Cutting map - is a documentation that displays which parts need to be cut from a sheet of chipboard. But, in fact, you can cut not only chipboard, but also any sheet material.

Using nesting, you can see how parts can be laid out on a sheet. The card also contains information about the residues that will result from cutting.

Ultimately, the advantage of cutting is to display the amount of material that will be needed to create the furniture.

You can cut chipboard at the company where you will buy the materials, but our task is to create cabinet furniture at home while minimizing costs, and it will not be difficult to create it yourself, even for a beginner.

To create the map we will use the Cutting 2 program (cutting). You can download it for free at the end of the lesson.

The program interface looks like this:

In the “Materials” field, you need to set the parameters of the chipboard sheet or, if you have leftovers that you plan to cut, then the size of the leftovers. As for the size of chipboard, I use sheets from the Swisspan manufacturer, the dimensions of which are 2750 * 1830 mm (for large sheets) and 2440 * 1830 mm (for small ones).

Also note that in the chipboard sheet settings you need to set the “Sheet sawing” values, since the sheets are initially chipped.

If you plan to glue a PVC edge, or want to calculate how much paper edge is needed for gluing, then you can also set it in “Properties”.

For convenience, it is possible to choose the color of the edge. This feature will make your work easier when using more than 1 type of edge. For example: 2mm and 0.6mm or use several colors.

After setting up all the parts, press the “Cut” button or F9.

We see that the cutting was unsuccessful. To solve the problem, you can try to cut it again or rearrange the parts yourself. Click on the part and drag it to the desired location. There is also an option to lay everything out by dragging it into the “not placed” parts and arrange it yourself as needed.

Important! When making the cutting yourself, make sure that there is room for the cut, since you can do everything “optimally” with a snake cut line. After which no one will want to cut them.

Hello, friends.

In this article we will talk about one practical side of furniture making.

Having designed any furniture, you receive its details, or a list of all the parts necessary for its assembly.

And the next step will be to purchase chipboard sheets and cut them into these same parts you designed.

Here you may have two options:

Or you take your detailing to where you will get the chipboard (and this is basically the same place where you will buy it), and according to your detailing, they will make and cut sheets of material into the required parts.

Or you will initially make a scheme according to which the sheet material will be processed.

Cutting cards are the diagram for cutting a sheet (for example, the same chipboard) into the required parts.

Any such map always shows the presence of residues of the material used.

The same parts can be laid out on a sheet so that in one case, the size of the remains will be large, and in another case, smaller.

Of course, you always need large leftovers, since you can still make something out of them.

Therefore, if someone does this documentation for you, the size of your balances depends only on him.

And if you do it yourself, then you arrange the parts in such a way as to get the largest possible remnants.

Of course, no one does this manually, as it is very labor-intensive.

For these purposes, very good programs.

But, we will consider a simpler option: One initial sheet of chipboard, and detailing for it.

Before calculating the parts, you can specify a cut at the ends in the source sheet (in in this case, 7 millimeters each).

After that, by clicking on the “calculator” icon, the program will automatically lay out the parts on the given sheet.

As you can see in the figure, even if some parts did not fit into the sheet, they can be seen in the window below.

In this window, you can change the location of any parts at your discretion and rotate them around an axis (unless, of course, this function is blocked in the properties specified in the part settings). In a word, do everything to get the largest possible balances.

When the details are laid out as needed, you can click to view this sheet.

In this mode, the layout of all the parts, the total length of the cut, the area of the parts and residues, in a word, all the necessary information, is shown.

After that, by clicking on the corresponding icon, all sheets with cutting, as well as a list of all parts, can be printed on a printer.

This will be your cutting card (it also marks the gluing of furniture edges, and sketches of non-standard (curvilinear, etc.) parts).

Thus, as you can see, it is quite easy to make a diagram for cutting sheets yourself.

I believe that the most ordinary furniture maker should be able to do this, since all this, in a sense, speaks about the level of his qualifications.

Well, I’ll wrap this up, see you later.

