Make a photo montage of your photos. How to make a photo montage from your photos Photo montage in Photoshop text lesson

HOW TO MAKE A PHOTOMONTAGE ONLINE USING ONLINE PHOTOSHOP?

For readers who have recently decided to study online Photoshop lessons, let me remind you: The site publishes articles and covers issues on working only with the online version of the Photoshop program.

If you have any questions about working in the offline version of PHOTOSHOP- you can get answers to them on the forum http://www.cyberforum.ru/software/. On this forum, in addition to questions about offline Photoshop and other graphics editors, many issues related to software in general are discussed.

Do you want to make a surprise for your acquaintance, friend, beloved? Do you want to surprise her (him) with your creativity, give her a birthday present?, or simply present your work? Photo montage is just what you need. Moreover, on our website we have !All! what is needed for this.

On our website there are (archives) templates for photomontage, an image editor - (online Photoshop). All you have to do is find a suitable photo of your friend, friend or loved one in order to incorporate it into the edit. Next, we will step by step and in detail follow the entire process of creating a photo montage.

In order to figure out how to make a photo montage online, using templates for Photoshop that are on our website, and online Photoshop, we have everything you need. To create a photo montage we will take a template called " Astronaut ".

We must first unzip this template to any place convenient for you. Then this template will need to be added to our “Photoshop” type editor.

The procedure for loading a template into the editor is simple . It has already been discussed in using Russian free online Photoshop. Therefore, there is no point in dwelling on it in detail, especially since this procedure was described in our articles earlier.

Next we need to select a photo from which we will cut out the head. and insert it into the picture with the astronaut. In your case, this is a photo of your boyfriend or girlfriend. In order to understand how to make a photo montage correctly, you can use the photo that we prepared. Here's what we've selected for this purpose.

First, let's upload this photo into online Photoshop. As you can see in the picture on the left in the photo, the man’s hair is disheveled. This will make cutting out the head a little more difficult. You also need to first take into account the tilt and rotation of the head in the photo, so that as a result of inserting the photo montage it turns out to be of high quality.

Now let's look at the process of cutting out the head and neck. To make it more convenient for us to work, we will first enlarge the image to a size convenient for us so that we can see the entire head and neck.

On the toolbar
- select the Lasso tool, and then at the top under the horizontal menu, select the Polygonal lasso tool. In addition, we need to remember to set "Feather" = 10 to soften the edges. Now we start selecting.

Using the selected tool and periodically clicking on the edge, we will outline the head and neck in our picture. We will try to clearly convey the edges of the image.

After we have selected the head and neck- our selection is now limited by a blinking dotted line. Press Ctrl + C to copy the selection to the clipboard.

Selecting "Feather" smoothing will give you smooth edges on the cut out area.

Now let’s make the template with the astronaut active and press Ctrl + V to paste the cut out part into the picture with the astronaut. As a result of the insertion, we got an additional layer. Which we can rename as we need. You can see what we got in the picture on the left.

Next, with the “head and neck” layer active, which we just inserted, we need to press the key combination Ctrl + T, in order to highlight the "head and neck". We do this in order to reduce its size in relation to the body.

Then we need to hold down the Shift key and drag the corner of the selection in order to, while maintaining the proportions, reduce the size of the head and neck to the size we need, commensurate with the body.

Keep in mind that the astronaut’s torso is “really” even smaller, due to the fact that he is wearing a spacesuit. And so that as a result of reduction, you do not end up with a cartoon, as happens with a very large head in relation to the body.

After we have reached the size we need when reducing- press the Enter key to save the changes made. Now move the layer with the head a little in order to choose the most correct position.

Then take the Eraser tool and set the blur to “Blur” 15 and the transparency “Opasity” to 30, we will work on the neck and hair to give them the most realistic look. This is what we got. (On right). Click to enlarge the picture.

Now you need to connect all the layers.
To do this, move the mouse over the layers panel and click the right mouse button. Select "Merge visible" from the context menu. After this, you need to save your work on your computer, remembering to set the quality to maximum. This is what we ended up with after saving.

