Many developers try to add some unique features to their product that make it stand out from other solutions. Todoist is not only a full-featured task manager, but also a project manager.

However, as it turns out, a project in Todoist’s understanding is nothing more than a category of tasks. The options associated with project management - in the usual sense - are minimal here. For example, you can specify the nesting level, priority, add subtasks, and provide shared access to the project. A report with statistics for 9 days is sent to the email specified during registration.

Generally speaking, when working with projects, you can specify the duration of completion. There are no such opportunities here. Significant disadvantage Todoist - lack of a list of completed tasks (in the form of a history/archive). As a result, if a task is mistakenly marked as completed, it can just as easily be overlooked.

Some features were not found in the free version of Todoist. For example, you can add a note only in the premium version of the application.

Despite the above, managing task lists is quite convenient due to the context menu and drag-and-drop. In the latter case, you can override the nesting level of the task. Unfortunately, the inconveniences appear immediately. Firstly, you cannot create tasks in two or three transitions; the date must be tied to the task (and the default value must be changed). Secondly, to close a task you need to contact context menu, A hidden element you need to look in history. Thirdly, advertising in the free version of To Do Reminder is quite distracting.

However, the main drawback of the application is that tasks cannot be organized. For these purposes, no categories, no filters, no projects, etc. are provided, although the function seems to be obvious.

Summary. The To Do Reminder manager is poorly suited to fast work with tasks. For the most part, the shortcomings lie in the weak ergonomics of the application. The functionality itself is not bad, and as a program for creating reminders, Reminder is a good option.

Noodles is perhaps the most minimalistic task manager, but still retains the most important features. Makes you feel simple text interface, very intuitive and convenient control. The Noodles toolkit is easy to learn using the instructions that come with the program.

Among the most convenient points, it is worth mentioning the fast and unified creation of lists and tasks: the input field is available at the bottom of the screen. When adding a task, its priority and, if necessary, the text of the note are indicated. List management is also excellent. Drag and drop is used to reorganize elements, strikethrough is used to mark completion, priority is indicated directly in the field quick input. Thus, the emphasis is placed precisely on the speed of task management.

However, it should be noted that the functionality of this product is very modest. Thus, synchronization is not available, which makes Noodles a local and single-user solution. Further, tasks cannot specify execution time - that is, calendar functions are completely absent, and third party services are not supported. There are practically no settings in Noodles.

Summary. Noodles allows you to create all kinds of lists and notes without the ability to schedule and, accordingly, notify about events. Such minimalism is justified if speed is of primary importance.

Remember the Milk is another popular app. Integrates with Google Calendar, Gmail, Evernote, available for Android platforms and iOS, synchronizes data without problems.

Conventionally, we can distinguish two options for grouping tasks: by time and by lists. In the first case, a menu is available with a choice of time: the whole week or every day (current and six days in advance). The second display option is lists.

Except quick addition tasks, it is easy to view completed tasks, there is a menu at the bottom of the screen for this. Remember the Milk allows you to create tasks with multiple notes. In addition, various fields are available: repetition, approximate time, places, links, tags. Tags are a more flexible replacement for traditional folders.

The main feature of Remember the Milk is its query syntax, which helps speed up adding tasks, as well as improve their subsequent search.

I was pleased with the application settings. There are options related to tasks, design, synchronization, reminders, etc.

Summary. An excellent task manager with balanced functionality and nice design. It’s also nice that the free version has functions that are most often found only in the pro version of such applications.
