Do not download files from unverified sources. Very often such products contain malicious code, which can harm your project.

Paid options are also distributed in this way. They are not in the WordPress directory, but they are completely safe. In such cases, look at the store itself, read reviews about it on the Internet, so as not to run into scammers.

You can also install the extension using a zip archive. To do this, go back to the directory and find “Download plugin” at the top.

Select the file using file manager or drag it into the window, then click “Install” and “Activate”.

Via FTP

For this method you will also need an archive of files. Download it from the same official WordPress portal or from a third-party developer’s website.

Here things get a little more complicated. We will need to download the extension files in zip format directly via FTP, i.e. through the file transfer protocol from the user’s computer to the server, unpack them, and then place them in a folder on the hosting.

Once the archive is downloaded, we will need to extract its contents into separate folder(remember the path to it).

After extraction you will see a folder with different files. This is the extension that we need to manually add to the admin panel. To connect it to WordPress, you need to move the folder with files to plugins, which is usually located along the path: wp-content/plugins.
