T-virus in films

It was developed by Dr. Charles Ashford to treat his daughter Angela. She, like the doctor himself, had a certain disease, due to which she would not have been able to walk without the T-virus. The Umbrella Corporation took advantage of the doctor’s invention and conducted research on this virus in the underground complex “Hive” (translated as “Anthill” in the second part of the film) under Racoon-City.

The virus escapes from the laboratory when Spencer Parks (Alice's husband) breaks a flask containing the virus and steals other flasks containing samples of the virus and antivirus. The virus spreads through ventilation throughout the underground complex. The complex's computer system - the Red Queen - kills all employees to prevent the spread of the virus. But the virus has already affected people and, dying, they turn into zombies. However, there is a fairly significant inconsistency in the films related to the virus. At the very beginning of the first film, the viewer sees how the virus spreads through the underground laboratory through the ventilation. Since there are no freely moving forms of life in the laboratory, except for people (and no one was infected before the virus leaked), we can conclude that transmission of the infection occurs by airborne droplets (or dissolved in water (or other liquid, which has a central the computer flooded the laboratories, as can be seen in one of the scenes) the virus infected the drowned people, which, in fact, is quite feasible and is shown to us in the second film). In accordance with this fact, the question arises: why was the special forces unit not infected as soon as they entered the laboratory (without respiratory protection devices), and after them all the heroes of the other films? This is not explained in any way in the films; from all the dialogues related to the virus, one can only learn that infection occurs only through direct contact of the strain with blood, that is, through the bite of a mutant.

The virus comes to the surface because the corporation opens the “Hive” in the hope of finding out what happened there. The T-virus is one of the most dangerous among its kind; it is the basis of many other viruses that are popular with a number of bioterrorists. In 1978, scientist James Marcus crosses the Ancestor virus from the Staircase to the Sun flowers with leech DNA to create the T-virus. In many ways it is similar to ordinary viruses, but not in everything. Since the T-virus can come into contact with the cell membrane, it can recode the very genetic component that is responsible for the functions of the elementary unit of the body. As a result, the cell begins to reproduce the original virus and infect others. The process becomes irreversible, and then the body becomes completely infected with the virus.

The T-virus first kills and then replaces mitochondrial organelles. The virus then combines with other cells. It takes control of neurons and is able to control the lower functions of a creature's brain, even if the owner has already died. Therefore, a person infected with the T-virus will finally die only when his brain is destroyed. The virus is unique to each creature, as it includes the DNA of the host, so sometimes the signs of the virus may differ in different animals.

However, the T-Virus can only function properly when it receives energy. It is because of this that those infected with the virus attack other people and try to taste fresh flesh in order to maintain their performance. Victims of the virus have only one instinct left - to eat. But it is still unknown how long a zombie (that’s what people who have been infected are called) can live without “food.”

If a person has been infected, the T-virus first destroys almost completely his brain, leaving only the cerebellum to control behavior. During infection, there is a massive release of neurotransmitters, enzymes and hormones such as norepinephrine, or norepinephrine as it is called, and dopamine. Because of this, those infected often exhibit the following symptoms: anger, constant hunger, aggressiveness. A person can become infected from just one zombie bite.

VIRUS ANCESTOR

The beginning of the history of the virus The ancestor lies in West Africa. It was opened on December 4, 1966 by Lord Oswell Spencer. This is a very powerful mutagen, which at certain doses can cause cancer; it played a huge role in the culture of the West African N'dipaya tribe. This virus is contained in the “Stairway to the Sun” flowers. This name comes from a tribal custom during which a new ruler was elected. Attempts to grow flowers correctly under other conditions did not yield results: they did not contain the virus. It can be assumed that for its appearance certain local environmental factors are needed: soil and the right amount of solar energy.

It is known that those who consume the “Staircase to the Sun” flower increase their physical strength and mental development. With large consumption of this flower, a person can increase in height by approximately 1.5-2 times, but this has consequences. If with small doses of the virus a person may not receive any harm, then with large doses one can go crazy or die due to changes in the human structure that are incompatible with life.

