Domain zone of the Tokelau Islands. How to register a .tk domain for free? History of the domain and promotion of the “.tk” zone

In this article we will tell you where to register a free top-level domain for your website on free hosting. The first level is the domain zone, so there is no “first” as such, you can buy, sell and register only a second-level domain. Sami domain zones introduced by the international organization ICANN.

Free domains are not ranked well by search engines.

For a small project, a presentation site or a business card site, free options are quite suitable, or, so to speak, temporarily.

It also happens that the top level domain you you receive upon registration hosting is free, we do not consider this option. Each hosting has its own privileges in this sense.

DOT.TK

The most affordable For us, a free domain is a domain in the .tk zone

Previously, the system was such that it was impossible to fully attach a name to a site by specifying the DNS server, you were only given a page with a redirect, now everything is different.

How do search engines treat the TK zone? It has already been written above that it is not the best way. I can’t say for sure whether Google and Yandex accept them at all; I myself have not seen sites with such addresses in search engines. If you have an answer to this question or opinion, write it in the comments.

FREENOM.COM

Are there any other free domain zones besides TK? Yes, we found Freenom. Here, in addition to .tk, .ml, .ga, .cf, .gq are available for free registration

Names in these zones can also be registered here:

CF – http://dot.cf/

GA – http://www.my.ga/

ML – http://www.point.ml/

Unfortunately, three of these services are in English, but you can handle it

There used to be other projects for registering free names, but today many of them have ceased to exist. And we are afraid that those indicated in this material will sink into oblivion.

Free third level domains

The picture would not be complete if we did not tell you where to register a third-level name.

uCoz initially allows you to choose domains at this level, but some, let’s say from experience, are not satisfied and change their minds to soap or even worse. For some reason, some people choose exactly this path, creating a website in the uCoz constructor, hiding hosting, although in fact it is necessary just make a good website.

Here is a fairly large list of services where you can register the name you need for free. Basically, it’s clear from the names which domain is being offered to you:

  • www.co.cc
  • www.co.tv
  • www.nic.cz.cc
  • www.uni.cc

As you understand, I am skeptical about free domains, and the saying about free cheese This is just the place. I advise you to study this issue more widely, because... I did not thoroughly examine this topic and much remained unsaid. Registration is not shown, but since the services are in Russian, and registration begins on the main page, I think you can handle it, follow the instructions on the site.

This Paragraph sets forth the type of disputes for which you are required to submit to a mandatory administrative proceeding. These proceedings will be conducted before one of the administrative-dispute-resolution service providers listed at

(a) Applicable Disputes. You are required to submit to a mandatory administrative proceeding in the event that a third party (a "complainant") asserts to the applicable Provider, in compliance with the Rules of Procedure, that

(i) your domain name is identical or confusingly similar to a trademark or service mark in which the complainant has rights; and

(ii) you have no rights or legitimate interests in respect of the domain name; and

(iii) your domain name has been registered and is being used in bad faith.

(iv) In the administrative proceeding, the complainant must prove that each of these three elements are present.

(b) Evidence of Registration and Use in Bad Faith. For the purposes of Paragraph 4(a)(iii), the following circumstances, in particular but without limitation, if found by the Panel to be present, shall be evidence of the registration and use of a domain name in bad faith:

(i) circumstances indicating that you have registered or you have acquired the domain name primarily for the purpose of selling, renting, or otherwise transferring the domain name registration to the complainant who is the owner of the trademark or service mark or to a competitor of that complainant, for valuable consideration in excess of your documented out-of pocket costs directly related to the domain name; or

(ii) you have registered the domain name in order to prevent the owner of the trademark or service mark from reflecting the mark in a corresponding domain name, provided that you have engaged in a pattern of such conduct; or

(iii) you have registered the domain name primarily for the purpose of disrupting the business of a competitor; or

(iv) by using the domain name, you have intentionally attempted to attract, for commercial gain, Internet users to your website or other on-line location, by creating a likelihood of confusion with the complainant"s mark as to the source, sponsorship, affiliation, or endorsement of your website or location or of a product or service on your website or location.

(c) How to Demonstrate Your Rights to and Legitimate Interests in the Domain Name in Responding to a Complaint. In the event of multiple disputes between you and a complainant, either you or the complainant may petition to consolidate the disputes before a single Administrative Panel. This petition shall be made to the first Administrative Panel appointed to hear a pending dispute between the parties. This Administrative Panel may consolidate before it any or all such disputes in its sole discretion, provided that the disputes being consolidated are governed by this Policy or a later version of this Policy adopted by ICANN.

