the announced new products and try to briefly comment on them, based on the available information.

First of all, this is the “Creativity for Everyone” program. It includes a number of free learning resources, as well as teaching aids, with the help of which “teachers can easily introduce elements of drawing, music, photography and videography into any topics, lessons and assignments being studied.” The program contains teacher and student guides, lesson plans, ideas and examples that teachers can use to “inject creativity and interaction into subjects such as native language, mathematics, physics and history.”

It sounds tempting, but let's see how it functions. For now, the Apple Teacher resource, through which access to the program is provided, is not available in our country.

Another new feature is the Tasks app (again, for both iOS and macOS). It is designed to help teachers develop and assign assignments to students, monitor their completion and apply them in educational process capabilities of other applications. Apparently it's something like electronic journal and environment for collaboration simultaneously. Moreover, Apple provides access to the Assignments functionality to third-party developers through the ClassKit API.

And the third innovation. The Classroom app, previously available on iPad, will now be available on Mac. It is needed for remote control student tablets.

Finally, for educational institutions will be intended to administer Apple School Manager. With its help you can control Apple devices And Accounts Student Apple IDs. But, unfortunately, we definitely won’t be able to try this, so we’ll refrain from commenting.

conclusions

Apple's spring presentation left a mixed feeling. If you remove beautiful words and ideas aimed at the future, and highlight only what is potentially interesting here and now for everyone Apple users, then the bottom line will be a boring update of the budget iPad and a less boring, but nevertheless not particularly large-scale update of office applications.

Of course, we'll test the iPad as soon as possible and perhaps tell you more about iWork's software innovations then. And yet, the overall picture here is very predictable. And it is unlikely that such, in general, not the most significant announcements could become a topic for a presentation - remember that a year ago Apple released a budget iPad without any presentations at all, although it just became a new word in the line Apple tablets(at least in terms of positioning and idea).

Then what is all this for? Obviously, it is precisely for the sake of the educational component. And here, on the one hand, the emerging prospects are very intriguing - if Apple takes this area seriously, there may be dramatic shifts towards more active and productive use digital technologies. But on the other hand, living in Russia, we understand that the introduction of such innovations here will be very difficult - for a number of reasons, and this is definitely not a matter of the near future. But, nevertheless, it is gratifying that the largest company in the world has paid close attention to this difficult, but such an important area. Who knows, maybe this step will ultimately turn out to be more important for humanity and the IT industry than the release of another device, even one with more interesting characteristics than the new iPad.

Apple's biggest September event is just around the corner, so what will the company be showing off? Presentation 2017 September, what new will they release? We wrote all the rumors on September 12th.

Leaks and rumors have generously informed us that we will see three new iPhones: the 8 and iPhone 8 Plus, a gradual upgrade to the current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, as well as an all-new iPhone X, an all-new, smaller design that will leave the good old scanner fingerprints in favor new system 3D facial recognition. The iPhone X (pronounced iPhone Ten, the same way Mac OS X is pronounced Mac OS Ten) is also expected to be a truly luxury device with a starting price of $1,000.

But since Apple is an iPhone-centric company, there's more to its story than just Hardware. There will be one more thing in the form of a new announcement for the Apple Watch Series 3, which will be about incremental improvements rather than a global update. This new watch is expected to connect to LTE so it can be more independent and self-sufficient for those times when you're out biking, running or swimming and don't want or can't take your phone with you. So let's recap everything we can expect from Apple on September 12th.

Apple's iPhone X will be the star of the show, but it alone will be very limited in terms of availability.

Here are 10 new ones iPhone functions X:

  1. New, dimensionless design
  2. Rear and front glass, metal frame
  3. 5.8" OLED display with 2.17:1 aspect ratio
  4. Notch cutout, interface adapted to it
  5. 3D Face Unlock, no fingerprint scanner finger touch ID
  6. System Apple chip A11, 3 GB RAM
  7. Improved dual pixel camera, improved portrait mode
  8. Wireless charging support
  9. Additional memory: basic model 128 GB
  10. Price of a thousand dollars

The big change will center around the new display, so let's take a closer look at this new screen: 5.8-inch OLED display with a very tall and narrow aspect ratio of 2.17 to 1. It's the first OLED screen in an iPhone, and it's interesting , because the technology is very different from LCD. Instead of using a separate backlight for the entire screen, each individual pixel on an OLED display can be turned on and off, resulting in perfect blacks and much higher contrasts, as well as punchy, visually impressive colors and excellent viewing angles. The common problem with shadow artifacts that can appear after months of use on an OLED screen has also been addressed by Apple. And this new cutout will contain the camera and all the advanced facial recognition sensors needed.

