Let us tell you right away that such things can not only be made with your own hands, but their appearance will be no worse, and maybe even better, than purchased covers. In addition, you can use all your efforts, turn on your maximum imagination and take into account your preferences. All this taken together will help you achieve a wonderful original result. Now let’s move on to our tutorial on making a tablet case with your own hands.

How to sew a tablet case

To sew a book case for an iPad or Samsung tablet yourself, you actually need to have a little free time and put in a little effort. It goes without saying that you have the opportunity to create a real masterpiece, which, in addition to its direct purposes, will also “delight your eye.” And yet, what is needed to sew an original case for a tablet? Below is the first version of a case made by yourself.

Before starting work, prepare:

  • felt (colored). Cut it to fit the size of your existing tablet;
  • button;
  • 2 cardboards. Also cut to the size of the tablet;
  • rubber. To secure the tablet in the case
  • glue;
  • Let's get straight to work.

Before you sew a tablet case yourself, please note that if you do not have felt, you can replace it with another suitable fabric. It could even be leather or leather substitutes. In general, you can use whatever you want. Now let's start with the work plan.
Glue a correspondingly sized piece of leather or other material of your choice onto each cardboard. Make sure that there is a small distance between these cardboards. This is necessary so that you can easily close the case in the future. That is, make a case for your tablet like a book.

Next, take the edges of the remaining fabric and fold them inward. Now glue them to the cardboard. Glue the leather strips to the bottom. They should be 15 cm long and 1 cm wide. Cut these two strips into two even parts and attach them to the corners of the future cover using glue.

We sew a cover with our own hands

It is important to check how your tablet is “placed”. Next, glue 2 rubber bands to secure the tablet. The main work is already behind us.

Then, cut out a small piece of leather (or the same fabric) that will be slightly smaller in size than the tablet. Glue it inside. This is done in order to hide the cardboard, that is, to make the cover beautiful to look at. Sew all this carefully so that nothing comes apart or comes unglued.

In the end, all that remains is to make the fastener for the case. You will need a small piece of leather or fabric, as well as Velcro. On one side you need to glue a piece of leather (fabric), and on the other - Velcro. This way, you can close your case easily. Carefully sew it all on top. This way you will secure the result. This is all. Now you know how to sew a case for your tablet.

As you can see for yourself, there is nothing complicated here. And making a case for your tablet yourself is easy!

You can take a regular phone case as a sample. And then, using your imagination, make a similar model, but in slightly larger sizes.

Original tablet case

Anyone can sew an original tablet case with their own hands. But it remains important how he will do it. We will not dwell on one option. We'll show you another way to sew an original tablet case.

This method may surprise many, but, in any case, it is an excellent solution.

To work you will need the following items:

  • an unnecessary old book (it should be a little larger in size than your tablet);
  • brush;
  • ruler;
  • glue;
  • knife (stationery);
  • any heavy object.

Let's take a closer look at how to make a case or cover for a tablet from an old book. After choosing a suitable book, apply glue to its edges. Then leave this book for about 1-2 hours. This is done to allow the glue to dry completely. Now, take a ruler, open your book and mark the dimensions of the notch (according to your tablet). After that, cut out the pages.

All the work has already been done. Your tablet case is ready.

DIY tablet case

You can make your own tablet case with your own hands using the first method, but add some original ideas. For example, you can place foam rubber on the outside between cardboard and fabric. This way you will make the case much softer.

You can decorate the case using various available materials. As an option, you can sew a case in the form of a clutch handbag, but just take into account the size of your tablet. Regarding fabrics, you can choose any you like - depending on your wishes and preferences.

And to put it another way, there are no restrictions in creating a case for your tablet. You can even come up with some interesting way to create your own iPad bag. And perhaps this method will exceed all your expectations and will be very popular.

Please note that iPad case clasps may also vary. You can use Velcro or magnets. But, with the second option, you will need to glue magnets inside at the beginning of work. They will fix 2 sides of the cover when closing it. You can also learn from us about DIY furniture.

Nowadays you can find a variety of accessories and supplies that will help you in any job. But a DIY tablet case you create will always attract people around you. And, you can be completely sure that you will not see a similar case anywhere else. Such an original creation will be valued much more than a regular case bought in a store. I wish you creative achievements and success. Never stop there.

