BOOM is a good music player for Android, which is suitable for those users who like to listen to music from social networks, such as VKontakte and Odnoklassniki. The audio player created a boom effect due to its sound quality, as well as the ability to download music from social networks.

With Boom Player you can listen to your favorite tracks and compositions even without Internet access. With a music player on your smartphone, you get a quick and very easy way to access your audio recordings, you will also have access to new music, exclusive premieres and personal recommendations. The music you listen to will be broadcast automatically in network status, so your friends will be able to appreciate your taste. The application is free, but like most programs, the player supports client subscriptions. Support for the Ok and Vk playlist has become an exclusive feature of the Boom player, before which other options pale.

The application will lose only one function, but a very important one - the ability to save audio recordings in memory. If you have been listening to music from VKontakte on your computer all the time, then these innovations will not be noticeable to you.

What is Boom

Boom has very low ratings on Google Play and the App Store. Average - 2.1 points. However, the complaints are no longer about the functionality and operation of the application, but about the very fact that you now have to pay for music. People are still not ready for this.

A separate application for music has one big advantage - in fact, the ability to cache. It also has a different design, there are sections with recommendations and new products. All posts from friends, publics and groups to which music is attached appear in the feed.

You can listen to music in individual tracks, albums, or play the artist’s entire discography. At the same time, the official songs of the artist are not separated from fan creations. For example, if you play Ed Sheeran tracks, “Light It Up - Photograph (Felix Jaehn Remix)” may suddenly start playing in your headphones. So-so surprise.

There is no search by albums. You need to find a song from the album, play it and only then go to the album through the context menu. You will have to cache one track at a time. If you want to save an entire album to listen to later, please add each track to your music library and cache it. For some reason some songs are not available.

What to do if Boom doesn't work?

For many users, tracks are not saved when the subscription is activated. I also faced this problem. The following helped: I canceled the subscription, reinstalled the application and subscribed again.

Cost and competitors

A monthly subscription to Boom costs 149 rubles. Competitors' prices are approximately the same: 159 rubles on Google Play Music, 169 rubles on Apple Music and 169 rubles on Deezer. The first month is free. If you don't like it, don't forget to cancel your subscription, otherwise the money will be debited automatically.

In my opinion, the competitors are better. Their interfaces are more logical, it is more convenient to listen to music in albums and discographies. The recommendations there are more advanced and interesting: you can always find something new for yourself. The Boom app also has them, but is much less varied.

Why Boom?

Boom has only one advantage, but for many it will be decisive: you don’t have to rebuild your music library. If you previously listened to music only on the social network VKontakte, then all the songs will already be in the application, you just need to log in with your account. The service offers approximately the same functionality for the same money as competitors, but there will be less fuss with it.

Mail.Ru Group partner, United Media Agency, has released the Boom application on Android and iOS. Previously, it was called “VKontakte Music” and worked in trial mode.

Boom works in close connection with the user's account on the VKontakte social network and picks up all the music from there: the one you added to yourself, what is posted on your wall, what is found in the news feed, from friends and in the communities to which you are subscribed. The most important difference from the old version of the application is that Boom now has paid subscriptions that expand the capabilities of this service.

The main screen of the application is the VKontakte news feed, into which publications containing audio tracks are filtered. If you subscribe to music publics, then such a feed can be very interesting. It also has a built-in horizontally scrollable block with new releases.

There is no full-fledged catalog or search for release versions of albums, singles and collections in the application; the content is scattered in different places. The user can catalog it independently in the same way as on a social network - adding each track individually to his collection. In this respect, Boom is inferior to other music services that are filled by professionals. However, some albums are still presented in their entirety, but finding them is not so easy: to do this you need to launch the track, expand it to full screen (by clicking on its name), open the menu and select “Go to album”.

Another “non-obvious” function is displaying song lyrics. To see the lyrics, you need to again expand the track to full screen, and then click on its cover or on the microphone icon. The application also allows you to search for records similar to the selected track - to do this, click on the magic wand icon at the bottom right. In addition, you can search for all tracks of the selected artist, but they will again be presented randomly, without any sorting by album.

There is no support for playlists, an equalizer, or curated music selections in this application - three more big drawbacks of Boom. But there is a search, a list of popular search queries, as well as the ability to see the music that your friends or publics you subscribe to have added to their list.

