What program can you use to clean your computer? How can you clean your computer so it doesn't slow down?

Usually, after installing the operating system, the computer works very quickly, but over time it slows down noticeably and if nothing is done, it may begin to slow down or freeze. In this article we will talk about how to clean your computer so that it does not slow down and works almost as fast as after installation. The article will be relevant for Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 10.

If your computer is slow and you want to solve this problem, then you should start by freeing up space on system disk. It may seem that the number free space on the system disk should not have any effect on the speed of the computer, but in practice there is such an effect and it is quite significant.

The fact is that programs need space on the system disk in order to save their settings and intermediate work results (temporary files). And if there is not enough space on the system disk, then programs can noticeably slow down or even freeze. For all programs to work properly, you need to make sure that there is at least a few gigabytes of space on the system disk (more is better).

The easiest way to clean up your system disk is to use the Disk Cleanup utility. To do this, open the “My Computer” window, click right click mouse over the system disk, select “Properties” and in the window that opens, click on the “Disk Cleanup” button.

After this, the system will analyze the files on the system drive and show you what can be safely deleted. Check the boxes next to the files that you agree to delete and click on the “Ok” button.

You can also clean up your system disk by removing programs that you do not use. To do this, you need to go to “” and open the “Remove programs” section there.

After this, you need to right-click on the program that you want to remove and select the “Delete” option in the menu that appears.

If uninstalling programs also does not free up enough space on the system drive, then you can try moving some of the user files from the system drive to some other drive. Usually most user files is located in the following folders:

  • Desktop – at C:\Users\Username\Desktop;
  • The “Downloads” folder is located at C:\Users\User_name\Downloads;
  • Folder “My Documents” - at C:\Username\Aleks\Documents;

You can read more about freeing up space on the system disk in the article “”.

Defragment your system drive

If you have regular hard disk (not an SSD), then after freeing up space on the system disk, you can defragment it. This will optimize the placement of files on the disk and increase the speed of the computer.

To perform defragmentation, you can use the built-in utility or third-party programs. For example, we will show how this is done in the free Auslogics program Disk Defrag Free.

Launch the program Auslogics Disk Defrag Free, mark the system disk and click on the “Defragmentation” button. After this, the program will analyze the selected disk and begin defragmentation if it is really needed. After starting defragmentation, you just need to wait for the process to finish.

Clean startup

After freeing up space on the system disk and defragmenting, it's worth. If there are too many programs in startup, the computer can slow down very noticeably. Therefore, if you want to clean your computer so that it does not slow down, then you cannot do without checking startup.

If you use the Windows XP or Windows 7 operating system, then you can clean startup using the MSCONFIG utility. To do this, open the Run menu using the combination Windows keys+ R, enter the command “MSCONFIG” and click on the “OK” button.

In the window that opens, go to the “Startup” tab. Here you will see a list of programs that are in startup and start automatically when the operating system starts. Study the list of programs and identify the programs that you do not need. In order to remove these programs from startup, simply uncheck the boxes and save the settings using the “Ok” button.

In the Windows 10 operating system, to manage startup, you need to open the “Task Manager” and go to the “Startup” tab. In order to disable autoloading of a program, here you need to right-click on it and select the “Disable” option.

Programs can also start automatically using services. To disable unnecessary programs in services, run the MSCONFIG command and go to the “Services” tab. Everything is the same here, both in Windows 7 and in Windows 10. First you need to check the box next to the “Do not display Microsoft services” function. After this, only services from third-party programs will be displayed in the list of services. You can disable any service installed by a third-party program; this will not affect the operation of the operating system.

To turn off do not necessary services uncheck the boxes next to them and save the settings by clicking on the “Ok” button.

Clean browser extensions

Another place where there may be a large number of necessary programs This is a list of browser extensions. Each browser extension creates an additional load, and given that most users have the browser running all the time, this can cause the computer to noticeably slow down.

In order to solve this problem, go to your browser and go to the page with a list of extensions. If you use Google Chrome, then to do this you need to open the browser menu, select “Additional tools” and go to “Extensions”. In other browsers, the list of extensions may open differently.

Study the list of installed extensions and remove those that you do not use. IN Google browser Chrome, to remove an extension, you just need to click on the trash can icon.

Hello dear readers of the site. In this article we will look at how to clean your computer yourself .
Over time, any computer becomes overgrown with “unnecessary files” remaining after installing or uninstalling programs, or dust that accumulates inside the system unit, settling on the motherboard, video card, hard drives, interfering with their normal operation and cooling. All this leads to the fact that the computer begins to “freeze”, “slow down”, “errors appear”, in a word, it does not work well.

That’s when we start sounding the alarm, looking for friends or contacting companies that specialize in restoring computers, and they charge good money for their work.

I will tell you how to clean your computer, and any user can do this, and how to avoid getting into this situation in the future.

Typically, cleaning your computer from debris takes place in three stages and takes about two to three hours, so if you decide, then be patient.

First stage- cleaning the system unit from dirt and dust;
Second phase- checking for viruses, fixing system errors;
Third stage - cleaning hard disk from unnecessary files, and defragmentation.

First stage - How to clean your computer

At the first stage we will need a screwdriver, a vacuum cleaner and a paint brush with natural bristles.
Turn off the power to the system unit, disconnect all the wires from it, choose a convenient place and place the system unit on its side. We remove the side cover and see how much dust is inside.

You can simply collect dust from visible surfaces and consider that the job is done, but since you have made up your mind, we will do it as expected.

Attention! Before each touch to the internal elements of the system unit, be sure to remove static from yourself by touching the metal part of the case.

We remove the video card first so that it does not interfere with us. To do this, you need to unscrew the screw or screws securing it to the back of the case, and when you remove the video card from the slot motherboard, at the same time bend the plastic latch located at the back of the slot. If you have additional power cables connected to your video card, remember them and disconnect them.

It is advisable to remove the RAM modules. As a rule, they are located not far from the processor cooler. To remove them, simultaneously press the latches located on both sides of the module, and it will come out of the slot.

We have completed all the preliminary operations, and now we begin to clean the computer from dust.

First, we collect all the dust around the motherboard, i.e. from the bottom and body of the system unit. To do this, move the brush without pressure, as if you were painting, and use a vacuum cleaner to suck up all the debris from under the brush.

Be sure to open the front cover of the computer case and remove all dust from there. As a rule, the lid is secured with plastic latches that are pressed out from inside the case.

Now we clean the dust from the components of the system unit. Here, too, carefully move the brush and use a vacuum cleaner to suck up all the debris that it has picked up.

If you are afraid that you may damage or break off a radio component, calm down and believe that for this you need to apply good force, and since you move the brush without pressure, you will not be able to break off anything.

You definitely need to clean the processor cooler. We unscrew the four screws securing the fan to the radiator and remove it, but this must be done carefully so as not to damage the mount of the cooler itself. If the fan does not budge, carefully slide a screwdriver between it and the radiator and pry it off. Anything goes. You are not the first, you are not the last.

Notice how the accumulated dust between the radiator fins has turned into cotton wool. Now imagine in what mode the processor operates without normal cooling, this is where all the freezes and errors occur. We collect dust from the fan, radiator and around it.

Some also recommend removing the cooler completely, i.e. separate the surfaces of the heatsink and processor. Do not do that. It will be enough if you collect the accumulated dust between the motherboard and the cooler with a brush and a vacuum cleaner.

The next most important element of a computer is the power supply. Without it, a computer is a simple piece of hardware. If it fails, almost all of the stuffing will have to be replaced, so without talking, unscrew the four screws on the back wall of the system unit case and remove the power supply.

