How to choose a reliable washing machine. Which brand of washing machine is better and more reliable in everyday life: characteristics and rating of popular models

When the market of household appliance manufacturers has been studied, the question of how to choose an automatic washing machine already lies in determining the characteristics. But what to do if the companies creating washing units are not familiar even by ear? In this case, you need to rely on specialist ratings, customer reviews and company history.

Categories of companies

Today, all washing machines are divided into three categories according to quality and functionality: elite class, medium and budget.

The most expensive class usually includes models from two brands - Miele and AEG. Washing machines from these companies last at least 15 years; moreover, they are completely silent and save on electricity and water consumption. The price of such brands is rather high - 2 thousand dollars for one device.

In the middle class there are more well-known companies: Candy, Bosch, Electrolux, Whirlpool. The main advantages of such washing machines are excellent quality and high efficiency. The ratio of functions to price pleases consumers very much, but silent operation is not always available to such models.

In the budget category there are brands LG, Ardo, Beko, Indesit, Samsung, etc. The quality of washing in such machines is not always ideal, but the low cost makes up for this drawback. Reviews from experts indicate that Ariston is the leader in this class.

Excluded from the classification are domestically produced cars, which are inexpensive, but are very behind in terms of modern technologies. These are Malyutka, Vyatka, Atlant, Oka.

Home of production

In 2016, European brands again come out on top in terms of sales. The leader in household appliances is Germany, where luxury cars are produced. Next comes Sweden, whose models are characterized by increased reliability, and then Italy and France, which produce equipment with an acceptable pricing policy.

Turkish washing machines appear to be of less quality in the eyes of consumers. Even the Korean assembly inspires more confidence, since the models fulfill their warranty period without interruption.

Let's take a closer look at the main brands of washing machines.

  • Miele - assembled only in Germany. All parts for assembling machines pass separate check for quality. The warranty period is 30 years. Distinctive feature such models – no vibration during spinning. Some machines have a “honeycomb drum” function, in which things slide along a certain film of water.
  • Bosch is also a German brand, although the machines themselves are produced in Spain. Most models have an A+ energy consumption class and are virtually silent. Repairing such machines in service centers is easy and convenient.
  • Ariston and Indesit belong to the same manufacturer, Merloni Electromestici. This company has about 500 patents and certifications around the world, selling equipment in 90 countries.
  • ASKO is a Scandinavian brand with excellent demands on product quality. The company pays attention to testing and passing through the control system of each washing machine. An important advantage is the safety of all materials, as well as personal production technology.
  • Siemens - German washing machines with many functions, quiet operation and low energy consumption. A useful new technology is the IQ detergent dosage system. Also, models can remember three on their own installed programs for washing.
  • Whirlpool is an American company with new technology, promoted in 2016. This function is called “Sixth Sense MAX” and involves the machine independently weighing the laundry. The technique also counts the time required for the cycle.
  • Zanussi - equipment with Italian components and wide choice designs. A reasonable price is combined with durability and quality. One of the model ranges - IZ - is equipped with an inclined drum, making it easy to load laundry.

  • Ardos are inexpensive and reliable machines that are particularly good at being easy to operate. There are models with a tank made of enameled rather than stainless steel.
  • Beko and Vestel - washing machines from Turkey with low price and efficiency. They do not differ long term services.
  • LG and Samsung - in automatic mode assembled by South Korean brands. The machines wash well, but they work for over 10 years. Some Samsung models They have a maximum capacity of 10 kg. Silver ions are used in technology to disinfect things.
  • Electrolux - models are produced in Sweden, and at the same time they act as a guarantor of reliability. Such cars are the least likely to need to be taken to service. The most unique devices have voice guidance, and the Evolution series has a large-scale electronic control panel.
  • Gorenje is a Slovenian brand of washing machines with a large window for front loading. Some models are equipped with a shower system that prevents excessive foaming.
  • Candy is a pioneer in many developments. This company began to produce compact machines, develop new washing systems, and even install an oval tank. The brand is a leader in energy and water conservation. The latest model line - Activa - requires only 55 liters of water to cleanse fabrics.

Please note that many brands in Europe and Asia are starting to assemble washing machines in Russia. This significantly reduces the cost of equipment, but reduces its quality. Thus, Zanussi models are assembled in St. Petersburg, Indesit and Ariston are assembled in Lipetsk. Candy production is partially developed in Kirov, and Vestel and Whirlpool are created in Aleksandrov.

Company reliability rating

Experts annually try to study the number of calls to service centers for the repair of washing machines. A reliability rating is compiled based on the volume of breakdowns and the ease of their elimination.

In the first place in it is the Miele company, since German quality is ensured by careful elaboration of details by engineers. The machines of this company do not go out of service for the first 15 years at all. Purchase refusals occur either due to the complexity of the electronics or due to improper use or care of the equipment. Some compilers of reliability ratings do not include Miele models, since they are located far beyond the premium class bar, so only a few purchase them on the Russian market.

The leading position, excluding luxury cars, is occupied by Bosch, since this equipment has only 5% of failures in the first years of operation. By the way, some models are assembled not in the homeland of this brand, in Germany, but in Poland. However, consumer reviews indicate that this fact does not affect reliability. Siemens machines, which share the top of the rating, have the same high performance. The Electrolux brand lags behind by half a percentage point, and the share of repairs for Zanussi equipment, which received 3rd place, is 7.1%.

Next in the ranking are Samsung and LG models, which, although made in Korea, break down in 9% of cases. By the way, LG especially attracts buyers with direct drive and high-quality motor. Up to 3% of repairs are made by Italian brands that produce equipment in Russia. These are Ariston, Indesit, Ardo. Usually, the first breakdowns of such machines appear after 4 years from the moment of first use, but if you are lucky, the equipment will work for 8-10 years.

According to experts, the quality of the Candy model line has recently deteriorated. The first models were much stronger and better, but now finding replacement parts in local service centers is becoming difficult. At the bottom of the rating are also machines from Veko, which attract with their low price, but are not designed for trouble-free operation. The equipment from Brandt works well, but even here the early releases seemed more reliable.

The companies Gorenje, Hansa, AEG, Eurosoba and others do not fall into the reliability study segment, since they are practically not represented on the local market even in 2016, which means it is very difficult to compile accurate statistics. But, as reviews show, only individual parts in such washing machines are subject to wear, while in general the equipment works flawlessly for many years in a row.

