Laptops with AMD A10 processor are the best choice. Laptops with AMD A10 processor are the best choice Delivery and configuration

HP Pavilion is a good “multimedia” laptop that leaves a pleasant impression, even despite the fact that we tested a relatively inexpensive modification, the HP Pavilion 15-n029sr. The main components of this configuration are the AMD A10-5745M processor and AMD Radeon 8670M discrete video. Of course, the processor also has a built-in graphics core, which can work in tandem with an external one.

In addition, there are 8 GB “under the hood” random access memory And HDD volume 1 TB. It’s quite a decent configuration, which will cost quite a bit of money: in the post-Soviet space, retail for a laptop costs from 24 to 28 thousand rubles at the time of writing (or $650-800, if you prefer conventional units).

⇡ Appearance

The design of the HP Pavilion 15 is generally boring - at least by today's standards. The only thing that enlivens the overall picture a little is that it rises above the plane of the working surface. rear end housing in which the connecting loops are “hidden”.

The surface of the lid is glossy. Fortunately, the manufacturer made it silver instead of black, so fingerprints, dust and scratches are not too noticeable. Concealing minor imperfections works especially well thanks to the texture of small white dots. Upon closer inspection, these points look a little "cheap", but it's worth taking a step back from the laptop and appreciating it appearance from such a distance, the texture begins to add a certain charm to the laptop.

Inside is a kingdom of gloss. The work area, the chiclet keyboard backing, and even the frame around the display are glossy. The work area also has a pattern of gray dots, similar to the one used on the lid. And here it also works: thanks to this trick, fingerprints are not noticeable. But the keyboard backing and frame are devoid of texture - and on these surfaces the “fingers” stand out very much.

The laptop has a keyboard with an additional numeric keypad, which makes typing much easier numerical information. There are almost no compressed letter keys; even the long-suffering [е] was not trimmed. In fact, only two arrow keys turned out to be compressed in height - “up” and “down”. But still there are mistakes: for example, the key turned out to be too short, so when touch typing, the finger keeps hitting . When you apply very strong pressure to any of the central keys, the base of the keyboard bends slightly. However, during normal typing, the lack of rigidity of the keyboard unit is almost not noticeable. In general, the keyboard turned out to be pleasant - the key travel is of medium hardness, the actuation moment is clearly felt, and the noise when pressed is low.

The touch panel is slightly recessed into the body and is dotted with raised dots that make it easy to determine its boundaries by touch. The manipulator keys are highlighted, which is good in itself. IN additional advantages you can record their large sizes. But a very hard ride and a loud click when triggered are a significant minus.

The left side of the laptop is the busiest. There is a power supply socket, complemented by an indicator, a slot for a security lock, an Ethernet port, a ventilation grille, an HDMI port, a pair of USB 3.0, and a memory card reader.

On the right side surface, at first glance, there is more than enough free space, but this impression is deceptive, because the drive takes up a lot of space optical disks. There is also a USB 2.0 port, a combined audio jack for connecting headphones and a microphone, and power and drive access indicators. Installing LEDs on the side has already become a good tradition for HP laptops, because with this arrangement the LEDs do not distract from work, but, if necessary, are clearly visible even with the lid closed.

The front side of the case is empty. At the back, only the connecting loops and the battery are visible.

Above the keyboard there is a pair of speakers, as well as a power key with an integrated light indicator in the form of an icon, actually, power. There is a webcam on the top edge of the display, as well as a pair of microphones.

The bottom of the laptop is flat, made of standard black plastic with a rough surface. On the one hand, it very actively collects fingerprints, which are not easy to clean. On the other hand, this is not at all the part of the laptop that anyone will admire.

As for upgrade options, only one compartment is available to the user, which contains two slots for SO-DIMM memory modules and a connector for wireless adapter half-height Mini Card form factor. The body rests on four massive legs. Thanks to the use of the right material and the successful shape of the legs, the laptop tenaciously holds on to glass and varnished tabletops, and even on a regular office desk, moving it from its place is not so easy. In general, the likelihood of the HP Pavilion 15 being pulled off the table by catching on the cable connected to it is low.

AMD A10-4600M is a mobile quad-core processor based on the Trinity architecture. It was officially introduced in the second quarter of 2012, and is the direct successor to the Llano A-series APUs. This is currently the fastest Trinity APU on the market. The chip is produced according to 32 nm standards technological process SOI. The APU includes a 2.3 GHz processor (up to 3.2 GHz with Turbo Core), a fairly fast integrated Radeon HD 7660G graphics card, as well as a dual-channel memory controller, video encoders/decoders and a north bridge.

