Making something with your own hands is very pleasant and interesting. Particular pleasure comes from making things and objects that will last for many years. In second place in popularity among home craftsmen is repurposing old household items and beloved but outdated family items.

The Internet and television are teeming with advice and master classes on making furniture, small items, and designing household items. Of particular interest are the so-called “life hacks”, tips on how to make life easier.

It’s good if a person’s hands grow from the right place, and he makes high-quality and beautiful things. Otherwise, the world is simply replenished with more garbage that does not warm the soul and belongs in the trash heap. When the Beaver channel appeared in my cable television package, I was very happy, because I thought it was a very good idea to show people how simple it is to recreate interesting design solutions in a short time.

The Bober TV channel is positioned as the first 24-hour channel in Russia for arranging living space. The channel provides design tips for home and garden, master classes on making and designing furniture, creating art objects and more. On Beaver you can see a section dedicated to gardening, bathhouses, and repairs.

The channel itself is a very interesting idea. All videos are high quality, made in a professional studio. The presenters, who are also masters, try to show everything in an accessible way and use ideas that are simple for beginners. By regularly viewing the channel, you can highlight sections that interest you and return to them from time to time. The “life hacks” section is very interesting, although this word, when pronounced by the bearded presenter, is annoying and hurts the ear. Approximately 70% of the advice is interesting and easily applicable in life.

Despite the fact that the creators of the channel were going to implement a very successful project, in reality the result was dubious. Lovers of beautiful, high-quality things, connoisseurs of fine art will not find anything interesting for themselves here. Everything is rough, primitive, sometimes even frightening. You found old flights at the store - take them home. At the beaver they will show you how to make a bed, table, or something else very necessary out of them.

The first thing that scares you about the channel is the content. In 80% of cases, we are shown how to create garbage with our own hands, which will soon go to the trash heap. For example, they make Christmas trees from a toilet brush. Or they fill logs with cement to build a strange pedestal out of them. The beaver's favorite plot is to make scary beds out of flying, using wooden spools as a base for tables. And also paint any garbage indiscriminately. As a result, we see some frightening things, roughly painted, unsightly. To enhance the effect, against the backdrop of a shabby wall, they set up an installation of a freshly prepared masterpiece, lay out a garland there and hang a curtain-rag. To be honest, it doesn’t inspire me and my hand doesn’t reach out to work and create my own objects.

The second thing that displeases me is the disgusting beaver presenters. Sweet, seemingly gay, slender men, opening their childishly naive eyes with the face of a child who is standing on a chair reciting a poem, are trying to impress us with something. Unnatural, cloying, disgusting. I don’t like the host of the “life hacks” column, Anton Zorkin. They make me immediately change the channel.

And country fairies are simply terrible. I don’t know where they were found, but they are terribly disgusting.

And next time, when typing the request “Beaver show all useful tips,” think, do you really want to see how they now make a hanger from a water pipe, or a cabinet from old half-rotten boards?

The friendly “Digital TV Family” of Channel One is waiting for an addition: on August 9, “Beaver” will be launched, a TV channel that has been talked about for several months. Moscow correspondent of Tricolor TV Magazin Laura Chuguevskaya discussed what is hidden behind the intriguing name with the general producer of the channel Tatyana Zhukova over a cup of coffee.

Let's start from the very beginning. “Beaver” - what is it about? The name is bright, a little funny, but requires explanation. How did the idea come about?

Our channel was conceived as a collection of ideas for renovation, construction, and interior design in an apartment, house, garden plot, or in your yard. The idea has been in the air for a long time; there was a shortage of quality content in which professionals in an accessible language would give basic ideas about decor and explain complex nuances. Everything came together when it dawned on us: we need to talk not only about how easy it is to make it comfortable and beautiful, the most important thing is to convey the feeling that by changing the space around you, you can make yourself a little happier. So now we We responsibly declare: “Beaver” is a channel about happiness. Our idea turned out to becontagious for our friends and partners, and now we know exactly with whom and for whom we will work.