Quality Rating

It is much more difficult to compile TOP ratings for the quality of washing machines than for reliability. There is less objectivity here, because the degree of pollution, water hardness and the detergents themselves vary from housewife to housewife. Some buyers often choose the wrong program and wash cycle, and then complain about poor performance of the equipment.

So, compiled on the basis public opinion, the quality rating states that best wash possible in machines of the brands Bosch, Ariston, Indesit, LG. Let's look at specific models that are most often mentioned by consumers.

  • Bosch WLX-20463 has optimal volume loaded laundry – 5 kg. It is distinguished by excellent quality, which does not raise doubts in any wash.
  • Indesit IWUC-4105 loads only 4 kg. This is not only not very expensive, but also an unusually stable model, which has brought it popularity.
  • Ariston ARUSL-105 allows front loading of 4 kg. In addition to excellent quality important characteristic– presence of a quiet washing mode.
  • LG F-1068LD washes as much as 5-6 kg of laundry. The model has stylish design and is equipped with protection against small children.
  • Samsung WF-8590-NMW8 is inexpensive and is characterized not only by excellent quality, but also by increased reliability.
  • The Candy Aquamatic 100-F processes only 3.5 kg of fabric at a time. However, the quality parameters of the model are excellent.
  • Zanussi ZWY-1100 allows you to wash 5 kg, while having a vertical loading type. One of the advantages is maximum ease of operation.

Rating by selection of parameters

It's interesting that considering technical characteristics of all washing machines, the rating is built in a different way. Thus, it is believed that the Electrolux EWW-1686-HDW model is best suited for large families. This machine tops the TOP thanks to its 8 kg load capacity and fast drying. It goes without saying that the category of spin and energy consumption in such equipment is A. The affordable price against the backdrop of a variety of programs and elegant design has been attracting Russian housewives for a very long time.

Second place in the ranking best parameters occupied by LG F-14A8TD5. This is a fairly large model that helps wash large volumes of fabrics. A special distinction is the A++ class in terms of energy consumption. The machine is protected against leaks, foaming, children and imbalance in the drum.

In 2016, the closing leader will also be popular - Bosch WLG-24060. This is a great budget model that is easy to drive. The machine washes 5 kg of laundry and has the highest spin class.

The Siemens WS-10G160 machine is in 4th place in the rating in terms of parameters. Nice design and reasonable price are complemented by dimensions suitable for any apartment. This model can wash up to 5 kg of laundry, and among the modes there is also an express wash in 15 minutes. An undeniable advantage is protection against power surges in the network.

The top five is eclipsed by the AEG 87695-WD. This model is equipped with a dryer and is perfect for serving a large family, as it processes 9 kg of items at the same time. Highest category Manufacturers skillfully combine spin, wash and energy with 14 programs and protection against leaks, imbalance, and children. A significant disadvantage of the brand is the huge price.

Rating by cost

Of course, you cannot choose a washing machine without first indicating the range of the amount you are willing to say goodbye to upon purchase. Russian market household appliances considers the price of any model - important parameter influencing consumer opinion.

In first place is the inexpensive automated machine Hansa AWB-508LR. The model processes up to 5 kg of clothing, and has a standard 800 rpm when washing. The machine has as many as 23 programs for working with different fabrics. The leader is adjacent to a similar model - Hansa AWM-508LR, the characteristics of which are identical, and only the price is slightly higher due to the A+ class in energy saving.

The next two places were taken by Indesit machines - WISN-82 and WISN-100. Pricing its equipment up to 10 thousand rubles, the manufacturer offers a volume of 4-5 kg of loaded laundry and 800-1000 rpm when washing.

The rating is completed by the machine that has been the most popular among Russian housewives for many years, Indesit IWSB-6085 (CIS). Perhaps the main drawback here is the low spin class - D. Otherwise, the speed, load size, and energy saving class are not satisfactory.

Rating of vertical machines

In front-loading models, the leaders have not changed for many years. Bosch pleases with reliability, Indesit delights with simplicity, and LG takes the position due to its cost and direct drive.

However, in machines with side or vertical loading of laundry, it is better to focus on other manufacturers. Housewives can still find suitable models from Bosch, but in terms of price and variety, the brands Electrolux and Zanussi are not far behind. But LG doesn't make it large quantity such washing machines.

Buyers' opinion

If you study sites and forums where consumers can leave reviews about purchased household appliances, you can get the most complete picture of the popularity of washing machines in 2016. For example, it becomes clear that models with complete drying of laundry or pre-ironing are more often not fully exploited. At the same time, a washing machine with the ability to work with children's clothing helps young mothers save money.

In the ranking of consumer reviews, the Bosch WLG-20160 machine comes first. A capacious 5 kg drum is combined in this model with external beauty, quiet operation and very simple installation. But this is not the most budget-friendly equipment, and the cheaper option - Indesit WIUN-81 - is almost catching up with the leader. The machine attracts with its quick wash mode in 30 minutes, but in some automatic programs it needs to be restarted to start rinsing. In addition, the model operates quite loudly.

The already mentioned model Indesit WISN-82 is highly appreciated by customers due to its small size and good spin. However, the machine is very mobile when squeezing things out, is quite noisy during each cycle and does not have a sound alert.

The LG F-1089ND washing machine works much better and quieter. It loads 6 kg of clothes and allows you to set the water temperature and drum speed yourself. But the model has a very strange child protection system, since it does not apply to the power button itself.

In the middle are the Bosch WLG-20061 and LG F-80C3LD models. They are very quiet, spin and wash well, but have a number of significant shortcomings. So, in the first case, the machine moves during the spin cycle and does not have a display indicating the exact washing time. The second model has a short hose for water supply and an equally short cord for electrical outlets.

Washing Samsung machine The WF-8590-NMW9 is inexpensive and silent. Being small in size, it can wash up to 6 kg of laundry, and its porthole is quite large. However, the security system does not work with the Pause and Power buttons.