A small note. As we said above, before making a photo montage, you always need to study the layout and that part (usually the head) that you will “incorporate” into the layout when creating a photo montage. The rotation of the head is important here, and other characteristics, depending on the layout, that need to be taken into account in advance.

* Attention! Here, as in our other articles, recommendations are given. which will allow you to perform all the necessary operations to work in online photoshop and create photo montages online. In this article, as in others, we describe an approximate option for creating a photo montage. Just like the method described above, there are other options for selecting and performing trimming operations like other operations. In any case, you must make a decision about how to perform a particular operation in a given situation.

Do you want to surprise your loved ones and give them an original photo? Perhaps you're just interested in taking a cool photo - of yourself next to a celebrity or against the backdrop of a Martian landscape? Or place an image of your face in a medieval setting? Maybe you need to combine photos for work? This is easy to achieve if you make a photo montage on your computer.

With photomontage you can:

  • Change photo background
  • Remove or add objects from other photos
  • Combine two photos into one
  • Make a greeting card from a photo

Photo montage on the computer

The most common way to make a photo montage with your own hands is to process photos in Adobe Photoshop. This professional image processing program has a wide range of capabilities. But it is quite complicated for a beginner; it is not easy to figure it out on your own in one evening. Of course, there are a lot of courses and video tutorials online where you can learn how to work in Photoshop, but for this you need to have time and desire.

A similar program is GIMP. Unlike Adobe Photoshop, it is distributed free of charge.

How to combine photos in Photoshop

In Photoshop, open the photos you want to edit. For example, it will be an image of your face and a beautiful background with a sunset or sea surf. Duplicate the layer on each image. Drag the second photo onto the photo that should become the background. From the Edit menu, select FreeTransform. Using the mouse, change the photo size and its proportions, and drag it to the desired location. When finished, press Enter.

Select the mode for adding a vector layer mask in the toolbar. Set the main color to black and the second color to white, and use a soft brush to paint over unnecessary areas of the photo. They will become invisible. For a softer and more natural transition of the background, change the size and softness of the brush in small areas.

If you accidentally delete the desired part of the photo, change the colors - from black to white, and paint over the area that needs to be restored with a brush. The drawing will return.

When you're done removing the background, exit the vector mask mode.

There is another way to mount photos in Photoshop - using the Lasso tool to select part of the image. Select the desired area of the photo and delete the rest of the image. Overlay the image on the photo that should become the background, and use the photo editor tools to achieve an organic connection between them. In a high-quality collage, individual fragments are combined so that the image appears complete.

To do this, you need to make soft transitions between photographs, smooth out the borders, select the color and brightness of each piece and adjust the scale. Photoshop tools will give you the opportunity to shade a photo, cut out or add objects, apply effects, change the color and brightness of part or all of the photo. Using different tools, try to achieve the desired effect.

After you are done working in Photoshop, merge the layers and save the file.

Photo montage online

You can make your own photo montage on your computer simply in your browser. To do this, you will need a good Internet connection and a computer powerful enough to work with graphic files. There are many free sites for photo processing, you can find them yourself by typing the appropriate request in Google or Yandex. For example:

To edit photos online with your own hands, you don’t need any special knowledge or skills. The site will ask you to upload one or more pictures. Sometimes you will have to upload a photo from your computer, sometimes you can provide a link to a photo that is stored on another website or social network. Please note that the result will depend on the quality of the photo.

The online photo editor will offer a set of backgrounds, frames and other decorations of your choice. Once you place your photo on your chosen background, you can play with the settings and effects to get the best result.

After the photo montage is ready, you can receive a link to your photo, save it on your computer or send it by mail. If you are not satisfied with the result, you can go back and redo the collage from any stage.

Photo collage using a smartphone or tablet

Modern smartphones also allow you to make a photo collage with your own hands - both iPhone and phones on the Android and Windows platforms.

Using a photo editor for smartphones and tablets with a photo, you can do everything with your own hands as in online photo editors:

  • Add or change background
  • Add frames and decorations
  • Apply effects
  • Add text

Editing photographs with your own hands, if you approach the matter creatively and wisely, is not an easy task. But if you want, have free time and internet search skills, you can achieve amazing results. We hope our tutorials will help you create an image you'll be happy with.