The application has four tariff plans: free, simple, practical and unlimited. The free plan is valid for 90 days and allows you to save up to one hour of music for listening without an Internet connection. A simple tariff (59 rubles per month) allows you to store two hours of music, a practical one (99 rubles) - three hours, and in an unlimited tariff (149 rubles) the duration of offline sound is limited only by the storage capacity on the device.

The VKontakte Music application was released in April 2016, and it had only one tariff - free for 90 days. Users noticed that this tariff could be activated several times in a row. United Media Agency works in partnership with Mail.ru Group (owner of the social networks VKontakte, Odnoklassniki and Moi Mir). It is clearing copyrights and has entered into agreements with Sony Music, Warner Music, Soyuz and Nikitin studios, as well as First Music Publishing House and indie music distributor Orchard.

In our opinion, the Boom application turned out to be chaotic, but we can hardly blame the developers for this. It is very difficult to create a full-fledged service based on a music dump from VKontakte. There is a lot of work ahead - the collection should be replenished not with amateur rips of dubious quality, but with official label releases. Nowadays, I would only use Boom to check out new products and purchase them elsewhere.

One of the most popular social networks, VKontakte, launched a project in the 4th quarter of 2017 that limits the listening of music. This ban can be easily removed by paying a fee for using the application as a player. You can pay for music on VK after linking a bank card to your account or using another payment method. However, there are still some opportunities to listen to the music library without charging a fee. The advantages and disadvantages of switching to this subscription method should be separately considered.

Why pay for music on VK

On the user side, this need is determined by a number of factors. So, if a person listens to music enthusiastically and for a long time, but at the same time actively uses the VKontakte social network, then he will have to spend money on access to the system. A caveat should be made here, because you will only have to pay for the content that is played through the mobile application. Those who like to use the official version on a desktop computer or laptop are not affected by these changes. Background music remains free during active use.

The fact is that after the screen becomes inactive, playback stops, music is unavailable, and if the user listens for more than 60 minutes a day.

It should be noted that commercials often slip between tracks, which can be quite annoying to the consumer. They are also blocked by payment.

Important! For listening, a special application is installed that allows you to save the desired works to the user’s device.

The resource's management cites a compelling argument for introducing paid content. On the part of the copyright holder, this is a completely legal method of limiting piracy and receiving remuneration for the reproduction of music. Previously, uncontrolled consumption of content could not allow authors and performers to receive legitimate royalties.

Terms of payment

The only condition is to have a bank card with a positive balance for the second month of using the music add-on. The person accepts the offer and agrees to the terms after entering the card details.

Payment is made in advance, that is, the second month of use will be limited until there are enough funds on the plastic card (149 rubles) to be written off towards the provision of the service. In other countries in the CIS (Belarus or Ukraine) other fees will be charged in national currency.

Additionally, a player application can be installed that allows you to organize tracks and group them into albums at your discretion. Although you can pay from the resource used by VK.

How to pay for music on VK via phone

You will automatically have to pay for your VK music subscription via phone. If the user does not load card data, the debit will be made from the cell phone balance. There are no other ways to pay for the Boom application or directly subscribe to VK via phone.

Some telecom operators propose to exclude altogether payment for listening by connecting to one of the tariffs.

How to pay for the Boom app

Boom is a standalone application with the ability to synchronize previously listened music on VK. If the subscription was issued on the VKontakte website, then it will automatically transfer to the ability to listen to Boom.

However, if such a subscription has not been issued, and the user accesses the Google Store or AppStore, then no fee is charged during downloading, but a message is displayed indicating the presence of paid content. After downloading, there are two login options: VKontakte and Odnoklassniki.

VK is selected and in the music section an attempt is made to synchronize playlists. After which a message appears asking you to subscribe. By clicking the “Try” button, a text message will appear about the benefits of payment, including:

  • save musical works;
  • lack of commercials;
  • expanded capabilities for creating a collection;
  • controlling music playback in the background, including listening from the VKontakte application.

By clicking the “Connect” button, a message will appear stating that payment is charged to your Google account as standard.

You cannot listen to music in different accounts with one subscription.

You can pay for listening to music in the Boom application using a bank card, PayPal account balance or mobile phone. If at any point the subscriber decides to use a different source payment for listening, then he will need to unsubscribe and, when reconnecting, indicate a different write-off path.

Thus, knowing simple instructions on how to pay for constant listening to music on VK, a social network user will receive high-quality content without restrictions. The main rule is to remember to select a payment source at the time of subscription.