Three Bosch models complete the rating according to consumer opinions. WLG-24060 is the most inexpensive of them, but it washes only 4.5 kg of laundry, and the spin level cannot be adjusted. WLG-24260 perfectly protects against leaks, power outages and unreasonable excess water consumption. But the model whistles loudly and frighteningly during the spin cycle. Finally, the WIS-28440 processes 7 kg of clothes at once and allows you to monitor the wash using a special indicator. Despite the variety of programs, the controls in this machine are very clear. True, this model is mainly suitable for integration into kitchen units. Many are also scared off by its decent price - at least 50 thousand rubles.

The most important data about the washing machine is displayed on a special energy sticker, mandatory for Europe, which reflects three classes of the machine: efficiency class, washing class and spin class. Classes evaluate the effectiveness of processes, assigning each a Latin letter from G (worst indicator) to A (best indicator). The assessment is carried out in a special independent laboratory.

VERTICAL OR HORIZONTAL

Front-loading machines are convenient to place under the countertop (and just the lid can be used), and can be placed in a column with a drying unit. It is important that there are simply more cars of this type on sale, so it is easier to choose the best option for yourself. As for the sizes of front cameras, machines with a height of 85 cm, with a width and depth of 60 cm are considered standard or full-size.

More compact machines, as a rule, have a reduced depth: slightly less than the standard 50-55 cm, narrow 39-49 cm, super-narrow 33-37 cm. But both the width and height can be reduced, however, such options are less common, for example, machines Candy Aquamatic with dimensions 51x44x70 cm (WxDxH) or Zanussi FCS 825 C with dimensions 51x51x67 cm. In addition, there are offers with increased dimensions, designed for country houses with large laundry rooms. The width of the machine can be about 80 cm, depth 70-80, height 90-97 cm.

Machines with vertical loading are chosen when there is a lack of space, they are more compact - with a width of 40 or 45 cm, a depth of 60 cm, a height of 85 or 90 cm. Since access to the machine is from above, you can install the device not only with the short side to the wall, but also with the long side, thereby choosing the optimal position in the bathroom (verticals are usually not installed in the kitchen). Minus verticals - more limited quantity proposals, in addition, paired drying units of a similar design are not being developed for them.

LOADING

Until recently, it was the most important selection criterion, but just a few years ago the load on machines began to grow, and now most of them are designed for an amount of laundry that not every family can collect in a week. Let's make a reservation that the load is the amount of laundry (by weight) that is washed in the main cotton washing program. In other programs, this amount is always less (as specified in the instructions), for example, with a load of 6 kg, 3 kg are washed in a short wash, in a synthetics program - 2.5 kg, in a silk wash - 2 kg, and wool - 1.5 kg .

Full-size machines wash 7-8, less often 6, kg of laundry in one cycle; there are devices with a load of 9 and even 12 kg. Models of increased dimensions are designed for 9 - 11 kg of items. Among compact machines, the spread is quite wide. In the super-narrow group there are offers for 3.5 - 4 kg, but there are also models capable of washing up to 5 kg.

Among the narrow ones, the most common are 5 - 6 kg, but there are machines for 7 kg (for example, Zanussi ZWH 2121). Machines with a reduced depth of 50-55 cm wash 5.5, 6-7, and 8 kg (for example, LG F-1273TD), which does not distinguish them much from full-size ones. As you can see, small families may want to consider purchasing a compact machine with a load capacity more suited to their needs.

Top-loading machines are designed for 6-7 kg of laundry. (We wrote in more detail about verticals in the last issue of BT.)

ECONOMY CLASS

The efficiency class shows how economically the machine can consume electricity and water. To evaluate, we take the so-called standard cycle (the main, that is, the longest cotton washing program, 60 ° C), determine the volume of water for it and the number of kilowatts. Both indicators are also shown on a sticker.

It should be noted that competitions among manufacturers are now taking place outside the scale established by the EU, since even the simplest devices have the highest class A (even class B is already rare), and advanced developments have been able to make cars more economical. Therefore, new designations appeared: A+ (the machine is 10% more economical than a class A device), A++ (20-30%), A+++ (50%). It is these signs that you should pay attention to.

OPTIMIZATION SYSTEM

Any modern automatic machine works thanks to an optimization system; the system can be called FuzzyLogic or have brand names (EcoNavi Panasonic, UseLogic Gorenje, EasyLogic Ardo, EcoLogic Vestel, “Sixth Sense” Whirlpool). Nowadays a somewhat primitive term is increasingly used - auto-weighing. The optimization system provides flexibility for each load of laundry, and thanks to it we can avoid using scales when throwing laundry into the machine.

The system independently estimates the number of items, but their weight does not matter to it - the type of fabric, or more precisely, the amount of water that this fabric can absorb, is much more important. The machine pours water gradually, estimating the amount of free water that is not absorbed by things. This amount must exactly match the amount entered into the algorithm of each program.

In this way, it is possible to dose the water consumption without exceeding it, and, based on this, the machine can determine (more precisely, adjust from the main setting) how long the washing stage will last (taking into account the type of program, the inclusion of options, for example, enhanced washing). This is how resource savings are achieved.

WASHING CLASS

This is the second indicator of the sticker. Washing class is a qualitative characteristic obtained as a result of testing the machine in an independent laboratory. The machine is tested with a standard program at maximum load. In the laboratory, a test patch of white cotton is made, onto which other patches with standard stains applied are attached; a special, of course, standard powder is used for washing.

Next, after drying, the color of the spots is assessed in accordance with a certain scale. The vast majority of modern cars have highest class washing A. In other words, class has ceased to be an evaluation category and, by and large, does not mean so much. And, above all, because the evaluation is carried out only according to one program - the most intensive, longest, and at the same time the washing is done in hot water. And you will also use other programs, including short ones, and the water temperature often cannot exceed 40 ° C (the requirement for most modern wearables). And how these programs are thought out is simply impossible to know in advance.

WASHING WOOL

That is why it is worth treating with interest the current trend of recent years - voluntary certification. It concerns only one program - washing wool. But this program is one of the most complex, and it is impossible to evaluate its features without using the machine.

Voluntary certification is carried out by the European Woolmark Institute. The certification confirms not so much the effectiveness of the program (wool, unlike cotton, washes easier and faster), but careful attitude for woolen items. The Woolmark mark is the most important positive factor for owners of knitwear made from natural threads.