What about the wires? For convenience, it would be better to remove them from the connectors on the motherboard and system unit components, but if you assume that you will not insert them back correctly, sketch, mark, photograph, or leave them as they are. But I warn you, it won’t be entirely convenient. The photo shows exactly the second option - we do not remove the connectors.

Unscrew the four screws on top cover power supply, remove the cover and the following picture appears before your eyes: - “Beautiful, isn’t it?”

We also use a brush and vacuum cleaner to collect all the dirt, and I would also recommend that you remove the dust under the power supply board itself. We don’t have to do this, we’ve already collected almost all the dirt to the maximum, but we’ll do it to clear our conscience.

Unscrew the screws securing the board. But since we won’t be able to pull it out completely, we need to unsolder the wires going to the power connector, so we simply lift the board on the opposite side of the connector, but so that we can work with a brush. You don't need to push it too hard.

If you look at the bottom of the photo, you can see that there is quite a lot of dust collected between the board and the insulating gasket, so this also needs to be cleaned. And just before assembling the power supply, don’t forget to vacuum its cooler.

We assemble the power supply in reverse order and install it in place.

Now let's look at the video card and RAM. We take an eraser and lightly walk it along the paths with which they are inserted into the motherboard connector to clean off the deposits that have formed during use.
If your video card has a special cooling system casing installed on top of the radio elements, it is advisable to remove it to get to the graphics processor and cooler.

A little about memory modules. When you put them in place, pay attention to the slot located closer to the middle - this is the “key”. Even if you start installing it incorrectly, it will not let you do it.

Before installing the module into the slot, move the side latches to the sides, then insert the module according to the “key” and press firmly on it so that it fits into the slot. The memory module is installed correctly if the side latches fit completely into its grooves located on the sides.

And the last thing that needs to be done is to “distort” all the connectors on the components of the system unit, i.e. pull it out and put it back in place. If it was somewhere bad contact, then he will recover.
We just do everything carefully .

We install the memory, secure the video card and do not forget about its additional power supply, if any, close the lid, and connect all the cords. And if you have any questions, you can watch the video in our groups or Classmates .

Second stage of computer cleaning

Now let’s get down to creative work, namely cleaning and Windows optimization at the software level.

First you need to check operating system for viruses, and a special one will help us with this free utility Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool from Kaspersky website. Even if you have an antivirus, I think it’s worth checking how it catches all sorts of nasty things from the Internet, even just out of pure curiosity. If curiosity doesn’t get the better of you, then check with your antivirus.

We go to the official Kaspersky website, select the latest version of the program, language, and click “Download”.

The download process will begin, and upon completion, the “setup.exe” file with the Kaspersky anti-virus logo will appear on the “Desktop”.

If you have programs or documents open, close everything.
Double-click on the file and the process of extracting and installing the utility will begin, which may take several minutes.

Once the installation is complete, a standard window will appear where you will need to accept license agreement and click the “Get Started” button.

In this window, click “Run scan” and the scanning and virus cleaning process begins.

Now you just have to wait for the utility to check important areas of the system, where all possible creatures from the Internet usually like to get into.

If during the scanning process the program finds some kind of infection, which you really wouldn’t want, it will suggest what to do. Agree with everything. But there are times when there are two options to choose from: “treat” and “remove”. Always select "delete". Also keep in mind that the utility can identify all sorts of cracks and illegal keys as a virus.

If everything is fine with you, then at the end of the scan a window will appear with pleasing information that no threats were detected, and at the same time, you are once again convinced that your antivirus is well protected.
Even when something is found during the checking process, don’t worry, the utility Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool will sort it all out.

Close the program and it will delete itself. Let's reboot.

Now we check the operating system and hard drive for errors. The hard drive is scanned for all partitions into which it is divided. That is, if your disk is divided into several local disks(sections), which means we start from the very last one. My hard drive is divided into three partitions - “C”, “D”, “E”, so I usually start with drive “E” and end with the drive on which the Windows operating system is installed. As a rule, the system is installed on drive “C” by default.

Let's get started. Go to the “My Computer” folder, hover over the “E” drive, and right-click on it. Will come out context menu, where we select “Properties”.

A window will open where the general information of drive “E” will be visible. Disk capacity, file system, how much disk space is occupied and how much is free. Click the “Service” button.

In the next window you will be offered:

perform a disk check « E» for mistakes,
defragmentation of files on disk,
archive these files.

At this stage, we don’t need this entire set; we’ll do this later, but now we select “Check” the disk for errors.

A small window will appear where you will need to check two boxes, see photo below, and start the test with the “Run” button.

The disk scan has started and will proceed in five stages. The first three are fast, but the fourth and fifth stages will take a long time. So you can go and have a cup of coffee or a snack.

When finished, click “OK”, close the window, and thus check all remaining partitions of the hard drive.

There is one point here: when you run Check Disk “C”, a warning window will appear: “Check Disk cannot be performed because it requires exclusive access to Windows files on this drive, which requires a reboot. Do you want to schedule a disk check to run at the next system reboot?

Naturally we agree. Click “Yes”, click “OK” at the bottom, close the window and reboot the system yourself through the “Start” button.

After reboot Windows, before the welcome window appears, you will see blue screen, where at the top it will be written that drive “C” is being checked.

Just like with the other sections, the scan will take place in five stages, and at the end of the scan, the computer will reboot again, and after that it will go to the “Desktop”.

Half of the second stage is completed. All that remains is to clean the hard drive from junk files and defragment partitions.
After carrying out all the operations, you will be convinced that the system will work thirty percent faster, and maybe even fifty percent faster.

How to clean your computer. Disk defragmentation. Ending.

Now we've reached the final stage cleaning your computer from dust and unnecessary junk files.

At the first stage , we used a brush and a vacuum cleaner to remove dust from all the components located inside the system unit, and also “distorted” the detachable connections connecting these computer components to each other. Thus, possible contact losses in the connectors were eliminated.

At the second stage , we checked the operating system for viruses using the Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, and also, standard utility Windows itself checked the hard drive partitions for errors.

On this final stage We will clear your hard drive partitions of junk files and perform defragmentation.

We clean hard disk partitions from junk files.

To do this, we will again use the standard Windows utility.
Go to the “My Computer” folder and select the disk partition that you want to clear from junk files. Right-click on it and select “Properties”.

If your hard drive is divided into several partitions, then the last one to clean is the partition on which the operating system is installed.

In the window that appears, click the “Disk Cleanup” button.

In the next window, an indicator will appear to estimate the amount of space that can be freed in the selected partition.

At the end of the assessment, you will need to select those files that, in your opinion, are considered junk. As a rule, these files, recommended by the cleaning program, are created by the computer itself during operation, and therefore we can safely get rid of them.

In the upper right corner, the program will indicate how much space can be freed up in this section. In this example, it is 250 Megabytes (circled by a rectangle). But if you have never done disk cleanup, then this figure will be many times more.

In the “Delete the following files” field, check the box next to the junk files that need to be removed from the computer. By default, in this example, the program has already checked the boxes and offers to delete only 8 Megabytes, and leaves the remaining files at your discretion.

We leave only “Files” Office installations”, if they are, and the rest, opposite of which there is a number, we delete. Click "OK".

You will be warned and asked if you intend to delete the selected files. Click “Delete files”.

The removal process has begun.

When the cleaning program removes unnecessary files from this partition, and if there are other partitions on your hard drive, we also clean them. After cleaning the hard drive, reboot the computer. It is recommended to clean your computer 1-2 times a month.