There are two known types of experimental Ancestor virus: type-A and type-B. The first cannot connect with human DNA, which is why the infected person subsequently dies, although for several days he has a more developed mind and strength. Type-B can connect to a person's DNA, but it affects the brain too much, thereby damaging it, rendering the test subject useless.

The Ancestor virus was discovered by Lord Oswell Spencer on December 6, 1966 in West Africa. Direct research at this time was carried out by Dr. James Marcus and his student Brand Bailey. The doctor, having made all the preparations, took a sample of the Stairway to the Sun flower containing the virus and left Africa. However, all attempts to grow a flower with the virus under other conditions were unsuccessful. Marcus suggested that those West African environmental factors were needed for the Ancestor to appear.

Despite long attempts to grow a flower with a virus in other conditions, the organization of virus production was not launched. There was not enough money, there was no progress, but Spencer in March 1967 was already planning to create a company that would directly study viruses and their effect on people and other creatures. His idea was not supported by Brand Bailey, since there was no progress in studying the virus, and Dr. Marcus agreed with Oswell, as long as nothing interfered with the scientist’s research.

In November 1967, construction of the Spencer mansion, whose architect was George Trevor, was completed. Hidden in the depths of the house was a new laboratory for researching the virus. The first subjects to study the Ancestor were the architect's wife, Jessica, and daughter, Lisa. Since the virus did not develop in Jessica, she was shot, and experiments continued on Lisa.

In 1968, an African expedition began to displace the N'dipaya tribe from their native lands. All this was done in order to find the site of the legendary Garden of the Sun and gain access to the flowers and the virus. In July, Edward Ashford, one of the founders of the Umbrella company, becomes the first European to die due to intoxication with the Ancestor virus. In August, the expedition manages to break through to the Garden of the Sun and Doctor Marcus and Bailey set up a research laboratory there. However, Dr. Marcus was forced to leave Africa because Spencer gave him the position of manager of Umbrella's research center. In September, Bailey begins sending samples of the virus from Africa directly to Marcus.

In January 1987, James Marcus crosses the Ancestor virus with leech DNA, creating the T-virus. In 1988, the doctor was murdered by two of his most trusted employees, William Birkin and Albert Wesker. The order came from James' former comrade, Lord Spencer. Wesker and Birkin continued their research in the isolated Arkhlaian laboratory. Here, under Spencer's supervision, Dr. Birkin continued to experiment on Trevor's daughter Lisa. These experiments led to the creation of the G virus in the future.

In 2006, Lord Spencer, already in his mature years, met with Albert Wesker to discuss plans to revive Umbrella, which had already been closed by that time, and for world domination. Oswell, who has become arrogant, believes that only he is allowed to become a god with the help of a new virus. In a fit of pride and vanity, he tells Wesker that even Albert himself is an experiment in crossing the Ancestor virus with humans. An experiment was conducted that was called "Wesker's Children". Children were raised, they received the best education and training in their chosen field, then they were injected with a virus to further enhance their abilities. But only two survivors are known: Albert and Alex Wesker. Upon learning this, Albert killed Lord Oswell Spencer and decided to use the power that the Ancestor gives for his own purposes in creating another virus known as Ouroboros.

G-VIRUS

The G-virus is one of the most terrible and successful creations of the Umbrella company. It is unknown when the development of this virus began. The impetus for the development of the virus was a primitive chemical sample extracted from the body of Lisa Trevor, the daughter of the architect of the Spencer mansion, which was located directly above the laboratories, after she was injected with NE-α type. Someone infected with the G-virus can forcibly introduce embryos with the infection into another organism. And then the virus will develop in the creature’s body. But the success of this procedure largely depends on the organism into which the embryos were implanted. They acquire not only the properties of the virus itself, but the host also influences them. Therefore, embryos usually do not take root, which is why such an infected person dies painfully. But if the host and the organism into which the embryos were implanted are relatives (they have almost the same blood), then the possibility of the virus engrafting increases significantly.

There is also another important feature that distinguishes the G-virus from the T. If the T-virus increases the metabolic rate of the body, while destroying many host cells, then the G-virus, on the contrary, revives the cells, leading to the complete revival of a dead creature.