WASH WITH IDEAS

The quality of washing is improved by various developments by companies. Their task is to increase the penetration of the detergent composition (water + powder) through fabrics, to help it act on fibers and dissolve contaminants. The most common option is to supply the detergent composition from above; for this purpose, grabs in the form of scoops, shower systems that supply liquid under pressure, and bubbles are offered. These easy-to-understand tools really make your laundry more efficient.

The second option is strengthening mechanical impact. This is done again with the help of grips (for example, in the form of figure eights or with different sides - flatter and sloping), protrusions (for example, in the form of drops from Bosch, Siemens). The inclined drum works in the same vein - it promotes shoveling of laundry and better washing.

Schulthess machines use an optimization system that evaluates the degree of contamination (liquid exposed to light) and, based on it, lengthens or shortens the wash.

SPIN CLASS

More informative. It depends on the amount of moisture in the laundry (cotton) after spinning at maximum speed (again, standard washing is no exception here). Directly related to several factors at once: spin speed (but not necessarily linear), spin optimization and technical features of the machine.

The most common spin classes are C and B. Class A is typical for premium machines with high spin speeds.

Despite the fact that the spin class says a lot about the process, only those who plan to use a dryer after washing should take it into account when choosing. For laundry hung on a line, 15-20 or 30 minutes until it dries completely is often not of fundamental importance, but for an appliance it is important, since the difference in percentage results in an increase in energy costs.

SPIN SPEED

Based on this, customers can feel more relaxed about the new trend of increasing the spin speed. Until recently, the highest speeds were 1400 and 1600 rpm. Now this milestone has already been crossed; cars capable of reaching speeds of 1800 and 2000 rpm have appeared on sale. From a practical point of view, for the buyer, choosing such cars is not entirely advisable (unless this item comes 5th or 10th after other advantages of the car).

The fact is that after a speed of 1400 rpm and higher, the amount of moisture in the laundry does not decrease so noticeably, which is not fundamental even for a drying unit, not to mention the housewife. In other words, overpay for data technical features irrational.

In addition, it is worth remembering that the maximum spin speed is available only in cotton washing programs; in all others, it is lower by default. The most gentle spin is used in care programs for delicate fabrics, wool and silk, as well as in modes with anti-crease settings.

SPIN OPTIMIZATION

A mandatory attribute of any machine is an imbalance control system. During the spin process, this system evaluates how evenly things are distributed throughout the drum. If this does not happen, she tries to change the position of the linen by shaking and pausing. As a result, the actual rotation speed of the drum may be lower than the one turned on, since the automation selects the highest safe spin speed (of course, not higher than the one selected by the user or the default one).

PROGRAMS

The set of washing machine programs always contains a kind of gentleman’s set:

Light cotton washing program with selectable water temperature up to 90 °C.

Washing program for colored cotton laundry, temperature up to 60 °C.

Synthetic care program, temperature up to 60 °C.

Delicate fabrics, silk, hand wash (together or separately), cold water - 40 ° C.

Wool - 40 °C.

The machine definitely has the ability to increase the intensity of the main programs for cotton (light and colored). Either special programs or options (push-button activation) may be offered. For items soiled with soil or sand, a pre-wash is suggested. It is a very short analogue of the full one. Once the prewash is complete, the machine switches to the main program automatically.

Instead of or together with pre-washing, soaking is increasingly being offered - a cycle that helps remove stubborn stains and old dirt. Russian housewives like soaking more than pre-washing.

One of today's trends is stain removal modes, often designed for a specific type of stain, they really help deal with stains, but most machines using modern chemistry are able to do this in the main cycle.

It is now considered good practice to have a program (or a mode within a program) that helps save money; it involves setting a lower temperature, and the required level of washing is achieved by lengthening the washing phase.

Short programs are a mandatory attribute of a modern machine. They are designed for lightly worn items (mostly worn only once) that are not heavily soiled or stained. Programs last from 15 minutes. Designed to quickly return clothes to wear.

They often offer a program that has average characteristics and allows you to wash cotton and synthetic items together (this is a response to growing loads that take a long time to accumulate). It can be called “mix”, “mixed”.

In addition, manufacturers often create special programs, some of which are necessary for every family: washing children's clothes (intensive program, intensive rinsing), washing shirts (increased water level to make ironing easier or without it), washing down jackets (as well as pillows and blankets, gentle , but effective washing and spinning), jeans, sports items (for microfiber clothing), shoes (only sports sneakers and sneakers).

Much attention is now being paid to people with sensitive skin; regimes are specially created for them to help wash away allergens and disinfect tissues. The programs are suitable for infants and elderly people, allergy sufferers. Most machines allow for at least one additional rinse cycle to ensure that the powder is rinsed out more reliably. Asko can have up to 7 such cycles.

The noise level of modern cars has become lower. But still, the splashing of water and the rumbling of the motor during the spin cycle can interfere with sleep. Therefore, programs are being made that allow you to do laundry at night, but not wake up your household. They can have the spin mode turned off; this stage is turned on by the housewife when it is convenient for her.

CONTROL

All modern cars are controlled by electronic units. Only the panels differ: with simpler mechanical elements or selectors and touch buttons(real buttons always remain recessed when turned on), indicators and displays. Control panels are always quite informative, regardless of the presence or absence of a display. But machines equipped with a text display may have a self-diagnosis function, which helps to quickly detect and, most importantly, identify a malfunction, which is very convenient. Electronic panels are equipped with a child lock feature.

Timers are being installed on cars more and more often; their task is also to help us save. With their help, we can reschedule washing not only to the most convenient time, but also choose a night for it when energy tariffs are lower.

OPTIONS

Serve to correct ready-made program settings. You can always change the temperature and spin speed settings, in addition to them you can intensify (“intensive” option) or shorten (“accelerated”) the process. As already mentioned, add rinse. Disable spin (for delicate items).

In addition, the option of easy ironing has become almost mandatory. It increases the amount of water during the spin cycle and optimizes the spin cycle so that the clothes have as few wrinkles as possible (ideally, the laundry turns out light, as if fluffed up, if you dry it properly, you don’t have to iron democratic items at all).

FOAM CONTROL

Serves to protect the electronic unit of the machine from possible foam. It is also important for those with sensitive skin, as it helps completely wash out the powder when rinsing. Monitors the foam level, if it is exceeded, drains some of the water and adds a new portion.