(f)Fees. All fees charged by a Provider in connection with any dispute before an Administrative Panel pursuant to this Policy shall be paid by the complainant, except in cases where you elect to expand the Administrative Panel from one to three panelists as provided in Paragraph 5(b) (iv) of the Rules of Procedure, in which case all fees will be split evenly by you and the complainant.

(j) Availability of Court Proceedings. The mandatory administrative proceeding requirements set forth in Paragraph 4 shall not prevent either you or the complainant from submitting the dispute to a court of competent jurisdiction for independent resolution before such mandatory administrative proceeding is commenced or after such proceeding is concluded. If an Administrative Panel decides that your domain name registration should be canceled or transferred, Dot TK will wait ten (10) business days (as observed in the location of Dot TK"s principal office) after Dot TK is informed by the applicable Provider of the Administrative Panel's decision before implementing that decision. Dot TK will then implement the decision unless Dot TK has received from you during that ten (10) business day period official documentation (such as a copy of a complaint, file-stamped by the clerk of the court) that you have commenced a lawsuit against the complainant in a jurisdiction to which the complainant has submitted under Paragraph 3(b)(xiii) of the Rules of Procedure. (In general, that jurisdiction is either the location of our principal office or of your address as shown in our Whois database. See Paragraphs 1 and 3(b)(xiii) of the Rules of Procedure for details.) If Dot TK receives such documentation within the ten (10) business day period, Dot TK will not implement the Administrative Panel's decision, and Dot TK will take no further action, until Dot TK receives (i) evidence satisfactory to it of a resolution between the parties; (ii) evidence satisfactory to it that your lawsuit has been dismissed or withdrawn; or (iii) a copy of an order from such court dismissing your lawsuit or ordering that you do not have the right to continue to use your domain name.

5. All Other Disputes and Litigation.

All other disputes between you and any party other than Dot TK regarding your domain name registration that are not brought pursuant to the mandatory administrative proceeding provisions of Paragraph 4 shall be resolved between you and such other party through any court, arbitration or other proceeding that may be available.

6. Our Involvement in Disputes.

Dot TK reserves the right to cancel any transfer of a domain name registration to another holder that is made in violation of this subparagraph.

(b) Changing Registries. In the event that you transfer a domain name registration to Dot TK during a court action or arbitration, such dispute shall remain subject to the domain name dispute policy of the registrar from which the domain name registration was transferred.

9. Policy Modifications.

Dot TK reserves the right to modify this Policy at any time with the permission of ICANN. We will post our revised Policy on this website at least thirty (30) calendar days before it becomes effective. Unless this Policy has already been invoked by the submission of a complaint to a Provider, in which event the version of the Policy in effect at the time it was invoked will apply to you until the dispute is over, all such changes will be binding upon you with respect to any domain name registration dispute, whether the dispute arose before, on or after the effective date of our change. In the event that you object to a change in this Policy, your sole remedy is to cancel your domain name registration with Dot TK, provided that you will not be entitled to a refund of any fees you paid to Dot TK. The revised Policy will apply to you until you cancel your domain name registration.

Zone.tk - national domain of the Tokelau Islands, which, in order to increase the prestige and recognition of this territory, was made free for registration. It is not the only one of its kind - for “thank you” you can also register domains in the .gf, .ga, .gq, .ml zones.

Paid registration

Not every address can be obtained here for free. If the name consists of four and less characters- you will have to pay for it. There are also long addresses, which are also paid - according to information on the registrar’s website, these are so-called special domains, whose commercial value is higher (therefore, their cost may exceed the price of “regular” paid addresses).

Tk domain can be registered on on a paid basis for a period from 2 to 5 years. It provides several serious advantages:

  • legal ownership of the domain and rights to it;
  • the ability to use your own DNS;
  • is owned with the right to extend up to 9 years;
  • there are no restrictions on the number of visitors;
  • WHOIS is displayed.

The paid domain remains in the possession of the owner, regardless of whether the site is connected to it or not. 60 days before the registration expiration date, the company sends a reminder and gives the opportunity to renew domain ownership longer, for a period of 3 to 9 years.

Free way

You can get a free .tk domain if the name is longer than four characters and is not already taken by anyone. However, this does not make the person who received such an address its owner. The company remains the owner.

However, the advantages are obvious:

  • for free;
  • can be registered for any period from 3 months to a year;
  • it is possible to use a shortened address when connecting TiKilinks (it also allows you to connect the site with other Dot TK domains and, as the company promises, increase traffic due to this);
  • You can extend your registration for a period from 3 months to a year, also free of charge (the company will send a warning 15 days before expiration).

