Asus nexus 7 screen resolution. Tablet specifications

The first Nexus 7 tablet, released by ASUS at the request of Google, appeared in 2012 and caused a great stir, which was associated primarily with the price of the device: Nexus 7 16 GB was sold in the States for $250, and the characteristics of the tablet were quite comparable to competitors’ devices , which were sold two to three times more expensive. This year, 2013, ASUS and Google presented a new edition of this tablet, for which they decided not to change the name Nexus 7, but simply added the year of manufacture to it. I was very interested in this tablet, primarily because I am looking for an Android model to replace the iPad mini, which suits me with everything except the iOS operating system. So I didn’t wait for nature’s favors and immediately ordered it as soon as it appeared on Amazon Spain. The version with 32 GB of memory cost me 257 euros. By the way, I wouldn’t hesitate to fork out for a version with 64 GB on board, given the lack of microSD support on this tablet, but, alas, the maximum memory size there is 32 GB. So, ASUS Nexus 7 (2013).

Price: 257 euros for 32 GB Wi-Fi in Europe, $268 for the same in the States, in Russia the 32 GB version with 3G/LTE is 16 thousand rubles. What primarily interests us here? I'm interested in the differences from the previous Nexus 7 model. They exist and are significant, let's list them:
more efficient processor; more built-in memory (then there were models with WiFi only 8 and 16 GB; however, there was a model with 3G with 32 GB); twice the RAM; a 5 megapixel rear camera appeared; display resolution has become FullHD; LTE support appeared; a light indicator appeared; The width of the device has become 6 mm narrower; weight decreased by 50 grams; stereo sound appeared; support for Qi and SlimPort appeared.
Contents of delivery The Nexus 7 box is now a piercing blue color.
Included: tablet, USB-microUSB cable, network adapter, brochure.
Appearance and features The entire front of the tablet is covered with Gorilla Glass. The front camera is now located not in the center, but closer to the right edge of the tablet. The back cover of the tablet has a Soft Touch coating. With it, the device fits well in the hand, but this coating is very easy to scratch and get dirty, so be prepared for the fact that after a few days of use the tablet will completely lose its presentation. The bottom end has a microUSB output and stereo speakers.
The right side is the power button and volume rocker. By the way, the solution is frankly lousy: it’s very easy to turn off the tablet when you just want to turn up the volume, and vice versa. I read reviews on the Internet - many users complain about this. However, this arrangement is most likely explained by the fact that this tablet is mainly designed for use in landscape mode: then the power button is on the top left and can be conveniently pressed with the index finger of the left hand.
The top end is an output for a headset and stereo speakers.
Well, let's compare the Nexus 7 with the iPad mini. Here you can clearly see that the Nexus 7 has a display aspect ratio of 16:9, while the iPad has a 4:3 aspect ratio. By the way, there are still fierce debates about this: some believe that the 16:9 format is more convenient than 4:3, while others argue that everything is exactly the opposite.
I'll tell you this. If the tablet is mainly used for watching movies, then the 16:9 format is more convenient. But if it is used more for Internet surfing and reading, then 4:3 is more convenient. I ordered this case for this tablet - I thought it would also work as a stand.
It works as a stand, but only in a horizontal version and somewhat crookedly: the lower part needs to be pulled out of the holders and inserted into one of the grooves on the left side of the case. The tablet cannot be placed vertically, but this is sometimes necessary for reading books and PDF documents, so I will look for another case.
Display IPS display with FullHD resolution and pixel density comparable to top smartphones - 323 PPI. For comparison, the iPad mini has 162 PPI (as you know, it has not yet acquired a Retina display - much to the disappointment of users). The control buttons are used only on-screen: in this case, they eat off a strip from the display 120 pixels high. As a result, from 1920x1200 we get FullHD resolution - 1920x1080. And the resolution of 1920x1200 is only available in full-screen video viewing. Viewing angles are expectedly excellent (IPS is typical), the colors are rich but natural, the brightness margin is very good: in normal mode I set the brightness to about 50 percent. The display has a very high-quality oleophobic coating, thanks to which it gets dirty with fingers a little less than expected . Device operation What’s good about “clean” Google smartphones and tablets is that they have pure Android installed without any heaps of additional junk, which, as a rule, the user doesn’t really need, and it’s impossible to remove it without root. (Here a big hello to the developers from Samsung, who are great experts in the matter of filling a smartphone-tablet with uninstallable software.) The main desktop.

By the way, contrary to the opinion of some users, even in version Android 4.3 there is no option to enable display of battery percentage - this feature is usually added to their firmware by manufacturers of flagship smartphones and tablets: Samsung, Sony, HTC, and so on. And here it’s pure Android, so no interest for you. To enable this feature, I use the Battery Percentage app. (Well, and at the same time, there’s even more - “Calendar in the status bar”.)

Google services folder.

Applications installed on the system.

Widgets (there are three screens).

The notification area appears when swiping from top to bottom.

The notification area can be switched to settings icons.

List of recently launched applications.

Lock screen.

You can move it and include several widgets that will scroll on the lock screen.

Widget with notes.

Now let's talk about some of the more interesting applications. Keyboard convenient, in Russian there are separate buttons with a period and a comma, plus a hyphen and an underscore. (How the missing comma on the iPad is annoying!) I didn’t even want to change this keyboard to something else - it’s very convenient and well thought out.

Hangouts- a new universal messenger from Google. It combines Google Talk, Google+ Messenger and Google+ Hangout. In general, the messenger is quite convenient, I tested it. Chats, video conferences, and everything, including pictures and video calls, is saved in the cloud and can be shared. Message history is synchronized with all devices. Group chats and video conferences for up to 10 people are also supported.

Albums-galleries. Images can be curated by places, dates, people, and tags.

Advanced editing tools are supported.

Google Maps. On this display, maps look amazing.

Media. An application for subscribing to all sorts of newspapers and magazines via RSS. Not the most convenient.

Google earth- the famous Planet Earth application. You can look at some cities there for hours - very interesting.

Google+- Google social network where you can now store your photos.

Browser- Google Chrome. It’s very convenient that when you connect an account, it immediately restores all bookmarks and other settings. Well, it’s quite comfortable to work with websites at this resolution.

Google Keep- a tool for storing notes, lists, photos and voice notes. Not very convenient, Evernote, in my opinion, is much more convenient.

Play Books- an application for purchasing and reading various publications.

Overall, not bad, but I like Cool Reader much better.