Defragmentation of files.

First, let's figure out why fragmented files appear on the disk and why they need to be defragmented.

File fragmentation , stored on the hard drive, occurs due to the fact that Windows writes them not in one large piece, but in small parts - clusters. Moreover, these clusters can be scattered throughout the hard drive. So it turns out that in order to open the file we need, the reading heads of the hard drive collect it piece by piece from the entire surface. And this, naturally, affects the operation and performance of the computer. Therefore, users who work on their computer every day need to defragment them at least once a month.

The process of defragmentation is to collect all the small parts (clusters) belonging to one file and redistribute them so that they are next to each other. To do this, Windows itself has a special defragmenter program, which we will use.

True, it does not work as quickly as compared to third-party programs such as Auslogics Disk Defrag or Diskeeper. Therefore, if you have never done defragmentation, and your hard drive is heavily fragmented, then this procedure may take a long time.

The figure below, for example, shows the interface third party program defragmenter Auslogics Disk Defrag .

One more thing.

If, after clearing a disk partition of junk files, there is less than 15% of free space left on it from its total capacity, then you will have to delete or transfer to another medium a few more files from this partition in order to provide the program with the necessary free space for work.

So, let's go.
Close all programs that may interfere with the operation of the defragmenter.
Go to the “My Computer” folder, select any section, select it, right-click on it and select “Properties”. In the window that appears, click the “Service” button.

In the next window, click the “Run defragmentation” button.

Here, select the disk partition that you want to defragment. If your hard drive is divided into several partitions, then defragment the partition with the operating system last.
Select the partition and click the “Analyze disk” button.

The defragmentation utility will start, and you can see the process of checking the hard drive partition for fragmented files. Here, you will have to wait a while.

At the end of the scan, it will be shown as a percentage how many fragmented files there are in the selected partition.
Click " Disk Defragmenter ».

The defragmentation process will start. And when it ends, Windows will kindly announce that there are no fragmented files in this section.

We select the next section and also analyze it, and then defragment it. At the end of the process, we reboot the computer and see how it has become faster. It is recommended to defragment once a month.

Well, if you have any questions, watch the video in our groups (links above).

That's all. Now you have found out how to clean your computer from dust and debris , without resorting to the help of specialists, and at the same time save a little money, of which there is never too much.
Good luck to all!

In this article I will teach you how to clean your computer from debris. I'm a blogger and I download a lot of stuff on my computer, install programs, test patches and the like. A lot of debris accumulates in the system, interfering with normal operation. I’ll look at several techniques on how to clean and speed up your computer with your own hands.

These four steps will ensure maximum speed and optimization. I asked my friends to recommend the program, it turned out to be nonsense, so I started looking for it myself. Let's start by cleaning the hard drive.

How to clean your computer of junk: hard drive

I’ll tell you how to clean your computer of junk, follow all the steps in the article. Do not use a standard uninstaller, program Revo Uninstaller will help . As for the garbage on the hard drive itself, we carry it out in two stages.

First stage: standard

Few people know that Windows has a standard cleaning utility. hard drives. To do this, open “my computer”, and on each of the local drives, right-click and select “properties”.

Find and click “clean”.

And we agree with our decision.

The process will take place, after which quite a lot of space will be added to your disk. I’m writing this article from my work computer, it’s 2 weeks old, and during these two weeks almost 6 GB of junk has accumulated.

Second method: program

A standard cleaner is only good for the system itself, so you need to clean the rest of the hard drive as well. For these purposes, I recommend the CCleaner program, here it is official site. There is nothing complicated about downloading for free. We open and see the program window in Russian.

  1. Select the “cleaning” item.
  2. First we do the analysis.
  3. The entire list of unnecessary files will appear, click delete.

This completes cleaning the hard drive. I offer a list of alternatives for free.

  • Advanced Disk Cleaner
  • Blank And Secure
  • Freespacer
  • HDD Cleaner
  • Moo0 Disk Cleaner

Cleaning your computer from garbage: registry

I use to clean my computer from junk in the registry Wise program Registry Cleaner you can download here, the program is completely free. Download and install. When you first start it, they will ask you about a backup copy of the registry, so we do it. Choose deep cleaning, to get rid of all the jambs, which is good, everything is completely in Russian.

Let's go to the optimization section.

  1. The section itself.
  2. Check the boxes, I checked everything.
  3. Click optimize.
  4. After the program runs, the words “optimized” will appear.

The last section compresses the registry, a cool thing. First we need to conduct an analysis. The computer will not respond for some time, do not be alarmed.

Now click on compression. The registry will begin compression, I advise you not to do anything at this time.

After compression there will be a reboot, this is mandatory. The second step was taken, the registry was optimized, the free utility Wise Registry Cleaner helped. As an alternative, I offer other programs that can be downloaded for free and without registration.

Registry application for windows 7,8 and 10

  • Auslogics Registry Cleaner.
  • Vit Registry Fix Free.
  • Reg Organizer - this free program works great on Windows 10, I tested it.
  • Avira RegistryCleaner.

Cleaning the system volume information folder

A month ago, my computer started to boot very slowly, taking about 35 minutes. I thought it was the end of the hard drive, but nothing happened. The thing was that the system volume information folder stores backup copies of recovery points, and I had 253 GB of these points, and I started cleaning it. First you need to enable the visibility of hidden folders. We go into the control panel and find folder options.

  1. Path to the panel.
  2. We display large icons.
  3. Click folder options.
  4. View tab.
  5. Uncheck the box.
  6. Changing the check box.
  7. Click ok.

Now this folder has appeared on the C drive, but it cannot be opened even if administrator rights are configured. To clean it, you need to go to drive C, and find system volume information, right-click and select properties.

To add an administrator to access, click Add.

Enter your account and click ok.

All records have been created, click OK.

During creation there will be all sorts of warnings, ignore them.

To clear recovery points, go to the control panel and look at the screenshot.

  1. Path to the program.
  2. In the left section, select “system protection”.
  3. Select drive C.
  4. Click configure.

That was the problem, I had this slider set to 50%, so all the memory was full. I set it to 5 percent, let there be points. To clear the memory, click delete.

That's it, the hard drive is clean of debris. Let's move on to the last step.

Hard drive defragmentation: free windows 7, 8, 10

Let's start with standard method, works the same on all systems, including Windows 8. We go into my computer and select the disk to defragment.

Defragmentation is the transfer and clustering of system files by type.

  1. Right-click.
  2. Finding properties.
  3. Service tab and defragment.

In the next window select local disk. First, click on analysis, and once it’s done, click on defragmentation. There are analogs to the standard program, but I won’t go into them, because they all work on the same principle.

List of programs for windows 10 and all others.

  • Auslogics Disk Defrag.
  • SuperRam
  • Advanced Defrag
  • Ashampoo Magical Defrag
  • ScanDefrag

Do not use online tools to check for garbage, they will not help, it is better to do it manually.

The article shows how to clean your computer from junk, namely: hard drive, registry, restore points and defragmentation. Keep only what you need on your computer. In conclusion, video.

To operate a complex electronic device, the user must have the appropriate knowledge. And the newcomer will have time to convince himself of the truth of what has been said more than once. However, perhaps now some of you have a question: “If the laptop is stuck, what should you do (Windows 7 will be considered as a pre-installed OS on board the laptop)? If you decided to read the material in the presented article solely out of curiosity, then you are welcome Please - the time you spent will more than pay off in the future. Take a few minutes and skim the paragraphs. It may well turn out that you need to heed the recommendations now! Otherwise, a fatal outcome cannot be avoided...

