Resetting CMOS memory using hardware

Let me remind you that the BIOS is built on CMOS technology (complementary logic on metal-oxide-semiconductor transistors).

Turn off your computer/laptop. Unplug the power cord. Disconnect the battery (for laptop). Next, we open the system unit / disassemble the laptop, because we need access to the motherboard. We find the battery on the motherboard CR2032, which looks like this:

Next to this battery we find a switch that is labeled Clear CMOS,CL_CMOS , CRTC , CCMOS , CL_RTC etc. The names of the switches may vary. A 2-pin or 3-pin header with a jumper installed in it can also be installed. On laptops, the switch can be installed under the battery itself. This is roughly what they should look like:

General method. Using switches, jumpers or buttons. To reset the BIOS or clear the CMOS memory:
1. Switch the switch for a few seconds, or remove, install, switch the jumper to another position.
2. Press the power button of the system unit. The computer will start working but the screen may remain black.
3. Turn off your computer. Replace the jumper or reset the switch to its original state.
4. Turn on your computer.
5. Login BIOS Setup and check all settings.

If the Clear CMOS switch is missing on the motherboard, or you did not find it, you need to do the following:
1. Remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard.
2. Close the contacts in the battery socket, for example with a screwdriver, to remove residual voltage in the CMOS memory power supply circuit.
4. Return the battery to its place.
5. Turn on your computer.
6. Enter BIOS Setup and check all settings.

A note about Intel motherboards. The methods described above are suitable for most motherboards, with the exception of Intel models. Resetting CMOS memory using software.

This can be done using the Windows debugger. The procedure is as follows:

Start -–> All Programs --–> Accessories --–> Command Prompt (for Windows Vista and Windows 7 right click on snooze Command line and choose Run as administrator). When the window opens, enter debug and press Enter. Further commands depend on the BIOS manufacturer. After entering each line you need to press Enter.

As I understand it, after the reset, important sections of the BIOS will be unlocked and until the “manufacturing...something 3 of 10” countdown is completed, you can make changes (serial number, product number, model name, etc., etc.) through HP System Software Manager sp52095 (I had to download the new version from the developer's website), i.e. via biosconfigutility64.exe/get:cfg.txt – upload the configuration, in it we can make changes (serial number, product number, model name, etc., etc.), and through biosconfigutility64.exe/set:cfg.txt we add it back to the BIOS the changes made and after a reboot everything is applied.
To avoid the inscription “manufacturing...something 3 of 10” when starting, you need to find the line “manufacture programming mode” at the end in the uploaded cfg.txt file and set the asterisk (*) to “lock” and the inscription will no longer appear! BUT you won’t be able to change the data (serial number, product number, model name, etc., etc.) after that! I recommend that you first enter all the missing serial numbers, and then lock the change in the BIOS system parameters!