The processor cores are based on the Piledriver architecture, the successor to the Bulldozer architecture. Although the A10-4600M is marketed as a quad-core processor, it only includes two modules with four integer cores and two floating-point cores. Therefore, the processor is not quad-core as such.

Compared to the cores of the previous Bulldozer architecture, AMD was able to improve the IPC performance of the Trinity cores by increasing the clock speed. However, compared to its predecessor Llano, Trinity's multi-threaded performance is only slightly improved. Turbo Core 3.0 also provides single-threaded performance acceleration, although it is not yet as efficient as Intel's Turbo Boost technology. However, AMD was able to implement other equally useful features, such as AVX expansion (including FMA) and support for AES encryption.

In terms of overall performance, the A10-4600M can perform work up to 25% faster than the Llano-based A8-3520M processor. The performance increase in new processors is especially noticeable with single-threaded loads.

The A10-4600M processor costs about the same as the Intel Core i3-2310M Sandy Bridge according to the results obtained in tests, although in real situations the data may differ slightly. However, the 4600M's performance should be sufficient for daily tasks such as Office, web surfing, watching videos and playing games.

The integrated Radeon HD 7660G graphics card supports DirectX 11 and has 384 shader cores. Thanks to Turbo Core technology, it will operate at frequencies from 497 to 686 MHz, depending on the current load. On average, the HD 7660G GPU can be compared to the discrete Radeon HD 6650M, and it is also noticeably faster than built-in processors Ivy Bridge HD Graphics 4000 from Intel.

TDP A10-4600M The APU is 35W, which is comparable to the power consumption of dual-core Ivy processors Bridge. Therefore, the A10-4600M is best suited for laptops with a diagonal size of 14 inches or larger.

Pavilion g6 series laptops manufactured by a North American company Hewlett-Packard, unlike the previously reviewed m6 series (and this, remember, is the HP Pavilion m6-1061er), have a less representative appearance due to the absence of metal elements, and are designed for a wider audience. This is also influenced by the more affordable price, ranging on average from 500 to 700 US dollars, depending on the configuration.

One of the laptops in this series is, which costs slightly more than 5,000 UAH. ($620) offers a rather nice appearance, although a little bulky by today's standards, and a very impressive level of performance created by a combination of a quad-core A10-4600M APU with integrated graphics core AMD Radeon HD 7660G, discrete video card AMD Radeon HD 7670M, operating in mode AMD Dual Graphics, and 8 GB of RAM. At the same time, a feature of this model is that it is equipped with a spacious hard drive with a capacity of 1 TB, allowing you to forget about the need to search for free space.

Delivery and configuration

The HP Pavilion g6-2209sr laptop is delivered in a large and relatively thin cardboard box, which has a minimalist design and is almost entirely painted black. The only identifying marks are a couple of manufacturer logos and a few small security pictograms. On the sides there are a couple of stickers with technical information about delivery.

The delivery package, in addition to the laptop itself, includes:

    installation instructions in three languages;

    a booklet with the basics of Windows 8 in three languages;

    a card with telephone numbers of all HP product support centers;

    battery;

    network cable;

    power unit.

Appearance, arrangement of elements

The appearance of the HP Pavilion g6-2209sr is pleasant, but it doesn’t stand out as anything special, which is typical for mid-range laptops price segment. But the use of classical color range makes him universal option both ordinary and corporate consumers. True, the purchase of this laptop will burden you with the need for constant and careful care of the condition of the case, almost all of the elements of which have a glossy finish that actively collects fingerprints. At the same time, do not forget that scratches can easily be left on such a surface.

The outer side of the display lid is noticeably beveled along the contour, making it appear thinner. Cover painted grey colour with a “sparkle” that looks unusual in bright light. At the bottom of the cover on the left there is a metal manufacturer's logo.

The working panel, including the under-palm area and the area around the keyboard unit, is also painted in a “sparkling” color, and is edged along the contour with a thin black insert.

Only the sides of the laptop and its bottom, as well as the metal insert above the keyboard, remained devoid of gloss.

The HP Pavilion g6-2209sr case, weighing about 2.5 kg, which is not very little, is made of very durable plastic, which provides the laptop with fairly high rigidity. The only exception is a slight deflection of the lid, typical of many laptops, when you press on its central part. The build quality is very good. The body elements are perfectly adjusted to each other, there are no gaps between them, and nothing creaks when trying to twist or apply pressure.