Video on how to make a case for an iPad

The tablet computer has become an integral part of the lives of so many people - lightweight, compact and so “smart”. They take it with them everywhere and everywhere, use it often - and all this, of course, can lead to scratches and other defects that are inseparable from frequent and long-term use of any thing. A good-quality, soft case will help protect your favorite device. In this master class we will tell you how to make a tablet case with your own hands. In addition to the tablet itself, you can fit several more things into it - a notepad, office supplies, even a phone or money - thanks to additional functional pockets and compartments, everything will fit!

Materials and tools for making a case

  • cotton in three different matching colors
  • seal
  • magnetic button
  • lightning
  • standard set of sewing accessories: thread, scissors, chalk, ruler, pins
  • sewing machine and iron

How to make a tablet case

We will need to cut out from cotton 6 rectangles measuring 21 cm by 27 cm and two of the same from the seal, 2 cotton parts measuring 15 cm by 18 cm and the same from the seal, as well as a couple of small rectangles 18 cm by 12 cm for the inner pocket and more several small rectangles for processing zippers and other small parts.

Let's start by assembling the back wall of the case; it will have a pocket with a zipper.

Take one of the large rectangles and make a marking line 4 cm from one of the short sides.

Let's cut the fabric along this line.

Now we take one of the walls of the pocket and trim the zipper to the length of its long sides. We will also prepare a couple of small rectangles with the sides ironed to the wrong side for processing the ends of the zipper.

We fix them with pins on the clasp.

And we sew.

Now we will sew in a zipper and a pocket. We fold the parts as shown in the photo. Let's sew.

Sew the second edge of the zipper in the same way.

If you unfold and iron all the parts, the sewn-in zipper will look like this.

Now we fold the parts of the pockets facing each other and sew the letter “P” on all three of their free edges.

The zippered pocket is sewn in!

Now let's work on the front volume pocket. Take two more large rectangles and fold them right sides together.

We unfold the parts, steam them and lay a decorative stitch along the seam.

Now, using an iron, we fold the sides of the future pocket, as in the photo. We make sure everything is smooth!

We sew along the ironed edges, securing the fold.

And iron two more folds, forming the volume for the pocket.

This is how it turned out from the front side.

Now we will make the valve. We duplicate the part on which the magnetic button will be placed and mark the middle to make it easier to insert the button.

Having placed it, we admire the front side.

Now we put together the remaining parts for the valve in the order shown in the photo.

We sew along the perimeter, leaving one of the sides free.

It would be better to trim off the excess filler.

Now you can unscrew the valve and steam.

Now let's place the bottom of the button on the front pocket.

The main work is finished, take a break and read the continuation of the master class in the next material.

It really can't help but amaze. Their number is so large that it seems impossible to come up with a new interesting design. Sometimes it seems that all the covers are already done. But there are times when you look and cannot find a suitable bag or cover for your device. Although cases are now created for almost all models and manufacturers.

And it happens that your specific taste is alien to the design solutions of other people, or you are simply interested in experimenting with this craft. In any case, everyone has the same goal - to make a case for the tablet with their own hands. And you don’t have to be a master seamstress or have any special skills. This is something everyone can do.

Even if not a single thought has come to your mind yet about how you want your case to look, get inspired and stock up on materials - be it denim, leather or something else. And how to work with them and combine them with each other is a matter of taste and personal preference. Be that as it may, the original protection you make for your device will arouse interested glances. Moreover, now the hand-made direction has become especially popular, which translated from English means “made by hand.” So, let's see what kinds of covers you can use at home.

In order to make a book case, we will need the following materials and tools:

  1. Material for the outer part of the case - for example, denim or leather. You can even use the cover of a diary - in this case, make sure that its dimensions are no less than the dimensions of the tablet. Otherwise, the future case simply won’t suit him.
  2. Cardboard or any other dense material.
  3. Fabric for interior decoration.
  4. An elastic band that will serve as a connecting element for our case.
  5. Scissors, needle, thread, ruler, pencil, glue, hole punch, rivets and a stationery knife.

Once you have prepared everything you need, you can begin the process itself. First, you should empty your diary of its internal contents. To do this, tear out all the sheets and leave only the cover. Now we make the base of the case. To do this, we cut out two pieces of cardboard to fit the dimensions of the diary: one will be used to protect the back, and the other will perform a connecting function and cover the end of the device.

We cover the cardboards with soft cloth. After this, we attach elastic bands to the bottom of the future case at the corners so that they cover the corners of the tablet and prevent it from falling out. This must be done as clearly and firmly as possible, otherwise your gadget will be in danger in the form of a floor surface or an asphalt road.

