How to register and start using Twitter (Twitter)
Everyone has probably heard of Twitter. This is a microblogging service originally created for messaging. This note tells how to register on Twitter, how to get followers (subscribers), how to write messages, customize the appearance of your page, etc.
For example, we will create a new account on Twitter, with a step-by-step explanation of what to do and how to do it, but first some general information: Twitter appeared in 2006. Its founder is American programmer Jack Dorsey, who at first just wanted to create a platform for instant messaging with his friends, but the project quickly became popular and its audience at the beginning of 2011 already numbered more than 200 million users around the planet.
The essence of this service is the exchange of short messages (up to 140 characters). The message you write (tweet, post) is instantly distributed to all users who follow you.
Moreover, you can communicate even from a mobile phone. Someone posts news, someone offers any services, makes announcements, but someone just tells what he is doing at the moment. You choose those who are of interest to you, and subscribe to their messages (begin to "read" them), but first things first.
* Twitter registration
First thing Go to the Twitter site. On this page, we need to click on the "Register" button.
Then we are redirected to the registration page.
Fill in all fields:
- First Name Last Name
- Email address (real, you will need to confirm)
- Password (will be used to log into your account)
- Username (in Latin letters, if you select an already taken one, a warning will appear on the right)

Now we get to the welcome page. We press "Next".
We are redirected to a new page, where it is proposed to start “reading” popular users. As you can see, there is Britney Spears, Vika Daineko, and so on. To start following someone, you just need to click on the "Follow" button next to the name.
Let's say we started following 5 users from the proposed list, as recommended (in the future, you can always unsubscribe from them). Their tweets immediately appear in our feed on the right. In the upper column, the inscription "Excellent" appears, and we click "Next".
On the next page, we are again offered to subscribe, but we have enough for now, click "Skip" at the very bottom.
Now we are offered find friends on Twitter using our accounts in various email services. We will always make it. Click "Skip", and on the next page there is an opportunity to add your photo (or avatar, logo, etc.), which will be displayed next to your tweets and in your profile. I'll probably use it. Click on "Upload image" and specify the location of the image on your computer.
Just below the photo, there is an opportunity to drop a couple of lines (up to 160 characters) about yourself (website, company, depending on what the account was created for.) Then click "Finish". I got it like this:
This completes the registration, it remains only to confirm the email address, judging by the announcement at the top of the page. We open the mailbox that was indicated during registration, and follow the link sent to us in a message from Twitter.
Now it's time to embellish our page a little, at least change the default blue background to something of our own.
* How to change the background on Twitter
We go to the settings by clicking on the little man symbol at the top and selecting the "Settings" item.
We get to the settings page of our account. On this page, we can edit the profile, password, phone number, etc. But now we need the "Design" item.
The design settings page opens. our microblog. Here you can choose a theme option from those offered, or upload your own background using the "Choose file" button. However, first you need to find and download a new background for our twitter.
We go to the site www.twitterevolutions.com (copy the address, paste it into the address bar of the browser and press "Enter"). This site presents to everyone a collection of backgrounds for Twitter. All backgrounds are divided by theme in the menu on the right. After wandering around the site a little, you will definitely find a background to your taste.
After the background is selected, click on the selected picture, then click on the Download background link (download background) a little lower.
The picture opens in full size. Press the right mouse button on it - "Save image as ...". Specify the folder in the explorer in which we want to place it and click "Save".
Then again we go to the page for editing the design of our twitter, click on the "Choose file" button and indicate in the explorer the image downloaded in the previous step - "Open".
Then click on "Save Changes". Done, your Twitter profile background has been changed. It is not necessary to take a picture for the background from the site described above, you can choose absolutely any picture on the Internet for this. Also on the design page, you can set the color of the links ("Links") and choose, if desired, a solid color for filling the background ("Background").

* How to use Twitter
By selecting “Show my profile” at the top, you can edit your profile and fill in additional information about yourself. It is possible to specify your site.
The first step is to find people and tweets that match your interests. Enter a keyword or phrase that reflects your interests in the search bar at the top, click on the magnifying glass icon next to it, and you will see a lot of tweets that match your interests.
When you hover over any tweet, a menu appears below that allows you to:
- expand tweet (show full view)
- reply to a tweet (say something to the person who wrote this message)
- retweet (post this tweet from your account)
- bookmark
- ... Tweet - How many tweets (messages) he wrote
- Follows - how many users he follows (how many users he follows)
- Followers - how many users read it (followers)
Twitter is usually about reciprocity. That is, if you started reading a person, then there is a high probability that he will also subscribe to you (become your follower), unless, of course, this is some kind of star.
Your goal is to get as many followers as possible - those who will read you. Follow yourself as many people of interest as possible, many will reciprocate. It is not recommended to follow more than 200 accounts per day. The case may end in a ban. Write interesting tweets and people will subscribe to you.
To write a tweet, you just need to enter text in the field under the avatar and click "Tweet". So far, only 1 person is reading me, who reciprocated from the five that I followed earlier, which means that only he alone will see our tweet, and of course we ourselves.
If you want to unsubscribe from someone, go to his page, hover over the "Following" button, the word "Cancel" will appear, which you must click on.