The most important “symptom of electronic disease”

It's no secret that normal temperature human body is expressed by a certain value - 36.6⁰С. Deviations in one direction or another mean one thing - we get sick. It is not difficult to imagine how difficult it will be for a user to work in a hot, unventilated room. Impact critical temperatures on electronic components laptops are also destructive. As a result of overheating of any system component, the OS becomes unstable. You may be familiar with another common expression: “the computer is buggy.” Therefore, do not be surprised (wiping the sweat from your forehead) why a laptop running Windows 7 is “stupid”. And even if your laptop is operated in acceptable temperature conditions, it’s not a bad idea to be on guard. Lengthy gaming sessions, simultaneous use of several resource-intensive applications are just a few that will one way or another lead to a situation where computing power begins, as they say, to fall. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to systematically monitor the temperature readings of the laptop’s sensors (later we will discuss how temperature monitoring is carried out). As you understand, in addition to the main factor threatening the stability of the OS, “machine fever,” there are many other “causative agents of digital fever.” Read about ways to deal with them and how to generally identify the cause of system glitches in the following paragraphs.

Tight boundaries of “unfavorable” disk space

So, after another unplanned wait, you involuntarily asked the question: “When the laptop is stuck, what should you do? Windows 7 and 8 constantly freeze, as a rule, due to improper functioning of the hard drive. Usually, a novice user does not suspect that everyday manipulations with files: deleting, installation or movement are actions that will require adjustments in the future.Data located on the hard drive must be periodically defragmented.

The complex concept of “data structuring” and a simple explanation of “hard braking”

During use disk drive the inevitable happens - the integrity of the structure of filling memory cells is violated. By uninstalling an application, we free up a certain area on the hard drive. However, the newly written data, due to its size, may not fit into the freed sector. Therefore, the OS divides such a file into fragments, thereby violating its primary integrity, as a result of which the process of reading information becomes somewhat more complicated, and this, as you understand, is a waste of time. It is for this reason that the laptop is “stupid”.

What to do (windows 7)?

Sometimes the seemingly uncontrollable situation of OS braking can simply drive you crazy. An unlucky user, overwhelmed by despair, can even turn directly to an inanimate system... You must admit, it’s no laughing matter when your nerves are on edge. There are often cases when a newcomer begins to implement a destructive scenario. Of course, “there-tara-ram” does not solve anything, and after some time (after the monitor stops smoking) the nervous user can only regret... However, let’s not get distracted, let’s leave psychology and move on to the practical part of the story.

  • So, go to the Start menu.
  • Go to the “Computer” tab to the work area of the window, which displays all active partitions of the hard drive you are using.
  • Place the marker on the system drive “C” and use the right mouse button to bring up the context menu.
  • Select “Properties” from the list.
  • First of all, if the laptop is stuck, what should you do (windows 7)? The OS offers to use the “Disk Cleanup” button - click on it and follow further service instructions.
  • Then go to the “Service” tab in the next window, where you perform several steps step by step.
  • First - “Run check”, which will correct errors in the operation of the disk drive.
  • After the reboot and the automatic repair process, use the button located below - “Defragmentation”.

This way you optimize disk space your hard drive. Now the read head of the drive will not have to wander around looking for the “lost file tail”.

Did you know that an overloaded registry makes your laptop slow?

Windows 7, like all other versions of Microsoft operating systems, during use constantly accesses a special database in which all changes related to the functioning of the OS are recorded. The system log - the registry - stores settings and parameters not only of the operating environment, but also of all installed software. In other words, all software components operate according to a specific algorithm of actions. Now imagine how labor-intensive the process of processing this kind of data becomes when the registry is filled with various digital garbage. To simplify the understanding of such a complex process, let's give an example.

Let's say you uninstalled a certain program, but the uninstaller does not always work cleanly. Usually in system registry some part of the data remains, which, in general, becomes an obstacle to efficient work OS. If your laptop is very slow, you need to restore order to the “digital chaos”; you need to clean and, in some cases, defragment the registry. This way you can restore your operating system to its former agility and lost productivity.

CCleaner: Safe Registry Optimization

The manual method of editing entries in the system log is the prerogative of professionals. A novice user has only one thing left to do - enlist the support of a specialized program that can automatically fix all problems in the registry of the Windows operating environment.

  • Download and install the above software on your laptop.
  • When you start the program for the first time, a window opens active partition"Cleaning". Using this tool, you can free up disk space from temporary and unnecessary files (the standard option was discussed above).
  • The “Registry” tab below will be useful to those who are in a panic tormented by the question: “If the laptop is very “stupid,” what should I do?”
  • After the required window opens, click the “Analysis” button and after a short process of searching for erroneous entries in the system log, feel free to activate the “Cleanup” button.

It is worth noting that it is better not to abuse this kind of software procedure. The registry is a critically important section in the operation of the OS, so you should not once again “shovel” the parameters and settings stored in it.

What slows down Windows startup?

The situation when the laptop is very “stupid” can be correlated with the picture when the user observes an extremely slow loading scenario of the operating environment. The fact is that starting Windows is accompanied not only by the activation of system tools, but also by third-party software, which is listed in the OS priority list - startup. The larger the “elite price list”, the more significant the consumption of system resources. Therefore, it is recommended to edit the startup partition.

  • Press the Win+R key combination.
  • In the checkbox of the “Run” menu, enter the command “msconfig”.
  • Open the “Startup” tab and deactivate (by unchecking) unnecessary programs.

Attention: disable only those applications that you know, as deactivating some system services may critically affect the performance of the OS.

Energy problems

So, we have looked at some solutions to the problem when the laptop is very “stupid”. You already know what to do. Nevertheless, we should not forget that, due to its autonomous portability, the stability of the OS is somewhat dependent on the correctly chosen power supply scheme. In case your computer Balanced power consumption mode is activated, it is unlikely that you will be able to enjoy all the delights of a resource-intensive game. This is worth remembering. Perhaps this is the reason why the laptop freezes.

Let's not go back to how dangerous overheating is. It’s better to talk about how you can prevent the catastrophic consequences that will become inevitable if you do not control the readings of your device’s temperature sensors.

  • Inspect your laptop's external air intake grilles. If they are clogged with dust, clean them.
  • If you use your laptop intensively, take care additional cooling. Buy a special gadget in the form of a stand.
  • Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not have a standard software tool for temperature monitoring. However, such information is available to you in the BIOS. By the way, there is a lot of third-party software that can be used to control the temperature of the system’s hardware components.
  • Scan your system with an antivirus utility. Perhaps the initiator of the braking process is malicious code?

Finally

Well, now you know how to prevent a situation where your laptop becomes very slow. What to do and how to curb the OS is also no secret to you. However, not everything fits into the scope of the article. Much was left unsaid. However, nothing can stop you from delving deeper into optimization issues. And the CCleaner program mentioned above is fraught with many pleasant surprises. Remember: Windows is “stupid” for a reason; pay attention to the hardware configuration of your OS. Does the amount of RAM correspond to the software needs, is the processor weak? Think, analyze and draw only the right conclusions. Good luck!

How to clean your computer so it doesn't slow down

Hi all! Now I’ll try to write a bomb article about how to clean a computer or laptop so that it doesn’t slow down! In general, I will show everything that works on the Windows operating system using the example of Windows 7. An experienced user will be able to repeat all this on other operating systems.

This is complete manual cleaning. If you need to clean using a program, then the article about complete cleaning using a program is suitable for you.