But there were also disadvantages that did not allow the G-virus to become widespread. Although he had enormous power, the unpredictability of mutations and uncontrollability reduced this plus to a minus. While those infected with the T-virus always took almost the same form, and mutations could be controlled, those infected with the G-virus could turn into anyone of any size and shape. The only similarity between all those infected with this virus is the huge third eye near the right shoulder, if it is a person. Also, in the future, the person infected with the G virus can continue to mutate when receiving new damage, taking on new forms. To correct this problem, the Umbrella company tried to create such a virus that could control the same enormous power and could be controlled. As a result, a new t+G virus was created. There is only one vaccine in case of accidental introduction of infected embryos into the human body. The code name of the antivirus is “DEVIL”. However, the vaccine does not eliminate the G-virus directly from the body, it only suppresses it and reduces the effects of the infection to zero.William Birkin is considered the main creator of the G-virus; the scientist devoted most of his life to studying it. Ouroboros is based on the Ancestor virus and was created by Albert Wesker. There were descriptions of animals, insects, minerals, inhabitants and their traditions, folklore and culture of local tribes, topography of the area. Already in the 20th century, the then young Lord Oswell Spencer read this encyclopedia and became interested in the customs of the N’dipaya tribe associated with the “Stairway to the Sun” flower. He thought that the plant would help take human evolution to a new level.

Then, having assembled a team, in 1960 Lord Spencer went to West Africa. They are unable to immediately gain access to the flower, but on December 4, 1966, they obtain the Ancestor virus, which played a large role in the creation of modern bioterrorism weapons. Realizing the full potential of Stairway to the Sun, Spencer and his team occupy the ancient ruins of the city of N'dipaya, which have belonged to the tribe for hundreds of years. Despite the resistance of most of the Aboriginal people, who consumed large quantities of the flower in the hope of protecting their ancestral lands, the indigenous people were pushed back. Having gained access to the "Stairway to the Sun", which for a strange reason grew only in those places, the team immediately set up a laboratory in the ruins and began to study the mysterious properties of the flower.Immediately after this, the Umbrella company was founded, which directly began to study the Ancestor virus and its possible introduction into pharmaceuticals. However, the research moved in the wrong direction, experiments were carried out even on people, there were many victims... Because of this, Lord Spencer was afraid that their immoral developments and experiments would become known to the public and Umbrella would be criticized, so the laboratory in Africa was classified (about it only the most senior employees knew) so that even if the company closed, their legacy would live on.

In the future, Albert Wesker, one of Umbrella's former employees, took advantage of this; he realized the full power of the Ancestor virus. And it was Albert who attracted investment from Tricell Africa into this project when Umbrella was closed.

And immediately after the murder of Spencer by Wesker in 2006, a new era in the creation of bioweapons begins, the development of a new virus that could make the carrier a “god” if he survived its introduction - and that’s how Ouroboros appeared. With its help it was planned to create a completely new society.

The first attempts to create the Ouroboros virus failed. It turned out to be too poisonous; instead of enhancing the abilities of those infected, the virus killed them. However, Wesker was not going to give up. One of the subjects was Jill Valentine, a member of the BSAA, who was believed to be dead after the incident at the Spencer mansion in 2006 - in fact, she was captured by Albert. She was put into cryogenic sleep and kept under observation. Soon, some deviations from the norm were discovered in Jill’s body; a detailed study of them revealed that the T-virus, with which the girl was infected during the events in Raccoon City, did not die completely, but only changed. The antivirus did not destroy the infection, but put it into a state of “sleep”. Having spent a long time in cryogenic sleep, the T-virus in Jill’s body died completely. However, it left behind quite strong antibodies, which made re-infection with the T-virus impossible. Wesker managed to discover this and realized that he could use these antibodies as a softening component in the creation of Ouroboros, reducing the mortality rate among experimental subjects. This allowed Albert to improve the new virus and make it a potential bioweapon.After much research and experimentation, Wesker was able to finally perfect the Ouroboros virus. At that time, Jill’s body contained new strong antibodies after experiments that prevented her from being infected with the virus; now Valentine ceased to be important for the creation of Ouroboros. However, Albert did not kill her, but subjugated her to his will with the help of new unknown technology, and Jill began to follow Wesker's orders. According to reports from Chris Redfield, Valentine did not even recognize her former partner and tried to kill him.