By the way, in landscape mode, even in a two-page version, it’s not very convenient to read here due to the 16:9 format. But in portrait it’s fine. Music. The application allows you to store your music library in the cloud and synchronize it between all your Android devices.

By the way, the tablet sounds noticeably better than the previous one. The speakers here are located at different edges of the device and are stereo - the tablet sounds very, very good. Of course, the sound turns out to be flat and does not please with bass, which is not surprising, but at the same time the speakers do not wheeze, there is no overload - it sounds straight up to the B level. But the sound in headphones was disappointing: even when adjusting the equalizer, it was not possible to achieve decent quality. In the headphones the sound is C grade. The main complaints are no bass and flat sound. When the equalizer is turned on, the sound level at maximum drops to unacceptable levels: you can no longer listen even in a quiet room, let alone on an airplane. Moreover, I tried a variety of headphones - from Ear Pods to Monster Diesel. Video. The standard video player from the gallery does not understand half of the container codecs, so I immediately install MX Player Pro, which suits me one hundred percent.

With hardware acceleration, any video, including FullHD, is played back without any lag.

Camera The rear camera was added here, apparently as a “just in case” series, because I don’t particularly understand why it is needed here at all. Frontal - yes, for video conferencing. And the rear... However, I have repeatedly met people who sincerely and passionately photograph what is happening on ten-inch tablets - this type of perversion is completely incomprehensible to me. But since they take photographs, it means that such cameras are needed. I think that if you build a camera into a backpack, many users will start taking photos with a backpack. Or a refrigerator. The camera interface is very minimalistic, but nevertheless convenient: all additional settings are called up by clicking a special icon.

There is an interesting mode - viewing a gallery of created photos, while on the left is shown what the camera is currently transmitting.

The camera footage is, frankly, disgusting. It focuses very poorly: what is near and what is on distant objects. Moreover, even during the shooting process, it is clear that she is focusing crookedly. Each frame has to be taken five times - then at least something works out. In poor lighting, it makes a terrible noise, as expected, and also often sets the white balance crookedly. Here, admire it. (These are selected frames that turned out more or less. Everything is clickable.)

Low light test.

Normal daylight, the balance actually floated into the blue.
The colors are whitish and unnatural. And this is in sunlight.
The image always turns out cloudy. (No, the camera glass is not dirty, I checked.)

In general, it's junk, not a camera. Performance Purely visually, the tablet works very quickly. Graphics scrolling lacks smoothness, but this is a known issue with Android (versus iOS) and not a specific device issue. I ran a test using Quadrant Pro. Here is the result - 5108, which is impressive. It gave 3732 to the previous model.

Vellamo tests.

Battery life The battery capacity in the new model has even decreased compared to the previous one (3950 mAh, 15 Wh versus 4325 mAh, 16 Wh). At the same time, there is a more powerful processor and higher resolution. So many users were afraid that the battery life would decrease here. However, I am happy to say that this is absolutely not the case. The battery life of this tablet is not only no less, but also clearly longer than that of the previous model, apparently due to a more efficient SoC (system on a chip). Watch video. The “Airplane” mode is turned on, the brightness is set to a comfortable 50%, and a TV-resolution series is playing in a loop in the player with hardware acceleration. So, 11 hours 15 minutes - like one penny! I specifically waited for the battery to drain to zero: the tablet turned off at around 11 hours and 15 minutes - it’s just wonderful! The previous one barely lasted up to 10 hours at 30% brightness. iPad mini - 10 hours 35 minutes. At 30% brightness this tablet did 12 hours 52 minutes - almost 13 hours! At full brightness it turned out to be 8 hours 33 minutes. Working on the Internet. Wi-Fi is on, brightness is at 50%, the browser page reloads once a minute. 10 hours 45 minutes is also very cool. Well, purely practically: with normal, more or less active use, the tablet lives quietly for a couple of days. In passive mode, the charge consumption is insignificant: overnight the charge level dropped by a couple of percent. Observations at work During the testing period, one problematic application was identified on the tablet - the camera. When using it, there were a couple of times when the tablet froze to death and then rebooted. As far as I remember, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 had similar problems before some specific update. This tablet had problems with the camera and reboots were systemic in nature, judging by the reviews on the Internet, but with the new firmware 4.3 the jambs seem to have decreased. However, on my newest firmware it rebooted a couple of times when using the camera. Also, when using the camera, the lower right corner noticeably heats up (in landscape mode) - holding the tablet becomes unpleasant. The same thing happens when some resource-intensive application is running - for example, a “heavy” toy.
I didn't seem to find any other bugs. conclusions I was frankly pleased with the tablet. Compared to the previous model, which itself was very good, there are many noticeable improvements. The only thing that disappointed me was the front camera, but on the other hand, why the hell is it even needed? Well, I would like microSD support, but with 32 gigabytes on board, in general, you can already live. The price situation now is no longer the same as when the first Nexus 7 was released: competitors have noticeably lowered the prices of their tablets, of which there is a pleasant variety. However, let’s just say that you won’t find an equally powerful package for that kind of money. For example, the seven-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 costs $179 in the States, but it has much weaker hardware in all respects. The eight-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 costs $280, but it also has worse specifications. So for the money this is, in my opinion, a very good option. Do I need to upgrade my previous Nexus 7 to the 2013 model? Everyone must decide this for themselves. But compared to the old model, almost all the parameters have noticeably improved, so maybe this also makes sense. Well, one more question that is relevant to me personally: will I exchange the iPad mini for this Nexus 7? I will answer this way. Almost 100% - I will, because an Android tablet (especially this one) suits me more than an iPad with iOS. The only problem that has not been resolved at the moment is the lack of a “Kiosk” application (or its equivalent) for Android. Moreover, if one part of the magazines that I read on the iPad can be easily read on Android in their online versions, then several other magazines - Empire Russia and Total DVD - are not published in online versions, the only compromise here is their releases in PDF, which I fits. The only thing that doesn’t work is that I still can’t find where and how I can officially buy them in PDF format.

Tablets with a 7" display diagonal earned special recognition at the end of 2011, when, on the eve of the New Year's sales, Amazon and Barnes & Noble introduced and almost immediately brought to market a pair of, one might say, innovative devices - the Kindle Fire and Nook Tablet. Both tablets , at very low prices of $199 and $249 respectively, were compact in size and offered excellent IPS displays and powerful hardware. In addition, they also had fairly good software, which was based on a significantly stripped-down Android operating system from Google with support for an extensive base applications.

