Removing recovery. System Recovery Attempts to do everything possible to convince you that your computer hard drive is faulty

In the main WinSetupFromUSB window, select the name of our flash drive.

Put a tick on the item Auto format it with FBinst and check the FAT32 box,

Check the box Vista/7/8/Server 2008/2012 based ISO and click on the button that opens the Explorer window.

Explorer opens, find it on the computer ISO image Live CD AOMEI PE Builder and select it with the left mouse, click "Open".

Click “GO”.

"Yes"

Creation begins bootable flash drive Live CD AOMEI PE Builder.

The bootable USB flash drive is ready.

"OK"

We boot the laptop from the bootable USB flash drive Live CD AOMEI PE Builder. Our flash drive is universal; from it you can boot a laptop with a UEFI interface, as well as a regular BIOS.

Press “Enter” on the keyboard.

The Live CD AOMEI PE Builder desktop loads, which is a regular Live CD on Windows based 8.1.

We connect a portable USB hard drive or a regular flash drive with a capacity of 16-32 GB to the laptop.

Click on the button Windows Disk Management.

In disk management, three drives connected to the laptop are visible.

Disk 0. Laptop hard drive with all partitions:

The first hidden partition without a letter, volume 450 MB, contains the environment Windows recovery 8.1.

The second hidden partition without a letter, volume 100 MB, with EFI system partition (contains the boot configuration store (BCD) and operating system boot files).

Section (C:) with installed Windows 8.1 which won't load.

Section (D:) with user data files.

The last hidden partition without a letter, volume 20.37 GB, is where the factory image of Windows 8.1 is located. We need to enter this section and copy the factory WIM image to a portable USB hard drive (I’ll explain why later).

Disc 1. Bootable USB flash drive Live CD AOMEI PE Builder.

Disc 2. Portable USB hard drive, capacity 1 TB.

Before work, the drive (C:) needs to be formatted. Right-click on it and select “Format”

"OK"

The drive (C:) is formatted.

Launch the command line

and assign a letterhidden partition, volume 20.37 GB.

Enter the commands:

diskpart

lis vol (list all hard drive partitions)

sel vol 5 (using this command we select hidden RECOVERY partition without a letter, volume 20.37 GB, with a factory image of Windows 8.1)

assign (the command assigns a letter to the hidden partition).

Open the My Computer window and see that the hidden partition is assigned a letter (E:), go to this partition.

First of all, turn on the display hidden files and folders, otherwise we will not see the factory WIM image with Windows 8.1, since it has the Hidden attribute. Left-click on View and check the box “Hidden” items ( Hidden elements)

Next we look in the folders factory WIM image. On my laptop it is in the folder"Factory" is called install.wim. Regardless of the laptop manufacturer, the file containing the factory image of Windows called install.wim.

Sometimes this file divided into several files with the extension .swm I will also explain to you what to do with these files later in the article.

So, let's copy our file install.wim to a portable USB hard drive. Right-click on the file and select"Copy"

Go to the partition (H:) of the portable USB hard drive.

Click on empty space right mouse and select Paste.

File install.wim is copied to the partition (H:).

File install.wim is copied to the partition (H:).

Friends, now all we have to do is expand the contents of the file using the command line install.wim(factory image of Windows 8.1) to disk (C:), for this you need to enter only one command, but you need to enter it correctly, the file index must be indicated in the commandinstall.wim and it's easy to define.

Any install.wim file must have a so-called image index and in the next command we must specify it. To determine the image index of the install.wim file, open the command line and enter the command:

DISM /Get-WimInfo /WimFile:H:\install.wim

Where H:, the drive letter where the file is located install.wim.

As you can see, the image index 1 .

In accordance with this, we introduce next command:

imagex /apply /check H:\install.wim 1 C:\

where image /apply /check H:\install.wim 1 C:\, means unpack the file install.wim from disk (H:) with the image checked for errors, on disk (C:), and 1 is the image index.