“Based on this very simple montage, I will try to show how I create fairy-tale images.

For editing we will need: source photo (fairytale photo), original photo (real real photo), all sorts of bells and whistles - hair brushes, eyelashes, shimmering clipart. I'll try to find the bells and whistles and post them for download.

In order to create a montage, you need to choose the right photographs (the tilt of the head is very important, as well as the style and character of the source that suits the person). In Photoshop, open two photographs that we will combine and select the same size for them: menu Image - Image Size. The resolution (for example, 200 pixels per inch) and the size in centimeters of the printed image (approximately here) must match.

The next step is to transfer one image to another. Take the Rectangular Area tool and select the area that we will transfer. Next, press Ctrl + C (or menu Image - Copy). Go to the source image and press Ctrl + V (or menu Image - Paste).

Take the Move tool and drag the face onto the face of the fairy-tale character. Using the eraser tool, we clean the face a little from excess fragments.

Next, we need the faces to match in size and location. To do this, go to the menu Edit - Free Transform. The selected area appears, hold down Shift and grab the corner of the transformed area and begin to move it in the direction of reduction (until the sizes match). If you move the mouse a little away from the corner, it will take the form of a double arrow - you can rotate the image in a circle. Adjust the size and position of the face and press Enter.

This is how the result should turn out. Next, select the eraser tool. At the top, below the menu bar, are the tool parameters. Select a soft brush, opacity and pressure - 100%. Carefully, adjusting the size of the tool, we finally erase everything unnecessary so that only the face remains (without hair, neck, ear, etc.).
As you can see in the photo, on the right side there are additional functions - windows (I have layers, operation and history). If something doesn’t work out for you in a step, you can always undo it in the History window. It is advisable to carry out all manipulations on different layers (Layers window), duplicating them (right-click on the layer - create a duplicate layer) or creating new ones (at the bottom of the window on the panel, the Create a new layer button). This blank with intermediate layers can be saved (for editing) in PSD format.

In addition to the Eraser tool, you can use a function such as Layer Mask to edit the image (i.e., fix it with the ability to restore it). This function is available in the bottom panel of the Layers window (second from the left - an envelope with a circle). You just need to press this button while on the layer that you will edit. When we press this button, a window appears next to our layer - a miniature image of the layer mask. To edit, click on this window to make it active (if we want to work with an image and not a layer mask, then click on the image). Then we take the brush, and remember that the Black brush will seem to erase (in fact, just hide), and the White brush will return (the opposite action).

Using the brush, you can change the parameters at your discretion (opacity, pressure, diameter, brush type). Everything we do is reflected in a miniature window - painted over in black and white...
This function is good because it allows unlimited editing at any stage of work...
That. You can use both tools: Eraser or layer mask. The eraser erases irrevocably (but you still need to know how to use it), and the Layer Mask allows you to edit and return to the previous state... try different options, the more training, the better the result...

Then we will adjust the color and saturation of the face to the original image. To do this (while we are doing all the manipulations with the Face layer), go to the Image - Corrections menu. There are many submenus for various image adjustments, there are automatic settings, they are needed for minor auto-correction of a finished photo, for editing you have to do it manually

So, we begin adjusting the face; we need to bring it as close in color to the original as possible.
In Adjustments, select Hue/Saturation. A window appears with three scales with sliders. Here, I recommend not to touch the upper scale, it is very sensitive, and we will edit the color tone in another place.
Saturation scale, here I moved the slider to the left, removing the color saturation of the face. The Brightness scale - look here as you go, I moved it a little to the right. When this type of correction is completed, click OK.

Next, select Color Balance in Adjustments. The window settings should be like in my photo. There are also three scales, divided by color: cyan - red, magenta - green, yellow - blue. By moving the sliders we select the necessary color solutions for our face. You can also slightly adjust the color balance of the source (if desired).

