How to manually remove a program that won't uninstall. How to properly remove a program from your computer

To make sure that any program can be removed from your computer, you need to read the article completely and carefully. Before we start figuring out how to remove a program from Windows computer 7, XP or 8, we must first mention the standard procedure, since perhaps insecure computer users do not know how this is done.

Removing programs is possible without installation additional programs To do this, go to "Start" - "Settings" - "Control Panel" - "Add or Remove Programs" (Windows XP), and for other versions, "Start" - "Control Panel" - "Uninstall a program" - standard method for uninstalling programs.

But when deleting in this way, there is a possibility that registry entries and folders will remain on the system. In a word, garbage that will remain on your device. This data can cause crashes, system freezes, and of course they take up space on your hard drive.

To solve this problem we will use free program Revo Uninstaller, which will quickly remove the program and even the program that cannot be removed in the standard way. Revo Uninstaller good addition to the system, because with this utility you will remove non-deletable programs with created registry entries, folders, settings files, and more. Below, I will talk about how to remove a program that cannot be removed, even when it is not on the list for removal.

Now let's get down to action, install the program and I will show you how to remove the program using this utility. You can download the program.

Installing Revo Uninstaller to remove programs

After downloading the program, run it installation file. Select “Russian” and click “OK”.

Check the box “I accept the terms of the agreement.” Click “Next”.

Click “Install”.

The program is installed on your computer. Click “Finish”.

How to use Revo Uninstaller

After installation, launch the program, and the main program window will open on the screen. You will need to wait a little while the program collects data about the programs that are installed on your computer. After a few seconds, the program is ready to work, now select the program you want to delete and click the “Delete” button, which is located in the top horizontal menu. Using the AIMP player as an example, I will clearly show what to do if the program is not removed from the computer. Select AIMP with the left mouse button and click the “Delete” button.

The program will ask you to confirm the deletion, click “YES”.

In the next window you need to select the uninstallation mode. There are 4 types of modes in this program: built-in, safe, medium and advanced. We choose advanced, as it performs a deep analysis of the registry, folders and program links. This mode slower than everyone else, be patient. Click “Next”.

The program will analyze and launch built-in program uninstaller, which is built into AIMP. If you are prompted to click “Next”, “Next”, “Uninstall”, “OK”, or anything similar, then feel free to click. If you do not have a built-in uninstaller, then you need to go another way, which is described below (Hunting Mode). After you have uninstalled the program, you need to click “Next” to search for files, folders and registry entries.

On average, scanning takes approximately 10 to 60 seconds, depending on the amount of information being processed. When scanning is completed, click “Next”.

When scanning: registry entries, files and folders, they may not be detected, which means that the uninstaller has worked 100 percent of its function. If the scanner finds entries in the registry, check the “My Computer” checkbox. Click the “Delete” button and click “Next”.

In the screenshot above, we only deleted branches and settings in the registry, but we delete shortcuts, folders and data in the next step. To delete the data found by the scanner, click “Select all”, so as not to put a checkmark next to each line, click “Delete”, and then last step"Further".

The removal procedure is completed, click “Finish”.

If the program is not in the list for uninstalling programs (Hunting mode)

It happens that a program is not in the list, but is in the tray or there are pop-up windows for a program that needs to be removed. Especially for such cases, Revo Uninstaller has a “Hunting Mode” function, which often saves me.

Attention! Sometimes when you aim the crosshair at a program to be deleted, it triggers falsely. That is, point at the program that you want to delete, and a message appears that you are about to delete a completely different application or this action is impossible. In this case, you need to try to find other windows to use the hunting mode.

How to work with “Hunting Mode”

To switch to “hunting mode”, you need to click on “Hunting mode” in the program window.

The program window will automatically be minimized and in the right top corner A blue crosshair will appear on the desktop, which you need to point at the program while holding the left mouse button.

We aim at a shortcut, message, window, tray icon, in short, at any program object. Letting go left button mouse, you will be offered a choice; in our case, to remove the program, click “Uninstall”.

To finish this review of this program, I’ll tell you a little about the additional features of Revo Uninstaller.

The program contains tools for optimizing Windows:

  • Windows Instrumentation - allows you to start services on the system .
  • Cleaner Not necessary files— removal of temporary files, browsers and Microsoft Office.