Unpacking begins Windows image 8.1 from file install.wim to drive (C:). In other words, we did it using the command line and the utility ImageX is what the factory reset program was supposed to do - deploy the factory image from the hidden partition to the (C:) drive.

Progress 100%. Unpacking completed successfully. Factory Windows 8.1 deployed to disk (C:)!

Reboot the laptop and enter the final phase Windows installations 8.1.

We do not change the language and regional settings.

We accept the terms of the license agreement.

The laptop manufacturer may ask you to create your ID and register the system. You can refuse by unchecking the appropriate boxes.

Enter the computer name.

You can immediately set up an Internet connection via WI-FI or refuse.

"Skip this step".

You can manually configure the settings, as I told you how to do this.

Or you can “Use standard parameters»

Enter your username and click “Finish”

Windows 8.1 is loading.

When you connect to the Internet, the operating system is automatically activated.

I foresee your questions:

1. Hello admin! You found out the image index install.wim using the utilityDISM, why didn’t you further deploy the image using it?

Yes, you are right, you can use the DISM utility, the command will look like this:

Dism /apply-image /imagefile:H:\install.wim /index:1 /ApplyDir:C:\

but since Windows 7 I’ve gotten used to the ImageX utility, DISM does the same thing, but the commands are 2 times longer, which means the likelihood of errors (especially for an inexperienced user) increases.

2. Why transfer the install.wim file from a hidden partition of the laptop hard drive to a portable one? hard drive USB?

Basically, it doesn't matter where the file is located install.wim, and on the command line you can specify the full path to the file, for example, in my case, the command would look like this:

imagex /apply /check E:\OKRBackup\Factory\install.wim 1 C:\

3. What should I do if there is no file on my laptop in the hidden section? install.wim, and there is a group of files:

install4.swm...?

In this case, you need to add a key ref and the command will look like this:

imagex /apply /check /ref H:\install*.swm H:\install.swm 1 C:\

If you use DISM, the command will look like this:

Dism /apply-image /imagefile:H:\Install.Swm /SWMFile:H:\install*.swm /index:1 /ApplyDir:C:\

4. After expanding the file install.wim, Windows boot loader 8.1 gave an error. What to do?

It is better to restore the bootloader in a recovery environment. There is a shortcut to go to the environment on the Live CD AOMEI PE Builder desktop WIN recovery 8.1 - Windows Recovery Environment.

5. I have a 32-bit operating system and your image Live CD AOMEI PE Builder 64 bit, not suitable for me.

Surely any operating system user Windows systems knows that in the event of unexpected critical failures, their functionality can be restored. This is the responsibility of the Windows recovery partition, which stores the files necessary to perform such a procedure. However, they take up quite a lot of hard drive space (sometimes up to 15 GB, as in Windows 8). This is especially noticeable on small-capacity hard drives. And many, quite rightly, are beginning to wonder about freeing up space, which is occupied by the notorious recovery section.

How to remove it and whether it can be done at all, we will consider further. But I would like to immediately warn all users that when performing this procedure you will have to, as they say, sweat, and such actions should be performed only at your own peril and risk.

What is a recovery partition and is it necessary?

The partition itself, as is already clear, is reserved space on the hard drive, moreover, in the system partition where the installed OS is located.

As a rule, depending on the modification of the system, its size may vary, but usually it is approximately 300-500 MB. The Recovery folder is located here, which contains a WindowsRE directory with a Winre.wim image embedded in it. It also seems completely logical that all this is hidden from the user’s eyes, so that he does not accidentally (or intentionally) delete necessary tools recovery.

But the matter does not stop there. There are two more hidden partitions on the disk, the existence of which the user does not even know. This is an EFI system partition with a size of about 100 MB and an MSR partition with a size of 128 MB responsible for GPT partitioning. Thus, for example, the question of how to remove the recovery partition in Windows 10 comes down to removing not one, but three whole partitions from the system disk in order to attach them to the available space.

It must be said that not all users realize that system recovery tools can be found both on installation media and on special disks for rolling back and eliminating system errors. Therefore, in some cases, you can not only hide the recovery partition, but also delete it, as they say, without a twinge of conscience. Several methods can be proposed for this.