1. Remove everything from startup

Why did I put this as the first point? Because the computer usually slows down due to a lack of RAM, but how can you do anything at all if it slows down? Therefore, the first thing we do is clean the startup.

Of course, the first reason may be the processor temperature, but in such problems it occurs in a maximum of 3%, so I’ll show you how to look at the temperature a little lower...

To clean your computer's startup, you can use special programs, but we will use standard tools, because... we just need to disable unnecessary programs from startup and standard means allow you to see standard services windows, which also need to be disabled to free up startup.

Press the key combination WIN+R or start - run. Or you can open the task manager and select the file - execute... But I usually just press WIN + R...

The Run command window appears. We write msconfig and click OK.

A window will open in which you need to go to the startup tab. Here we delete everything except system files and programs that are needed.

My system only has programs from the NVIDIA video card. In fact, they can be removed, but it’s better to leave them, because... these programs may have useful settings affecting the performance of the video card... I also highlighted the antivirus, I use Nod.

I need the rest of the programs. I have a lot of RAM - 16GB, and it’s fast too. This makes it difficult to score.

I only disabled Adobe update startup utility. Adobe works well for me and I don’t need updates... You yourself probably know that initiative is punishable, so as long as it works, let it work))) Otherwise, you update and problems will appear)

We try to disconnect clients as much as possible, asking what the client uses. Usually only Skype remains in startup. On the left, uncheck the boxes and click OK. We reboot the computer and after reboot it will work faster.

2. Disable non-standard unnecessary services.

The second thing that eats RAM terribly is services. They can be either useful or not.

Again we repeat the steps we performed above. Press Win+R, enter msconfig and go to the services tab. Click Don't show Microsoft services.

Here everything can be turned off and nothing will happen (only if the box is checked))) But for proper operation, everything does not need to be turned off. I usually disable all updates, everything related to the word update. Then all sorts of toolbars and program services that are not needed at startup. But after disconnecting and rebooting, you need to check it, because... Some programs will not work if you disable their service. After disconnecting, just click ok and you don’t have to reboot for now.

3. Disable standard unnecessary services.

Now let's disable standard services that take up a lot of RAM.

We will disable it in another window (where it is more convenient).

Click start and right-click on my computer (or on the desktop if there is an icon for my computer). Select controls.

Now everything will open windows services. I will show only a few, but to disable all unnecessary ones, you can read this article. I described all the services in great detail.

Now, which services should you disable? I warn you right away that when disabling these services, make sure that you have a good antivirus with a firewall. For me, the good ones are Kaspersky and Eset Nod. Nod does not slow down the computer, but Kaspersky still slows down, no matter what version it is. The free ones are AVG, Avira and 360 total security, but they do not have a firewall. Of course, there is a firewall in paid versions, but it’s better to buy Kaspersky or Node...

So... List of services:

Windows firewall

windows defender

Security Center

Center windows updates(automatic updates or windows update)

Again, I repeat, it is better if you have a good antivirus on your computer. And if you have any 1C databases, then it’s better not to disable anything at all! I always turn it off, but I always install a good antivirus.

Someone can argue about updates, but as far as I know they always do more harm than good... Microsoft always comes out with crooked patches. But at enterprises I would not recommend disabling it, because... These updates also contain patches for vulnerabilities.

So, what do we do... Right-click on the service and select the property:

Now click stop (if it is running) and the startup type is disabled. And Ok.

So we disable all unnecessary ones and you can restart the computer. It will work even faster.

4. Turn off unnecessary visual effects.

You may have encountered disabling visual effects, which also eat up RAM. It’s up to everyone to turn them off or not, and I don’t turn them off if good computer, but if you understand that there is little RAM in the computer or there is not enough of it, then you can disable several or all)

So, right-click on my computer (as in the picture above) and now select property.

Performance - parameters.

And now we turn off unnecessary effects. On weak machines I leave only shadows and transparency of icons on the desktop. If the PPC is weak at all, then I remove the shadows. Without shadows, the mouse and icons are difficult to read. Try turning it off and see how you like it.

Click ok and move on. You could also play around with the swap file, but I big difference did not see. I turned it off altogether, it takes up a lot of space, and I have a 128gb ssd. You can also disable recording errors in the system log and recording dumps, but these are also very important things, because From them you can understand why the blue screen appears.

5. Task Scheduler

From the name it is clear that this thing schedules tasks, but are these scheduled tasks necessary? That's right, not needed) Go to C:\windows\Tasks and delete everything. You can see that Google is nowhere to be found. I don’t really understand why there is so much of it, if it’s already updated when the browser is running... More like for collecting statistics...

Now nothing will be planned without your knowledge)))

6. System Restore

There is such a thing as system restore... It helped me very rarely... System restore can bring you back if you did something wrong. But I usually do everything correctly, so I disable this function. After all, it creates these restore points with each installation, thereby filling up space on the hard drive and RAM.

To disable it, right-click on my computer again - select the property - system protection (in other versions of operating systems, it may simply be called system recovery).

In the window that opens, click disable and delete all the points so that they do not take up much space. Next, click OK everywhere.

That's it, system restore is disabled.

7. Standard disk cleanup.

A useful thing that no program can replace. It can remove unnecessary system files.

It is located in... Start - all programs - standard - utility - disk cleanup.

Select the system drive and click OK.

It will take some time for the program to analyze the system and a window will appear in which it will be suggested what to delete. I usually check all the boxes except file compression, because... this process is very long and this process can only add disk space by compression, but it will not work faster. And access to archived files will be slower.

Also, by the way, if there is a button to clear system files, then press it, more items will appear that can be cleared.

When everything is selected, click OK. Now there will be even more space on the system disk, which again affects performance.

8. Temporary files.

Every time the operating system does something, it leaves behind temporary files and logs that it does not delete. Accordingly, disk space decreases and the system slows down, because It becomes more and more difficult to access the folder with temporary files.

To clean them, there is a safe program called CCleaner, you probably know. She does her job well.

There are 2 programs in the archive. They'll both come in handy. For now, let's launch CCleaner.

There are 2 useful buttons here. Analysis and Cleaning. During analysis, the program will show what it will delete and in what quantity. And the clear button will clear it all. On the left, select what you want to clean and click analyze. If everything is correct, then clean it. When you check the boxes you need, you won’t have to press the analysis button.

There is also an application tab, look carefully at the items in it. Otherwise, remove all passwords from your browsers, and then you will blame the program)))

That's it, this is how you can quickly clear temporary files.

9. Root directory of the system disk.

It is also important to see if there are any unnecessary files on the system drive.

Not hidden folders should be like this:

Program Files (x86)

Users

Everything else is custom folders, delete at your discretion.

Everything that is hidden is systemic and does not need to be touched.

I wrote everything that can be deleted in this article.

10. Hard drive crash

Now let's split the hard drive into 2, if you don't already have one. I won’t bother you with Acronis, I’ll show you how it’s done in Windows. Again, right-click on my computer - control.

On the left, go to disk management and right-click on the system disk - select shrink volume (if it gives an error, then the disk defragmentation service is disabled).

Now pay more attention. I was confused at first because it wasn't written in the best way!

The size of the compressed space, this is what volume it will be new disk, and not the one you are compressing.

If you are compressing drive C, then in my example, drive C will be 36477, and drive D will be 23895.

When you have selected everything, click compress. Next, unallocated space will appear. Right-click on it and select create simple volume. Next, click next - next, everything is according to the standard. A disk will be created in the file ntfs system and formatted.