If you can’t remove the program, you can try this manually. Check out the following article: "".

Tell me in detail about the work additional features I won’t, they are easy to use and have a Russian description.

Order in the computer is the key to user well-being - no glitches, maximum performance. And it’s visually clear where which file is located, what programs are installed, and what they are for.

But if, on the contrary, chaos reigns on PC disks... this is definitely a problem. But, fortunately, it is fixable. Any obscenity (files and folders, unnecessary programs) can be removed from your computer manually and using special utilities. For information on how to properly and quickly clean hard drives, read this article.

All in one fell swoop, out of sight...

Before globally deleting everything on your computer, you must, of course, first look at all the partitions one more time. Suddenly, somewhere in a folder, there was something useful: photos, videos, text files with passwords and logins, reports or other valuable documents.

Remember Plyushkin from the book “Dead Souls” by N.V. Gogol? Well, mountains, or rather tens and hundreds of gigabytes, of seemingly useful, but seemingly useless content on the disks of your PC clearly indicate that you are very similar to this literary hero...

Books, films, TV series, huge software distributions, games that are not particularly needed take up precious free space. disk space. And they also burden the user with the need to constantly increase it when something else needs to be loaded.

1. Right-click on the file or folder you want to destroy. And then in context menu click "Delete".

Removing software using special utilities

(instructions for using Soft Organizer)
If for some reason a useless application cannot be removed from the PC in the standard way, or you want to perform a more thorough cleaning of disk directories, it is more advisable to use uninstaller programs (for example, Revo Uninstaller, Uninstall Tool). They not only remove software elements, but also neutralize their remains in other folders in the system registry.

Let's consider the uninstallation option using the Soft Organizer utility:

1. Click on the application you want to remove in the software catalog.

2. Click the “Uninstall a program” button.

3. Perform a standard uninstallation, and then remove the remains of the application (follow the prompts of Soft Organizer).

Happy cleaning! Don't be lazy, your diligence and efforts will pay off handsomely. The computer will work faster, you will spend a minimum of time searching for useful data in the directories of disk partitions.

Most users are familiar with how to properly remove an unnecessary program, using its uninstaller or using standard utility MS Windows Programs and Features.

But in some cases, achieving the goal is not easy - the application is either not removed, or is removed, but not completely, leaving traces of its presence on the computer. We will talk about solving this issue in our article.

Installing and uninstalling programs

Most applications, in addition to the installer, i.e. auxiliary program, with which the main software is installed, have an uninstaller, i.e., by analogy with the previous definition, helper utility, with which, if necessary, main program may be deleted.

Some programs do not have an uninstaller and must be removed using other tools and programs.

Why can't I just delete the file from the Program Files directory?

The thing is that in addition to installation in this catalog, individual software components (libraries, settings files, shortcuts, etc.) are located in other directories of the operating system, and also form one or more entries in the system registry.

The uninstaller's task is to delete all files created by the program, incl. and registry entries, and bring the operating system to the state it was before installation.

What to do if you can't remove the program?

There are times when an application cannot be uninstalled - an error window appears on the screen and the uninstallation process is interrupted.

The first thing you need to do if you cannot remove the software regular means, this will make sure that this program, closed and not working. Most errors occur for this reason, and not because of a program error.

If you are sure that you have closed the application, it would be a good idea to look in the system tray, where it may be in standby mode.

Note! Sometimes, even after closing they still remain working background processes and the services that provided the work. In this case, you need to restart your computer and immediately after logging in, begin uninstalling the program.

Therefore, before rebooting, you should go to the “Startup” menu (or the settings of the program itself) and inquire whether the program to be deleted is in its list.

If all of the above methods failed to solve the problem, then we recommend downloading special software with which you can remove any application.

Revo Uninstaller

Revo Uninstaller has paid (Pro) and free (Free) options.

The license price varies (the minimum price is $39) and depends on many factors, with detailed information information on this issue can be found in the corresponding section of the official website.

To get acquainted with the full functionality, the developer offers to download the trial (30 days) version of Revo Uninstaller Pro.