At the same time, there are serious limitations:

  • A .tk domain cannot be registered for future use if it is free. There must be a website, personal page, web profile, blog or portfolio. After some time, the company’s specialists will check this and, if specified address nothing will happen, the registration will be canceled and
  • A minimum of 25 visitors must visit the site within three months. Otherwise, the domain will be taken away and it will again become available to everyone.
  • WHOIS for a free address is not shown.
  • According to reviews from some webmasters, a company can revoke a free name without clearly defined reasons.
  • Search engines are wary of this domain zone and may (this has not been proven, but probably) be pessimistic about such resources, even if they contain completely unique content.

Who should buy a Tokelau address?

The free domain.tk can be used by those who want to try their hand at web mastering, but are not ready to invest money in it. It is also a good choice for various experiments (although the result may be affected by special treatment search engines to this domain zone). Many also use such a name as a temporary one before the full launch of a new project.

Paid names in the .tk zone are worth buying for those who provide freight transportation services (.tk - “truck”), or those whose business is connected with the Tokelau Islands.

How to register domain.tk for free

You can get a .tk domain from the registrar www.dot.tk. By typing this address, the person will be automatically redirected to the main page with a large field for entering the desired address. The site name is entered without an extension, that is, if in the end you need to have dzedze.tk, you only need to enter dzedze in the field and click “Go”.

Depending on whether the desired address is available and free, the second step occurs. If everything is ok, a captcha page will appear. Here you can choose one of three options regarding the received domain: redirection and its landing page, choice of DNS entry or choice of hosting offered by the service.

After entering the captcha, the registration option will become available, as well as the refusal of it to the customer, regardless of whether this person has registered or not). It is very advisable, however, to register - only in this case the new owner will be able to carry out operations with the domain address and extend the registration time.

When you select the “Sign In” option and correctly enter the captcha, a window will open where the system will offer you to log in from the account of one of the common networks to choose from.

In the window that appears, you must confirm dot.tk’s access rights to information on the web page. After which the procedure will end - the .tk domain will finally find a new owner.

A few words about the registrar

The Dot TK Registrar is a joint project of the Tokelau Islands Government, the private company BV Dot TK and the Teletok organization. BV Dot TK is a company designated by the islands government as the exclusive entity of registration, it carries out commercial activities as Dot TK Registry, which in turn is based on private capital and has its servers in all corners of the world. Registration of the .tk domain on a paid or free basis allows you to support the economy of Tokelau and raise the prestige and recognition of the country among the inhabitants of the planet.

Today I will tell you how to make a website with beautiful domain in zone.tk

So let's get started:

1) Go to the site
2) Login using Google (the best option, IMHO).

3) Go to the Domain Panel, then click Add Domain

4) Enter the desired domain name, click Add Domain

5) If you saw this inscription, you can rejoice - half the work has already been done.

6) Select Free Domain, click Next
7) Here we make sure to select what is indicated in the picture

8) Click "Use my own DNS Services"
9) Enter the DNS server data
ns1.hostinger.ru
ns2.hostinger.ru

Select the maximum domain term. (link to Google is needed to renew the domain for free)
Enter the captcha.

10) Click Next

Let's draw the line - the domain is ready. Now we need hosting.
1) Let's go here ->
In my opinion, this is the most normal free hosting.
2) Go through registration and confirm your account by mail (nothing difficult here)
3) Go to the control panel
4) Create a new hosting account

5) Choose a free plan with what I think are good conditions for your mini-site.

6) Select the domain type “domain”, below we write the address we registered at the beginning.

7) Click continue and enter the captcha. Sometimes an error appears, try again.
8) The domain is connected to hosting and now you can get to work.
9) Go to the site control panel

10) Most likely, you will see this text

Your domain is not pointing to our server names on this moment, that's why services like FTP, File manager, Mail and others will not work correctly. You can find our server names in the Accounts -> Details area. Please note that the DNS zone delegation process may take up to 24 hours after changes are made.

This is fine. After registering a domain, some time must pass for the DNS zones to propagate. This takes from 10 hours to a day.
We wait.
11) Scroll down, look for the FTP Access button
Let's go there.
From here you need 3 lines:

Write them down.
12) Download the FTP client. As for me, FileZilla is the most normal.

13) Go to the FTP client. Enter the data that you wrote down earlier in the appropriate fields.

14) Click “Quick connection” and voila - we are on the server. We delete all files from the root directory.
Now all you have to do is create your website.
The most relevant engine for a blog is DLE.

P.S. If you are impatient and can’t wait for the DNS servers to spread, don’t put a minus and don’t shout that it doesn’t work! Thank you!