The display unit is secured by two fairly tight hinges, ensuring good fixation of the display position. The maximum opening angle is about 135°, which is quite enough for comfortable work.

The front and back sides of the laptop do not have any interface elements.

On the left side there is the main part of communication ports, namely VGA and HDMI ports, an RJ-45 network connector, two USB port 3.0, two audio jacks and a memory card reader. There is also a not very large ventilation grille here.

Most of the right side is occupied by an optical DVD drive with a retractable carriage. In addition to this, there is a place for two small indicators (power and hard drive access), a USB 2.0 port, a power connector, next to which there is a network connection indicator, and a Kensington lock hole.

On the flat bottom of the laptop, which has smooth curves at the edges, there are several relatively large ventilation grilles, a battery compartment equipped with a single spring retainer, and a large L-shaped hatch. After removing it, access to the RAM modules, hard drive connector and adapter opens wireless networks. At the corners of the case there are four large round rubber feet, which, given the considerable weight of the laptop, provide excellent grip on surfaces.

Input Devices

The HP Pavilion g6-2209sr uses a proprietary full-size island-type keyboard, which is located in a small recess of the working area. Its traditional features are the integration of several indicators directly into the keys, as well as the presence of rounded corner keys, both on the main and additional ones. digital block. The keyboard layout is very good - all the keys, the main part of which measures 15x15 mm, are located in their usual places, but the [Up] and [Down] arrows are halved in height - 18x7.5 mm, and the inverted row function keys- you still need to get used to it.

The keys have a short and fairly quiet stroke, the moment of operation is clearly felt. The application of symbols, carried out using the printing method, was done with high quality, but the implementation itself is somewhat controversial. For all characters without exception, only white color is used, while Latin characters are sufficient large print are placed exactly in the center of the keys, leaving a minimum of space for the Cyrillic alphabet and additional symbols. We also note the use of a glossy backing, which instantly becomes covered with fingerprints, especially after removing the protective film.

Above the keyboard on the left is a small chrome power key equipped with a bright white LED. No other additional keys not included in the laptop.

The Synaptics touchpad, slightly recessed into the laptop body with dedicated mechanical buttons, is noticeably shifted to the left relative to the center of the under-palm area. The touch panel has fairly large dimensions - 96x44 mm, and is characterized by a pimpled texture, which should ensure ease of sliding of the finger, and it is worth noting that it copes with the task very well. However, the sensation of moving your finger over these “pimples” is not very pleasant. Sensitivity touchpad good, and it also supports several Windows 8 gestures, in particular, when you swipe from the right side to the left, the Charms Bar sidebar appears/disappears, and when you swipe from the left side to the right, you sequentially switch between running applications Modern UI interface.

The separate and rather large touchpad buttons are made of the same plastic as the entire under-palm area. Their stroke is short and quite clear. Traditionally, there is also a function to disable the touchpad when you double tap on the upper right corner of the touchpad.

Display, webcam, sound

The laptop is equipped with a 15.6" Chimei Innolux CMO15A2 display, maximum resolution which is 1366 by 768 points. Its main disadvantages are the small vertical viewing angles, which are the result of using a mid-level TN matrix (horizontal viewing angles are quite good), and the presence of a glossy coating, due to which you have to constantly fight off glare and fingerprints. Under optimal conditions, the display provides a very high-quality image with bright and rich colors. The brightness range is sufficient for comfortable work indoors, both during the day and at night, however, for working under bright sun, especially taking into account the gloss, it may not be enough.

Participation in video conferencing is ensured by an HP TrueVision HD webcam with a 1.3 megapixel module resolution, which makes it possible to record video in 720p format. Next to the camera there is an indicator of its activity and one directional microphone.

The sound component of the laptop is represented by two Altec Lansing speakers, which are located above the keyboard and covered with a decorative metal mesh. Playback quality, further processed Dolby technology Advanced Audio, very good – mid and high frequencies have good detail, there is also a slight “buzz” low frequencies. Thanks to this, it’s quite pleasant to watch a movie and listen to music on a laptop. However, music lovers are better off using external acoustics or headphones.

The audio path of the laptop's audio subsystem was tested using the RightMark Audio Analyzer 6.2.3 application. To obtain more accurate results, the audio driver has been updated to latest version, and in the settings all sound special effects are disabled. Operating mode: 16 bit, 44 kHz. Signal route: external short circuit (linear output - linear input).

Power supply and battery

Operation from the mains and charging the battery is provided by a fairly large power supply Nihon Hewlett-Packard A090A00AL-HW01 with a power of 90 W and maximum output parameters of 19 V, 4.74 A. V passive mode When the laptop is running, the power supply practically does not heat up. Under load, its temperature rises noticeably and is about 55-60°C.