The next step will be to create the connecting element for the cover itself. To do this, use a hole punch to very carefully make holes on the diary and decorate them with rivets. We stretch the elastic band inside so that when closing the lid of the case you can wrap it around the tablet and secure it.

And finally, the final stage. Glue the assembled parts of the case, be sure to let your creation dry and lie for a while. And drink some tea and relax, because you have done a lot of hard work! After some time, you can try on the tablet case. If you find some shortcomings, don’t be upset, because this is only your first experience. You'll only get better at it in the future, so be patient.

If a book is not a completely inconvenient option for you, then you can make a case-bag, which is in no way inferior in practicality to its “competitors”. Among other things, you can put other things in such a case: notebooks, pens, notepads or even a keyboard for a tablet. For this purpose, an additional compartment can be provided in the design.

What do you need to make a bag-case for a tablet? So, we will need:

  1. Cotton of your favorite color or any other material. This will form the basis of the outside of the bag.
  2. Seal.
  3. Magnetic buttons.
  4. Optional: locks and other fasteners for a separate compartment. If you don't do it, you can skip this point.
  5. Scissors, needle, thread, ruler, pencil.

First, decide on the dimensions of the future cover. The figures below are approximate and average sizes. You need to cut out six rectangles measuring 21 x 27 cm from cotton (as shown in the picture) and two of the same from compaction. And two more pieces made of cotton measuring 15 x 18 cm and the same made of sealant. If you want to make additional compartments in the bag, then you need to cut out two small rectangles measuring 18 x 12 cm (they are intended for an internal small pocket) and several rectangles for finishing the zipper, as well as various small parts.

  1. We start our creation from the back of the case. It also includes a zippered compartment. Take a piece of a large rectangle, measure four centimeters from the edge of the short side and cut a strip.

  2. Take one of the walls of the pocket, apply the zipper to the long side and trim it. We prepare a couple of small rectangles with edges ironed to the wrong sides to finish the ends of the zipper. We fix them with pins on the clasp and stitch them.

  3. Next you need to sew the pocket and zipper. We fold the pieces as in the photo, stitch and sew in the second edge of the zipper, to install which we fold the pocket parts facing each other. We sew three free edges in the form of the letter “P”.

  4. Let's move on to the front volumetric pocket. We take two large rectangles, fold them right sides together and stitch them together.

  5. We unfold and steam our pieces, laying a beautiful line along the seam. Then we fold the sides of the pocket - it’s more convenient to level it with an iron. We sew along these edges and secure the bend. We repeat the procedure until the pocket becomes voluminous.

  6. Let's move on to creating the valve. Duplicate the piece on which we will insert the button, and mark the middle to make it easier to install the magnet.

  7. Next, we put together the other parts for the valve in the order shown in the photographs. We sew along the perimeter, leaving one of the sides free. We make sure that there is no excess filler. After this, turn the valve inside out and steam it. Place the bottom of the button on the front pocket.

  8. Well, now let's fold the back part of the bag - the inner wall containing the seal, the valve and the back with a pocket. We stitch it, then turn it inside out and steam it.

  9. In the same way, we assemble the upper part: the inner wall with a seal, and then the front with a volumetric pocket.

  10. Let's also make a small loop: iron a small rectangle from the remnants of one of the used fabrics along the long side, then fold it in half. Then we stitch and iron again.

  11. We pin it to the large parts just above the voluminous pocket.

  12. We sew the entire perimeter. We combine the rear and front pieces of the internal and external parts.

  13. Sew, leaving a small hole on the lining side for turning inside out.

  14. And finally, your bag-case is ready! All that remains is to turn it inside out and steam it, and the hole through which we turned it inside out is sewn up with an invisible seam.

A tablet is a compact and multifunctional gadget that is so convenient to take with you. But frequent movements can negatively affect its operation, so it is very important to protect it from dust, moisture, possible shocks, as well as minor scratches that may arise from its contact with other things in the bag. It is not at all necessary to buy a regular case in a store; you can make it yourself, giving it a unique design.