11. Desktop optimization

A very big mistake people make is when they throw all their files onto their desktop.

There are 2 disadvantages to this:

  • The desktop is located on drive C, and what fewer files on the system disk, the easier it is for the operating system to work.
  • Icons on the desktop are constantly loading.

To avoid this, delete everything unnecessary from the desktop, and move heavy folders to drive D, which we created in step 10. If these folders are necessary on the desktop, then simply after moving, right-click on each folder and select send - desktop table (create shortcut). 12. Removal unnecessary programs

It’s not that unnecessary programs directly interfere, they can clog the registry, browsers and take up RAM while hanging in services. Therefore, you need to remove all programs that are not needed.

To prevent programs from leaving unnecessary traces, download the program below:

It's portable, so you don't have to install it. Just click next, next and select the folder where to unpack the program.

Let's launch... Initially the program is on English language, but there is also Russian. To do this, go to Options and select Russian from the list.

First, the program is uninstalled using the built-in uninstaller.

After uninstalling the program using the built-in uninstaller, the program will begin searching for remaining items.

But not all programs remain extra files. Let's say in the first program there were no unnecessary elements, and in the second there were only files. And sometimes a lot of registry keys remain redundant.

If there are extra files, look through them just in case. If they are really unnecessary, you click select all and delete.

That's all. Perform these operations on everyone unnecessary programs. 13. Cleaning the registry

Eat great program, which really brings the computer to life... Download:

There are 2 programs in the archive. These are CCleaner and Wise Registry Cleaner. We need a second one. Again, it does not require installation. Let's launch.

In this program you can put your registry in order. After launch, click scan.

After scanning, the program will show the errors found. Click clear.

And the last tab is registry compression, the most effective. Click analysis.

And after analysis, click compression. The computer will ask to reboot. Let's reboot.

This completes the registry cleaning.

14. Disk defragmentation.

This point is relevant if you do not have an SSD drive, because... at ssd disk The information is stored like on a flash drive and there is no spin-up disk.

And with a regular hard drive, information is read by spinning up the disk and reading the read head from it. Defragmentation at its level collects all the information close to each other, as a result of which the reading head begins to get to the information faster and wears out less. Therefore, this procedure is very important for a regular disk.

The program is again portable in Russian. Download.

Let's launch. As I said, defragmentation is not necessary for SSDs, and in general it is harmful! An SSD has a resource and it is not advisable to move files on it many times. But this program does not just defragment the SSD, but rather optimize it; no movements occur. Therefore, if you have an SSD, select it with a checkmark on the left and click next to the defragmentation button on the triangle and select Optimize SSD.

SSD optimization will begin

This program also has a function for defragmenting individual files.

And very comfortable SMART disk. What is this I wrote in this article.

Defragmenting a regular disk occurs in almost the same way. Select with a tick on the side regular disk and press the defragmentation button itself.

After defragmentation, the following message will appear in the status field: Defragmentation completed.

15. Iron factors affecting slow computer operation:

If the temperature is higher than normal, the processor begins to slow down so as not to burn out and the computer begins to slow down. The reason may be a weak cooling system and dried out thermal paste (it is also possible that you have never cleaned it). I wrote a separate article about this. Therefore, I will not repeat this, the article is called how to check the processor temperature.

  • High video card temperature

If the temperature of the video card is higher than normal, then the computer may not only slow down, it may even reboot. In general, there was a case with me when a client brought a system unit, we turned on the system unit and I saw smoke coming from the video card, and when I ran to unplug the system unit from the outlet, a fire started! Horror! I also wrote about this in the article on how to find out the temperature of a video card.

  • Bad sectors on the hard drive

Another reason for a slow computer is a broken hard drive. The data simply cannot be read from the hard drive and, in the best case, the computer slows down, and in the worst case, the operating system refuses to boot at all. I wrote how to check a hard drive for bad sectors here, and check the response of the hard drive here.

  • RAM errors

Computer brakes are very rare in this case. Usually a blue screen appears, but this can still happen. How to check RAM, I wrote here.

16. System evaluation

Perhaps your computer is not balanced... It’s like if you pump one arm, it won’t grow, but if you pump all the muscles together, you can achieve good results. So... It’s the same on the computer.

To see whether your computer is balanced or not, right-click on my computer and select property.

If you have never evaluated your computer, you will see the message System evaluation is unavailable. Or the system will automatically evaluate it. Then we move on to the Windows Performance Index.

As you can see, everything is balanced for me, only the processor shows a lower rating, but at that time I was buying the latest i7... It’s not logical to buy extreme, they cost a lot... Just in case, click repeat rating, bottom right. Once the iron analysis is complete, see if there is a big difference in the scores. If there is, then this is a reason to think about upgrading this element.

And by the way, I noticed that after evaluating the system, the computer began to work a little faster. 17. Load widget (for versions windows home extended and higher)

And finally, a bonus... In order to constantly monitor the computer’s workload and know when it’s busy and when it’s frozen, we’ll install a widget...

Right-click on the desktop and select gadgets:

Now an indicator of CPU and RAM load will be displayed on the desktop...

At the time I took the screenshot, the processor load was 0.2% and the RAM load was 47%. If these arrows enter the red zone, you know that the computer is not frozen, but is busy with some processes. And in this case, you need to think about either an upgrade, or you have opened a large number of programs, or the programs are too heavy.

That's all. These are all the methods that I remembered that will help make sure that the computer, or laptop, does not slow down.

Cleaning your laptop to speed up your work

Over time, the system becomes full of garbage that slows down the operation of the laptop: unnecessary programs, temporary files, registry entries. You can clean the system and speed up its operation using built-in tools or special software.

How to clean the system

The main thing in cleaning your laptop from debris is regularity. If you have never tried to clean the system, then so much unnecessary data will accumulate in it that you can forget about normal operation. Many users immediately begin to think that the hardware no longer holds up, and they need new laptop or at least complete reinstallation systems.

Reinstalling will solve the problem, there will be no garbage left, but you can speed up the system in a less radical way, which does not involve deleting user data from the laptop. Even cleaning with built-in tools will have a huge positive effect. But in order not to forget anything, let’s create a clear sequence:

  1. Cleaning the desktop. Remove unnecessary files and shortcuts to unused programs.
  2. Checking documents, including downloaded torrents. Typical situation– I downloaded the season of the series, watched it, and left it as dead weight on the disk. Delete - the more space, the faster the system works.
  3. Uninstall unused programs.
  4. Cleaning the disk from temporary files.
  5. Cleaning the registry using CCleaner.
  6. Checking the startup list.

If the file is not deleted, use Unlocker utility. It independently unloads from memory the processes that are occupied by the file, helping to quickly clean the system of data that, when deleted, gives the error “Unable to delete. The file is being used by another program."

Uninstalling programs

Try to ensure that only valid required applications. It is better to clean the system of software “garbage” in order to free up space and slightly increase performance. There are several ways to remove a program:

  1. Through the “Uninstall a program” applet in the control panel.
  2. By using own file uninstall Uninstall.exe.
  3. Using the capabilities of the Revo Uninstaller utility (there is a free version).

The third option is preferable, because Revo Uninstaller removes the program completely, including erasing entries in the system registry. After a standard uninstallation, traces remain that are not beneficial to the system.

After uninstallation, Revo Uninstaller will offer to clean the system of remaining debris. Select a mode and click "Scan".

The program will show the remaining files and folders. Select them and click "Delete".

With advanced scanning, you can erase entries in the registry, so that the application will be destroyed without a trace.