In the wake of such success, many companies began to present their solutions in this form factor, including Google, which previously, together with selected manufacturers, produced reference versions of smartphones under the Nexus brand. And this, it’s worth recalling, is the Nexus One from HTC, the Nexus S and Galaxy Nexus from Samsung, and, finally, the recently introduced Nexus 4 from LG.

The first Google tablet to complement the line of reference devices was the Nexus 7, produced in collaboration with the Taiwanese company ASUS. The new product, which received a “double” name, with a starting price of $199 (in the American market) boasts a good 7" IPS display with HD resolution and a powerful quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. However, it also has a number of limitations, in particular the lack of a card slot memory and, no less important, the main camera module. It is also worth noting that this tablet is the world's first device running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS.

Tablet information

Delivery and configuration

The ASUS / Google Nexus 7 tablet comes in a small black box made of thick cardboard, which is additionally wrapped in an outer shell painted gray. On its title side there is the logo of the Nexus line of devices and a peculiar image of a tablet, the frame of which forms the number “7”. On the sides you can see a couple more logos, and on the back you can read a brief description of the device’s features.

The delivery package, unfortunately, is very modest and, in addition to the tablet itself, includes:

    compact power supply;

    Micro-USB-to-USB adapter cable for connecting to the power supply and synchronizing with a PC;

a couple of small brochures describing quick setup and warranty obligations.

I would like to see at least some headphones included; after all, the tablet is a multimedia device, but they will have to be purchased separately, which, in principle, is not so critical. In addition, to protect your tablet, you can purchase a proprietary ASUS Travel Cover, made of soft plastic with a matte surface.

Appearance, arrangement of elements

Nexus 7 has a pleasant and well-designed appearance, which is recognizable as the characteristic features of the latest ASUS devices. It is noteworthy that the “gool tablet” has a lot in common with the ASUS MeMo 370T tablet, which was presented at CES 2012, but, unfortunately, never left the prototype stage.

The main material for the case is high quality plastic, which provides very good rigidity. The build quality is also very good, the tablet feels like a monolith, and when you try to twist it, it does not deform or make any characteristic sounds. The color design is presented in only one option - black with a silver edging along the contour.

Thanks to the compact dimensions of the case with a thickness of 10.45 mm and a weight of 340 g (347 g for the model with a 3G module and 32 GB of memory), the tablet is very convenient to use. It can be easily held with one or two hands, and when moving around the city it can easily fit into a jeans or jacket pocket or a small bag.

The front panel is completely covered with protective glass Corning Fit Glass, which in a number of characteristics is somewhat inferior to the more popular Gorilla Glass, but, nevertheless, perfectly resists the appearance of any abrasions, of course, with careful handling. Below it are a display, a front camera, a light sensor, as well as a special magnetic sensor (bottom left), which automatically switches the device to standby mode when using a proprietary case.

The back side is a solid plastic panel, which has a pleasant rubberized surface with a chiseled texture, which helps to hold the tablet more securely in your hands. There are a pair of embossed logos - a small ASUS at the bottom and a larger Nexus at the top - as well as a long metal grille almost to the edge at the bottom. Stereo speakers are hidden underneath.

On the left side of the tablet there is a second microphone and a four-pin connector for connecting a docking station, while on the right there are volume keys and a power/lock key.

The main microphone is located on top, and on the bottom there is a combined audio jack (mini-jack 3.5 mm) and a Micro-USB connector.

Display, sound

The diagonal of the display installed in the Nexus 7 is exactly 7" with an aspect ratio of 16:10, which has a positive effect on watching movies. The matrix here is made using IPS technology, it has excellent viewing angles and, most importantly, full HD resolution of 1280 at 800 pixels (216 ppi). Color rendition is also excellent, which is also facilitated by ASUS TruVivid technology, however, with significant deviations, the picture acquires noticeable yellow and purple shades, which is a little disappointing. The brightness of the backlight, adjustable both manually and automatically, is sufficient high, and its range is quite enough for comfortable work both in the dark and on a bright sunny day.

Thanks to the display with a very high pixel density per inch, working with the tablet is pleasant. The fonts are well drawn, which is very useful when browsing various sites and reading books, and photographs or videos practically do not lose their detail.

It is also worth noting that the finger glides well on the protective glass, and the touch pad is very responsive and supports up to 10 simultaneous touches.

The Nexus 7's audio system consists of two speakers, which theoretically provide stereo sound, but it will be very difficult to hear in practice. In addition, their location - in the lower part of the rear side - does not have the most positive effect on the quality of sound directed away from the user. Also, do not forget that the speakers are very easy to cover with your palm when using the tablet in landscape orientation. Because of this, the reproduced sound is slightly muffled.

If we talk about the sound subsystem as a whole, then it is enough for watching the next episode of your favorite TV series in your free time, and for the sound of games, and, finally, for playing music in the background. However, if you need to satisfy your music lover's needs, it is better to use headphones, or connect the tablet to external speakers.

Camera

One of the main drawbacks, which may be critical for many, is the presence of only a front camera for video calls. Unfortunately, the Nexus 7 does not have a main camera, but we do not give up hope that it will appear in future updated versions of the tablet, as happened with the advent of the version with a 3G module.

By the way, you can’t just launch the camera, since the OS does not provide a corresponding application. The way out of this situation is to install the Camera Launcher for Nexus 7 application, available on Google Play.

The resolution of the front camera module is 1.2 megapixels, which should allow it to shoot video in 720p format, but software limitations are set at 480p. As a result, the quality of the resulting material is quite low.

OS: Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean

ASUS / Google Nexus 7, like any other device in the family, is controlled by the latest version of the operating system, currently Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which was updated to version 4.2.1 last week, bringing back the month of December in the Contacts application. Updates are distributed using OTA, i.e. "by air".

As you know, starting with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, Google's operating system switched to using the so-called Project Butter technology. Its main feature was the optimization and significant acceleration of rendering of the user interface, due to the widespread use of vertical synchronization with a frequency of 60 Hz and the use of triple buffering to coordinate the tasks of the central and graphics cores and the display. It is also worth noting the presence of a special regulator that switches the processor to the most productive state as soon as the touchscreen substrate of the display detects a touch.

The result of the introduction of such an innovation was very smooth and responsive operation of both the operating system itself and built-in applications, in addition, the performance of devices controlled by the new OS increased by about 20%.

Among the innovations of Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, we highlight the updated notification area, divided into parts, in one, as before, various push messages are displayed, and in the other there is a quick settings menu, in particular for controlling brightness, connecting to wireless networks and monitoring battery consumption .