This article is the logical conclusion of a series of articles about independent design and calculation of furniture for the home.

Here I will talk about how to do economical cutting at home, point out all sorts of nuances and possible pitfalls that you should be prepared for when deciding to order chipboard cutting in furniture production.

FAQ or Frequently Asked Questions

1 - Why do the cutting yourself?– First of all, independent cutting of parts in chipboard sheet- this is your savings.

The fact is that most furniture companies that cut chipboards sell slabs individually. That is, if the pieces you need don't fit on a sheet of chipboard, and even one piece ends up on the second board, you have to pay for two full sheets of chipboard.

Agree, it is not very profitable to pay for two slabs, if in fact it turns out that only a sheet of chipboard and a couple of small parts are spent on a wardrobe or kitchen.

That is why it is better to make the cutting yourself at home, according to which you can order the cut in a furniture shop.

2 - What to do if, after cutting the chipboard, you still end up with a large remainder?– It’s simple – take a fresh look at your apartment and house. Perhaps you could use a small coffee table or need some bookshelves.

Use the remainder rationally, think of several new decorative and functional elements for the interior and add them to your cutting.

Thus, the purchase of chipboard parts will turn from obviously unprofitable into very economical and thoughtful.

3 - What is the structure of laminated chipboard? How to understand the expression of furniture makers - according to structure or against structure?– Pay attention to the colors of the laminated chipboard, if it has a tree-like pattern, then it has a schematic representation of this very “structure”, namely the structure of the tree bark, imitating one or another species (beech, ash, pine, oak, alder, cherry and others.)

Agree, furniture facades look rather stupid, on which the pattern (structure) is scattered - on one along, on the second across, then along again.

Therefore, before ordering laminated chipboard from production, you must have on hand a list of parts written according to certain rules and sequence.

So, pay attention to what a laminated chipboard with a pattern looks like.

We see that the structure runs along the long side. And, if the parts lie parallel to the depicted fibers, furniture makers will call such a part “according to the structure,” but if perpendicular, then “against the structure.”

4 - How to correctly indicate the dimensions in the list so that parts of the same type have the same structure pattern?– The first and most important thing is to decide visible elements, on which the structure must be located in the same direction.

For example, facades, cabinet sides, front plinth. But those parts that are located inside the cabinet (internal shelves, sides of drawers, etc.) can be cut randomly from a sheet of chipboard.

When specifying dimensions for a furniture workshop, it is better to clarify in advance where you plan to cut laminated chipboard and what size of the part to indicate first.

In most furniture companies, the first to indicate the size of the part is that it follows the structure, that is, along the pattern.

Now carefully look at the schematic sketch below - on it I tried to depict as clearly as possible what the parts will look like with the dimensions indicated by the structure and against the structure.

5 - What is the base of a chipboard sheet? Why, when cutting chipboard parts yourself, should you indicate the size of the board smaller than the actual one? – Indeed, knowing the standard dimensions of a laminated chipboard sheet, when creating a cutting, you need to take into account the base of the sheet, which will definitely be done in the workshop before cutting the parts.

Typically, the edges of the slab contain some chips, unevenness, and perhaps even slight swelling. Therefore, sawmills “base the chipboard sheet” - cut off 10-15 mm on each side. Based on this, you must also base it, that is, take it as the correct size, for example, not 1830 x 2750 mm, but 1810 x 2730 mm.

6 - What is the width of the cut and what is it equal to?- The kerf width is the width of the saw cut. The saw installed on the sawing machine has a thickness of 4 mm, which means that between the parts there will be a cut with a thickness of these same 4 mm.

That is, the actual size on which two parts 300 and 400 mm will be located is not 700 mm, but 300 + 400 + 4 = 704 mm. Each cut must also be taken into account when cutting.

Well, that's all, now you are prepared to proceed directly to cutting out the laminated chipboard parts yourself, which can be done in two ways - manually, using a ruler, piece of paper, eraser, calculator and using a computer offline or online programs cutting

Manual cutting of chipboard parts: Step-by-step instructions

1 Draw the dimensions of the slab on a piece of paper, preferably to scale. Don't forget to reduce it by 10mm on each side.