PROTECTION AGAINST LEAKS

A distinction is made between complete and partial. Partial protection is the most common and comes in two types:

The case protection, which prevents water leakage from the machine itself, uses a sealed pan; electronic sensors react to moisture or floats; when the internal water level rises, they block its flow.

Hose protection, a less popular option. Her area of interest is damage to the hose, which in the event of a leak cuts off the flow of water.

Partial protection makes the car more vulnerable. In expensive cars (average price segment and above) use complete protection, which includes both components. Companies that offer a lifetime warranty against leaks on their machines may be of interest to the buyer.

DESIGN

Among the innovations that have become popular are inverter control and a brushless motor. Another innovation is steam. The studies carried out gave different results: in Korean companies steam helps to wash, in European companies it is used exclusively for straightening clothes (making ironing easier). In addition, there are a number of technologies that simplify the dissolution of the powder. Several companies offer automatic systems washing gel dosages that take the required amount of product, using it sparingly.

For machines with vertical loading, a system of smooth opening of the doors and automatic parking is always created (the drum stops only with the doors up).

TANK AND DRUM

Washing in a machine is done in a drum (it rotates), the drum is placed in a tank, which is fixed motionless. The drum is always made of stainless steel; there are no other options, since this element must withstand quite heavy loads. Drum perforation and its surface are one of the common areas. Whatever solutions companies offer! The easiest way to check whether a drum is well made is to run a lady's stocking over it from the inside - the stocking should not be damaged.

Drums (and, accordingly, tanks) have now increased, as evidenced by the increase in machine loads. The loading hatches have also become larger. The trend to make them more accessible (higher, with a larger opening angle) is fully welcomed by buyers. It's really more convenient, and the car looks more impressive. Surely housewives will appreciate the ability to add laundry to the machine directly during the wash cycle. Previously, this required draining the water. Now the water level has become low, plus the size of the drum has changed, as a result the water remains untouched, the machine simply removes the blockage for a while.

The tank, on the contrary, can be made from several types of materials; the choice in their favor depends on the intended service life of the equipment. The most reliable, almost eternal, but at the same time expensive tanks are made of stainless steel. Tanks made of polymers (including those with a steel back wall) are now more popular. Polymers are lighter, cheaper, they are quite reliable and hold heat better than steel (the water in the machine only heats up at the beginning of the wash; no thermostats are used here, with very rare exceptions). The simplest are enameled tanks, their disadvantage is their tendency to corrosion.

Thus, the choice must be made by evaluating the devices included in the one that is suitable for you. price category, separating the mandatory ones modern level and new, practical functions and innovations.

Have you finally decided to buy an automatic washing machine or has your old assistant finally broken down? The range of these household appliances every year it is systematically replenished with new devices, and accordingly, the selection and purchase procedure becomes more complicated. It is very important to choose a really high-quality model that will be the best in terms of washing quality, otherwise you can end up with a lot of problems, such as frequent equipment repairs or poor washing results. But now we will figure out how to choose an automatic washing machine based on price and quality ratio in 2017, taking into account the most important criteria of the device. The advice of our experts will help you not to make a mistake with the right choice of the best model that will last for many years.

Washing machine loading types

As everyone already knows, there are two main types of loading laundry: vertical and frontal, each with its own advantages and disadvantages. Many users prefer front-loading washing machines because they look very stylish and are equipped with more functionality. The vertical type is more suitable for small bathrooms where every centimeter counts, things are placed in it through the top hole, and it is also possible to load laundry during washing. Now, of course, the most famous manufacturers have begun to produce front-loading models with an additional door that allows you to add laundry during washing; the disadvantage of these washing machines is their high cost.

Vertical

By choosing a top-loading washing machine for a small bathroom, you significantly save space - such models are usually smaller in width. Forgot to put something in the tank? Send her there any time. The only negative is that the top surface cannot be used as a shelf. Buy such a device for a small room.

Advantages:

  • have small dimensions
  • if you forgot about one more thing that needs to be washed, now this is not a problem, at any stage of washing you can add laundry

Flaws:

  • not a large range of models
  • relatively high cost

Frontal

Front-load washing machines are usually much larger. However, they can be hidden inside a furniture set, loaded with 10 kg (vertical cabinets do not have such capacity), and the upper surface is always free. Give preference to this type of loading if you have it free space, plan to wash a lot of clothes or want to install a machine in the kitchen.

Advantages:

  • visual control of the washing progress
  • large range of models
  • wide price range
  • Possibility of embedding into furniture
  • can be used as a shelf

Flaws:

  • you have to bend over to load laundry
  • relatively large size
  • required extra space to open the door

Dimensions

If you are the happy owner of a bathroom or kitchen with large area, then the size of the washing machine is not so important. It's another matter when every centimeter matters. Depending on the type of loading, the equipment has the following standard height and width parameters:

  • frontal – 85 cm and 60 cm
  • vertical – 90 cm and 40 cm

Also, before purchasing, measure the depth of the washing machine that will suit you. According to this characteristic, there are the following types of device sizes:

  • deep – from 55 cm
  • standard – 45-55 cm
  • narrow – 35-44 cm
  • very narrow – up to 35 cm

For a small room, choose narrow or very narrow models (they have a capacity of 3.5-4 kg of clothes), for washing a small amount of laundry, a device with a standard depth is suitable, and if you have a large family, the ideal option is a deep model with heavy weight downloads.

Installation

If you want to choose a good quality automatic washing machine, be sure to check what type of installation it belongs to; there can be only 3 of them:

  • built-in
  • partially built-in
  • free-standing

Built-in

Built-in appliances are intended for installation inside furniture, under a sink or countertop. This type of washing machine simply disappears behind the door. The range of devices is not as large as compared to stand-alone ones, and they are more expensive. But at the same time, they do not disturb the interior of the premises.

Tip: Choose built-in appliances if you want to save space, maintain a holistic design of the room and save yourself from loud noise and vibrations.

Partially recessed

This type of washing machine is considered a type of built-in device. The difference is that the front part is not covered by a door, but is always visible. However, such a device can always be installed separately from the headset, thanks to its universal dimensions and the top cover, which can be easily removed and installed back.

Freestanding

This version of washing machines is considered classic. Among its advantages it is necessary to highlight huge selection by design, the ability to purchase a device with vertical loading and the required parameters. But most often these models differ high level noise. They are also characterized by larger sizes, greater capacity and an expanded range of programs.