But one way or another, Chris and Sheva Alomar managed to save Jill and uncover Albert’s plans to take over the world, because he wanted to infect the entire population of the globe with Ouroboros. As a result, the infected Albert himself was killed by BSAA agents. However, it is still unknown what happened to the virus samples, whether they were destroyed or fell into the hands of bioterrorists.In its original form, Ouroboros was too dangerous for any host; all those infected died. Only after adding Jill's antibodies could a small percentage of those infected survive the infection (less than 1%).

Once Ouroboros comes into contact with the cells of another organism, it adds its genes to those of the host and tries to merge with it. If the process is successful, the virus strengthens the host, giving him superhuman abilities. However, if the genes show discreteness (immiscibility), then Ouroboros begins to mutate, causing uncontrolled development of infected tissues. As a result, the entire human body becomes infected, which certainly leads to the death of the carrier. Externally, the infected turns into a pile of black tentacles that absorb any organic matter, thereby strengthening itself. The most effective way to destroy such a monster is to burn it out, but if there is no flamethrower at hand, then the only weak point of the mutant is the yellow spots.

Since there were no survivors of Ouroboros infection (except for Albert Wesker), it is unknown what consequences the virus could cause in the future. However, it is known from the data obtained by BSAA scientists that if Ouroboros was used as a bioweapon on the planet, there would be only a few survivors who would survive the infection, while the rest would die. According to Wesker, in this way humanity would enter a new stage of evolution.

And in conclusion, it is worth mentioning the very abilities given by the virus to those who survived the infection. The wearer's physical and mental abilities increase, he gains speed and reaction, becomes less sensitive to damage and even becomes capable of regenerating tissues and cells. Nothing is known about side effects at the moment, since Ouroboros still remains a poorly understood virus.

T-virus Obtained by Dr. James Marcus from the Progenitor virus using leech DNA. The discovery date of the virus seems very confusing to me. On the one hand, we know from Wesker Report No. 2 that by the time Wesker and William were assigned to the Arklay Laboratory (July 1978), the T-virus already existed. The year is not specified. However, if William and Wesker are mentioned in the sense that Marcus trusts them, this is clearly far (several years later) after 1978. Which can’t possibly be the case, since Marcus couldn’t wait 10 years for an “official introduction,” at a time when Edward and Alexander Ashford were already working with him in the late 60s. The T-virus has extremely low selectivity when affecting living organisms. It is capable of affecting plants, fungi, worms, arthropods, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, including humans. However, the impact of the virus has a different effect and depends both on the characteristics of the individual and on external conditions. But at the same time it lends itself well to unification. It is also known that a person infected T-virus, but someone who dies not as a result of the action of the virus, but of the injuries received, also quickly turns into a zombie. A clear example of the rapid transformation into a zombie as a result of a bite is Marvin Braneg, Brad Vickers, Edward Dewey, etc. After death, a person turns into "zombie" - he retains motor functions, but completely loses intelligence. Zombies are driven only by hunger, so they are extremely aggressive and attack living beings in order to eat them. By the way, this fact is little clear to me, because after death metabolic processes are stopped - Why does a corpse need to eat? After all, there is no need to support life - it no longer exists. Zombies are insensitive to pain and have amazing physical endurance. In an amicable way, a zombie can only be finally put to rest by cutting off its head or by burning it (which is observed in the Remake and on Hard in RE2), because the dead person no longer has vital organs, the damage to which would be critical. Spencer's claims, to be honest, seem unfounded to me. Because these 9 zombies will easily tear apart 1 person - and that will be a 100% effect. The main problem of the Tyrant project was that it can only be obtained from a person with the required genotype. Its incidence is approximately one case in 100 million. I’m interested in how William and Wesker figured this out... But oh well, if they could figure this out by some indirect signs, how did they manage to get at least a few suitable people for their tests? And how did they manage to find them? Tyrants are distinguished by enormous physical strength, endurance and an amazing ability to regenerate. You can kill them only by literally blowing them to pieces. But the main difference from the rest of B.O.W. based on a person, is the presence of at least some intelligence and a relative ability to program the actions of the Tyrant.
A unique case is presented by Dr. James Marcus and his leeches. But I’ll break the “chronological” sequence and give it a place at the end of the article.
Does it exist antivirus against T-virus, not known. There are no mentions of him throughout the series. Moreover, it is repeatedly emphasized that there is no cure. Only Outbreaks, as I understand it, have a means to inhibit the action of the virus, but not neutralize it. Moreover, it was made quite recently. On the one hand, this is quite logical. Spencer wanted a virus that could infect everything without any hope of healing. Marcus, William, Wesker and other scientists who finalized the T-virus could well ensure this. That is, either the antivirus does not exist in principle, the disease is not curable, or it was not deliberately developed. Considering how many of Umbrella's personnel have died as a result of accidents due to virus leaks and/or contamination by infected objects, the first option seems logical. After all, why let them die if there is an antivirus? As for the second assumption, it is also not without meaning: ordinary scientists might not have known about the existence of the medicine. Why does this situation seem strange? Yes, because not only do antidotes exist, but technology has even been developed for automated production of a vaccine against “viruses of the highest category” - G and the filth with which Nemesis infected Jill. And these installations are not very secret. But for some reason there is no antidote against the T-virus...