2 Sort the list by similarity of required parts. For example, the sides of kitchen cabinets have the same dimensions - 500 x 712 mm.

There are quite a lot of them, write down all such details separately. Continue sorting using the same principle: same width, same structure, and so on.

3 Lay out on a sheet of chipboard first the large parts and those that should have a similar structure. Don't forget about the width of the saw - 4 mm! This is where a calculator will definitely come in handy.

4 Place the remaining parts. You can work through several options until you get the one that is ideal, most economical and profitable.

Cutting parts in a sheet of chipboard using online and offline computer programs

On the Internet, in the public domain, there are many chipboard cutting programs that offer several cutting options at once.

You can search for such programs on specialized furniture forums or simply by entering the request into any search engine: “Free chipboard cutting program.”

The search will return three main options:

1 Download the cutting program to your computer - the most common and most convenient program for beginners cutting laminated chipboard- Cutting. A simple interface, clear layout and many options for cutting sheets.

2 Create chipboard cutting online - here you won’t need to load your PC with programs that may not be useful in the future.

3 Cutting and ordering chipboard cutting online on the furniture company’s website is an ideal option if the production workshop is geographically convenient for you.

In this way, you will “kill two, or maybe more, birds with one stone” - you will select chipboard on the website, which is available in the required quantity, make economical cutting, see the cost and immediately, sitting at home, order chipboard cutting in a furniture shop.

I will repeat the important points again...

Basic rules for cutting chipboard

  • The size of the laminated chipboard sheet must be entered taking into account the base of the slab.
  • Saw cutting width – 4 mm.
  • Parts must be included in the cutting taking into account the structure.

If you still have questions, ask them right here, under the article. I will try to answer promptly.

Also, if there are current furniture topics that you would like to read about, write about them in the comments. Perhaps this is what will serve as the impetus for writing the next article.

Always yours, Timur Denisov.

Opening 6.54.121 – interesting and required program with the ability to create cutting maps for various industrial materials. For example, cutting chipboard, glass, plastic, rolled materials and sheets.

The main features of the program:
  • Work in the application begins with the introduction of the concept of “Order”. It is believed that this is a complex of parts with given parameters of height and width. The parts are given a rectangular shape.
  • You can specify the required number of parts in your order. In this case, the program will display the optimal number of sheets that need to be purchased.
  • It is possible to view the history of orders, change an already completed one, or repeat it with new parameters.
  • For each individual element it is possible to set a symbolic name, the number of these elements and the presence/absence of an edge (in particular, in the production of furniture panels).
  • Along with standard sheets, it is possible to enter additional sheets and cut them next to the main ones.
  • You can specify the amount of “business waste” for subsequent use. This is possible under conditions of large, mass production.
  • You can specify the amount of technological waste, for example, the consumption of material for cutting.
  • When making payments, it is possible to combine different orders from the same material. This way you can save on cutting costs.
  • The free cutting program allows you to work with two types of edges.
  • The cut is made using the guillotine method, that is, from edge to edge. All cuts are smooth, strictly vertical or horizontal.
  • There are two cutting methods in the program: minimizing total waste (maximum material utilization rate) and maximizing continuous trimming (minimum waste plus maximum business trimming).
  • When cutting material in a roll, the program can automatically select an option for placing elements on the tape. All parts will be rectangular and of unknown height.
  • It is possible to use the cutting program in network mode.
  • There is no language barrier, since the program was released in Russian.
  • The interface is simple, in calm colors, like any other graphics program.
  • Operating systems for which the program is suitable: WindowsXP, WindowsVista, Windows7.