In addition, a multi-user operating mode has appeared, in which each individual user is provided with their own workspace, completely customizable to their taste and in no way affecting that of another user.

A nice feature can also be the Daydream “screen saver” mode, which displays collages from photo albums or news reports when the tablet is in standby mode or connected to the docking station.

An important feature of the updated OS was support for horizontal interface orientation, which was significantly lacking in Android 4.1.

Finally, we note the ability to add widgets to the lock screen, for example a calendar or one of the mailbox sections.

Performance testing

The “engine” in the Nexus 7 is the quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor, the main feature of which is the presence of a fifth energy-efficient core, used in cases where the tablet is in standby mode or running a minimal load. The tablet uses the slowest version of the processor, or to be more precise, the model under the index T30L, the operating frequency of which is reduced from the standard 1500 MHz to 1300 MHz for the processor part and from 520 MHz to 416 MHz for the graphics part. RAM is presented in a volume of 1 GB.

To test the tablet's performance, several applications were selected, namely Quadrant Standard 2.1.1, Geekbench 2.3.7, Vellamo 2.0.2, NenaMark 2.4, as well as the Peacekeeper online browser test. The results obtained can be found below.

It's also worth noting that although the tablet has 16 GB of internal memory, only a little over 13 GB is actually available, and this should not be forgotten. After all, many new games require 1 to 2 GB of free space.

Autonomous operation

The tablet's battery life was measured during cyclic playback of an HD movie (.mkv, [email protected], 1280x720 pixels, 4,621 Kbps) using the MX Player application. In this case, the display brightness was 50%, and the audio stream at a volume of 50% was output to the headphones.

With such a load, the Nexus 7, equipped with a 16 Wh battery, can continuously work for up to 10 and a half hours, which is a full hour more than the stated operating time and this is very cool. In game mode, the battery is depleted after 3-4 hours - depending on the demands of the game itself. Based on this, we can say that with measured use of the tablet’s capabilities, it will be able to last a day without recharging, or even up to two days, if you do not run games.

Results

The first “Google tablet”, produced jointly with ASUS, and called , turned out to be a very interesting device, both visually and technically. Thus, the tablet has a pleasant appearance and leaves a pleasant tactile sensation when used.

Among the main features of the new product, it is worth highlighting a good IPS display with a diagonal of 7", full HD resolution of 1280x800 pixels (216 ppi) and support for ASUS TruVivid technology for transmitting the most accurate colors. It is also worth noting the hardware platform used, which is a quad-core NVIDIA processor Tegra 3 T30L, which provides a fairly high level of performance. We must not forget that the Nexus 7 runs the latest version of the operating system from Google - Android 4.2.1 Jelly Bean, and receives all important OS updates first.

Among the shortcomings is the lack of a slot for memory cards, instead of which Google recommends using cloud services, as well as the lack of a main camera module. In addition, we can note a minor drawback of the display, the picture on which, with large deviations, acquires yellow and purple shades.

The cost in Ukraine is one and a half times higher than in the USA.

We express our gratitude to the Ukrainian representative office of ASUSTeK Computer Inc. for the tablet provided for testing.

I'm tired of reviewing devices that have to be praised. I have repeatedly been convinced that 2013 is a horror year for a gadget lover, because not only is there a lot to choose from, it is simply impossible to choose, everywhere you look - everything is very interesting. Is it worth listing everything? I think no. Just look at the latest flagship smartphones, as well as announcements of upcoming ones. But today is a special occasion, in my hands is not a smartphone, which I would really like, but a tablet. More precisely, the best Android tablet is the 2013 ASUS Nexus 7.

Surely, someone can argue with me about “best,” but this is my opinion. I used it for a week and I can’t remember that at least once I liked any other Android tablet so much, so the beginning of this review is already a conclusion: if you need a tablet, take this one. The new product can generally be called the best tablet on the market if you need a compact option with a 7-8″ display, but it’s worth comparing the Nexus 7 with the iPad Mini. At first glance, Nexus 7 wins in everything: hardware, display, speed (!), but there are a couple of points. Of course, we are talking about applications. I don't really need a tablet. I use it exclusively for three things: music apps, games, and movies. The third one can be discarded, since I download movies onto the iPad only for flights; at home I watch them on my smartphone or computer. After the purchase, I looked at it on the tablet for a while - I wasn’t used to it. By the way, it’s more convenient to watch videos on the Nexus 7 – it’s simply easier to hold in your hands. But music apps are not yet a lost battle for Android, but one that has not yet begun. But you need to understand that only I and at most one percent of users need such functionality. So we skip it. But games are a more common use for a tablet. Nexus 7 is equipped with very productive hardware and a gorgeous display - everything to make the game enjoyable. But there are much fewer games for Android than for iOS. Big projects like Modern Combat 4 or Real Racing 3 are coming out, but indie projects are generally difficult. Almost nothing I play on iPad is available for Android. If all this is indifferent to you and you need a tablet for video, browsing, social networks, you don’t even have to choose, look at the Nexus 7. By the way, just at the moment when I am writing these lines, another Nexus 7 arrived from the states. , but for use. I ordered using the Banderolka service, I’ll tell you more about it soon.

Nexus 7 is a new tablet of the Nexus family, the first device to receive the latest version of Android OS - 4.3. The new product is very different from its predecessor. Last year's Nexus 7, also made by ASUS, stood out primarily for its cost. He was not the best at all, but for his money he easily beat the competition. That is why the model has become so popular in geek circles. Today everything is different - we have a budget tablet for its price, which is also the best on the market. The previous model was quite good, but there were also flaws associated with the case (creaks, a slightly protruding display that can be pressed down, etc.). Also, Tegra 3 could not be considered the best solution. Now let's take a look at the body and design of the 2013 Nexus 7.

Design and ergonomics

The case is plastic, but no less amazing for that. Literally, everyone who took the new product to look at it was absolutely delighted with the materials and build quality. The back and sides are one piece. Because of this, the body is rigid. Even if you make an effort and deform the structure, you will not hear any squeaks. All the parts fit perfectly, nothing sticks out, doesn’t hang out, doesn’t play – a model for other tablets.

The back part is made of soft-touch plastic, it does not allow the device to slip in the hand. But, like most soft-touch surfaces, greasy marks are very visible on it. There won't be any smudges like on gloss, but the body will have to be wiped down. I'm glad that the back cover does not bend even when you press in its central part.