Conclusion. The biggest problem with B.O.W. The “aggressive type” based on the T-virus is low intelligence and lack of control.

What does Ebola have to do with it? The Ebola virus (first discovered in 1976) is mentioned in the Wesker Report #2 as being promising for use as B.O.W. It is also noted that William was going to conduct research on this virus and development based on it. However, there is no further mention of whether this virus played any role in Umbrella's developments or not. Therefore, we can only guess why the developers mentioned Ebola in the Report. Clots appear in the blood, the blood thickens, slows down, and clots begin to accumulate on the walls of blood vessels. There are more and more clots and they become thicker; they begin to clog the capillaries, blocking the access of blood to various parts of the body. Parts of the brain, kidneys, liver, lungs, intestines, genitals, and entire parts of the skin begin to die. With particular fury, Ebola attacks connective tissues, multiplying in collagen - the main protein of the tissues that make our skin, and therefore our body, a single whole. The collagen in the victim's body turns to mush, the subcutaneous tissue of the body dies and begins to decompose. Involuntary cracks begin to cover the skin, from which blood immediately begins to flow. The red spots grow, become huge bruises, the skin becomes soft, plump, any pressure causes the skin to peel off. The heart bleeds into itself, the heart muscles soften, and the blood begins to splash into the chest. Ebola attacks the inner surfaces of the eyeballs, they become filled with blood, and a person can go blind. Blood begins to ooze from the eyes, in such quantities that it runs down the cheeks. Blood does not clot. May suffer a blow to the cerebral hemisphere with partial or complete paralysis. But even while the body is filled with dead, clotted blood, the blood flowing out does not coagulate. If this blood is examined under a microscope, you can see that the blood is dead. Ebola kills huge amounts of tissue while the infected host is still alive. Lifetime necrosis begins, affecting all internal organs. The fact is that the internal organs of the body have been dead for several days, a kind of “dissolution” of the body occurs, instant decomposition.

Discovered by Dr. William Birkin around 89-90 of the twentieth century. The material for creating the virus was the same Lisa Trevor. However, after what turned out to be an incubation period (about 20 years), William was able to isolate a new virus from it. Bringing the development of the virus to completion took about 10 years. We do not know the results of studies of the effects of the G-virus on plants and animals, if they have been conducted. The only known carrier of the virus is its creator himself. The G-virus is more powerful than the T-virus in the sense that it causes much stronger and faster mutations even without external influence, up to the death of the infected person. That's what Wesker Report #2 says, and it seems to be true. However, the point about “mutations even in the absence of external influence” gives me strong doubts. In addition, “the G-Virus has the ability to revitalize cellular functions,” which saved its creator from death. However, at a high price...

Mutations under the influence of the G-virus.
We don't know exactly when William was shot. However, this can be approximately calculated from indirect facts. Firstly, we know that the mutation began immediately after the introduction of the virus, since comrades from the U.S.F.U. Before they had time to escape, William’s paw and eye had already grown. However, on September 28, 1998, we find him the same and has not yet mutated further. How long has it been since the G-virus injection? It should also be noted that even though the G-virus is capable of creating a powerful B.O.W. from a person, it loses its mind and memory and becomes practically uncontrollable. It is subject to final destruction, like the best models of B.O.W. based on the T-virus, only with a powerful explosion.
Virus transmission and antivirus.

