Doesn't log into the router interface. What is the default IP address of the router settings?

Good day.

Quite a lot of questions come from users about settings wireless network: change the name of the network, change the password to access it, limit the number of users who have access to it, etc. When you say that all this can be done quite easily in the router settings, another question follows: how to log into them...☺

The router settings page is a regular web page that can be opened in almost any browser (many even call this page the “Web Interface”). Actually, this article is just about how to get to this page...

Note: I want to say right away that most routers come with a CD. In 99% of cases, it contains a utility that makes it easier to configure the router (there are no drivers on it, and they are not needed - the router works as soon as you connect it). However, I’ll make a reservation right away: in such utilities, most often, there will not be all the settings, just the most basic ones. Therefore, in my opinion, all these utilities are useless; it’s easier to configure it yourself by opening a page with all the device parameters (more on this later in the article).

To go into the router settings, you need...

1) Connect the router to the computer

The first thing you need to do is connect your router with a cable to your computer (note: later, when Wi-Fi network will be configured, the cable can be disconnected). A network cable (at least 1 piece) is included with any router model (D-Link, TP-Link, Asus, etc.).

Please note that after you connect the computer and the router with a cable and turn on the devices, the LEDs on the router should start blinking (including those marked LAN). It should also come to life network icon in Windows - it usually says that a network has been found and it is “Without access to the Internet”.

2) Find out the IP address, password and login from the web interface with settings

Each brand (model) of routers has its own IP address, login and password to access the settings. Without this information, you won’t be able to enter them!

I want to say right away: in the documentation for your device, on its box, or a sticker on the case - 99.9% this information is there (below is a photo of what it looks like)!

If you have scoured the router up and down, and there is nothing in the documentation (or there are simply no stickers or documents left), use the sign below. It contains the most popular models routers.

Table No. 1: Data for logging into router settings different models. Important! All settings are default. Recommended browser to enter settings - Internet Explorer.

Router model Settings page Login and password
Tp-Link 192.168.1.1 (in rare cases 192.168.0.1 , depending on the firmware version) Username: admin

Password: admin(type without periods, commas, etc.).

D-Link http://192.168.0.1 Login: admin

Password: either an empty string or the same admin.

Asus 192.168.1.1 login: admin

password: admin

Zyxel 192.168.1.1 Login: admin
Password: admin
TRENDnet http://192.168.10.1 User Name (login): admin

Password (password for access): admin

Router from Rostelecom (Sagemcom) http://192.168.1.1/ Password and login: admin
NetGear 192.168.1.1 Login: admin
Password: password

3) Enter the IP address in the browser address bar

Many people mistakenly enter the IP address into search bar, instead of address. And one more thing: it’s better to open the settings in Internet Explorer (Edge) - because... These browsers are preinstalled in Windows and firmware developers for routers optimize their web interface primarily for this browser.

4) Enter your password and login to access the interface

If the IP address was specified correctly, you will see that for further access, you will be asked to enter a password and login (this means that everything was done correctly before).

Most often, the default password and login are "admin"(enter without quotes). Sometimes, instead of a password, entering nothing at all is unnecessary. In general, enter the data specified by the manufacturer of your device and click OK.

5) Set up a wireless network, Internet

Actually, if the login and password are correct, a web interface with settings will open. All that's left to do is to make the necessary changes to the parameters, save them and reboot the router.

You might be interested in an article on how to set or change a Wi-Fi password -

If the settings page does not open...

1) Check if the IP address you are entering is correct

The most common problem- This is when the user enters the wrong IP address. In this case, the browser will display an error like “This page cannot be found and displayed” (example below). I recommend double-checking the IP address and trying to enter it again into the address bar of your browser.

This web page cannot be displayed // Internet Explorer

2) Is the router connected: is everything ok with the cables?

By the way, a similar error, as in the screenshot above, can be seen when your router is not connected to the computer. It is possible that the network cable is not tightly inserted into the LAN port, or it is simply broken. See if the LEDs on the router case are lit, if the Windows network icon indicating an available local connection.

3) Try a different browser

Many users use it to open the router web interface Chrome browsers, Firefox, Opera, etc., “hung” with a dozen or two plugins. The fact is that some plugins and settings in the browsers themselves (for example, turbo mode) can simply block and not allow you to log in using the local IP address.

Therefore, the advice is simple - try running Internet Explorer (without any add-ons), or at least just another browser.

4) Check if IP and DNS retrieval is set to auto mode

It is possible that you cannot connect due to incorrect IP and DNS settings. To check this, you need to open the network connections tab and see what’s going on there with the local network connection.