Now also about an equally important thing - “implanting” a face into the source code. We have already selected the color, saturation, size, rotation, but the face is still like a mask. Take the Brush tool (the settings are the same as mine - a soft round brush, opacity and pressure about 22 -25, blending mode normal). Now about how to work with a brush: bring the brush to the area that needs to be painted and next to it, holding down the Alt button (an eyedropper appears for selecting a color sample), click the left mouse button. Here the color we need automatically appears at our brush, and we begin to carefully paint and smear it along the border of the layers. Do not forget that we can cancel any action in the History window. Then you need to add shadows on the face (on the area near the neck, under the hair, etc.), here we take a black brush and with the same settings as we used, draw a shadow, preferably on a new layer, so that if something happens they can be removed later .

Upon closer examination, it should not be clear that the face is not native. You need to pay very close attention to this part of the work, otherwise it will look unnatural.

Next, I decided to add (draw) a little hair in order to better hide the traces of installation))).
To do this, you need to download hair brushes into Photoshop (there are no standard sets of them, they are downloaded separately), as well as, at the same time, eyelash brushes.
After you download them, you need to load them into Photoshop: menu Edit - Manage Libraries - brush library, Load, look for the path to the brushes, select the one you need, load, click Finish. The brush appears in the brush set.
Then we look for the one we need (either through the settings panel or through the brush window - at the top in the right corner).
Create a new layer and draw hair on it with a brush. Select the size (by the way, the size of brushes and all tools can be adjusted using the X (smaller) and B (larger) buttons). Now we need to select the color of the strand, you can do it in the way that I described above, or by clicking on two colored squares on the toolbar, a window with a Color Picker will appear and there you can select a color using an eyedropper.

We have chosen the color and size, now we put it in the right place and click with the left mouse button, as if stamping. In this case, the opacity and brush pressure should be 100%. And so several times, changing color and size. Next, if the tilt of the hair does not correspond to the tilt of the head, we adjust it using Free Transformation (see above).

For clarity, if you leave only this layer with hair, it should look something like this.

Now we will draw the eyelashes. Select an eyelash brush (a separate brush for each eye, as well as separate lower and upper eyelashes). Take the color black, opacity and pressure 100%. We draw each eyelash on a separate layer, so that we can then fit it to the eye.

Here's a closer look at where to place the brush.

We adjust each eyelash to the size of the eye, change (if necessary) the slope. We do all this using the Free Transform tool.

This is what should happen as a result.
You can also add shadows on a separate layer using a soft brush with opacity and pressure from 25 to 30%. And you need to place this layer under the layers with eyelashes (in the layers window, just drag the layer with shadows under the layers with eyelashes).

When the main work of implanting the face into the base is completed, you can add some decorations or appropriate clipart. I had shiny things. In general, your imagination can run wild here; you can make some additions with brushes, additional pictures, etc.

Now let’s do a little magic to make the picture look like a canvas and “glowing from within” and more magical...
First, create a new layer on top of the others and use the Fill tool (similar to a jug) to fill the layer with beige color (100% opacity, normal mode). Next we will use the Filter menu. It's full of all sorts of interesting filters for creating various effects on photos.
Select the submenu Texture - Texturizer.

A window with the Texturizer appears. On the left we see our picture and what happens to it, in the middle there are filter options in the Texture submenu (so as not to go far and move from one function to another without leaving the filter window), on the right are parameters.
I chose the texture - canvas, scale 107%, relief 4, light up and left. Here you can experiment as you like, to your taste. Everything is selected and installed, click OK.

Then go to the Layers window and at the top change the blending mode from Normal to Soft Light.
This is how we should do it.

Now you need to create a new layer (don’t forget to periodically save the working file in PSD format) and do the following manipulation called - Print visible (layers): press Shift + Ctrl + Alt + E at the same time. In this layer, all previous layers merge into one, while maintaining the floor with this layer.
Next we will use Curves. Curves are needed to balance color/light.

In the window that appears, set 2 sliders diagonally as in the picture, then move them one by one to adjust the desired color/luminance....you don’t have to do this step if you are completely satisfied with the previously obtained result

Dear reader, this Photoshop tutorial is primarily intended for those who are just starting to learn the basics of digital photography. For those who at this stage are still frightened by such words and concepts as “layer masks”, “adjustment layers of settings”, “curves”, etc. My task is to show how, using a minimal set of tools that do not require deep knowledge and multi-level combinations in Photoshop, bring an interesting idea to life.