The program is compatible with all latest versions OS MS Windows, incl. Windows 8.1 is multilingual (Russian language support is implemented), and also has full compatibility with 64-bit systems.

The utility generates a list of all installed programs and provides them in the form of a list to the user immediately after its launch.

Interesting feature is “Hunter Mode” (use the “View” menu to enable this feature). This mode is necessary when you do not know the name of the program that needs to be removed.

After moving to this menu A crosshair image appears on the screen; by pointing the crosshair at the elements (windows, icons, shortcuts) of the program, you can find out its name, remove it from the Startup menu, or completely uninstall it.

Supports 3 uninstallation methods: quick, standard and forced. Regardless of the item selected, before removing Revo Uninstaller will create backup point restoration, incl. and for system registry.

The backup manager is used to work with backups.

The next feature that I would like to draw your attention to is the ability to install programs under the control of the so-called Revo Uninstaller. Tracking mode. This approach ensures that when you uninstall a program, all of its components will be removed.

In order to enable this function, you need to right-click on the program installer and select “Install from” from the context menu. using Revo Uninstaller".

In addition to the ability to remove programs, the utility has a number of useful functions: startup manager, cleaning system garbage, ability complete removal data without the possibility of recovery.

In general, the application has many positive qualities (several uninstallation modes, additional utilities, scan mode file system and registry) and, perhaps, one significant drawback in the form of a limitation of useful functionality for wireless paid version.

IObit Uninstaller

Unlike most of its competitors, the utility IObit Uninstaller is completely free and does not require installation, which allows you to store and run it directly from a flash drive.

The program supports the Russian language and the ability to work with all modern versions MS Windows, incl. and Windows 10.

The utility supports 2 application removal modes - standard and advanced. When you select advanced uninstallation, the program searches for elements (files, registry keys) remaining after uninstalling the program.

Since the utility is portable, there is no installation monitoring feature.

IObit Uninstaller supports the function of batch uninstalling programs; to do this, you need to mark the desired programs with a checkbox.

Before each deletion, the program makes a backup recovery point, which is managed through the center Windows recovery. Each fact of uninstallation is recorded in the log.

The program copes well with the tasks assigned to it, however, one of the disadvantages is the lack of support for installation monitoring.

Uninstall Tool

Uninstall Tool is a small utility that, nevertheless, has quite good functionality: uninstalling programs that cannot be removed by built-in programs using Windows, deleting entries from the system registry, Startup menu manager, installation monitoring support.

To clean up traces of the use of certain programs, the “Removal Wizard” is used.

However, this function is available only in the paid version of the program, and in the free version the user can only view the remaining traces of using the program that were not deleted during uninstallation.

The price of a license depends on its type and is $25 for a personal license and $40 for a portable license, which can be installed on several computers.

To summarize, we will say that the program is quite functional and convenient, but, unfortunately, most of the useful functions of the program are not available in its free version.

However, by setting free version, the user gets the ability to remove hidden components and a monitoring mode.

How to remove a program from Total Uninstall

In principle, there is nothing to say about this program, since the interface and capabilities are similar to Uninstall Toot or Revo Uninstall. But there is one possibility that distinguishes it from those indicated - this is the transfer of installed programs to another PC. The utility analyzes the system, then creates a backup copy, which includes not only files and folders, but also registry entries. To restore this copy, you need to install Total Uninstall.

conclusions

Undoubtedly, there are many other programs for removing other programs. Uninstallers, unlike the standard feature in Windows, completely rid your computer of unnecessary files and records, so you should not miss this opportunity.

If you do not clean the system in time, the consequences are obvious - with Windows time will slow down, errors may occur, and this in turn greatly affects the user’s productivity in any activity.

We'll have a lot of work to do in this lesson! We will get rid of those that are NOT needed, - unnecessary programs.

If you have been using a computer for a long time, have installed different programs, or if someone has installed programs for you, then this lesson will help you put things in order when it comes to different programs.

In the last lesson, we talked about the need to clean the computer from various “garbage”, i.e. from accumulated unnecessary files and records. The same applies to programs. Many users may have a bunch of programs installed on their computer that are either very rarely or never used.

Or maybe several are installed similar programs, for example, several video or audio players, which means some of them are not necessary at all.

