In the browser Mozilla Firefox a system of profiles is used, for each of which their own own settings and parameters. Changes made by users to browser settings are recorded in a file that is stored separately from the main program components. Even if Firefox is uninstalled and installed (you can read about how to install the Mozilla Firefox browser) again, all settings, bookmarks (you can read more about working with bookmarks) and other user data will remain available. The browser also provides special component for account management, with which you can delete a profile in Firefox, which is what we’ll talk about today.
Account Manager
To launch the profile management component, you will need:
- Close the running copy of the browser by clicking on the menu button on the right top corner window and selecting “Exit FireFox”.
- Press the “Windows” + “R” key combination on your keyboard.
- In the window that opens, enter the command “Firefox.exe –p) and press the Enter key, as a result of which the account management component should open, from where you can delete the profile in Firefox.
Here's what the described procedure looks like in practice:
A list of available profiles will be displayed in the window that appears. If you click on the “Create” button, a new account will be connected with standard settings. By selecting it and launching the browser, you can configure the browser differently, and then quickly switch between settings using this window whenever you want. Passwords, history, tab display options and home page - all browser options will be pulled from the selected profile.
To make it easier to distinguish profiles from each other, you can assign names to them using the “Rename” button. If you want FireFox to open the profile manager every time it starts, you will need to click on each account in the list one by one and uncheck the “Launch the selected profile without prompting” checkbox.
Deleting a profile
And, accordingly, in order to delete a profile in Firefox, you need to use the “Delete” button, after which you will need to confirm the operation being performed in the following pop-up notification:
Important! Please read this warning carefully. You must understand that along with the profile, saved passwords, bookmarks and other data are also deleted, and it is not possible to cancel the procedure. Use profile deletion only in extreme cases.
If deleting a profile is done in order to, then it is better to use another function, which is called “FireFox setup” and is available from the “about:support” page. This function rolls back all changes made to the browser, but retains important user data.

To begin with, I will, of course, tell you how to synchronize Firefox bookmarks. First, you will need to create a special account and then log into it, after which the system will automatically transfer your links to the server over an encrypted connection. So, to create an account you need:
- Launch the browser.
- Click the menu button on the toolbar.
- Click on the “Enter synchronization” button.
- Read welcome message and click on the “Start” button.
After this, a standard registration form will be shown, in which you will need to specify the user’s email, password and year of birth. By clicking on the “Registration” button you will be sent specified address A confirmation email will be sent, from which you need to follow a link, which is a standard and common procedure.
Important! After account creation is completed, simply log into the created account on another computer or other device, and Mozilla synchronization bookmarking will start automatically. You can log in from the main menu of the browser by clicking on the “Login synchronization” button mentioned above.
Other browsers
It so happens that many users prefer to view their favorite sites alternately in several browsers. For example, a browser may be installed on your work computer, and Firefox on your home computer. This circumstance requires some universal solution, and its name is Xmarks.
This extension is present in the catalogs of almost all modern browsers, including Opera, Google Chrome, Safari, and others, less popular programs. Setting up synchronization
Setting up synchronization in Mozilla is quite simple, just like in other browsers.
Launch Mozilla Firefox, open its menu and select “Enter Sync”.
You will be taken to the synchronization settings section, where you need to click “Create an account”.
Next time you can get to the same settings section as follows:
Open your browser menu and select “Settings”.
Go to the section “ Firefox account”.
A registration page will open. Fill out a short form, indicating the email to which you will register an account in Firefox, create and indicate a password, as well as your age. Click “Create an account”.
On the next page, you can choose which browser data you would like to sync with your newly created Mozilla account. For example, you can sync only bookmarks or bookmarks with passwords if you don't need the rest. But I recommend leaving everything for synchronization! Because it doesn’t take up space and, as they say, it won’t be superfluous. Maybe something will come in handy later.
Log in to your email and find there a letter from FireFox Account with the subject “Confirm your address Email…” or similar. In the letter, click “Confirm email”.
Synchronization setup is ready!
Now all you have to do is log in to the Mozilla FireFox account you just created on some other device, for example, on a smartphone, and due to synchronization you will see there all the passwords that you saved on another device, bookmarks, settings, etc. (depending on what selected for synchronization).
Changing sync settings
If you need to change synchronization settings, for example, disable synchronization of any data or, conversely, enable it, and also if you need to change your account, then you can do all this in the “Settings” - “Firefox Account” section.
There, select, if necessary, the desired data to be synchronized. If you want to get out account and create a new one or simply log into another one, click “Disconnect” and the corresponding buttons will appear for logging into your account and creating a new one.
By clicking “Account Management” you will be taken to Personal Area your Firefox account, where you can: change your password; put an avatar; indicate the name; indicate an additional email address; view the devices on which you are logged into this account; delete your account (usually there is no point in this).