The program for cutting sheet and roll material is used on various technical and industrial production, plants, factories, as well as small enterprises. In domestic conditions, using this program, you can make calculations for building a garden or bathhouse, renovating the interior or cladding a house. First I used Cutting 2, then Cutting 3. They differ quite a lot. But I liked the Cutting 2 version better. The third version has additional features, which by and large are not really needed for small-scale production. Cutting 2 still helps me in preliminary calculation of the amount of material and the length of cutting lines for large orders, such as kitchens. To create the final cutting map, I use the Nowy Rozkrój program (Cut Optimiser or New Cut Manager) from the creators of the PRO100 program. . Both sites can be switched to Russian and read the description of the programs. Now I will describe the simple process of creating cutting cards. .

We open any project we created in PRO100. Click on the Σ tab.

The window that opens will display a table in which all elements of the project with their characteristics will be indicated. At the bottom of the window we find the Copy all tab.

We click on it. Now we can insert a table with our elements into the list of parts in Cutting 2. But we only need elements of the base material, let’s say laminated chipboard with a thickness of 18 mm. Therefore, open Excel and insert the list of PRO100 elements. Now we select those lines in which the elements are not 18 mm and delete them. As a result, what remains is a table consisting of 4 columns, in one of which there is only the number 18 in all cells. Select and delete this column. Select and copy the remaining elements. Launch the Cutting 2 program. Parts table on the right.

If it is not empty, click on the X icon above the right table and confirm clearing the list. Now right-click on the first empty cell of the list and in the drop-down menu select the line Add from clipboard.

Click on the Run calculation icon.

The cutting map is ready. Can be printed and used. But I encountered some inconveniences. For example, the numbers are too small, the cutting lines are not clear enough.

The people who cut the material for me were unhappy with the need to use magnifying glass. But for the preliminary calculation of the cost of the product, the program was ideal due to the transfer of parts from PRO100 to Cutting 2 described above.

The Nowy Rozkroj program is a better optimizer.

But all part dimensions must be entered manually.

The program calculates several cutting options at once.

Depending on what is important to you, you choose your option. The option with a shorter total length of cutting lines is more suitable for me, while others need an option with fewer scraps (junk).

First, in the settings, I specify the cutting option without stripes,

which allows you to place more parts. After the first cutting attempt I can see how much free space remains on the last sheet. If more than 30% is not occupied by details, then in the program parameters I indicate the horizontal cutting option

and start the final calculation. The remaining horizontal stripe The seller keeps the popular colors of the material, which reduces the cost of furniture. The cutting maps created by the Nowy Rozkroj program are quite detailed and clear, the dimensions are displayed perfectly.

The cutting result may be different. For example, you made the optimal cutting with the option without a strip, and you ended up with 3 sheets and 3 parts. This is especially important if the seller does not sell this color of material in stripes, but only in sheets. In this case, use the following option:

When adding each part, uncheck the Part Properties table in the Structure position.

Then, looking at your design, go through the detailing and note the structure in the details, the structure on which can only be consistent with the design, i.e. other structure options on these parts are not acceptable. If this method does not help, then reduce the size of hidden parts, such as plinths and connecting strips, by 10 mm or more. But don't overdo it.

There is another important advantage of this program. If you mark an edge on any side of the part, then it will not move from this side to the other when the part is rotated by the optimizer, which can happen in other programs. If the end edge is made of paper, the dimensions of the parts remain the same as in the project, but if the PVC edge is 1-2 mm thick, then do not forget to subtract the thickness of the edge from the size of the adjacent side with the one being pasted.

An example of drawing up cutting maps

Do not pay attention to the beginning of the video until the Nowy Rozkrój program starts. And then everything is on topic. A small technical hitch.

If your sheet, for example, is 2800 by 2070, and the side trim is 10 mm, forgetting that you need 4 mm for the cut, you indicate the part size 2790 by 600 with an edge of 2790. As a result, the edge slides by 600. Pay attention to this is attention. One day I didn’t check the card and gave it to work. Firstly, the guys had a hard time gluing the edge to the 600 side, because... the part rested against the workshop door, we had to move the machine. No one thought that a distance from the machine to the wall of 2.5 m could ever be insufficient. And secondly, I had to pay to have the edge glued on the long side, and at that moment I didn’t count on that. Therefore, be careful.