To do this, call the "Run" window (a combination of buttons Win+R), enter in the "Open" line ncpa.cpl and click OK (example below).

How to open network connections || ncpa.cpl

Next, look to see if there are any red crosses on the local network connection (Ethernet, if you have the English version) (which will indicate a lack of connection - for example, the network cable is not tightly inserted into the LAN port).

After that open properties this connection (example below).

Next, find the line “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” and open it properties. Well, actually, rearrange the sliders to automatic receipt IP and DNS (as in the screenshot below). Save the settings and restart your computer. Next, try again to access the IP address of the router settings.

5) If the previous did not help...

Despite the variety of models and brands of routers, the principle of logging into the web interface with settings is the same everywhere (this is what I tried to convey in this article ☻).

Thank you for the additions on the topic. That's all, good luck everyone!

Hello! I noticed that many people have problems with setting up routers even before the start of the setup process :). And there is nothing strange here, but the most popular problem is when it doesn’t work, in other words, there is no access to the settings.

When trying to access the address 192.168.1.1 (maybe another address, for example 192.168.0.1) The error “Unable to connect to to a remote server", Or something like that.

Now let's look at the main reasons through which it most often occurs. similar problem and we will try to fix it.

The address 192.168.1.1 (192.168.0.1) cannot be opened, what should I do?

Most likely, something is connected incorrectly, or the settings on the computer are incorrect.

Checking the connection between the router and the computer

When I write articles like this, I always say that during setup, the router needs to be connected to the computer (laptop, netbook) via network cable. As a rule, the cable is included with the router. When everything is configured, you can disconnect the cable, everything will work without it.

Plug the router into a power outlet and connect it using network cable to the computer. Typically, the network cable on the router is connected to the yellow connector. Like this:

One of the LAN indicators on the router should light up.

The computer must also detect that you have connected a router to it. The status should be something like this:

Don’t be alarmed that the status is “Without Internet access.” You just haven’t configured anything yet, everything will still be there :).

If everything is connected correctly, then try going to the address 192.168.1.1. Don `t come in? That's the problem, let's move on.

Perhaps the laptop has already connected to the router via Wi-Fi. Check and disconnect from your wireless network. The connection must be via cable only.

Checking the IP address. Perhaps yours is not 192.168.1.1

I don’t know exactly how it is on routers from other manufacturers, but at the bottom of the TP-Link router you can see the address for accessing the settings and the password/login that is used by default to access the control panel.

Look under your router, you may see something interesting there and the problem will be solved.

In TP-Link it looks like this:

As you can see on the router TP-Link TL-MR3220 IP address 192.168.0.1 . And no matter how you try, you can’t get into the settings at 192.168.1.1.

Also check whether you are entering this IP address correctly into the address bar of your browser. You need to enter it exactly in address bar, and not in the search bar :). Sorry for such childish advice.

Finally, try a different browser.

Main reason: it is not set to receive IP and DNS automatically

This is probably the main reason why you cannot get into the router settings. I should have written it first, but oh well.

This means that you need to check whether it is installed on your computer get IP and DNS automatically. Perhaps you have static addresses registered there from your old connection.

Click right click mouse on the connection status in the notification panel and select “Network and Control Center shared access”.

Go to the section on the left "Change adapter settings" and right click on "LAN connection". Select Properties.

Highlight "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and press Properties. Then check if you are set to receive IP and DNS addresses automatically (if not, install it). Click Ok And Ok.

If you don't know how to go into the settings of your router or you can't do it, you've come to the right address. So, 192.168.0.1 is a unique electronic IP address of your device (router or modem) on the Internet between it and the PC. The subnet used here is indicated as 192.168.0.X, when X is a number from 1 to 254. Your PC also has its own network address. For the router to be accessible, the computer’s IP address must also be located on the 192.168.0.X network and in the range - 2-254. Please note that there cannot be several devices on the network that have the same IP address - this would lead to a conflict between them.

Go to 192.168.0.1 admin/admin

The router serves as an independent network equipment that has its own operating system. You can configure it using the telnet interface or the Internet interface. In the first case we're talking about O command console device - the router settings interface is more complicated. If you are not a very experienced user, use the second option. His address - enter it in your browser.

If you are denied entry, make sure that you have registered an IP address.

Features of registering an IP address to log in to 192.168.0.1

Go to the “Network and Sharing Center”, then click on the “Network Connections” icon. For quick access, you can press simultaneously “ Win+R" In the pop-up “Run” window, specify control command netconnections

Click the Enter key or click OK. Click on the connection through which the router is connected and right-click on it:

In Properties, in the Select connection components menu, double-click on “ Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)»

Typically the default is the following:

Couldn't log into 192.168.0.1? In most cases, this indicates that it is disabled on the router DHCP server. This means you will need to manually register the IP address. Follow the picture:

The address must be between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.254. Do not forget about the requirement to specify the IP address as the “Default Gateway”. Besides, 192.168.0.1 must be specified as the “Preferred DNS Server”. Click the “OK” button.