The new Nexus 7 has become noticeably thinner, narrower, but at the same time a little taller. The frames at the top and bottom seem too large, I think the case could be made even more compact. The size ratios of the new and old model are respectively: 114 x 200 x 8.65 and 198.5 x 120 x 10.45. The weight of the tablet is 290 grams, which is 50 grams less than last year’s model. Holding the tablet vertically with one hand is comfortable; in landscape orientation, the large chin and chin (c) act as handles for holding. The arrangement of the elements has changed slightly compared to last year's version. Now the connector for connecting a headset (which, by the way, is not included in the kit) is on top, MicroUSB remains at the bottom. The volume and power keys are on the right side, the left is occupied only by the SIM card slot if you have the LTE version. A main 5 MP camera appeared on the back side, as well as a second speaker on top. Google promised very good sound from the speakers, but, unfortunately, the HTC One is still very far from achieving that. There is no bass at all, the stereo effect is also not particularly legible, since the speakers are located at the back.

The only other thing I would like to note is that the MicroUSB connector has been combined with SlimPort. Using special adapters, you can connect devices with HDMI or D-Sub interfaces.

Display

Somewhere, someone has already called the second-generation Nexus 7 display the best of all that are installed in tablets and smartphones today. We are talking about the relationship between all parameters: resolution and pixel density, brightness, contrast, viewing angles, proximity to natural colors. I can’t say for sure that this is the best display, but it is definitely among the very best. The Nexus 7 has the highest number of pixels per inch – 323. For comparison, the iPhone 5 has almost the same number – 326. Although it’s possible to consider a separate one, it’s already nerdy. The screen resolution is 1920x1200 pixels, but part of the space is occupied by the function keys back, home and multitasking. Even if the new product had an HD display, it would not look like a failure, it is still clearer than in the iPad mini, but Full HD is a direct way to distinguish itself from others. Screen type – IPS. A brightness of 590 nits is enough for more or less comfortable use of the tablet in sunlight. The minimum brightness is low enough not to strain your vision in the dark.

Cameras

The front camera is 1.3 MP, videos are recorded at 720p. It was shifted from the center to the right corner, because of this, when talking on Skype with video, you have to tilt the tablet a little so that your face is in the center. But the most important thing is that there is a main 5 MP camera on the back. It can record videos up to 1080p. The quality of both cameras is average, but their presence is definitely a plus. By the way, the quality of the video is very good, in proportions it’s better than the photo.

Specifications and software

Last year, the Nexus 7 was powered by an Nvidia Tegra 3 processor, and this could not be considered an advantage. The new product is better here too; the second generation Nexus 7 has a good processor. Almost Snapdragon 600, but not quite. Inside is a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064, clocked at 1.5 GHz, based on Krait 300 computing cores (as in the 600). Graphics core – Adreno 320. RAM – 2 GB, user memory – 16 or 32. There is no slot for memory cards, as is already usual for nexuses. The tablet turned out to be very fast, in no way inferior to the iPad 4 and even surpasses the iPad mini in speed. Games like Real Racing 3, Dead Trigger and others run at maximum graphics settings. The main thing is that the processor and graphics can easily cope with such a high display resolution. I would like to note separately that even when installing everything from Google Play, this does not affect the smooth operation of the interface. And not all even top devices can do this.

The autonomy of the tablet is standard - the same 10 hours that everyone promises. Of course, you can drain the battery to zero much faster using the same RR3, but the 3950 mAh capacity is enough to go without charging for several days with average use.

Nexus 7 is the first device that can now be purchased with the latest version of the OS - Android 4.3. The update also arrived on other Google devices, but only Nexus 7 is on the shelves with 4.3, which is logical - this is the newest device. How unusual and pleasant it is to write that no one installed anything on top of Android! You get the best experience using this OS, because that's how Google sees it. In addition, the very name Nexus, on the back of the device, is already evidence that you will have everything new that Google releases. This is simply wonderful!

There are not many external changes in the new version of Android 4.3. The biggest thing is profiles with limited access. In the settings, in the “Device” section, there is a “Users” item. In it you can create a regular user, or you can restrict access. This is convenient if the tablet is at home most of the time, and you only use it when you come home from work. Then, no one will get into the main account without entering a password (for example, a graphic one). This way you can only use the apps you choose.

But there's a lot more interesting stuff under the hood in Android 4.3. For example, support for Open GL ES 3.0, which is not present in either Nvidia Tegra 3 or Tegra 4. They wrote so in the releases, they say that it won’t be long before games require Open GL 3, but then bam, and the OS itself uses it ! In principle, you can add drivers and I will not say for sure that no one will ever do this. But the current update to the first generation Nexus 7 does not support Open GL ES 3.0. We wrote more about the changes and innovations in Android 4.3.

Accessories

It’s very correct that Google presented not only the device itself, but also some accessories for it. There are a couple of films, including an anti-glare one, and two types of flip cases: Travel Cover and Premium Cover. The first option can be in one of six colors, the second – only white and black. But the Premium Cover can serve as a stand for the Nexus 7.

Conclusion

As I said, this is the best Android tablet considering quality, performance and, of course, cost. And those who do not need the delights of iOS that I described can safely purchase the second-generation Nexus 7 as the best tablet in general. The only thing is that the display could be closer to 8″, since modern lampshades (huge smartphones) are already very close to the 7″ mark. Take the same Sony Xperia Z Ultra or Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. And the Nexus 7, even if desired, cannot be used as a phone - there is no speaker.

Large manufacturers of digital equipment have to maintain interest in their products in different ways. The principal direction in this regard is successful representation in the budget niche, where Chinese companies traditionally reign. In the wake of the proliferation of smartphones, manufacturers from the Middle Kingdom have firmly established themselves in the lower price segment, largely duplicating the original models from the leaders.

The situation is similar in the tablet category. To this day, it is believed that it is impossible for a reputable developer to attract its fans with a modest price tag, since the same Chinese and Koreans will always be one step ahead, offering gadgets with similar characteristics, but at the lowest cost.

However, in 2013, the current state of affairs was disrupted by the Nexus 7 tablet model, which was created by the alliance between Google and ASUS. The device received a lot of admiring reviews in the very first days and subsequently gave practically no reason for disappointment. However, the model still has some flaws. Let's take a closer look.

Model appearance

There is little in this device that hints at belonging to the budget class. But an experienced eye can determine this by appearance. The model is implemented in a form factor traditional for 7-inch tablets without original inclusions. The front part is devoid of hardware buttons - all controls are included in the touch field.