Deleting temporary files

A lot of temporary files accumulate in the system, clogging up memory, which need to be gotten rid of.

The same operation can be performed using a free cleaning CCleaner utilities:

Deleting temporary files will empty the Recycle Bin, so make sure there is nothing useful in it before you start cleaning your system. Additionally, you can clean up system files:

Another list of data that can be deleted will be generated. Among them will be old updates, which sometimes take up a lot of space on your hard drive. After generating the list, click “Ok” to clear it.

Cleaning the registry

It also accumulates in the system registry great amount garbage - records of programs that were deleted long ago. If you uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller, then there will be no entries left, but it won’t hurt to clean the registry in any case - there are still incorrect extensions or incorrect firewall rules. Manual deletion is out of the question: it is too time-consuming and dangerous - you can erase the wrong entry and get errors in the system. The registry should be cleaned using CCleaner:

If you have never performed such a procedure before, you will immediately notice that the system has become faster and more stable.

Setting up autorun

To speed up your laptop boot time, you need to clear the startup list. It adds programs that are loaded along with Windows. The more applications there are, the longer it takes to launch them. To clear the startup list of garbage:

IN standard list Autorun can only disable programs, but you cannot delete them. If you want to literally clean your startup of junk to speed up your system, use CCleaner.

Since you have opened the “Tools” tab in CCleaner, use another convenient laptop cleaning function – duplicate search. Everything is simple here: run a search, look at the result, select which version of the file you should get rid of (usually they are completely identical and created at the same time), and click “Delete selected”.

After cleaning your laptop of debris this way, you will notice a serious increase in system performance. The main thing is not to let all the work go down the drain due to irregular cleaning. But you shouldn’t delete temporary files and clean the registry too often: it’s enough to clean the system 1-2 times a month.

How to clean your computer so it doesn’t slow down: Using programs and manually

The question of how to clean a computer so that it doesn’t slow down often arises for the average user of a device more than 2–3 years old.

There are quite a few reasons for the slowdown of a PC and laptop, and in order to get rid of them, you will have to use a number of techniques - not too complicated and not time-consuming.

For an experienced specialist To check and restore the normal speed of the system, 10–20 minutes are enough (in rare cases, depending on the speed of the antivirus on the old PC and the volume of the hard drive clogged with information, up to 30–60 minutes).

But even regular user it won't take all the work more than an hour.

As a result, you will get a fairly fast working computer for free and without wasting time on contacting the service.

Or make sure that it is impossible to slow down the work (game) process using this device configuration and the selected program (game).

An assessment of the reasons for the slowdown of the computer for its subsequent cleaning can be carried out using the WhySoSlow program specially designed for this purpose, the name of which is translated from English - “Why so slow?”

Its reports allow you to identify the main problems and get advice on how to eliminate them. True, there is no Russian-language version yet, but the program can be downloaded from the manufacturer’s website completely free of charge.

By opening the main application window, you can see the features of your operating system and computer with an assessment of their condition. Green mark means that this parameter has a normal value and does not affect the performance of the system.

A gray check mark next to the selected item indicates possible problem. The exclamation point accurately indicates that the system has slowed down, most likely because of this component.

Working window of the WhySoSlow program.

The application monitors the load, speed and temperature of the processor, comparing them with standard indicators and warning about exceeding acceptable limits.

For example, WhySoSlow will report overheating faster than fan noise or slow computer operation. This means that the problem can be prevented before it interferes with the user. The parameters of memory, operating system kernel and hard drive are also visible here.

The startup list is one of the first places to look for applications that are slowing down your computer.

Often there are even viral and malicious programs such as the Chinese Tencent browser virus or the Mail Ru Updater process that loads unnecessary information into the system.

In the window that opens, you can see all the applications that launch automatically - opposite them in the list there are checkboxes, by removing which you can relieve the operating system a little.

Basic rules when choosing applications that should launch simultaneously with Windows loading:

  1. It is worth leaving the antivirus on the list. By at least, one of them that will be the main one on the computer. Running two antivirus programs at the same time is undesirable, as is having several such applications on your computer at once;
  2. Applications to speed up the system most often make it run slower, especially on older computers;
  3. Auto-starting torrent clients and messaging programs can slow down the speed of a less powerful PC or laptop. It is best to include them only in cases where they are truly necessary;
  4. Applications whose names are unknown to the user, and, moreover, are unreadable abbreviations, are most likely viral and should be disabled.
back to menu

Action virus program, regardless of its purpose (stealing user data, ensuring transition to certain sites, or simply harming the system), significantly reduce the speed of the system.

At the same time, the work of the virus is usually invisible - except for some applications that display messages on the screen about blocking the computer, or install additional software at the same time.

Problem caused by a virus.

A common sign of a virus is slow, more than 2-3 minutes, system boot and the presence of startup or running processes in the list (caused by launching the “Task Manager” with the Ctrl, Alt and Del keys) unnecessary applications.

And in order to get rid of them, you should:

  • Launch the antivirus, enabling full scan mode. Depending on the type of program and the power of the computer, this will take from 20 minutes to 1–2 hours. Curelt Antivirus can check the system for up to 8 hours. However, in the process of their work, you can use other methods to increase speed;
  • Uncheck suspicious programs in startup and remove such applications from the list of installed ones in the “Programs and Applications” menu (for older Windows - in “Add or Remove Programs”).

And best of all, to prevent viruses from entering your computer:

  • Use only high quality antivirus software. It is best to be paid, or in extreme cases, freely distributed - but not “shareware”, most of the functions of which are blocked until you purchase a licensed version;
  • Try not to visit suspicious sites, especially those whose dangers are warned by your antivirus.

Do not download installation files of programs and games from unofficial sources. Especially if the list, for example, of downloaded torrents, contains archives where viruses are most often hidden.

Return to menu

Another reason for disruption of the normal operation of the system is inappropriate drivers that differ from the official ones intended for a specific peripheral device or even the motherboard as a whole.

This happens mainly when installing a manager software not from official sites, and most often concerns graphic, network and sound cards.

Driver problems.

You can detect the problem in the “Device Manager”, which opens from the “Computer” or “Start” menu. A missing or malfunctioning driver is marked with a yellow triangle.

And the problem itself is reported in the properties window of this device in the form of messages like “the device is not working properly” or “the device has been stopped.” In the same menu you can update the drivers or install them again.

You should download them from the official pages of the manufacturers. In addition, determine which program should replace the already installed driver, the AIDA64 application will help.

Return to menu

A common problem that affects the speed of startup or operation of a program is that it is clogged with data or simply corrupted. HDD.

First of all, the problem occurs if the system is filled with information HDD partition(most often - C), which is shown by its red color.

Crowded hard section disk.

Attempting to restore HDD

If the reason for the system or program freezing is a malfunctioning disk, which can be noticed by the sound of its operation being too loud and the mouse pointer stopping right while using the computer, you can fix the problem using special programs such as MHDD or HDAT2.

They help correct the so-called bad sectors.

Restoring your hard drive using the MHDD program.

If such restoration does not help, you should contact a specialist. In this case, it is recommended to warn the repairman about the need not only to restore the HDD’s functionality, but also to save important information such as documents or personal photos.

If the disk cannot be repaired, you will have to purchase a new device.

Disk Cleanup

For normal system speed, it is desirable that at least 3–5 GB remain free on the system disk. Experts recommend keeping an empty space in this section that is at least 2 times the size of the RAM.

