In this case, you can play Minecraft online. 2 friends must install the same version of the client on both computers. Now the sequence of actions is quite simple:
- One of the players must create a single player game with the desired settings.
- After that, he needs to press ESC and open the game for multiplayer.
- A message will appear in the chat about starting a server with a specific IP address. This is what you need to remember.
- The client also runs on the second computer. Only another player enters the multiplayer mode. If the game does not automatically find the server, then you need to add it by entering the IP that you remembered a little earlier into the search bar.

If your computers are separated by a huge distance and connected exclusively by the Internet, you can also play as a couple. There are different ways to play Minecraft together over the Internet, so first we will look at an option that does not require extensive computer setup.
To do this, you will need to download and install a utility such as Hamachi. Both friends must install it and register, after which one of them creates a server room in the program, to which his friend must connect. This method creates a virtual private network - an analogue of a home local network, only organized via the Internet. A savvy user has probably already realized that further actions are similar to the previous paragraph. There is only one "but". If your computers cannot see each other, then add Hamachi to your firewall and antivirus exceptions.
Internet
If you don’t want to be tricky again? Theoretically, if you download the same version of the client from one site and perform all the same manipulations as in the first case, you will be able to connect to a friend. On the other hand, you can use Minecraft. Download it from any website that specializes in this game, install it and launch it. After that, all you have to do is send out your address to the people you would like to play with. There is nothing complicated about this. So good luck to you in mastering the cubic world and trying with online play. And most importantly, if something doesn’t work out, don’t be discouraged and try again and again, then you will certainly succeed.
Let's start with the fact that you only need a friend and Minecraft itself. To begin with, one of you, for example, you create a world in which you want to play together. It is also very important that you and your friend have the same versions of Minecraft. For example, if you created a world on version 1.8, then your friend should also have version 1.8. Now you need to find out your ip, you can do this on this site, or just type my ip on the Internet. Here is a screenshot from that site (2ip), the arrow shows where your ip will be (click on it and it will be copied) -
After you have found out and copied your IP, temporarily write it down somewhere, for example, in a notepad. Now go into the world and open it to the network, ESC -> Open for the network -> select the necessary parameters and open the world online. Now a port should appear in your chat, for example - 51166 . See screenshot -
Then we take the IP that you learned from the previous paragraph, after the IP we put a colon (the colon is ‘ : ‘) and insert the port after the colon. The port will be displayed in the chat, remember or write it down.
On others - in the “Network Game” menu, select the connection by address, enter the local IPv4 of the first computer, write the port through “:” (for example, 192.168.0.106:50139).
On Windows, you can find it through the command line - write the command “ipconfig”, find the IPv4 address among the information received, copy the value.

VPN
VPN is the same LAN, only its virtual analogue (there is no network itself, but the mechanics are the same). To create a network you will need special software, for example LogMeIn Hamachi. You need to again create a world and open it over the network, but you will need to look up the IP connections in the program itself.
Server: connection
Servers Minecraft available for connection, as a rule, for all players. Servers run only on the stated versions (for example, exclusively on 1.7.10, or any version from 1.8.9 to 1.10.2). To access a server, you must know its IP address or domain name. They can be added to the list or connected by address.
Servers with mods require a specific build. It can be installed via the Twitch/Curse launcher or downloaded from the Internet.
Server: creation
There are several ways to create a server.
The most logical thing is to use game server hosting services. Typically a control panel, console, and access to an FTP server are provided. Sometimes the tariff includes a web server and dedicated IP. Servers are issued in the VDS format (virtual dedicated server, only part of the server equipment is issued) or Dedicated Server (a separate board, much more powerful than VDS). Hosted servers operate 24 hours a day.
There are also several free hosting sites, but usually there is no access to FTP, the hardware is very weak, you need to extend the server from the site or wait in line to turn it on.
But, if you have a permanent IP and good Internet speed (at least 10 Mbit/s), and your computer can handle a fairly heavy background process, then in principle you can keep the server on your computer. You will need to download the server core and run it. Since it will create many of its own folders, it is better to download it to a separate directory. It is also necessary to open ports for Minecraft. This can be done using special programs; you will also have to configure the router/modem correctly.
Servers Minecraft Realms is hosted by Mojang AB. The servers are optimized for 10 players, there is no access to FTP or server configurations, but there are several exclusive mini-games only available on Realms. There are 2 tariffs for PE servers - for 2 players, for 10 players. The exact hardware of the servers is unknown.
The cost of realms is completely unreasonable. 480 rubles per month for 10 online players and mini-games is quite strange, considering that the free plugins for Bukkit (server core) are comparable to Realms mini-games.
There are many implementations of Minecraft multiplayer, but each is suitable for specific tasks. LAN and VPN - for a small group of people. Servers are universal, you can create a small private server or a huge project. Realms is a great way to lose money and get a 10 player server.