You will have to physically access the functions through the top end of the Nexus 7. The tablet in this part is equipped with volume control buttons, a micro-USB connector and a niche for an audio headset with a 3.5 mm plug format. By the way, this is not the best place to connect headphones. Users note that during operation the hand tries to grab the top end, which is not always convenient due to the wire. But the memory card fits comfortably into the slot at the bottom.

What does the budget device reveal other than the familiar and devoid of frills form? Of course, the quality of materials. The rear panel in this regard is especially upsetting for ASUS fans who are accustomed to the high quality of the element base. Manufacturers used a non-textured glossy panel. Although it looks good, it is easily scratched during use, not to mention dirt and fingerprints.

On the other hand, the back surface of the Nexus 7 is comfortable in terms of girth - the case fits well in the hand and does not slip. There are no special complaints about the assembly. Here ASUS's responsible approach to creating a reliable product is fully demonstrated.

Device characteristics

In many ways, the expected success of the model is due to the fact that for little money the manufacturers offered a modern gadget with fairly high performance indicators.

This combination of price and characteristics is what makes the ASUS and Google tablet similar to cheap Chinese devices. But it’s one thing to trust a little-known company with a product of dubious quality, and another thing to trust two global giants in the computer equipment segment. At the same time, there were also functional boundaries that Nexus 7 could not go beyond.

The characteristics of the technical base nevertheless look quite decent:

  • The device processor is Nvidia Tegra 1.3 GHz.
  • Number of processor cores - 4.
  • OS - Android 4.2.
  • The volume of integrated memory is 16 GB.
  • The amount of RAM is 1 GB.
  • Screen size - 7 inches.
  • Matrix resolution - 1280x800.
  • The number of pixels is 216 per inch.
  • The front camera is a 1.2 megapixel module.
  • The tablet's standby time is 300 hours.
  • Operating time in active operation mode - 9 hours.
  • Battery capacity - 4325 mAh.
  • Dimensions - 20x12x1 cm.
  • Weight - 340 gr.

The model received many interesting features as additional options. Not only is it the ubiquitous GPS navigator, but it also has automatic screen orientation and a whole host of sensors. Among them are a compass, a gyroscope and a light sensor.

Performance and software

Experts differ in their assessments of the device's power. The processor base looks attractive because it is formed by four cores. But you shouldn’t expect any serious returns from them. The Chinese chip MediaTek MT8125 series was used as a platform, ensuring core operation at a frequency of 1.3 GHz. The result is a mobile processor with high nominal performance, but modest actual power. But this is quite logical for a Nexus 7 level model. A tablet with a more powerful processor would have a different class, not to mention the price tag.

1 GB of RAM organically complements the existing potential. The indisputable advantage of the gadget was the inclusion of 16 GB of memory, while competitive tablets rarely have 8 GB built-in. And out of these 8 declared in practice, it turns out to use only 4 GB. However, the provided 16 GB is reduced to 12 GB, which should be kept in mind. If this volume is not enough, the user will be able to supplement the capacity with a MicroSD card.

In practice, using the processor, it became obvious that it does not live up to the developments from Samsung and Qualcomm. On the other hand, the integrated software on the MediaTek chip functions without problems. The same applies to high-resolution video materials. The basis of the software is Android 4.2 OS, and in a full-format version. ASUS developers only slightly diluted the interface with proprietary widgets and adjusted the notification panel.

The range of applications in Nexus 7 is very extensive and, for the most part, has practical benefits. There are several readers, file managers with task planners, and various add-ons that make using the tablet easier.

Communication capabilities and power

For an inexpensive tablet, the set of communication tools is also quite expected. Modern NFC wireless control technology is not provided here, nor is there a cellular modem. But there is the aforementioned GPS module, Bluetooth data transmission and a Wi-Fi channel.

True, users don’t respond well to Bluetooth’s performance. Many point to its low performance - for example, a file of several megabytes can be transferred in about 10 minutes, which is unforgivable for modern gadgets, even at the initial level. But this flaw of the Nexus 7 is compensated by a fairly tolerable playback of music wirelessly from a third-party source.

As for the Wi-Fi module, there are no problems with its operation. There are reviews that it is unstable outdoors and can generally ignore communication with public access points, but these are rather exceptions, since the overall impression of this function is good.

The navigator supports the A-GPS function and also demonstrates good signal reception. For example, without access to Wi-Fi, it can detect up to 10 satellites, although it only requires 4-5 orientation stations to perform its tasks. The accuracy of determining coordinates is average and, by and large, corresponds to the current generations of gadgets.

A 4325 mAh lithium-polymer battery is responsible for power supply. If we compare this potential with the general segment of 7-inch tablets, then it will be enough. This is the optimal element for models of this type. But it is important to consider that the Nexus 7 charges faster due to the fact that the device requires less energy. The fact is that the model has several energy-saving features, which are expressed by a modest screen resolution and a processor with moderate power. At the same time, the creators also provided an operating mode at minimum settings, which significantly prolongs the tablet’s activity time.

Screen

The seven-inch display is based on an IPS matrix, which provides comfortable viewing angles. That is, for example, the text can be read even if it deviates from the perpendicular position of the working surface relative to the eyes. Contrast, of course, decreases, but not critically compared to other models in the same class. A resolution of 1280x800 pixels with a pixel density of 215 elements per inch is a good indicator, although the latest tablets also have better characteristics.

In any case, the Nexus 7 screen provides decent clarity and detail when viewing photos, videos and texts. The touch control principle via the display does not contradict the advantages indicated above. Presses are detected instantly, without complicating the process of working with the functionality.

The brightness margin is also quite good. The illumination of the white field reaches 331 cd/m2, which covers the disadvantage of the lack of a protective polarization layer. In practice, this means that the display will readily produce glare under sunlight, but the user, even in such conditions, will be able to see the material on the screen with comfort to the eyes.

By the way, working with the Nexus 7 in the dark does not cause any inconvenience. The basic screen settings are also balanced and ready to go. This applies both to the regulation of the gamut of color components with gray gradation, and to the indicators of color rendering itself.