Saving space by disabling the paging file is not recommended - it is best to clean up the disk, for which you will need:

  1. Go to the “Computer” menu;
  2. Right-click on the name of the system disk and open its properties;
  3. Uncheck the box “Compress disk to save space”;
  4. Click the “Disk Cleanup” button;
  5. Select the files that need to be deleted in the list that appears and confirm the cleaning.

Cleaning the system disk.

In most cases, as a result of cleaning in system partition The hard drive is freed from 500 MB to 2–3 GB. And, since this part of the HDD is usually small, in the range of 30–40 GB, saving space will be useful and will help increase the speed of work.

Return to menu

Application incompatibility is not expressed in a permanent system freeze, but only in a temporary slowdown during startup specific program. An example of a problem is the operation of two or more antivirus programs simultaneously.

This should not be allowed - especially if the computer is not powerful enough, and the antivirus, on the contrary, is resource-demanding (for example, Kaspersky Internet Security 2016 alone requires 1–2 GB of RAM to run).

Two antivirus programs running on the same computer.

When it comes to browsers, for example, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox, the cause of the system freezing and braking may be one of the incorrect installed plugins.

Sometimes they can be installed by malware (viruses) to control Internet access.

By checking the list of plugins and extensions and removing unnecessary ones (which were not installed by the user and often lead to slower browsing), they eliminate one of the most common problems when using browsers.

Entering the extension management menu in Chrome.

When braking some specific program or games, the reasons for freezing can be different:

  • Incompatibility of the application with the equipment;
  • Lack of drivers;
  • CPU overheating.

However, even if the specific reason for the slow operation of the application could not be identified and eliminated, and in general the system is working normally, the problem is usually solved by using another program.

Moreover, most of them have analogues that are less resource-intensive and suitable for certain operating systems.

Return to menu

An overheating processor often causes laptops to slow down, but can also affect the speed of a desktop system. As a result of overheating, games that were previously working normally stop starting.

In some cases, the computer may even turn off some time after it starts working.

Important! The reason for overheating is most often simple - lack of air exchange inside the device.

This occurs as a result of the following factors:

  • Clogged or blocked vents. This is especially important for laptops whose ventilation is carried out through the bottom. To prevent the openings from being blocked, use a special stand. On a stationary PC, the air inlet and outlet slots should be periodically cleaned;
  • Problems with the power supply or processor fan. Sometimes lubrication of the rotor to which the blades are attached helps, in other cases - a complete replacement;
  • Thermal paste has expired or there is insufficient quantity. The problem is eliminated by applying a new layer of paste to the central or graphics processor.

You can determine that the cause of your computer freezing and slowing down is overheating using special programs - for example, AIDA64.

The processor temperature is also visible in the BIOS, the menu of which can be entered when the computer boots (by pressing Del, F1, F2 or F10, depending on the version and brand of the manufacturer).

Its standard value is 20–40 degrees. For Athlon processors Heating up to 60–80 degrees is allowed.

An additional sign of fan problems is an increase in noise level compared to normal.

In this case, it is best to clean it as quickly as possible, before the malfunction affects not only the speed of the computer, but also the condition individual elements systems.

High CPU temperature.

Regardless of the reason, the computer will most likely have to be disassembled. If there is a warranty, you should contact the service that services this model of PC or laptop.

After the end of the warranty period, all the work can be done independently - unless, of course, the computer is not working and does not belong to the organization. In this case, its maintenance is carried out by a specialist or an entire service.

Cleaning the Hardware

It is worth carrying out periodic mechanical cleaning of computer components at least once every 1–2 years and when the system freezes or high level noise during operation.

Dust should be removed only in those places that can be reached, and to improve the quality of work, it is advisable to use a special brush and a vacuum cleaner - either a car or a regular one, but with the nozzles removed and the “wet cleaning” mode turned off.

The main stages of cleaning a desktop PC:

  1. Removing the cover of the system unit and removing all cords (connections to the monitor, to the power supply and peripheral devices);
  2. Disconnecting the power supply from all computer components (motherboard, floppy drives, hard drives);
  3. Laying the block on its side for a more convenient procedure;
  4. Alternately sweeping away dust with a brush and sucking it up with a vacuum cleaner;
  5. Disassembling the power supply (in case of problems with its fan) and cleaning it from dust using the same method;
  6. Reassembly and connection of all elements and cables.

In most cases, the cleaning process, details of which can be found online in the form of illustrated instructions and even a video, helps to increase the speed of the computer.

And, even if the system does not slow down and there is no decrease in speed, but the fans are noisier than before, the inside of the system unit should still be cleaned from time to time.

The process of cleaning dust from a stationary PC.

If you need to clean your laptop from dust, you can face a lot of problems. Some models make it possible to remove dust relatively simply - just by removing the cover from the bottom and sweeping it away in the same way and removing it with a vacuum cleaner.

But, if disassembling a laptop PC is difficult for an inexperienced user, it is recommended to seek the help of a specialist.

Moreover, laptop parts are located more compactly and to completely clean them from dust, the computer may need to be completely disassembled.

All people who have a computer are faced with a problem, the essence of which is the PC “freezes” and “logs”. To prevent this from happening, you should regularly clean your computer of unnecessary file elements.

Why clean up?

Filling up computer memory is a problem that almost every person who has a PC faces, and it doesn’t matter whether it’s at home or at work. And the main question in this matter is how to clean unnecessary files on your computer without harming its software.

PC memory begins to fill up too quickly when the user very often installs and then removes programs from his personal computer. A full hard drive system causes the entire PC to slow down, various software to open slowly, and games to have a sluggish interface.

It is also a signal that hard memory PC disk is full, a constantly pop-up window will appear with a message stating that the memory is full and you need to free up space on the system disk. If this window repeatedly pops up for you, then you should start quickly taking steps to clear up free space on your existing personal computer.

The positive aspects of getting rid of unnecessary file elements:

  1. increasing the free memory of a personal computer;
  2. all kinds of programs will open twice as fast;
  3. turning your PC on and off will take just a few seconds;
  4. PC operation will speed up significantly;
  5. The risk of errors in operation on the system disk is reduced.

Removing unused programs

On every computer, there are software that are never used at all. And they are the ones who fill the space in memory. And along with the memory filling, problems begin to appear, problems with the operation of your PC.

If you delete a program manually, then after a while the PC memory will inevitably fill up. Since when you uninstall software, you only remove part of electronic documents, of which it consists. After its removal, most of these file elements remain.

To remove the software you will need to take the following steps:

Temporary files

Temporary files– these are electronic documents that are created during the installation of various programs, as well as during their operation.

In general, these file elements should be created temporarily and deleted automatically after the program is uninstalled. But it doesn't always happen this way. And often the opposite is true. Therefore, it is recommended to regularly clean your Personal Computer from unnecessary files.

You need to delete temporary file elements:

Many programs can clean a personal computer, for example, TuneUp Utilities, CCleaner, nCleaner second, Glary Utilities, AusLogics BoostSpeed Revo Uninstaller Advanced System Care Pro. But the undoubted leader among all existing programs is Ccleaner, and the number of its downloads has long exceeded a thousand.

Personal files

But the memory on computers is filled not only with temporary or residual files, but also personal files. Almost all programmers recommend storing personal files not on the system drive (C), but on the personal drive (D). Or even create compressed archives, and store your personal files in them.
Knowledgeable people also recommend storing various videos, films and music on external media(for example, on a flash drive or CD).

After all, it is by using this method storing your personal files, you can protect your personal computer from completely filling up the memory, both on the system disk and on the personal disk, and this leads to slow operation of the PC.