The G-virus is transmitted from host to host by the introduction of an embryo. If the infected host's antibodies fail to destroy the embryo, it will begin to gradually destroy the host's cellular structures at the molecular level, rewriting their DNA. At the end of this process, the new host will be able to continue the described reproduction cycle. The duration of the process may vary for different subjects. In the early stages of the lesion, it is possible to reverse the transformation process with the help of an antigen (G-vaccine).

However, without observing the proper conditions for the experiment, the carrier of T-Veronica loses his mind and becomes uncontrollable, like an object exposed to the G-virus. Alexia Ashford modified the virus by using ant genes to create it. She also discovered that the virus must undergo an incubation period in the body of the carrier for 15 years at a low temperature. If this condition is met, a person exposed to Veronica does not lose his mind, memory and controls his actions. However, to reach your potential as a B.O.W., mutation is not necessary. Using the example of Alexia, we see that the first time she mutates not spontaneously, but quite intentionally, at her own request - when she goes out to fight Wesker. However, its subsequent mutation (controlled or spontaneous for the purpose of regeneration is not known) also occurs after causing physical damage to its subject, similar to the situation with William. In my homeland, Japan, Resident Evil called Biohazard(“Biological threat”) and for good reason: the most terrible evil in the games of the series has always been all kinds of viruses, and not zombies or mutants. After the release of the first part in 1996, players saw so many different infections that now you can’t really figure out how this mess with biological weapons and the living dead began.

Young operative Jill Valentine could hardly have guessed what the operation at the Spencer mansion would lead to.

"T-Virus"

For several years, Spencer, Ashford and Marcus pursued one goal - to create a drug from the Progenitor that would take humanity to a new level. But all experiments with flowers from Africa turned out to be a complete failure: the “Progenitor” itself killed almost all those infected - no improvements, only corpses. Then James Marcus combined it with leech DNA and got the “T-virus” - perhaps the most famous infection in the Resident Evil universe.

Compared to the "Progenitor", the "T" virus (or "Tyrant") became a kind of success: it did not kill the carriers, but turned them into mindless, bloodthirsty creatures - those same zombies. As a result, the project to improve the human race was forgotten for a while, because the opportunity to make money from the sale of bioweapons appeared on the horizon. To keep the viral mess a secret, Spencer, Ashford and Marcus founded the pharmaceutical company Umbrella, which became an excellent cover.

In the cramped corridors of the old mansion, each next such meeting could be the last.

By the end of the 1970s, several laboratories were working on the development of the T-virus, including one located under a mansion in the Arklay Mountains, as well as a complex built in Antarctica. In the latter, by the way, Edward Ashford worked together with his son. Their research helped in the future to develop a special type of “T-virus” - “T-Veronica”. This infection was in many ways similar to the Tyrant, but in some cases it retained the mind of the host.

True, in the end, all versions of the “T” virus caused terrible events. Not only did bioweapons end up on the black market, and from there into the hands of terrorists and other villains, but the lion's share of the laboratories working on the virus fell victim to their own achievements.

The first major incident involving the T-Virus occurred in 1998 at the Ozwell Spencer mansion in the Arklay Mountains. The first Resident Evil is dedicated to these events: players, along with the main characters, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, find themselves in a mysterious estate, discover a secret laboratory and learn a terrible secret about the development of a deadly virus.

"G-Virus"

Also in 1998, two months after the events at the Spencer mansion, trouble befell the city of Raccoon, located not far from the estate. Almost the entire population suddenly turned into zombies, and the fate of the survivors at that moment seemed even sadder. It's all to blame for the events that occurred shortly before the disaster in the Umbrella company complex, built right under the city (yes, another complex). And at the very center of these events was the “G-virus”.

Raccoon was never able to survive the zombie epidemic - he was simply destroyed.