Before you skim further along the lines, ask yourself a question. Do I have a lot of footage from the so-called “About Nothing” series in my archive?
Let me explain a little - first of all, these are random shots, takes from a released series based on one story, or those shots that seemed like “masterpieces” in the viewfinder, but when viewed at home on the monitor, for some reason they stopped liking them. If the answer is “yes,” then I hope that you may learn something useful from this article.
Advice - if possible, do not throw seemingly unsuccessful shots into the trash immediately after uploading them to the computer from the camera. After all, any archive has a certain document storage period. It is quite possible that in a week, two or a year, you will discover that by combining two frames from the series “About Nothing” together, you get a funny scene.

Yes, editing is not photography in its pure form, but no matter what it is called, it is, first of all, your creativity and the realization of a flight of fantasy.
The two frames that I chose for this lesson are separated in time by exactly a year. Exactly a year ago, while walking through the forest, I tested my camera for burst shooting and photographed a crow during takeoff. Having released a series based on it, I got all the phases of its rise. The footage taken that day remained in a folder called “Test”. And just recently a dachshund in a hunting stance came into my viewfinder. Her look seemed so interesting to me that I couldn’t resist taking a photo. And only at home I realized that this look was going “nowhere.” “She must be looking at something in the frame,” I said to myself and began to save the situation. After rummaging through the archives, I came across this crow. The time of year is almost the same, the focal length is almost the same, and the position of the camera relative to the subject is the same. Only the sun in the frames was from opposite sides, but after mirroring (Flip Canvas Horizontal) the photo with the crow, everything fell into place. It remains to decide what is easier to do - move the crow or the dachshund. It turned out that it was easier to put a dachshund in a frame with a crow, since carefully cutting out the crow and moving it from a dark to a white background would require much more time, using more tools and adjustments. Our task is: minimum actions - maximum results.

Advice - first of all, make sure that the sharpness of the transferred objects (if their location in the frame is assumed to be in the same plane) is identical and, if possible, the objects are equally illuminated. It is also worth keeping an eye on the size ratio. Using these rules, you will achieve the most realistic perception of the picture. And one more thing - the depth of field (depth of field of the imaged space) should also not be impaired (well, there are no sharp objects in the focal blur zone!).

So, let's start processing photos
Let's outline our dachshund along with the adjacent snow background using the Lasso Tool (lasso) (photo 1).

If you select a dachshund exactly along the contour of its body, then, figuratively speaking, in the new frame it will simply hang in the air. You'll have to draw a shadow. By rearranging it with the “native” background, we will kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, there is no need to paint on the shadow and, secondly, it looks more naturalistic. There are two simple ways to move objects. The first is to copy the object to the clipboard with Ctrl+C and then paste from it into another frame with Ctrl+V. The second way is to select the Move Tool, click it in the selection area and simply drag the object, holding down the left mouse button, onto another frame (photo 2).

We position the dachshund in the place we need and remove the excess using a regular eraser with a soft edge (photo 3).

After everything is done, “suddenly” it turns out that the size of the dog, located in the same plane as the crow, is implausibly large. This exactly relates to the size ratio that I already talked about. No problem. Go to “Edit”, select “Free transform” and, holding down the Shift key, give the dog the appropriate dimensions (photo 4).

Pay attention to the fact that after you remove the remnants of the old background with an eraser, the outline of the object should not appear to be “cut out with an axe,” but should blend smoothly into the background. Select the Blur tool and carefully move it along the edge of the cut out object. The force of the tool can be changed (photo 5).

Advice - be sure to look at how the cut out object matches the background in brightness and contrast. If necessary, adjust its brightness and contrast levels. The very last step is the command “Merge Layers” (Flatten Image).
With this primitive method it is very easy to do what you can see in the final version. Now look at all three photographs and tell me which is more interesting? And is it worth deleting what initially seemed unworthy of attention.
After all, it’s worth applying a little imagination and your photos will take on a second life.

Good day, dear friends. I'm slowly returning to the Internet after the long May holidays. The garden was dripping, I was planting potatoes. In other matters, like everyone who has their own dacha or personal plot). But, despite all the holidays, I found time for a new interesting lesson about using photographs.

