For several years now I have been a user of smartphones on the Android platform. I’m also familiar with iOS devices, but, to be honest, somehow I didn’t develop a friendship with them. It’s hard to explain: I just didn’t like it - that’s all. I wanted to get to know Winphones better, but for the sake of this I’m not ready to sacrifice 200-300 US dollars (which is how much the average models on this OS previously cost). Fortunately, in mid-2014, Microsoft allowed not only a few “selected” companies like Nokia and HTC to make Winphones. As a result, today on the shelves of electronics stores you can see many more Windows smartphones from many brands, including not very large ones. The result of this is a noticeable reduction in the cost of gadgets on the Windows Phone platform.
The most inexpensive Winphone today can be purchased for 3,990 rubles, this is Highscreen WinJoy. In my humble opinion, the price is more than attractive, but I chose a more expensive model for testing - Highscreen WinWin for 4,490 rubles. Actually, I’ll talk about it below.
Equipment
The Highscreen WinWin package is the first difference from its cheaper brother. In addition to the usual components - charger, microUSB-USB cable, warranty, headphones and instructions - this model comes with two replaceable back panels. The first is made of black velvety soft-touch plastic, while the second is made of yellow matte plastic. That is, if you wish, you can quickly and easily “update” the appearance of your smartphone. By the way, many Highscreen models on Android also come with several interchangeable backs - for example, the Highscreen Omega Prime Mini comes with five covers.
As for the box in which all of the above is placed, it is designed quite unusually - you won’t confuse it with any other brand. The box is made of rough rough cardboard. The name of the model is written on its side faces, and on the top part the smartphone itself is depicted as if “in section.” This figure shows where each component of the device is located, and also indicates the main technical characteristics of the gadget.
Appearance
The first thing worth saying about Highscreen WinWin is that the device is quite compact (126 x 64 x 10.5 mm), it fits comfortably in the hand and can easily be hidden in a pocket, including a shirt pocket. The model is suitable for both men and girls – the colors also contribute to this. As I already said, the device comes with two back panels: yellow and black.
I have often seen smartphones with replaceable panels that do not fit tightly to the main body of the device. Here there is no such problem, the panels fit like a glove, and in general the build quality was pleasantly surprising, everything is neat and without flaws.
The volume and power keys are located on the side ends: the first on the left, the second, respectively, on the right. I note that the buttons are black, they are built into the main body of the smartphone, however, they go well with both the black and yellow panels.
On the front side, in addition to the screen, there is a front camera, a speaker, as well as light and proximity sensors. Below the display are three touch control keys with white backlight. In general, in Windows Phone smartphones they are extremely rarely displayed on the screen.
At the top of the back side of the Highscreen WinWin there is a rear camera and an LED flash. At the bottom there is a multimedia speaker mesh.

Display In the world of Android smartphones, gigantism is successfully progressing; a device with a 4.5-inch screen already seems tiny. As for Winphones, this “symptom” is not yet so noticeable, and Highscreen WinWin is a good confirmation of this. The device is equipped with a 4-inch display with a resolution of 480 by 800 pixels. Yes, the specifications are budget and, to be honest, I was not expecting very good image quality, but the screen pleasantly surprised me.
Due to the relatively small diagonal, the resolution used seems quite appropriate. The picture does not look grainy, quite the opposite: it is quite “smooth”. The color reproduction is also okay, as is the brightness level. For those who don’t know, I’ll say that absolutely all smartphones on the Windows Phone platform are based on Qualcomm chipsets, and the Highscreen WinWin model was no exception to the rule. This model uses a quad-core 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 MSM8212 processor. As befits all Winphones, the model in question works very quickly, even despite the presence of a 512 MB RAM module. I dare say that a device with exactly the same hardware, but on Android, would work slower.
It’s quite possible to play on the Highscreen WinWin, but not very demanding games; still, don’t forget that the device has 512 MB of RAM. Meanwhile, for “serious” 3D titles on Winphones you need at least 1 GB of RAM.
The chipset used in Highscreen WinWin implies the presence of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. There is also a navigation module here, and not just a simple GPS, but a GPS/GLONASS that works with American and Russian satellites. I was pleased with the speed of searching for satellites, it takes literally a few seconds, and the signal reception level is good. In general, I did not find any problems with the listed wireless adapters.
Of course, Highscreen WinWin also has 3G support. Moreover, the smartphone has two slots for SIM cards. Therefore, you can insert a personal SIM card into one, and a work SIM card into the other. Or use one for calls and the second for the Internet. It's up to you to decide, in any case, the presence of two slots for SIM cards is a “plus”.

The Highscreen WinWin model operates under the Windows Phone 8.1 operating system. The interface of this smartphone has not undergone any changes or additions; everything is standard for devices on this platform - tiles with resizable sizes and a variety of colors. It looks beautiful, and the desktop can be customized to suit you. Regarding the availability of various applications, yes, there are fewer of them in the Windows Marketplace than in Google Play, but all the popular and common programs are there.
Battery
I won’t open anyone’s eyes now by saying that one of the main “troubles” of Android smartphones is their short battery life. Such a device with a 2,000 mAh battery lasts approximately 1-1.5 days. As for Winphones, the battery life indicators are noticeably better. The Highscreen WinWin model is equipped with a 2,000 mAh battery, and the device needs to be recharged no more than once every 2.5 days. In my opinion, this is very good.Cameras
The Highscreen WinWin does not pretend to be a high-quality camera; in principle, this is understandable given the price of the smartphone. The gadget uses a 5-megapixel main camera module, but, unlike most of its classmates, this camera has autofocus, which significantly improves the quality of photos. There is also an LED flash. There’s nothing special to say about the front camera, it’s just there (unlike many budget cameras) and has a resolution of 0.3 megapixels, that is, you can chat on Skype.