Autonomous operation of the laptop is ensured by a removable lithium-ion battery Nihon Hewlett-Packard HSTNN-IB0W with a capacity of 4200 mAh (47 Wh) and an output voltage of 10.8 V. The battery is based on 6 prismatic cells.

The bulk of the performance testing was carried out using several popular packages and modern games, which allow you to fully evaluate the capabilities of the reviewed laptop.

Performance of the HP Pavilion g6-2209sr laptop thanks to the AMD A10-4600M APU with integrated graphics AMD core Radeon HD 7660G and discrete AMD video cards Radeon HD 7670M, which operates in AMD Dual Graphics mode, i.e. together with an integrated solution, very high, especially when processing graphic scenes. However, in terms of processing speed of non-graphical and physical calculations, the APU A10-4600M is significantly inferior to competing Intel solutions - third-generation Core i5 and especially Core i7 processors, which, with the same number of cores, are capable of simultaneously processing twice as much information.

Generally speaking, the HP Pavilion g6-2209sr provides not only a comfortable level of work with all kinds of office applications, graphic editors and programs for video editing, but also allows you to admire the very smooth processing of modern games, including at high graphics settings.

The graphs above show the results gaming tests at native (“native”) display resolution and minimum/medium/maximum graphics settings, which allows you to more accurately assess the possibility gaming application laptop.

Index Windows performance I gave almost all components of the laptop fairly high ratings on a scale from 1.0 to 9.9. The lowest score, according to which the final result was calculated, went to the processor (computing) part of the AMD A10-4600M, which is quite surprising, because it is the fastest representative mobile line APU Trinity.

To determine the performance of the APU cache memory and RAM modules, a specialized module built into the AIDA64 utility was used.

Drives

The laptop's disk subsystem is built on a 2.5-inch TOSHIBA MQ01ABD100 hard drive with a capacity of 1 TB. The data buffer is 8 MB, the spindle speed is 5400 rpm. The drive is connected using SATA interface 2.0.

To determine the detailed characteristics of hard disk, as well as testing for the speed of writing and reading information, the HD-Tune Pro program was used.

Works with almost all types of CD and DVD discs optical drive hp DVD-RAM UJ8B1, providing both read and write capabilities. For getting detailed characteristics Nero InfoTool 11 utility was used.

Cooling system, noise level and temperature conditions

Determination of cooling system efficiency and temperature regime laptop was carried out after an hour-long run of the Unigine Heaven Benchmark v3.0 test package in DirectX 11 mode with tessellation enabled. Temperature environment at the same time it was 26°C. Next, the following readings were collected using a Scythe Kama Thermo Wireless electronic thermometer:

At the end of the allotted time, the temperature of the working area, depending on the measurement location, ranged from 27.4 to 40.3 °C, and the lower part - from 28.4 to 43.9 °C.

Temperature internal components at idle or minimal load is at the level of 45°C, while at active load their temperature rises significantly, up to non-recommended levels long work 90°C. This, in turn, indicates the insufficient productivity of the cooling system used, which, moreover, is quite noisy under such a load. Therefore, we strongly recommend using cooling pads, for example, manufactured by ZALMAN.

Autonomous operation

Battery life measurements were carried out using Battery programs Eater Pro 2.70 in several modes: “classic” at maximum display brightness, viewing Full HD video in hardware decoding mode at maximum display brightness, and also idle at minimum brightness display.

In “classic” mode, the laptop was able to work for an hour and a half (91 minutes). At viewing Full HD video battery died after almost three hours (170 minutes). In idle mode, i.e. without performing any actions, the laptop turned off after just over six hours (381 minutes). It takes about three hours (183 minutes) to restore the battery to full capacity.

Results

The medium-format laptop has a completely ordinary appearance, which, unfortunately, is completely impractical due to the abundance of glossy elements that instantly collect fingerprints. In addition, scratches can easily be left on the gloss if handled carelessly, which will irreparably ruin the appearance. The main features of the laptop are the presence of a slow, but very capacious 1 TB hard drive, which allows you to forget about possible absence free space, as well as the use of the fastest mobile APU of the Trinity family, which is the AMD A10-4600M. Its performance, complemented by a discrete AMD Radeon HD 7670M graphics card running in AMD Dual Graphics mode and 8 GB of RAM, is enough not only for perfect job all kinds of office and graphic applications, but also for processing modern games, many of them at high graphics settings.