But first, some news...

News 1. I announce the beginning crossword puzzle tournament. There will be 5 crossword puzzles in total, which you will find in my upcoming lessons. Today first crossword at the end of this lesson. The ten participants who guess the crossword puzzle the fastest will be awarded points from 10 to 1, respectively. After the end of the tournament, the participants’ points are added up and recorded in the final table. The three participants with the most points receive small cash prizes and more.

1st place – 300 rub.

2nd place – 200 rub.

3rd place - 100 rub.

A random lucky winner from all participants will receive a prize of 50 rubles.

In addition, all three winners will receive my new paid and personalized tournament participant certificate in graphic format, which you can print and hang on your wall. So friends, let's all participate in the tournament together!!!

News 2. Started recording a new one video course on the GIMP photo editor. This time the course will be paid, but don’t be alarmed, the price will be small (in the first days of sales HUGE discounts).

What will the course be about? I decided to convert my book into video format "Popular photo effects in GIMP", which is currently downloaded more than 3000 people.

The video course will not only contain lessons from my old book, but there will also be many new interesting lessons on creating effects in the GIMP editor, which will adequately decorate your photos. Thus, by studying the new video course, you will significantly raise your skill in working in a graphics editor to a new level and learn many useful tricks and techniques for yourself.

In addition, the course will have many pleasant and useful additional bonuses (plugins, scripts, textures, instructions, etc.). I am 100% sure you will like it.

I think I’ve told you everything about the news, and now it’s time to start the next lesson. Is everyone ready? Then we start creating simple

How to make a photo montage from photos in the GIMP editor

Step 1. Launch the GIMP editor and through the menu "File - Open" open the first photo. You can use any of your photos or download photos from today's tutorial.

Step 2. Now that we have the first photo open and the first layer has appeared in the layers panel, we need to load the second photo. To do this, go to the menu "File - Open as layers" and in the window that appears, select the second photo on your computer.

Step 3. As you can see, in my case, the second uploaded photo turned out to be much larger than the first. Therefore, we need to reduce the size of the second layer with the photo. To do this, on the GIMP editor toolbar, select "Scale" and click once on the layer to activate the tool.

In the dialog box that appears, click on the chain icon to turn on the proportional resizing mode and, using the mouse, drag any corner of the frame inward to reduce the layer to the desired size. Here's what I got.

After that, moving the mouse cursor to the center of the zoom frame, place the top layer (second photo) in the desired place in the background (first photo)

Step 4. Now that the original photos are compositionally positioned, you need to remove the background from the top layer and leave only the people. For this purpose we will use the GIMP editor's selection tools, brushes and one white layer mask on the top layer.

In the layers panel, select the top layer and right-click. In the context menu that opens, select the item "Add Layer Mask"(Mode – White color).

Visually, nothing happened on the canvas, but if you look closely at the layers panel, a white rectangle appears next to the top layer. This is the white layer mask.

and paint over the extra background on the top layer (in the screenshot below - highlighted in red), leaving only people. Let me remind you once again that with a brush we paint not on the layer, but on the layer mask. Remember this.

Thus, at the first (draft) stage of working with a brush, we removed only part of the background on the top layer. In order to remove the remnants of the background around people, you need to reduce the brush scale and VERY CAREFUL paint over the remaining background, while trying not to touch people. I emphasize once again that this stage is the most difficult and important, but the final result depends on it. Here's what I got…

Step 5. Let's add realism to our photo in the next step and draw a simple shadow cast by people walking along the road. I decided to add shadow to the people because, if you look closely at the photo, the trees (in the first original background photo) in the distance cast a small shadow on the road. Therefore, when drawing a new shadow, we will focus specifically on the shadows of the trees.

Create a new transparent layer and move it to the very top. Next using the tool "Elliptical selection" draw an oval selection and paint it black.

Deselecting "Select - Remove".

After that, blur the edges of the selection through the filter “Filters – Blur – Gaussian Blur”. We set the settings to achieve soft edges of the shadow. For me it is 20 px.

And finally, adjust the opacity of the shadow layer using the layer opacity slider. I set the value to 60%.

I think it looks good? Is not it?