Settings instructions

  1. First of all, this concerns increasing energy efficiency. It is necessary to disable the functions of the wireless data modules and the navigation system if they are not in use. This can be done in the Settings menu, and GPS is disabled in the Location Services section.
  2. Next, you should optimize the traffic consumed by applications, even when they are not in use. Some programs may load photos or other multimedia materials, which affects the connected battery resources.
  3. After this, Nexus 7 is configured via synchronization channels. At this point, it is advisable to create a Google account. It is especially necessary when working with this tablet model, since it makes it possible to update firmware and other software in a timely manner. To register, you will need to set a login and password. The finished account will be synchronized in both directions - both on the device and on the network. There may be several accounts, each of which covers a specific area of operation of the device.
  4. An important step in the setup is protecting the tablet. At a minimum level of security, it is implemented in two ways - by blocking the screen and encrypting materials. In the first case, protection will be provided using a PIN code, which will not allow third parties to control the device. As for encryption, it allows you to hide all data in the device’s memory, from Google accounts to personal content.
  5. After this, you can proceed to setting up Nexus 7 wireless connections. The instructions indicate that when searching for new devices there will be a distance limitation depending on the data transfer method. So, for Wi-Fi it is a radius of 100 m, and “Blue Tooth” works at a distance of 8 m.

Possible malfunctions and repairs

It cannot be said that the described model is short-lived and often breaks down, but, like any device, it has its weak points. For example, many note the loss of touchscreen functionality. It rarely appears during normal operation, but may well occur after disassembling the device.

In such situations, checking the loop and then cleaning it usually helps. To do this, you need to remove the back cover, carefully clean the cable and, if necessary, secure it with fixing tape. In especially severe cases, repair of the Nexus 7 may also be necessary, with replacement of the lower boards, on which there are so-called phantom clicks, that is, false positives.

Another common problem with this device is poor interaction with the charging unit. That is, when the power is connected, energy replenishment does not occur. There can be three reasons for this problem:

  • The USB cable is not connected correctly. In this case, it is necessary to evaluate the reliability of the connection from the charger to the device itself.
  • The charger unit is faulty. As a rule, the only solution is to replace it.
  • The connector is deformed, which is why the Nexus 7 does not charge even with a working power supply unit. In this situation, you also cannot do without updating the functional component.

But users often confuse malfunctions with the normal normal operation of individual functions. For example, the speaker in this device sounds very quiet, and this is not a malfunction. There should be no problems with the GPS navigator at all. If it doesn’t catch a signal, then it really doesn’t exist - this often happens indoors. And for signs of screen detachment and “dead” pixels, you should check the device before purchase.

There is also frequent criticism that the Nexus 7 does not turn on, although it has a fully charged battery. In this case, you need to press the volume and start buttons simultaneously. Next, you need to connect the device to your PC and update the firmware. Most often this trouble is of a software nature.

Positive reviews about the tablet

The model does not have one clear advantage that would cover all the disadvantages. It is appreciated by users for its balance in different performance qualities. Compact dimensions, a relatively powerful processor for its class, a modern OS, a good screen - all this ultimately ensured the success of the Nexus 7.

The line of mobile devices called Nexus began its history in 2010. Its founder was the well-known company Google. She also decides under what brand the devices will be sold. Buyers can already get acquainted with gadgets from the Samsung, HTC, Asus, and LG brands. Undoubtedly, these devices have many advantages. First of all, this is support for updates from Google (and users are among the first to receive them) and the original Android operating system without any shells or other “stuff”.

Since 2010, several Nexus smartphones have been released. And since 2012, tablets also began to go on sale. An expensive version, equipped with a 10-inch display, was released by the Korean company Samsung. There is a more modest device. It is presented under the equally famous Asus brand. The tablet was sold at an affordable price - about 10,000 rubles. It was not equipped with the highest characteristics. But this did not affect his popularity. After the start of sales on the domestic market, Asus Google Nexus 7 immediately fell in love with customers. What exactly did he deserve increased attention, let's figure it out together.

Positioning

When developing mobile devices, manufacturers are guided by certain rules. In order for a new gadget to quickly become a sales leader, it is necessary to optimally balance the price-quality ratio. If you study the market of mobile digital devices in detail, you will find that there are not many such solutions presented. Most cheap devices are made in China. They have a low price, but regarding the characteristics, the developers focus on only one thing. It is precisely this element that makes a certain gadget stand out from a number of similar devices, for example, a powerful battery, a high-resolution screen, and a powerful chipset. At the same time, other characteristics remain at the level of the budget segment.

But when purchasing an Asus Nexus 7 tablet, the buyer is guaranteed to receive a functional device at an affordable price. It has practically no competitors in its price category. The manufacturer claims that all devices in the Nexus line are of high quality, decent performance and a large range of pre-installed software.

The first generation of this model tablet was released back in 2012. A year later, an updated version appeared on the market. According to reviews, it received an excellent rating in terms of build quality, software and data processing speed. Taking into account the low cost, the target audience turned out to be quite diverse. The age range is from 7 to 50 years. A significant advantage, according to buyers, is the 7-inch screen. Thanks to it, the tablet turned out to be quite compact. Its dimensions (20 × 11.4 × 0.86 cm) allow you to carry the device both in a small purse and in your pocket.

After the release of Asus Nexus 7 (LTE and Wi-Fi), sales of the Apple iPad mini dropped sharply. And this did not surprise experts at all, since the partnership of two global giants Google and Asus produces excellent results. Not only American Apple, but also other famous brands had to be nervous.

Design

With a detailed review of the external design of the tablet, you can immediately notice that the developers did not choose the most expensive materials. However, the quality of the plastic did not affect the aesthetics. The second generation of Asus Nexus 7 has lost its perforated rear panel. Whether this is an advantage or a disadvantage is difficult to judge. Externally, both options look good, but in the 2013 modification, the lid began to “collect” fingerprints. Therefore, in terms of soiling, the updated version is somewhat inferior to its predecessor. As for ease of use, the tablet does not slip in your hands, so the risk of accidentally dropping it is minimized.

Most owners immediately noticed the dimensions of the gadget. It looks pretty neat. In their reviews, they call the tablet light, thin and compact. The designers managed to significantly reduce the side edges, making the Asus Nexus 7 easy to grasp with one medium-sized hand.

The front panel is occupied by a large screen. It is framed by a black frame, which noticeably widens at the top and bottom ends. On the back cover are the names of the line (in the center) and the manufacturer's brand (on the left). Also, speakers are located symmetrically along the edges of the panel. For ease of use, all control keys are located on the top end. Connection to a PC is made using a USB cable. The corresponding port is located on the right side. On the opposite side there is a jack for audio devices equipped with a 3.5 mm plug.

Display Features

The developers of the Asus Nexus 7 installed a pretty decent display. They used a common type of matrix - IPS. This technology is already familiar to a large number of users. It provides a high level of color and wide viewing angles. There is no inversion of shades when the phone is tilted.