But that was not the case: the top of Umbrella found out about this and sent a special squad against Birkin. The warriors did not look for those to blame and, without question, shot one of the company’s most valuable employees. Before his death, Birkin managed to inject himself with the “G-virus” and turned into a formidable monster who easily killed the entire squad. During the massacre, the mutated Birkin touched containers with the T-virus, and it ended up in Raccoon's sewers. As a result, thousands of bloodthirsty zombies are on the streets of the city. The main characters, Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, managed to pacify Birkin.

This is the handsome man Dr. Birkin turned into after he injected himself with the “G-virus.”

On the black market, the “G-virus” was not as popular as the “T” virus, but this infection was also used - it was combined with the “T-Veronica” virus and the “C-virus” was obtained. The latter, if injected, turns its bearers into J'avo, creepy creatures similar to zombies, but at the same time intelligent enough to use weapons and communicate with their own kind. These monsters first appeared in.

Trip to Spain

For the first time, Leon Kennedy, the main character of the fourth part, encounters Las Plagas. He arrives in a Spanish village where, according to rumors, the kidnapped daughter of the American president is being held. Ouroboros virus

Now is the time to return to Africa - where Ozwell Spencer in 1966 found the ill-fated flowers, from which he then developed the “Progenitor” virus. In general, the story of the main infection in the Resident Evil series has circled the globe over the course of several decades and returned to its place of origin - just like the Ouroboros snake biting its own tail. Perhaps this is why Albert Wesker, one of the most dangerous characters in the world of Resident Evil, named his creation after this creature. However, there can be many interpretations of the name.

Resident Evil 5 can be completed by two people, and a partner makes the task much easier.

"Ouroboros" became the third virus created on the basis of the "Progenitor". Albert Wesker, a former employee of the Umbrella corporation, set out to complete Ozwell Spencer's plan - the same one to improve the human race. There was only one problem: Wesker wanted to bring people to a new level of development in an extremely dangerous way - by spraying the Ouroboros virus into the air over all continents. The fact that the lion's share of the population would die was of little concern to the villain.

And the “new level of development” itself seemed wild to normal people: most often, “Ouroboros” turned an unprepared person into a terrible mess of hundreds of worm-like appendages. Nevertheless, Wesker, without any problems, launched the production of the virus in Africa, closer to the very cave where the “staircase to the sun” flowers grow, which have the necessary properties.

Wesker's plans were ruined by Chris Redfield: during the events, he and his partner Sheva Alomar killed Albert, and along the way saved his old acquaintance Jill Valentine.

"Evelina" (spoilers!)

What “Evelina” is and where she came from is not really clear. In Resident Evil 7, the infection appears in the form of a ten-year-old girl - this is how the infected see her, whose mind belongs entirely to Evelina. The rest will see a frail old woman in front of them - the rate of aging in a child is much higher than in an ordinary person.

Whether Evelina can be called a virus is also not known. A girl with the code name E001 is the result of work on a new biological weapon, her creator is an unknown corporation (according to some reports, it may be the Tentsu company). Apparently, "Evelina" is based on some kind of mushrooms: the infected first see hallucinations, and then become covered with black muck, similar to mold. Growing new limbs for such monsters is a common thing.

Nevertheless, all these facts only add more questions. Let's hope that the authors will answer at least some of them in future additions. Well, we will probably learn more about “Evelina” in the next part of the series.

All familiar faces!

It's no secret that in the seventh part the developers moved away from the main events of the series. Nevertheless, there were connections with other games. Here are the most notable references to previous Resident Evil installments.

In the Bakers' house there is a picture of the Arklay Mountains - it was there that the first incident involving the T-virus occurred in 1998.

At some point, the main character of Resident Evil 7 receives an Albert-01 Pistol. Is this a reference to Albert Wesker or just a coincidence?

At the end of the game, the main character is evacuated by a character who introduces himself as Redfield. We're probably talking about Chris, but is this the hero we know?

Even more doubtful about the identity of “Chris Redfield” is left by a helicopter with a modified Umbrella Corporation logo on the body.

As you can see, the main evil in Resident Evil is viruses and people who seek to use these same viruses at any opportunity. Fortunately, most often the villains themselves become victims of their ambitions and turn into monsters. And then, according to established tradition, they die from a shot from a rocket launcher.