Speaking of facial recognition, the technology is expected to be much faster and more accurate than iris scanning, which is currently used on Android phones such as Samsung. What shows the level of accuracy is that the new 3D facial scanning will even be used for payment authentication, Apple is confident of its unbreakable security.

All this and more is coming in the form of iPhone X, the tenth anniversary of the iPhone. It's a luxury, a thousand dollar price tag, but it's sure to scare a lot of buyers, which is why Apple also has...

Apple iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus: review, price, characteristics

Leaked as an incremental upgrade from the current iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, the other two new iPhones are now called iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. Why not iPhone 7s and 7s Plus? Good question: the reason may be that they will also carry new design iPhone X in part, and we mean back glass, not a screen without a screen. The glass back will also provide support for wireless charging on these two phones. More details about .

Here the list of supported features will include the new chip Apple systems A11 with 2 GB of RAM on the iPhone 8 and 3 GB of RAM on the iPhone 8 Plus. The main difference between the two will remain the screen size: a 4.7-inch screen on the iPhone 8 and a 5.5-inch screen on the iPhone 8 Plus. Also camera, since dual camera with support portrait mode will only be present on the iPhone 8 Plus.

Right now we are looking at the possibility that there will be four color options for the iPhone X, rather than the three as originally expected. That is, if the video found at the top of the story is legit. Will red be one of the colors? best options colors for iPhone X? As we told you this morning, the Gold model may be hard to find now that the tenth anniversary edition has officially launched iPhone model. This is rumored to take place on September 22. It is assumed that pre-orders will begin on September 15. We'll see everything because the Apple presentation 2017 September 12th is tomorrow!

So far, we have seen dummy iPhone X models in white, gold and black. However, a new video discovered today indicates that there may be a red version of the premium tenth anniversary iPhone. The video appears to have been filmed inside the salon. Of course, tomorrow will be a big day, as the most anticipated iPhone model for years is finally being rolled out by Apple after months of rumors and leaks.

Memory iPhone X iPhone 8 iPhone 8 Plus
64GB $ 1000 $ 650 $ 770
128GB $ 1 100 $ 750 $ 870
256GB $ 1200 $ 850 $ 970

Apple Presentation 2017 September – iOS 11 and ARKit

Much of Apple's DNA in innovation lies in software, and iOS 11 is a prime example of this. IN latest version iOS has a completely redesigned control center with much more convenient toggles and sliders for easier control. This is also for iPad device, which adds a dock for better multitasking. See: new and macOS Sierra for iPhone, iPad and Mac.

But the feature that most people talk about is, of course, ARKit. Easy update software will allow iPhone 6s, iPhone SE, and all subsequent iPhones to support augmented reality. We've already seen initial implementations of ARKit: it's used to measure distances quickly and accurately. It's used for furniture placement and how it will scale and appear in your room (there's even an ARKit-enabled IKEA app). Some truly futuristic implementations, such as tracking sound in space. We are waiting for details because the Apple presentation 2017 September 12th is tomorrow!

Apple Presentation 2017 September – Apple Watch Series 3

The new Apple Watch Series 3 will be the other major new gadget unveiled at the event.

The Series 3 will add 4G LTE connectivity to the watch, so you can do more on the watch without having to have your phone.

The only thing that is unlikely to be supported is phone calls on the watch regardless of the iPhone (and that's a bummer). For everything else, you should receive notifications about in social networks without a tethered iPhone.

From a design perspective, initial rumors of a complete change in shape factor have been stopped, and now we'll likely see the familiar rectangular body developed. We also hope to see improved battery life in the third Apple series Watch.

Apple Presentation 2017 September – HomePod

Apple introduced the HomePod Siri speaker in June this year, but we know little about the release date of this speaker. More details:: Price, characteristics, release date.

We know that the Apple HomePod will provide superior sound quality and be a music product. Which is said to be superior to the popular ones wireless speakers, such as the Sonos series.

We'll likely hear more about HomePod availability and capabilities soon.

Apple Presentation 2017 September – Apple TV with 4K

Last but not least, the project Apple television, is moving forward with a much-needed step forward: Apple TV with 4K support.

The company has previously stated that it believes apps are the future of television, so we're curious to see how it moves in that direction, and the introduction of crisp 4K resolutions is certainly another positive development. Don't miss out, because the Apple presentation 2017 September 12th is tomorrow!