For low-power computers and/or for computers with few free space, - getting rid of unnecessary programs will be very helpful. And in this lesson we'll do that.

First there will be theory. Then, as always, a practical task.

Theoretical part

Many novice users use Incorrect deletion programs from a computer. They understand where a program was installed on the computer (for example, by default in the folder Program Files on the system drive, which was mentioned in the first lesson) and when some program is no longer needed, simply find the folder with the files of this program and delete it:

Of course, in this way, most of the files of this uninstalled program will be deleted. But, at the same time, there may still be some files on the computer that were placed in other places on the computer when installing the program (besides the Program Files folder). And if they are not removed too, then they can interfere proper operation computer.

For example, visibly This may affect the performance of the computer when many programs have been uninstalled incorrectly.

So in this tutorial we will first talk about correct removal programs from a computer. Let's look at removing programs first. using standard methods, available without installation additional funds on correct removal of programs.

And then let's talk about even more reliable and convenient way uninstalling programs using the CCleaner program you already have, which we used in the last lesson.

1. Removalprograms through the Start menu

If, when installing a program, it was specified in the installation settings that shortcuts for launching the program and its uninstallation (removal) should also be placed in the Start menu, then you can uninstall the program through the uninstall shortcut (if it is present there).

As an example, let's take a look at the shortcuts in the Start menu of some installed programs. Note that some programs ( AIMP3 And Any Video Converter ) there are uninstallation files Uninstall. When you click on this uninstall shortcut, the removal of the selected program will begin, and you just need to follow the suggested steps:

But we also see that some programs ( 7-Zip And avast! Free Antivirus ) there are no shortcuts for removing them from the computer.

Therefore, you need to use some other way to remove programs.

Let's move on to consider the second method of removing programs from a computer - through Program Files.

2. Removalprograms through the Program Files folder

Programs are installed where we specify them during installation, and usually this is in the folder Program Files on the system disk, i.e. on the disk where the operating system is installed.

Let's find, for example, a folder with files 7-Zip archiver. IN in this case The file that triggers the removal of this program from the computer is designated as: uninstall.exe:

Other programs may have something similar: uninstal.exe, uninst.exeunins.exe or something similar, where there is a mention of uninstallation ( uninstall) with extension added at the end .exe.

To delete not the desired program, just click on this file and follow the suggested removal steps, usually you just need to confirm that you want to remove this program.

As we can see from the example of this 7-Zip program, we did not find the option to delete it in the Start menu, but in the folder Program Files she is.

But for some programs, even in this folder we may not find the option to delete them. So, for example, at avast! Free Antivirus we do not find either the uninstall shortcut in the Start menu or the uninstal file in the folder Program Files.

How then to remove such programs?

For example, this can be done using special Windows tools for removing programs.

3. Removalprograms via Control Panel

Go through the Start menu to Control Panel:

After this, a list of programs installed on the computer will be provided, in which we can select the program that we want to remove and click on the link Delete/Change, and then confirm the deletion:

As you can see, in this case we have already found how to remove a program when it is not possible to remove it using one of the first two methods described above.

We used all these three methods without installation on the computer. additional applications. And any of these methods is, of course, better than simply deleting the folder with all installed files programs, like this:

In general, I’ll mention again that it’s wrong to delete it this way! It is better to use one of the above methods. But, it’s even better (more convenient and efficient) to remove programs using special programs, which we’ll talk about later.

4. Freeprogram for uninstalling programs

According to some experienced users, standard deletion in the above methods, it is still not sufficient to completely remove all files related to the program being deleted. Therefore it is recommended to use special programs(free) type CCleaner or Revo Uninstaller.

Revo Uninstaller is a little more difficult to use for novice users than CCleaner. And since you already have CCleaner installed, all that remains is to consider how to remove programs using it.

In CCleaner, go to the section Service -> Uninstalling programs, select the program you want to remove, click on Uninstallation and confirm the deletion:

Note: Please note that there is also a button Delete. This function deletes the selected program only from this list installed programs, but the program itself still remains on the computer. So, to remove a program from your computer, use only the button Uninstallation.

Remove programs this way (with using CCleaner) is more convenient and effective than the above methods. But it’s still useful to know about them.