The channel will provide step-by-step instructions on how to use the experience of others to make the world around you better, more convenient and more colorful.

What is happiness for you personally?

This is harmony, the balance of the inner world and the outer. Happiness is made up of little things, it is around us, in that space and those objects that are always nearby. Every detail is important - where we sleep, how we wake up, where we eat and receive guests, how we relax and in what conditions we work. You can create happiness with your own hands. A person discovers something new in himself when he picks up a brush and paint: he can choose the color and texture himself, without depending on generally accepted norms and other people’s habits. Someone can experience an incredible thrill simply by moving a refrigerator from the kitchen to the bedroom or turning it into a linen closet. Do you know what I mean? Our channel is not only about renovation and design. These are stories about development, creativity, self-realization.

Do I understand correctly that you will create programs for both adults and children?

We do not divide our viewers by age or social status. It is much more important to us who a person feels himself to be, who he strives to be. The desire to be happy lives in everyone. Our task is to help any viewer find themselves and inspire them.

Are you sure that in Russia the topic of creativity and self-development is relevant for everyone today?

We have special people and special problems - housing and everyday problems, I mean. The Khrushchev kitchens are six square meters, the bathrooms are tiny, the winters are cold, the cities are dirty, there is not enough sun for everyone. But at all times there were Kulibins and homemade people who managed to do amazing things in this environment. So they are all our “beavers”. The channel will offer solutions to current Russian problems, giving step-by-step instructions on how to make the world around you better, more convenient and more colorful, using the experience of others.

“Beaver” encourages you to come up with non-standard things at minimal cost

Will you use foreign experience?

We rely on all the best that there is in the world. But we have plenty of our own. For example, even Soviet design is actually a very cool heritage. Soviet-era chairs have no competitors in terms of comfort. “Beaver” will show how to restore Soviet furniture yourself. Many people have it lying around at their dachas or standing there, smelling of mothballs, and people cannot use it. But this is the most chic thing, you just need to know what and where to tear off and where to nail a new one.

We didn't have a casting. Imagine: the channel hasn’t really launched yet, but every day I receive emails like “take me to Beaver, I’ll be useful to you.” And those who are already with us are ready to work day and night. We We film programs around the clock, and it can be difficult to stop. This is a very quickly catching idea. Now the main thing is to infect our viewers with it. It sounds immodest - but now, having looked at what we get both in terms of content and form, we are confident of success. We implemented the design of the channel together with the same people who worked on internationally recognized television projects. Our chief designer Anton Nenashev creates the design of the “Beaver” channel with the same team that created the visualization of the Sochi Olympics with it.

Where is the filming taking place, what pavilions and equipment do you use?

We are building a whole factory, our own Beaver house, in which we willmove walls, create furniture, art objects... In a crisis year it is very difficult to open such a channel, but we are constantly figuring out how to create products at the level of Channel One with minimal budgets. You know what high standards Konstantin Ernst sets! But there is aHow wonderful: we also encourage viewers to come up with non-standard things at minimal cost.

We will feature many different people with interesting ideas for improving life. Among them, of course, there are stars - for example, Olga Platonova - very charismatic, she is, without a doubt, one of the best in the field of landscape design. Or, for example, Anna Erman also helps “Beaver” - she is one of the three best decorators in Russia. I can’t talk about everyone yet - competition is competition. There will definitely be surprises.

How can TV viewers find "The Beaver"?

We have already signed broadcasting contracts with the largest operators in Russia - these are Tricolor TV, Rostelecom, MTS, NTV-Plus, Akado... Beaver, like other thematic channels of the Digital TV Family of the First, will be available and outside of Russia.

What will be the measure of the success of “The Beaver” for you: an increase in the viewership, mentions in the media and social networks?

We conducted research related to the topic of renovation. Every second resident of our country is making repairs right now. And that means “Beaver” is useful to these people.