Classic version

Typically, this accessory is a cover, on one side of which the gadget is fixed, and the other side protects the screen. Before you start working on it, you need to prepare a number of materials:

  • fabric for exterior and interior decoration;
  • sheet of thick cardboard and paper;
  • elastic band 1-1.5 cm wide;
  • synthetic winterizer or foam rubber;
  • glue and thin but wide double-sided tape;
  • scissors, stationery knife;
  • thread and needle (sewing can be done by hand or by machine).

When all the materials are ready, it's time to start working directly. First you need to make the outer part:

  1. Measure the length and width of the device.
  2. Cut out 2 pieces from cardboard, equal in height and width to the values obtained during measurements + 1 cm from each edge, and 1 piece as high as the first two and 1 cm wide.
  3. On the fabric that will serve as the cover, you need to lay out the parts in this order: the main one, the one that is 1 cm wide, and the second main one. The distance between them should be approximately half a centimeter.
  4. Add 2 cm to each edge and cut off. Cut the lining to the same size.
  5. The padding polyester must be cut according to the size of the cardboard parts and the resulting pieces glued together.

On the material that will be the outer part, you need to lay out the parts with padding polyester down in the order described in point three. The excess remaining at the edges must be carefully folded and glued.

Now you can move on to working with the lining:

  1. From paper, cut out two parts corresponding to the two main ones from cardboard.
  2. The paper parts need to be glued to the lining so that they are positioned in accordance with the cardboard parts of the same dimensions.
  3. In the corners of the right side, make slits into which the fixing elastic bands will be inserted. Mark 3-4 cm from each corner and make cuts parallel to the edges of the paper.
  4. Insert the elastic bands so that the loops in which the gadget will be secured are located on the side of the fabric opposite the one to which the paper is glued. Each loop should cross the corner of the rectangle obliquely. Secure the ends with glue.
  5. Wrap the remaining excess around the edges and glue to the paper.
  6. Now you need to think about how the cover will close. It could be Velcro or just strings. Sew the selected option into the appropriate place.
  7. At the last stage, all that remains is to connect the upper part and the lining together. You can connect the parts using strips of double-sided tape, then sew the entire structure around the perimeter, stepping back half a centimeter from the edge, and sew two vertical lines on either side of the center.

And if you have any difficulties understanding the instructions, then watch the corresponding video. After this, you will probably succeed.

Envelope case

Stylish girls should pay attention to the envelope case, which is more reminiscent of a clutch. It won't be difficult to make it. You will need the following materials:

  • an envelope that is used for parcels, with bubble wrap inside;
  • a piece of thick fabric for external finishing and material for lining;
  • 2 large buttons;
  • braid or lace;
  • glue;
  • scissors, thread and needle.

Here's the procedure:

  1. Purchase an envelope that matches the size of your device. They are sold at any post office.
  2. Cut a piece of fabric for the lining, which will be equal in width to the envelope (can fit into it freely), and on the other side will correspond to the height of the closed envelope, multiplied by two, plus the capan and another 1 cm.
  3. Fold the resulting piece and glue it inside and also to the valve. Fold the remaining 1 cm outside the valve and also fix it with glue.
  4. Cut a piece of material for outer decoration equal to the height of the closed envelope multiplied by two, plus the flap and plus 1 cm. Its width should correspond to the width of the envelope. Please note that the edge must be processed and should not crumble.
  5. Glue the fabric to the outside. Fold the free centimeter from the top inside the valve.
  6. Sew the opened envelope around the perimeter, stepping back half a centimeter from the edge. Do not stitch the bottom part.

Now all that remains is to sew one button to the flap, the second - directly to the envelope, fix a lace or ribbon on one of them and use it to close the envelope-case. It would not be a shame to even present a stylish accessory, for example, in quality.

Retro style book case

A book case for your tablet will help you stand out among your friends. The set of materials is very simple:

  • an old book with a beautiful cover, preferably with yellow pages;
  • transparent glue and brush;
  • cargo or any heavy object;
  • ruler;
  • stationery knife;
  • rubber.

Having chosen a suitable book, the dimensions of which should be 2-3 cm larger than the dimensions of the gadget in width and height, you can begin to create a case. For this:

  1. Carefully coat the pages of the closed book with glue around the entire perimeter. It is better to place a piece of paper between the first page, the last and the cover so that the cover does not stick to the pages.
  2. Let the pages dry well, use a weight for best effect.
  3. Open the book, measure the same distance on all sides and carefully cut out a niche that will fit the size of the device.
  4. Apply glue to the book pages in the resulting niche and let them dry.
  5. Open the book from the end. Attach two elastic bands so that they secure the tablet. To ensure that the cover of the book fits tightly, in the places where the elastic bands are located, you can cut niches in the pages of the required size.
  6. When closed, such a book cover can be secured using a sewn elastic band, which will simply be put on top along or across the book.