5. What can be deleted and what cannot?

Of course, some people may have doubts about some programs whether to delete them or not. Someone will definitely think: “Now I’ll delete something and suddenly something will happen to the computer, for example, it will stop working normally.”

Indeed, this can happen, but only in cases where the user deletes something he doesn’t know! So here's a simple rule:

Never delete something you are not sure about!

How then do you know what can be deleted and what cannot?

Since there are a huge variety of different programs and everyone may have their own need for using certain programs, therefore there is no standard solution, which means that you need to analyze your installed programs.

How to do it?

As was said earlier in program CCleaner In chapter Service -> Uninstalling programs, a list of installed programs is displayed. There, programs installed on your computer can be organized by Name, To the publisher, Installation date And Size, which the program occupies on the computer.

For example, click on installation date and the entire list was sorted by the order in which the programs were installed from the very beginning to the end. Click on it again, and the programs that were most recently installed will go first:

These parameters can help determine what to delete and what not to delete.

  1. By name(Installed programs). Everything is simple here - by the names of the programs and the icons of these programs, you yourself can see the programs you are familiar with and decide whether you need them or not.
  2. Information from the column Publisher can also tell you for some programs what kind of program it is. For example, if the publisher is Microsoft Corporation, then you should pay attention to these programs, as they may be important (but not necessarily).
  3. Order by column installation date can help draw conclusions about when a particular program was installed. If it was installed recently, it means that the computer worked without it before. Or vice versa, if some programs are installed at the very beginning (immediately after installing the operating system), then they can be very important. For example, these can be programs related to the video card, sound card, webcam.
  4. And ordering to size It can also help to pay attention first to those programs that take up a lot of space.

Let's look at an example:

Let's say you bought a laptop secondhand and want to put things in order with regard to installed programs.

You also have your own printer, well, say, from Samsung. You no longer have any printers or scanners.

In the list of installed programs, did you notice that there is installed applications different devices manufacturer Canon. And thus, you understand that the person from whom you bought the laptop used one or more devices from Canon.

And since you don’t have these devices, you don’t need these programs. This means that you can safely get rid of them by deleting, i.e. uninstalling each one in turn:

If the system displays a message that to completely remove a program you need to restart the computer, you can agree to restart, that’s normal!

But what if some programs are not familiar to you?

In this case, you can simply use the search function in any browser and look on the Internet what programs you have installed on your computer and how important they are to you.

To do this, click on the program name right mouse button and select:

An additional window will appear with the program name highlighted. Right-click on it and select. The copied name will be in the Clipboard (in the temporary memory of the computer). Since we didn’t rename anything, we click Cancel:

Now we go to any browser that we use to view sites and in the search simply paste the copied name of the program ( right click ->Insert) and carry out a search.

The search engine will give you the answer and you can go to the very first answers and read what kind of program it is in order to have an idea whether you need it or not.

As a rule, in search engine already in the first issues of requests in brief description (1 ) it will be written what kind of program it is. If this information is not enough, you can follow the links provided ( 2 ) for more details:

Of course, if many programs are not familiar to you, then researching what each program means may take you a lot of time for the first time. But, on the other hand, you will know what programs are installed on your computer and will be able to get rid of unnecessary things with understanding.

Practical task for this lesson

Using the program CCleaner -> Service -> Uninstalling programs, analyze which programs you don’t need and remove them, i.e. uninstall their.

Once again I want to emphasize that if you doubt any action, then it is better not to do it.

If you don’t find out what kind of program it is, don’t delete it!

The information in this lesson only provides necessary knowledge and a guide on how you can find out the purpose of any program and remove it correctly. And now further decisions about the removal of certain programs - you decide personally!

Your report on this lesson

After completing the lesson, write about your results:

— How many programs have you gotten rid of?
— How easy/difficult was this lesson for you?

If in relation to any certain programs there are serious doubts about whether to delete them or not, i.e. if after research you couldn’t figure it out yourself, you can indicate them. Perhaps I know, or if I don’t know, then I’ll look for information about these programs myself and answer what they are intended for, so that you can decide whether they should be deleted or not.

But please indicate no more than 3 programs. After all, this is a training in which the main task: teach you to do everything yourself!