Will reinstalling delete the recovery partition?

First, a few words about re-installation. Some users naively believe that reinstalling Windows 10 or any other modification with full formatting of the system disk will destroy the above partitions.

Nothing like this! Yes, at the stage of selecting a disk for installing the OS, absolutely all partitions will be displayed, and formatting will actually combine them into one. But in a “clean” system, which the user receives immediately after installation, automatic recovery system is activated by default, so the OS itself, whether you like it or not, again reserves space on the hard drive, where it writes necessary information At once.

Recovery partition: how to delete via command line?

So, let's start with the most difficult, but absolutely effective method, which involves using the command console (cmd), which must be launched with administrator rights.

But before that you need to do a few things simple actions. First you need to create a recovery disk. If the “Recovery” menu is used in the “Control Panel”, you will need a flash drive; if the backup and recovery section is used, you will need optical media. A flash drive with a capacity of 64 GB or higher is convenient because it can be loaded with full data from the recovery partition itself (but more on that later).

Next, the solution to the problem of how to remove the recovery partition from hard drive, is to select the line in the update and security menu, which is located in the parameters section special options download (for Windows 10) or install removable media as the first boot device in the BIOS.

After the restart, at the beginning of the installation of the operating system, the combination Shift + F10 is called command line, in which the following commands are written sequentially:

  • diskpart;
  • lis dis (list of all partitions);
  • sel dis 0 (select a drive with the installed OS);
  • lis par (view sections);
  • sel par 1 (select first section);
  • del par override (deleting the first partition);
  • sel par 2 (select second section);
  • del par override (deleting the second partition);
  • sel par 3 (select the third section);
  • del par override (deleting the third partition);
  • create par efi size=100 (creates an encrypted EFI partition with a size of 100 MB);
  • create par msr size=128 (creates an MSR partition with a size of 128 MB);
  • lis vol (view sections);
  • exit (exit diskpart);
  • bcdboot C:\Windows (installation of boot partition);
  • exit (complete exit from the console).

Disk management using AOMEI program

The reboot field should, for ease of further operations, use the AOMEI application, select the disk to which you want to attach the space, and then use the resize/move line in the menu on the left side.

Next, you select moving the partition, and drag the slider to the limit (to completely allocate all the space for drive C. Be sure to pay attention that after such actions there are zeros on the “Unallocated space before” line.

Click “OK” and “Apply”. In the window of pending operations that appears, click the go button, after which you need to agree with the instructions in the message. After this, a black space freeing mode window will appear. Once the process is complete, the recovery partition will be deleted and the free space will be added to the system partition.

Method for Windows 8 and higher

Now about how to delete the recovery partition in Windows versions 8 and higher (in the seventh modification and lower, this solution does not work).

Remember when we talked about creating a bootable flash drive at the first stage? So, if you check the box next to the line Reserve copy, the entire section, user files and programs can be transferred to this particular medium. True, this may even require several hours and a flash drive larger than 64 GB.

But at the end of the process, the system itself will offer to delete the desired recovery partition. We agree and immediately see how much space is freed up.

Conclusion

It remains to be said that deleting the desired partition is advisable only in cases where recovery in any situation is planned to be carried out exclusively from removable media, which must be created in advance. If for some reason it is not at hand, the system will be rolled back even in factory condition Without reinstallation it will be absolutely impossible.

After installing Windows 10, the user may notice a small hidden partition (from 300 to 450 MB). It contains the “Recovery” folder, and in it there is a “WindowsRE” directory with a WIM image (Winre.wim), which contains system recovery tools. The same tools are available on the installation media. Therefore, users are often interested in how to delete the recovery partition on a Windows 10 hard drive by adding it to the total volume. Let's take a closer look at this process.

Step-by-step instructions for deleting the Windows 10 recovery partition

If you click “Start”, “Settings”, select the “Update and Security” section, and then “Recovery”, “Special boot options” and click “Restart now”, the system will restart the computer and you will be taken to the operating system setup environment.

