However, all of these elements can be disabled. We previously described this using the example of disabling sounds and notifications in Avast Antivirus. This time we will look at another popular antivirus package, which is Norton Antivirus.

1. Remove Norton add-ons from web browsers

One of the most annoying things to come out of installing Norton antivirus software is the add-ons installed in web browsers. If you use Chrome or Firefox, your browser will now show add-ons for added security while browsing. In practice, however, their performance is unimpressive and can sometimes even cause errors or problems.

• Remove Norton Chrome add-ons

To remove Norton add-ons from Chrome browser, launch the browser and open the menu in the top right corner. From the menu, select "More Tools > Extensions".

A list of add-ons installed in Chrome will appear. You'll find add-ons such as Norton Identity Safe or Norton Security Toolbar. Remove them by clicking on trash icon next to each of them.

• Remove Norton add-ons from Firefox

Firefox has only one Norton add-on installed, which is responsible for displaying the toolbar. To remove it, go to the Firefox menu in the top right corner and select "Additionally".

The list includes Norton Security Toolbar. Click "Disable" to deactivate the add-on.

• Remove Norton add-ons from Internet Explorer

Internet Explorer did not lag behind - Norton also prepared a set of add-ons for it. To remove them, turn on Internet Explorer and then open the menu in the top right corner using the gear icon. Select an option here "Add-on Management".

A new extension management window will appear. Make sure the "Toolbars and Extensions" option is selected on the left. On the right is a list of all installed add-ons. Find the Norton add-ons section. There will be two extensions - Norton Toolbar and Norton Identity Protection. Select both options and select the Disable option.

2. Turn off notifications, sounds, and other unnecessary messages in Norton

The rest of the settings can now be configured directly in Norton Antivirus settings. Click the Norton icon in the notification area to open its main window. Then select in the top right corner "Settings".

Norton has a feature to quickly block all background work and messages through "Silent Mode" which you can turn on on the right. • Advanced settings

Find and deselect the following three functions here:

• 30 day report
• Norton activity notifications
• Special offer notifications

The 30-day report feature displays a notification at the end of each month with a summary of all activities that have occurred in the last thirty days. Norton Running Notifications are responsible for displaying messages about Norton background running (such as a notification that a scan has started, etc.). In turn, special offer notifications are responsible for displaying messages that encourage, for example, upgrading to a paid version.

Disabling the three options above will significantly reduce the number of notifications and messages that Norton displays. Confirm changes with the button "Apply."

• Anti-Spam Notifications

Another thing Norton showcases is anti-spam notifications. They appear when using the Outlook email client. Luckily, you can turn them off.

To do this, go to the tab in Norton "Settings" and select "Spam protection". Then go to the tab "Integration with email program".

Here you can disable all Norton email security features. If you want to turn off notifications from Norton when Outlook starts, uncheck "Welcome Screen".

• Notifications after downloading files from the network