If you cannot log into TP-Link or D-Link equipment via http://192.168.0.1 from any LAN port, you need to check access from other ports. Connect the patch cord to each of them one by one. Sometimes it turns out that a certain Ethernet connector is configured in bridge mode for a set-top box.

Among the manufacturers network technology The specified IP addresses for their equipment are usually chosen only by D-Link and sometimes Netgear.

Problems logging into your router personal account

Have you completed all the steps correctly? However, you can’t log in to 192.168.0.1 using the admin login and admin password? You will find the advice "" useful. The list of actions is similar, but you need to use the 192.168.0.0/24 subnet.

Brief list of actions:

If nothing helps?

In this case, we can only recommend one thing to you. Note that this method is the most extreme. We are now talking about hard reset all settings and characteristics of the equipment. Execute necessary actions you can by pressing the small button Reset. It is a hole and is located on the back panel of the device.

Use a toothpick or a paperclip, and with the router running, hold it for 15 seconds. As soon as you start performing these steps, the device should wink at you with indicators on the front and go into reboot mode.

After you follow this advice, any device settings will be reset and the router will return to its factory specifications.

Hello, more and more often in the comments I receive the same question “I can’t access the router settings at https://192.168.1.1/”. Which was very strange for me since I had never encountered such a problem when setting up a router. Therefore, I decided to ask in more detail the people who left a comment about the entire path they took when trying to enter Personal Area. And it seems to me that he identified all the problems that could arise. I will try to explain them all in as much detail as possible.

Input errors when logging in to 192.168.1.1

It will probably seem to you that I was too meticulous in approaching those. BUT in fact, as statistics show, the main problem with entering the address is not correct input it into the address bar. Therefore, I advise you to pay close attention to this, I myself sometimes put an extra number at the end (example: 192 168 1 1 1), or I write the address twice at the beginning (example: 192 192 168 1 1). Of course, I will quickly correct this, but as you can see, even experienced people make mistakes. It is also a common mistake to confuse a comma with a period. There is only one conclusion: be careful.

Connecting the router to the computer

At initial setup router or after bringing the router, from inexperienced user, there could be a problem with the incorrect connection of the wires to the router. It can sometimes confuse the Internet port with the LAN (local area network) port. So remember the basic rules for any router: Each router has 2 types of ports, this is one port to which the Internet provider’s wire is connected - which can be called on the router as “INTERNET”, “WAN”, it will also be marked with a special color. The second type of ports can be several; they are used to connect to the router various devices– most often this port is designated on the router as “LAN”, and is highlighted in a color different from the “Internet” port. Detailed diagram. Let's now look at how to find out that everything is fine with the connection.

As you can see in the picture, the "Internet" port is highlighted in blue, and the "LAN" port is highlighted yellow. Having connected a laptop or computer to the router, the “LAN” light on one of the ports should blink on the router, in this case 1st. This will mean that the router has successfully connected to the computer’s network card.

If the light does not blink, this may mean that the computer's network card is not turned on. You need to enable it. You can do this by logging into your operating system and turn on the network.

For Windows XP

  1. Start - Control Panel - find “Network Connections”.
  2. Connect via local network, right-click and select “Enable”.

For Windows 7.8

  1. In the lower right corner (near the clock) there will be a network icon in the form of a monitor, click on it and select “Network and Sharing Center”.
  2. In the window that opens, in the left column, select “Change adapter settings.”
  3. Connect via local network or Ethernet, right-click and select “Enable”.

After this, the light on the router should blink and you can try to log in to 192.168.1.1. If that doesn't work, read on.

192.168.1.1 is not the address of your router

It often happens that the router address is not what you enter, or it was changed during the router setup. Therefore, by entering the address that we are discussing, you have nothing left to do. Therefore you should. If we describe the article the link to which I gave earlier in brief, then you need to go to network settings OS and in the properties of the network card, look at the address it received. And the address against which the name contains the words “Gateway” will be the address of the router.

We enter it and proceed to the settings. If it is not there, read on.

The device does not receive an IP address automatically.

As you probably understood from the title, it happens that the router does not transfer the IP address to your computer. At the same time, in the network information, the IP address looks something like this: 169.xxx.xxx.xxx, where x is any number.