Capacity

This setting affects the amount of clothing you can wash in one wash cycle. It is necessary to focus on the size of the family:

  1. A device with a capacity of 3-4 kg is enough for two or three people.
  2. For 4 people, a device designed for 5-6 kg is required
  3. To ensure that 5 or more people always have clean clothes, give preference to equipment with a load of 8-10 kg

When buying a washing machine with a small load weight, it is worth considering that you will not be able to wash bulky items such as blankets, large jackets.

Tank material

When choosing an inexpensive but good washing machine in 2017 based on user reviews, you should know the characteristics of the tank material - it can be made of plastic or stainless steel. Plastic is characterized by good noise insulation, long service life and chemical inertness (the material does not come into contact with chemicals). Stainless steel is characterized by even longer service life, measured in tens of years, reliability, strength, and corrosion resistance, but it is characterized by a high noise level.

Control type

Depending on the type of control, there are three types of equipment:

  • mechanical
  • electronic
  • sensory

Mechanical

The mechanical type is installed in inexpensive washing machines and involves manual setting all parameters using buttons, rotary switches. The washing cycle is divided into stages, each with a specific time allocated. The control panel is equipped with special markings (labels or mini-drawings) so that you can quickly navigate through the parameters.

Electronic and touch

In washing machines with electronic and touch control There is a built-in programmer. Its purpose is to adjust all settings depending on the specified conditions. You just need to specify the washing intensity and type of fabric, after which the system will select the appropriate temperature, spin, time and amount of water. Often, such equipment is equipped with a display that displays important information (for example, time until the end of the cycle, spin speed, etc.), as well as codes for problems that arise due to a problem with the washing machine.

The difference between touch and electronic controls is the touch display, with which you can control the equipment and the cost; touch screens are more expensive.

Advice: If you don’t know which washing machine is better to choose in terms of price and quality, buy a device with electronic or touch control; they are equipped with wider functionality and the ability to detect faults. The price of the device will be higher and the quality of washing will be better!

Optimal number of programs

The largest number of programs there can be is 31. The difference between them lies in the intensity of the drum rotation, cycle duration, number of rinses, etc. It is worth noting that the more programs, the better, because you can choose it as correctly as possible for a certain type of laundry. But too many of them affect the cost of the device, and in terms of the quality of washing, such equipment does not differ from conventional ones, therefore, when choosing a high-quality washing machine based on the price-quality ratio in 2017, pay attention to the availability of the most necessary modes, which are present in almost all devices:

  • express
  • for cotton linen
  • for colored laundry
  • delicate

There are also models of washing machines in which the user can independently set the required number of programs, which provides expanded capabilities.

Tip: If you can’t decide which brand of washing machine is best to buy, use the advice of experts: check the availability of the most important programs in the functionality of the device, and choose the rest at your own discretion.

Choosing a washing machine with or without dryer

Washing machines with dryers are more expensive than other models, but you can’t do without this feature if you don’t have the space or time to dry your laundry normally. During the drying process, the rotation speed of the drum changes regularly and the items are exposed to air. The number of drying modes can vary from 1 to 11, including an express program. It is worth noting one drawback of the mode - faster wear of linen and increased energy consumption.

Spin

Spinning occurs at a certain speed - the higher it is, the less moisture will remain in the fabric and, accordingly, the less time it will take to dry. Speed is the number of revolutions the drum makes per minute. At the same time, high speed It is not suitable for all fabrics, because, for example, at 1000 rpm or higher, delicate products can immediately lose their shape and appearance. Therefore, it is very important that the automatic washing machine has a function for selecting the spin intensity. Usually it is found in models for which the highest speed is 800 rpm and above. There are 7 classes that indicate its effectiveness:

  • A – high
  • B – very good
  • C – medium
  • D, E, F, G – low

Energy class

To choose the right automatic washing machine for your home or cottage, it is very important to carefully consider electricity consumption. It directly determines whether you can operate the equipment economically. To find out the class of a particular model, just look at its marking - a certain letter should be indicated there:

  • A (+, ++, +++) – very economical
  • B, C – economical
  • D – average
  • E, F – high consumption
  • G – very high power consumption

If among two devices with identical parameters one is more economical, then its cost will be higher. It is also worth considering that drying increases energy consumption. We recommend choosing class A or A++ models.

Washing class

The washing class plays a very important role for every housewife, and it is impossible to choose a reliable washing machine based on price and quality without taking this parameter into account. There are only 7 of them and they are marked with exactly the same letters as spin. The class determines how well the equipment copes with removing dirt. Devices A and B are characterized by the greatest efficiency, F and G by the least.

Tip: Don't skimp on the wash class. Devices A and B are more expensive, but these costs will soon pay off: the clothes will retain their original appearance longer, and the equipment will delight you with long-term use.

Functionality

As a separate item, we would like to draw your attention to the Innex line of washing machines from the manufacturer Indesit. The the lineup was designed specifically to make household appliances the most functional and the easiest to use. What is special about these models? The motto of this series is “2 seconds, 1 button, 0 problems”, which fully reflects the essence of the turbo program Push&Wash- the ability to start a 45-minute wash at 30 degrees at 800 rpm by pressing one button, even if the machine was turned off at that moment. This saves not only time and effort, but also material resources - water and electricity. Washing machines of the Innex series have the highest energy consumption class A+++(30% savings!). And modern sensor technology for water balance allows you to regulate the water flow during each wash depending on the load of the drum.

What type of washing machine drive should I choose?

Another parameter that will help you choose the best washing machine is the type of drive; it plays a very important role:

  • straight
  • with belt drive

A belt drive consists of fixing a drum on a belt, which transmits torque from the shaft. Washing machines with a belt drive are characterized by a high level of noise and vibration, which is sometimes very annoying; the main advantage is considered to be a large assortment of models, and the low price for repairing the drive parts of the device.

Direct drive involves a direct connection between the drum and the motor, giving a larger load volume with smaller dimensions. Direct drive models have low noise levels and create virtually no vibrations, allowing them to be used even at night. It is safe to say that these devices have best quality and abbreviated to the washing procedure. There is also a drawback - the price.

Look interesting video about comparing the operation of direct drive and belt drive, the difference is noticeable immediately!