In this environment, you can select System Restore, Roll Back to More early state, execute various settings using the command line.

Despite the usefulness of all these tools, they are available on installation disk or flash drive. Therefore, if you are sure that Windows rollback 10 and you will correct errors using installation media, the recovery partition can be deleted. You can do this as follows:

  • Create bootable media of the same version and Windows bit depth 10, what you have installed (if there is no previously created installation flash drive or disk).
  • Then we boot from this flash drive. The operating system installation window will appear. Press the key combination “Shift+F10”. The command line will appear.

  • Next, we introduce the following tasks in order.
  1. Diskpart;
  2. lis dis (a list of all installed disks);
  3. sel dis 0 (select the drive with Windows 10 installed);
  4. lis par (command to view disk partitions).

  1. Use the following commands to delete three hidden partitions in Windows 10:
  • Recovery 450 MB;
  • System partition 100 MB or (EFI);
  • MSR 128 MB. This is the section that is required for GPT markup(it is not visible in disk management).
  1. We leave only the partition with the installed operating system. To delete these three partitions, enter the following commands in order:
  • sel par 1 (first section);
  • del par override (delete the first section);
  • sel par 2 (second section);
  • del par override (delete the second section);
  • sel par 3 (third section);
  • del par override (delete the third section).

  1. At the next stage, enter create par efi size=100 to create an encrypted (EFI) system partition in 100 MB.
  2. Next, enter format fs=FAT3 (to format and create a partition in FAT32).
  3. Now we create a partition of 128 MB, entered the command create par msr size=128.
  4. Click lis vol. A list of disk partitions will appear. We see that the partition with Windows 10 is assigned a drive letter (C:).

IMPORTANT! In your case there may be a different letter.

  1. Type exit to exit diskpart.
  2. bcdboot C:\Windows, where C is the letter of the partition with the operating system installed.
  3. Exit.

After completing these operations, you should restart your computer. Now go to “Disk Management”.

IN this tool We see that the deletion was successful and freed space appeared. It needs to be connected to local disk C. For this purpose we use the AOMEI Partition Assistant Standard Edition program.

  • Let's launch the program. We select the disk to which we want to attach free space. From the menu on the left, select “Resize/Move.”

  • Check the box “I need to move this partition” and drag the slider to the limit to give all the space to drive C.

IMPORTANT! Make sure there are zeros in the “Unallocated space” section.

  • Click “OK” and click “Apply”.

  • Next a window will open. Click “Go”.

  • The computer monitor will blink as the program enters a special boot mode. A window will appear. Click “Yes”.

  • The system will reboot. On a black background, the freed space will be appended.

The recovery partition on Windows has been deleted and joined to the shared space.

File Recovery is a recently released fake PC optimization tool that appears to be designed to replace Data Recovery scamware that has been active in recent months. File Recovery virus should never be stored on the system as it leads to continuous computer problems associated with data loss, other program failures and system slowdown. Keep in mind that this program is fake and should be eliminated as soon as you find it on your computer. Once it gets there, it starts showing annoying warnings and scan reports about problems found on the hard drive, random access memory, registry and GPU. The File Recovery virus will additionally offer you to purchase its licensed version as a tool that can fix everything. Instead of doing this, we strongly recommend that you remove the File Recovery virus and forget these problems, because they are all made up and fake.

How can I get infected with FILE RECOVERY?

The File Recovery virus uses various methods when it decides to enter a system - it seeks to infect PCs through old Java versions, Flash or PDF Reader updates or fake video codecs. In addition, it can easily use Trojans that can pass through the security holes it finds. All this is done secretly from the user and does not even require your permission. Once it gets inside, the malicious File Recovery will launch along with every system reboot and display warnings and scan reports like these or similar:

Hard drive boot sector reading error

System blocks were not found

Error 0x00000024 - NTFS_FILE_SYSTEM

Error 0x00000078 - INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

Error 0x0000002E - DATA_BUS_ERROR

Error 0x00000050 - PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

The DRM attribute value is too small before disk scan

System blocks were not found
This is most likely occurred because of hard disk failure.
This may also lead to a potential loss of data.