Screen resolution - 1920 × 1200 px. Considering that the diagonal is 7 inches, the number of pixels per inch is quite large - 323 ppi. By studying user reviews, certain conclusions can be drawn. The tablet is ideal for watching movies and photos. Its image quality is excellent. There is no grain at all. A glass plate was used to protect the screen. It has a smooth surface with a mirror finish. The manufacturer took care of an anti-glare filter when creating the Asus Nexus 7 device. The touchscreen works clearly, quickly and accurately responds to touch. There is no air gap between the matrix and the protective glass. This is what completely eliminates the splitting of displayed objects. There is also an oleophobic coating. Thanks to it, the number of fingerprints left is significantly reduced. This is especially noticeable when compared with simple glass.

The display of Asus Nexus 7 32 Gb is equipped with a large reserve of brightness. This ensures good image display in any ambient light. For example, if you are outside in sunny weather, you can increase the brightness to the limit. The digital figure will be approximately 560 cd/m². And for those who do not like a very bright image, it is recommended to set the minimum value - 10 cd/m². The developers have provided two types of settings: manual and automatic. To operate the second method, there are special light sensors, and to change the brightness level, the user simply needs to enter the menu.

Asus Nexus 7: camera specs

In order not to inflate the cost of the tablet, manufacturers do not use high-resolution cameras. According to most users, this criterion is not significant enough, since basically everyone has a phone. According to statistics, many smartphones with top-end optics have been released recently, and you can choose not only expensive options, but also “state-budget” ones.

The first generation of Asus Nexus 7 had only a front-facing camera. However, at present, such equipment has not been considered relevant for a long time, therefore, with the release of the 2013 modification, this shortcoming was corrected. But can this be considered an advantage? The manufacturer installed a previous generation camera in this tablet. Its maximum is 5 megapixels. The interface is without any special features. As for the front camera (1.2 MP), it is only useful for video communication. Its resolution will not be enough for pictures.

Autonomy

When choosing an Asus Nexus 7 tablet, battery characteristics play an important role. Most users consider Apple devices to be the standard. They are capable of functioning when watching movies for up to 10 hours. Surprisingly, most manufacturers dream of getting closer to this value, but have not yet been able to achieve such results. But the Asus developers almost succeeded. The 7-inch tablet is equipped with a battery that has a capacity of 3950 mAh. According to the manufacturer, when playing video the device will work from 8 (video quality - 720 p) to 10 hours (other modes).

If it is possible to reduce the brightness level to 20%, then the device will be discharged no earlier than after 12 hours. In ordinary life, the tablet’s resource will last approximately 2-3 days (depending on the load level). According to users, a significant disadvantage is the time spent charging the battery. In order to reach 100%, you will need to spend about 3 hours. Most owners try to charge the tablet only at night, since the battery itself is not afraid of overcharging.

Performance

The Asus Nexus 7 tablet, depending on the equipment, runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro 8064 (Wi-Fi) and MDM9215M (LTE) processors. The graphics accelerator is played by a fairly strong video card - GPU Adreno 320. Of course, this device will be significantly inferior to those gadgets that operate on NVIDIA Tegra 4. But will the user suffer much from this? According to experts, the Nexus 7 can easily cope with the tasks at hand - be it applications or games. If you test the Wi-Fi version, you can see that the chipset is based on four computing modules. They work on the 2+2 principle. Each core can be overclocked to 1512 MHz as the load increases. And with a decrease in work processes, the frequency decreases to 384 MHz.

In order to be convinced of the tablet’s performance, just look at the amount of RAM. It is this indicator that will determine how quickly processes and tasks are processed on the device. Asus developers chose to limit themselves to two gigabytes. Such characteristics cannot be considered top-end, but they cannot be called a weakness either. To enhance the capabilities of the tablet, built-in memory is provided. There are two modifications on sale: 16 and 32 GB. There is no expansion method, since the manufacturer did not use a slot for memory cards.

Communications

The manufacturer presented the model range as expanded as possible. It contains Asus Nexus 7 32Gb LTE models with support for third and fourth generation networks, and there is also a simple option that works only with Wi-Fi. According to users, the tablet works well with mobile operators. During operation, no incompatibility was found, the signal is received well. Those who do not like to work with the Internet via a cellular network are encouraged to use the Wi-Fi module. To transfer data, you can use both wired (USB) and wireless (Bluetooth). It is worth noting that most of the laudatory reviews are devoted specifically to the operation of the Bluetooth module.

Multimedia capabilities

Most owners immediately noticed how the browser works in the Asus Nexus 7. Its speed is quite high. You can perform any action on the Internet. The tablet behaves perfectly while surfing, following links, and zooming. Users did not notice any delays or freezes. Buyers can count on the tablet to easily handle modern games. The screen perfectly displays any video in HD quality. If you have problems with the operation of some files, you can download an application that will help fix the problem.

Many have noticed that the sound of the gadget for a mobile device is quite loud. This became possible thanks to the special placement of the speakers. They are located on two opposite sides. If a situation arises where it is necessary to significantly increase the playback volume, the tablet can be connected to acoustic devices.

Delivery and packaging

Asus Nexus 7 3G arrives on store shelves in a rather presentable box. According to buyers, its design is perfect even for a holiday gift. Externally, the packaging container has a glossy finish, which significantly increases its attractiveness. Pleasant light colors were chosen for its design. The basis of the front panels was a blue background. The logos of the manufacturing companies are printed on it in white letters: Asus and Google. Inside the package is the tablet itself. As for accessories, their set is truly modest. The kit includes only the most necessary elements. We are talking about a charger, a key for opening the SIM card tray, a USB cable and, of course, documentation.

Conclusion

So, we can now finish the review of the Asus Nexus 7 3G (32Gb/16Gb) tablet. Feedback from the owners will help you sum it up. It is thanks to them that we can give a real assessment to the joint product of Google and Asus. This tablet model easily copes with all everyday tasks. The gadget works with applications that do not require a large amount of RAM. There are only laudatory reviews about the build quality on the Internet. All users claim that the manufacturer handled the work responsibly, although he used inexpensive materials. There is no play during operation of the tablet. All parts fit perfectly, gaps are minimal. In a word, the quality is at a high level!

Of course, one cannot remain silent about the screen. The image is reproduced on the display in a realistic palette. The clarity and sharpness of the picture is excellent. The touchscreen truly deserves respect, as it responds to any touch. Thanks to it, you can use the tablet even with gloves. Users confidently consider productivity to be an advantage. The four-core processor operates very quickly and copes with a large number of tasks. When working with this device, owners may encounter not only advantages, but also discover disadvantages. Most often, problems arise during a firmware change (system update).