Important points

When choosing a washing machine according to its parameters, you should also take into account features that are not provided in all models:

  1. Leak protection - ensures that water will not flow out of the device in the event of a malfunction. Can be full or partial (applies only to the body or hoses)
  2. Child lock – If there are children in the house, you can lock the device controls for safety. The function is activated and deactivated by pressing a specific combination of buttons
  3. Protection against power surges - during power surges, the washing machine turns off thanks to sensor signals. This extends its service life
  4. Imbalance control is a useful feature whereby the system detects that things inside the tank are tangled and tries to distribute them evenly. If this fails, the spin cycle occurs at low speed or is turned off.

Noise level

The noise produced by a washing machine can be divided into two types:

  • during washing
  • during the spin cycle

The main process is usually less noisy than spinning, ranging from 41-74 dB. For spinning, the noise is 56-88 dB and depends on the materials from which the device is made. As a rule, the more expensive the equipment, the quieter it works.

Tip: if noise level is important to you, choose a model with no more than 65-75 dB during spinning and 55 dB during washing.

What to do to make your washing machine last longer

Even this requires careful care and compliance with certain operating rules:

  1. Avoid excessive vibrations of the device during operation (associated with improper installation)
  2. Don't pawn too few or too many items
  3. Do not wash heavy and light items at the same time
  4. Zip and turn items inside out before loading into the tank, and check pockets
  5. Don't continue washing if you hear extraneous sounds in the drum (a blockage has formed)
  6. Set the modes correctly, in particular the temperature. It is advisable that it not be higher than 60-70 degrees, as this contributes to the appearance of scale
  7. Rinse the detergent container regularly
  8. Clean the drain pump filters according to the instructions.
  9. Clean parts from scale using chemical or household products.

Which brand to choose a washing machine

Which washing machine brand is best to choose depends on the requirements for reliability, efficiency of the device, quality and, of course, your financial capabilities. However, it is better to spend a little more money on the purchase than to regularly pay considerable sums for the repair of low-quality equipment.

The best washing machine manufacturers of 2017:

  • Bosch
  • Hotpoint-Ariston
  • Ariston
  • Samsung
  • Siemens
  • Zanussi
  • Miele
  • Electrolux
  • Indesit

Conclusion

Thanks to the advice of experts and our specialists, you now know how to choose an automatic washing machine in 2017, the main and secondary features, and the rating of popular companies will help you significantly narrow down your search for the most reliable and high-quality device. After familiarizing yourself with the most necessary parameters, you can easily decide which washing machine is best to buy for long and reliable operation. Let the acquired equipment serve you for decades, making your routine housework easier!

When choosing a washing machine, we expect that it will serve faithfully for many years. But how to find suitable model? What type of loading should I choose - vertical or frontal? What is Fuzzy Logic? Which models will save water and electricity? Let's figure it out together!

Laundry load volume

When purchasing a washing machine, it is very important to consider the optimal load capacity. For one person or a young couple, 3-4 kg will be enough, but for a family with a child or two children, you already need a car with a loading volume of 4.5 - 5 kg. Models with a loading volume of 6-8 kg are suitable for a large family.

Washing powder, water and electricity are used most efficiently when fully loaded. In addition, in a full drum, things rub against each other more thoroughly, which means they are washed better. Another important indicator is Minimum permissible amount of loaded laundry: As a rule, this is the average value for all models and is equal to 1 - 1.5 kg. With a smaller load, washing machine parts wear out quickly.

Important: Manufacturers indicate the weight of loaded laundry based on cotton clothing - T-shirts, shorts, leggings. Down jackets, blankets and woolen clothing take up more space for the same weight. Therefore, a drum designed for 5 kg will fit slightly less of these things.

Loading type and dimensions

Give preference to a washing machine with frontal or vertical loading you need depending on the place where you plan to place it - they wash the same way.

For a small bathroom, top-loading machines are suitable. You can choose a model with maximum load without sacrificing scarce space. Another plus is that in machines of this type you can add laundry or remove some items during the washing process.

Front-loading machines are more popular, primarily because their prices are always lower. Such models are suitable for the kitchen or for a spacious bathroom. Front-loading machines are divided into several types: narrow (depth 32−34 cm), medium (40−45 cm) and full-size (from 50 cm). Please note: in front-loading machines, the dimensions are directly related to the size of the drum, and therefore to the load capacity of the laundry. It is unlikely that it will be possible to load more than 3.5 kg of laundry into narrow models, while full-size ones are often designed for a weight of 5 kg or more.

Spin speed

In modern washing machines, the maximum spin speed reaches 2000 drum revolutions per minute, but in practice, 800 - 1200 revolutions are enough to spin most things. Different fabrics require different drum speeds. Therefore, when choosing, it is better to focus not so much on the maximum spin speed, but on the presence in the washing machine of a function for adjusting this speed. This option is not available in all models, but in any modern washing machine you can set a mode depending on the type of fabric - in this case, the machine itself will limit the maximum permissible spin speed.

Water and electricity consumption

Laundry, especially in a large family, usually happens several times a week. Therefore, it is very important that the washing machine can save both water and electricity. Class A+++ models consume the least amount of water and electricity per 1 kg of washed laundry. Cars of classes A++, A+ and A are considered economical. Class B models consume more electricity, but are also cheaper.

Fuzzy Logic or intelligent washing control.
A great way to save on water and electricity is with machines / / . These are names of the same intelligent washing control system, patented by different manufacturers. System Fuzzy Logic controls the washing process and optimizes it so that the consumption of water and electricity is minimal. Before starting the program, you only need to specify the type of fabric, and the smart machine itself will select the mode and spin speed.

Leak protection

None of us enjoy “accidents” when doing laundry. In case of a sudden breakdown, there is a “leakage protection” function: if anything in the machine is damaged, water stops flowing into the hoses. If there is too much water in the tank, protection is also provided against overflow.

Foam control

Another way to protect yourself is with a foam control system. A special sensor controls the process of foam formation, and the pump pumps it out of the drum. Washing becomes safer even if you use a lot of powder or if there is excess foam. This improves the quality of rinsing.

Child lock

Today, many have a “Child Lock” function. Flashing buttons often attract curious kids. To prevent children from accidentally violating the washing schedule and harming themselves, manufacturers have provided a mode that locks the machine using a certain combination of buttons.