Hard Drive Boot Sector Reading Error

During I/O system initialization, the boot device driver might have failed to initialize the boot device. File system initialization might have failed because it did not recognize the data on boot device.

Rest assured that these hard drive, memory and registry failures are nothing more than invented problems that should never be considered serious. In addition, this malware prompts you to perform several scans hard drives that messages about a given falsification error may be pre-conceived. However, despite this, it appears that Reliable File Recovery is nothing more than a useless program that seeks to get money for its self-invented “Repair” service. We strongly recommend that you do not pay for the license and remove the File Recovery virus instead.

How to remove file recovery virus?

Firstly, you should turn off File Recovery processes using . Process Explorer or Rkill. If you are disconnected from the network, reboot your infected computer into safe mode with network support first. Moreover, you should also check your computer is completely normal.

Also, run and to remove all rootkit infections and files from File Recovery.

If you can't run these programs, enter this registration code- so that your virus would think that the purchase of a licensed version has been made.
Execute full check computer, then delete all infected files.

Anyone who takes the first steps in learning the procedure for flashing Android devices initially pays attention to the most common way to carry out the process - flashing firmware through recovery. Android Recovery– a recovery environment that almost all users of Android devices have access to, regardless of the type and model of the latter. Therefore, the method of flashing firmware through recovery can be considered as the most simple way update, change, restore or completely replace the device software.

How to flash an Android device using factory recovery

Almost every device running Android OS is equipped by the manufacturer with a special recovery environment that provides, to some extent, ordinary users, the ability to manipulate the internal memory of the device, or more precisely, its sections.

It should be noted that the list of operations that are available through the “native” recovery installed in devices by the manufacturer is very limited. As for the firmware, only official firmware and/or updates are available for installation.

In some cases, through factory recovery, you can install a modified recovery environment (custom recovery), which in turn will expand the capabilities of working with firmware.

At the same time, it is quite possible to carry out the main actions for restoring functionality and updating the software through factory recovery. For installation official firmware or updates distributed in the format *.zip, perform the following steps.

1. To install the firmware, you will need an installation zip package. Download the required file and copy it to the device’s memory card, preferably to the root. You may also need to rename the file before manipulation. In almost all cases, the appropriate name isupdate.zip

2. Boot into the factory recovery environment. Methods to access recovery vary for different models devices, but they all require the use of hardware key combinations on the device. In most cases desired combination - « Volume-» + « Nutrition» .

Press the "" button on the device that is turned off. Volume-" and, holding it, press the " Nutrition" After the device screen turns on, the “ Nutrition"you need to let go, and " Volume-» Continue holding until the recovery environment screen appears.

3. To install the software or its individual components in the memory partitions you will need the recovery main menu item –« apply update from external SD card» , select it.

4. In the list of files and folders that opens, we find the package previously copied to the memory cardupdate.zipand press the selection confirmation key. The installation will begin automatically.

5. Upon completion of copying the files, reboot into Android by selecting the item in recovery« reboot system now» .

How to flash a device through a modified recovery

Modified (custom) recovery environments have a much wider range of capabilities for working with Android devices. One of the first to appear, and today a very common solution, is the recovery from the ClockworkMod team.

Installing CWM Recovery

Since CWM recovery is an unofficial solution, you will need to install a custom recovery environment on your device before use.

1. Official way recovery installations from the developers ClockworkMod is an Android application ROM Manager. Using the program requires root rights on the device.

Load ROM Manager into Play Store or from our website

  • Download, install, launch.

  • On the main screen, tap " Recovery Setup» , then under the inscription« Install or update recovery» - paragraph « ClockworkMod Recovery» . Scroll through the list of device models that opens and find your device.

  • The next screen after selecting a model is the screen with the button « Install ClockworkMod»

  • After a short time, the required file will be downloaded completely and the process will begin CWM installations Recovery. Before you start copying data to the device’s memory section, the program will ask you to grant it root rights. After receiving permission, the process of recording the recovery will continue, and upon completion a message will appear confirming the success of the procedure « Successfully flashed ClockworkMod recovery» .