This may mean that the router is disabled DHCP protocol, or the DHCP service is disabled in Windows itself. To solve this problem, you can try to resume the service, but there is a faster and less the hard way. You just need to register static settings ip addresses. The settings should be like this:

Where to go to make settings is well described in.

Once you have made the settings, you should be able to easily enter the router settings.
.

192 168 1 1 Login and Password admin are not suitable

It happens that everything is in order and when you type the address of your router in the address bar of your browser, the authorization window appears. Where you are asked to enter your login and password, on most routers the default login and password is admin. But what to do if it doesn’t fit, you can refer to the table of logins and passwords by default, it will be . If standard password and the login doesn’t work, it means it has been changed, and in this case, to log into your router’s personal account, you will have to reset the router’s settings to standard. This can be done by pressing the “Reset” button and holding it for a while. After this, the standard login and password will work, but the router will need to be reconfigured for your network. On the pages of my website you can find detailed description settings and where the reset button is located on your router.

Blocking an address by an antivirus firewall

Problem with 192.168.1.1 address being blocked by firewall or antivirus program, is very rare. It can be resolved very simply by temporarily disabling your antivirus and pausing the firewall.

Browser infected with virus

This problem is also rare, but thanks to the advent of the ability to insert extensions in browsers, it is gaining momentum. Since some virus extensions in the browser can redirect the address. The long-term solution to this problem is to check your browser for viruses, disable the entire extension, etc. I advise you to just use a different browser. Also, when setting up your router, disconnect the Internet from it, the virus will not be active and you will be able to log into your router without any problems.

I hope this article will help you if, after trying all the methods, nothing came of it. Then I ask you to describe in detail the scheme of your actions in the comments, I’ll try to figure it out. Also, those who know of any other problems with entering the router settings, please also write in the comments.

They work stably for years and do not create any problems for their owner. But sometimes troubles happen. One of typical problems when using the router, these are problems with entering its settings or the so-called web interface. Users simply cannot go into the router settings to change or configure anything. In this article we will look at a number of popular reasons that can lead to this problem.

Reason No. 1. The router is not working.

Before you try, you need to make sure that the router is working at all. It must be connected to the power supply and its activity indicators must be lit. If the router is connected to power, but the indicators do not light up, then most likely it is completely out of order. Also in such a situation, the power adapter may break down.

Reason No. 2. Problem connecting to the computer.

If the router is turned on and working, but you still cannot enter the settings, then next you should check the connection of the router to the computer. Make sure the network cable is properly connected to network card computer and router connector. Disconnect the cable and try connecting it again. When connecting, the cable must be inserted with slight force until it stops.

You also need to check the functionality of the cable itself. Try using it to connect your computer to your computer or replace the cable with a new one.

Another one possible problem when connecting the router to the computer, this means selecting the wrong connector on the router. On the back panel of the router there are several connectors for connecting a network cable. As a rule, these are 4 connectors for connecting computers and one connector for connecting to the Internet. The connector for connecting to the Internet is indicated by the inscription “WAN” or “Internet”. In order for you to be able to access the router settings, the computer must be connected to one of the four regular connectors. You cannot connect a computer to the “WAN” or “Internet” connector.

If you are trying to access the router settings via Wi-Fi connection, then you need to take into account that this feature can be disabled in the settings. In this case, to access the settings, you need to connect to the router via cable.

Reason No. 3. Incorrect IP address.

If you cannot enter the router settings, then you may be entering the wrong IP address. Typically, routers use the IP address 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. But, if both of these IP addresses are not suitable, then you can look at the properties of your network connection. The field called “Default Gateway” will indicate the IP you need.

Reason #4. The router is frozen.

If you cannot log into your router, it may be frozen. Unplug it from the power supply and plug it back in. After that, wait a few minutes for it to load and try to go into the settings. If this does not help, then perhaps the router freezes immediately after booting; in such cases, resetting the router to factory settings may help. On the back panel of the router there is a small button recessed into the case with the inscription “Reset”. Press this button and hold for a few seconds. This procedure is for factory settings.

Reason No. 5. The computer does not receive an IP address from the router.

In order for you to be able to access the router settings, your computer must receive an IP address from the router. In other words, it should work between you and the router the local network. If your computer does not receive an IP address, the network will not work and you will not be able to enter the router settings.

In order for your computer to receive an IP address from the router, open the properties of your network connection.

In the next window, you need to enable the “Obtain an IP address automatically” and “Obtain DNS server address automatically” functions.

After that, close all windows by clicking on the “Ok” button. Now your computer will be able to obtain an IP address from the router.

Reason No. 6. Not correct login or password.

If, when you try to enter the router settings, you enter a message about the wrong password or, it means you. The easiest option in this situation is to reset the router to factory settings using the RESET button.