Easy ironing

Often we take freshly washed laundry out of the machine so hard and wrinkled that we have to fiddle with the iron for a long time, bringing the clothes back to normal. normal look. The mode helps to cope with this problem. During the rinsing process, the machine “adds” water into the drum so that things are distributed evenly and do not wrinkle. In addition, the intermediate spin is excluded from the program; the laundry is spun only at the last stage. This system reduces the formation of wrinkles to a minimum.

Extra rinse

Families with children will find it useful. This option allows you to more thoroughly remove detergent residue from fabrics, especially when the machine is lightly loaded using a standard amount of detergent. This function is useful for people prone to allergies.

Modern housewives definitely need to know how to choose an automatic washing machine for their home. It is impossible to imagine your life without this device and it is extremely difficult to run a household. We buy this device for years, so you should have a good understanding of its varieties, loading methods, energy consumption classes and other parameters.

What types of washing machines are there?

Many housewives distinguish washing machines only by appearance, dividing them into devices and horizontal types. In order to thoroughly understand the question of which washing machine is better, this is not enough. It is advisable to know in general terms the purpose of all its main components and parts, design features, functions, and characteristics.

How to choose an automatic washing machine based on the main criteria:

  1. Clothes capacity. The standard drum capacity of household washing machines ranges from 3 kg to 7 kg. In the question of how to choose the best automatic washing machine, you need to take into account the number of family members. A load of 3.5-4.5 kg is enough for two or three people, and drums of 5-7 kg are designed for large families.
  2. Case material. Stainless steel is reliable and lasts for decades. The disadvantages of machines made from this material are that they are expensive and noisy to operate. High quality plastic- the best option. It lasts up to 25 years, is inexpensive, practical, makes little noise and does not conduct electricity.
  3. Water connection method. Some models can be connected to a cold and hot tap at the same time, which reduces energy losses, but this method you are highly dependent on the stability of the temperature in the network. Connecting to cold water makes washing better; the machine itself adjusts the temperature to the desired value.
  4. Type of control. Mechanical buttons are simple and reliable. The sensor is more expensive and breaks more often, but it is more convenient to use.
  5. Built-in and free-standing models. The first type of machine is often installed in the kitchen. Fully built-in samples have recesses for plinths and removable top panels; there is an option for hanging furniture doors.

When deciding which washing machine to choose for your home, the method of loading laundry into the drum plays a role. The front type of devices is more functional; they have a beautiful design and transparent doors. The disadvantages of this type are that it requires more space in the room, you cannot add things to the drum after turning it on, and when unloading or loading horizontally, a person needs to bend down.

Understanding further the variety of washing machines, wondering which one is better to choose for your apartment, let’s consider vertical-type household appliances. They take up less space and do not require bending over when putting in laundry, so they are better suited for an elderly person or the owner of a small home. All automation here is located on top panel, which has its advantages; it is more difficult for small children to reach the control panel.

Dimensions of vertical loading machines:

Considering different variants, how to choose an automatic washing machine, you need to mention devices with a mode. They have additional heating elements for heating air, which is driven through the working chamber and absorbs excess moisture. The drum itself given time rotates slowly, which helps to carry out the process more evenly. In simple devices, the drying time is set using a timer; in expensive machines, humidity is controlled using sensors.

A common cause of failure of these devices is drum overload, so you need to use them in drying mode with caution. The majority of machines with this function have horizontal loading. Good feedback received models from Bosch and Gorenje. If you are interested in a vertical washer-dryer, you can choose models from the Blomberg or Brandt brands.

Examples of automatic washing machines and dryers:

How to choose the right washing machine?

Further examining the question of how to choose a high-quality automatic washing machine, you need to pay attention to the device, the washing class and the motors installed in the device. Any function or characteristic further affects the quality of washing, the durability of the machine, and energy consumption. For example, if you are interested in saving electricity, then try to purchase quality models class "A" and "A+".

Washing machine motor power

The power of a washing machine is not constant; energy consumption varies depending on the mode. Previously, they were installed everywhere on machines asynchronous motors from 180 W to 360 W or brushed motors for 380-800 W. Since 2005, brushless compact motors directly connected to drums have become widely used.

The total power of energy consumed consists of several quantities - the power of the main engine, heater, pump, control sensors. On average, the efficiency class is calculated in the “cotton” mode at 60°C. This indicator is decisive when you need to choose good machine gun. If “A++” class machines consume from 0.14 kW per hour, then “D” class budget models consume from 0.29 kW.

What is the best spin class in washing machines?

To choose the right washing machine according to its parameters, you need to pay attention to the passport data. The classification of machines allows you to easily determine the quality of the spin cycle and the moisture content of the clothes at the end of the wash. For example, class G corresponds to 90% humidity, and the highest class A corresponds to no more than 45%. The weakest washing and highest moisture content of clothes is obtained in class F and G devices. Class C, D, E – intermediate level. High efficiency of spinning and washing - class A and B machines.

Dimensions of a horizontal washing machine

The height of standard machines ranges from 85-90 cm, only compact models are produced with a height of 68 cm. The width and depth of the device - the characteristics of the washing machine strongly depend on the size of the drum load. There are four main types of these household appliances, which differ slightly from each other in their proportions and dimensions.

Types of household front-facing washing machines:

  1. Compact devices: height – from 68 cm, depth – from 43 cm, width – from 47, loading – 3 kg.
  2. Ultra narrow type machines: height – up to 90 cm, depth – from 32 cm, width – 60 cm, loading – up to 4 kg.
  3. Narrow machines: height – up to 90 cm, depth – up to 40 cm, width – 60 cm, loading – up to 5.2 kg.
  4. Full-size devices: height and width - the same as the previous type, but with a depth of 60 cm, loading - from 5-7 kg.

Washing machine, which company is better to choose?

If you periodically study reviews of washing machines, it will be much easier to determine which brand is better. On this moment up to 85% of purchased devices are vertical type devices. In this matter, you should look at the layout of the apartment several times and decide on the best option. Almost all lists are dominated by models from Bosch, LG, Samsung and Whirlpool. Excellent characteristics Indesit, Gorenje, Candy, Hotpoint-Ariston, Zanussi, Beko, Electrolux machines are famous.
