I often wrote that I download new versions of this browser from manufacturers' ftp servers a few days earlier than the official automatic update for ordinary users (a kind of benefit for initiates). This gives me the opportunity to write such articles among the first...
Thus, I learned that everyone who switches to the 64-bit version of the browser will face one nuance - a duplicate in the system folders.
The fact is that all 64-bit programs are automatically registered in the main program folder of the system (left in the screenshot), and 32-bit ones in an additional (compatible) folder...
Thus, after updating (at least with a separate installer), you will have one Mozilla Firefox in both folders - old and new. The same CCleaner will show you this very well.
Naturally, we urgently need to get rid of the old version. Just in case, I made a backup copy of my browser profile using the wonderful MozBackup program and bravely deleted the old 32-bit version using CCleaner.
It turned out that saving the profile was not at all necessary - it was easily picked up by the new browser. All extensions and bookmarks remain in place - working for my benefit like crazy in the brand new 64-bit version of Mozilla Firefox 42 right at this moment.