To cut chipboard, it is recommended to turn your attention to the Astra Cutting utility and download it. This is an excellent application that does a great job with all its features and options. At the same time, the program differs from the service and office applications. If you download Astra Cutting for free, you should know that the software is designed to work in companies engaged in the manufacture of custom-made furniture. For medium and small enterprises, free software for cutting chipboard will be indispensable.

The question may well arise: why do you need to download a program for cutting chipboard, because cutting sheets for decorative building structures yourself is not very difficult, the main thing is to have certain skills in this work. In principle, there is a certain meaning here, but only in the case of one-time work. However, professional users who work with such materials constantly free utility Astra Cutting will be simply necessary.

To the number functional features This application refers to the fact that the software for cutting chipboard allows you to work with an entire order, in which there are many products, which, in turn, consist of a certain number details. If you download the program for free, you can maintain your own library of spare parts, products and parts. This function will be very useful for all users, especially if buyers choose to order standard parts consisting of standard spare parts. In addition, it becomes possible to maintain a warehouse of materials end-to-end, in which case the sheets of chipboard remaining after work are sent to the warehouse to fulfill the next order.

Excellent chipboard cutting program free download Astra Cutting

You just need to download the Astra Raskroy program for chipboard cutting for free to generate all the necessary cutting maps in automatic mode. Naturally, the program takes into account all the organizational and technological parameters of the order, for example, the minimum distance between saws, type of cutting, accounting for through materials, trimming the edge of the sheet, cutting width and much more. If necessary, users can easily make certain adjustments, because for this there is a special chipboard cutting map editor.

Another positive quality this application is that Astra Cutting can be used to calculate and analyze the production of edges of a material, regardless of its nature. Accordingly, if you download the software, you can receive all the information regarding the production of furniture, cutting or grinding glass, as well as cutting edges for subsequent welding.

When creating an order for cutting, you can enter parts manually or import data from another program.

An essential feature of specifying the initial data is the use of the alphanumeric part number and the name of the part in the product, which corresponds to its actual representation in the design documentation.

Library of standard products

The program allows you to describe a library of standard products and use them in the future when creating orders for cutting. You can reduce the time required to enter initial data for cutting by tens of times - a few commands and the order is ready for cutting.

Pasting the edges of parts

For parts, you can specify the edges to be glued. At the same time, an arbitrary number of grades of material for gluing edges is supported. The entered information is used to calculate the quantity and cost of the material per order.

When cutting glass or metal, this function is no less useful! In the same way, you can consider grinding the edges of parts for glass or cutting edges for welding for metal.

Optimal cutting

Automatic cutting of material is carried out taking into account technological and organizational parameters of production. The parameters allow you to set: cut width, cutting the edge of the sheet, taking into account through cuts, type of cutting, minimum distance between saws, etc.

A unique set of customizable parameters is distinctive feature Astra Cutting programs.

At manual editing cards provide a number of functions for quick and accurate cutting adjustments: placement of a group of parts according to the width of the cut, alignment according to common base, shift all the way, etc. At the same time, canceling completed operations is supported, allowing you to restore previous state cutting maps, and scaling of document windows.

Full accounting of measured residues after cutting

Calculation of residues after cutting is carried out both automatically and in dialog mode. Depending on the set parameters, leftovers are automatically cut out in subsequent orders. When working with a list of residues, they can be added, deleted, sorted or filtered by any of the following characteristics: sizes, material grade, fiber.

All order documentation

For each cutting map, a full set technological documentation - sketch and specification, including necessary information for the manufacture of parts and accounting of work performed. The cutting map is printed at any scale, user installed, and in any sheet orientation. You can also set the output of several cutting cards on one printed sheet. In addition, the following documentation is generated: order specifications, material availability sheet, specification for gluing the edges of parts, an invoice for work performed and materials for the order, labels for marking parts.

Postprocessors for CNC cutting machines

Besides

Importing data from a furniture design program

Great way To realize your design ideas in three-dimensional form is to use. In a few minutes you will develop a project and just as easily cut it in the Astra Cutting program.