  • The installation process of the modified recovery is completed, press the button " OK» and exit the program.

2. If the device is not supported ROM application Manager or the installation does not proceed correctly, you must use other installation methods CWM Recovery. Methods applicable to various devices are described in the articles listed below.

  • For Samsung devices, in most cases the application is used Odin. More details here - ( Flashing Samsung Android devices using the Odin program)
  • For devices built on the MTK hardware platform, the application is used Firmware for Android devices based on MTK via SP FlashTool)
  • The most universal method, but at the same time the most dangerous and difficult, is flashing recovery via Fastboot . The steps taken to install recovery using this method are described in detail at the link:

Firmware via CWM

Using a modified recovery environment, you can flash not only official updates, but also custom firmware, as well as various components systems represented by crackers, add-ons, improvements, kernels, radio, etc.

It is worth noting the presence large quantity versions of CWM Recovery, so after logging into various devices you can see a slightly different interface - background, design, may be present touch control and so on. In addition, some menu items may or may not be present.

The examples below use the most standard version modified CWM recovery.
At the same time, in other modifications of the environment, when flashing the firmware, items are selected that have the same names as in the instructions below, i.e. A slightly different design should not cause concern to the user.

In addition to design, the management of CWM actions differs in different devices. Most devices use the following scheme:

  • Hardware key " Volume+» - move one point up;
  • Hardware key " Volume-» - move one point down;
  • Hardware key " Nutrition" and/or " Home"- confirmation of choice.

So, the firmware.

1. Prepare the zip packages necessary for installation into the device. We download them from Global Network and copy it to the memory card. In some versions of CWM you can also use internal memory devices. Ideally, the files are placed in the root of the memory card and renamed using short, clear names.

2. Enter CWM Recovery. In most cases, the same scheme is used as for entering the factory recovery - pressing a combination of hardware buttons on the switched off device. You can also reboot into the recovery environment from ROM Manager.

3. Before us main screen recovery. Before you start installing packages, in most cases, you need to do " wipe» sections « Cache" And " Data“, - this allows you to avoid many mistakes and problems in the future.

  • If you plan to clean only the “ Cache", select the item " wipe cache partition ", confirm the deletion of data - item " YesWipe Cache" We wait for the process to complete – the following message will appear at the bottom of the screen: “ Сache wipe complete».

  • The section “ Data" Select the item “ wipe data/factory reset", then confirmation " Yes – Wipe all user data" Next, the process of cleaning the partitions will follow and a confirmation message will appear at the bottom of the screen: “ Data wipe complete».

4. Let's move on to the firmware. To install the zip package, select “install zip from sdcard» and confirm your choice by pressing the corresponding hardware key. Then select the item “choose zip from sdcard».

5. A list of folders and files available on the memory card opens. We find the package we need and select it. If the installation files were copied to the root of the memory card, you will have to scroll to the bottom of the list to display them.

6. Before starting the firmware procedure, recovery again requires confirmation of awareness of your own actions and understanding of the irreversibility of the procedure. Select the item “ YesInstall *** .zip", where *** is the name of the package being flashed.

7. The firmware procedure will begin, accompanied by the appearance of log lines at the bottom of the screen and the filling of the progress bar.

8. After the inscription “ Install from sdcard complete"The firmware can be considered complete. Reboot into Android by selecting “ reboot system now" on the main screen.

Firmware via TWRP Recovery

In addition to the solution from the ClockworkMod developers, there are other modified recovery environments. One of the most functional solutions of this kind is TeamWin Recovery (TWRP). About how to flash devices with using TWRP described in the article:

This is how Android devices are flashed through recovery environments. It is necessary to take a balanced approach to the choice of recovery and the method of installing them, and also flash only the appropriate packages obtained from reliable sources into the device. In this case, the process proceeds very quickly and does not cause any problems later.