Use custom shapes and materials to create a truly unique and exclusive case that highlights your personality and reflects your lifestyle.

In modern society, new technologies have long appeared that require protection and cleanliness. Cleanliness is quite easy to deal with, but we need to think about strong protection, because if our new tablet breaks on the very first day of use, we will not be very pleased and even offended. But there is not always enough money to buy not only a tablet from a good company, but also special accessories for it. In this article you will learn how to make a case for your favorite tablet quickly and easily with your own hands.

Basically the ideas are quite original and simple. If at first glance it seems to you that the manufacturing instructions are complicated and require unnecessary materials, do not worry. Read the instructions again and you will understand that there is nothing complicated here, and the materials can be replaced with others that are more to your liking.

You can, of course, buy a protective agent, but at a low price it is unlikely to last long. There are also high-quality, expensive models, but a case you make yourself will be much cheaper. After all, although it will require costs, they will not be so large. And you will also know exactly what it consists of and how it is made.

Let's understand the main types of tablet cases made by yourself

A simple and interesting option made from felt

The simplest method that will not only protect the device from damage, but also retain heat.

For it you will need:

  1. A piece of felt;
  2. Needle;
  3. Thick threads;
  4. Scissors;
  5. Ruler.

Let's start production:

To begin, take felt and mark two identical contours on it (the size of the tablet plus two centimeters on the sides). Cut carefully, without touching anything unnecessary, along the marked line, then sew: the right side, the bottom and the left side. That's it, the cute little case is ready. You can decorate it with beads, quilling, sew it with colored threads, or draw a picture with paints.

Trying to create a stylish denim case

In addition to ordinary fabrics, if you show your imagination, you can use something more interesting.

For example, below is an option on how to make a case for a tablet from jeans . This look will look much more interesting and attractive than felt.

You can immediately go looking for old unwanted denim trousers, because this method will definitely attract your attention.

For it you will need:

  1. Jeans;
  2. Needle;
  3. Threads;
  4. Awl;
  5. Cardboard;
  6. Lock.

Let's start production:

Cut the top back part to the size of the tablet to make a book. Glue cardboard onto the inside. Use an awl to make holes in the sides (don't touch the top!), then sew the sides together. If desired, you can sew a lock on top to prevent the device from falling out. And, of course, decorate with decor.

Ready! Now you have not only a case for your tablet computer, but also two pockets for small items.

Elegant leather case for all times

Well, besides fabrics, leather has always been and will remain the most elegant. Consider the following option for a protective and attractive case.

For it you will need:

  1. Leather cloth;
  2. Strong cardboard;
  3. Non-slip fabric;
  4. Glue (preferably transparent);
  5. Needle;
  6. Strong threads;
  7. Scissors;
  8. Pencil or pen;
  9. Ruler;
  10. A pair of rubber bands;
  11. Awl;
  12. Plastic;
  13. A piece of soap or soap.

Let's start production:

We cut out two identical parts from cardboard, measuring the dimensions of the tablet and adding one centimeter - this will be the base. Using scissors, round two corners. Use a ruler to divide one of the parts into two parts. Then cut a line of 0.5 centimeters.

We glue the three finished parts onto plastic. Next, we iron the fabric well and glue the parts to its wrong side so that the plastic is at the top. This is done as follows: first glue the largest part, with rounded corners to the left, mark the top and bottom stripes with soap (so that the remaining parts go smoothly), retreating 1.5 centimeters, glue the part with right angles and, retreating another 0.3 centimeters, glue the remaining part, rounded corners to the right.

Leaving one centimeter at the edges, carefully cut the fabric. We wrap the edges and glue them inside. We glue elastic bands to the large part at the corners, and sew leather fabric on the outside. We attach a clip on top that will hold the case itself when it is in a standing position.

Now you know that sewing a leather tablet case is not difficult, you just need some additional funds.

At first glance, it seems that these ideas are completely unoriginal and useless. But you shouldn’t judge it without trying it. First try to make all these three types, the result will definitely pleasantly surprise you. And even if you don’t like it, knowing already some options, you can come up with instructions yourself, using your imagination.

Happy crafting and pleasant surprises!
