What I didn't like

I didn't find it.

What I liked

The battery lasts a long time, it’s comfortable in the hand, it’s thin, the built-in memory is huge, the speaker plays loudly, the music in the headphones sounds professional, and not like it’s coming from a toilet. I also like that when talking, you can lean your ear not only to the speaker, but also to the screen. Heard everywhere

What I didn't like

Not capable of heavy applications.
It can sometimes get dull, it gets dull when you turn the screen.
The rear camera is a shame to talk about.

What I liked

Not a bad screen, although the stars are missing from the sky, good battery, copes well with all tasks no higher than heavy games. dWorthy front camera 1.3 mp

What I didn't like

The camera is very bad. .as they wrote before me, it’s as if she doesn’t exist. even old phone, takes better photos!!! Memory card fails! ! I bought it to replace Huawei. But very disappointed (((((

What I liked

convenient size, not heavy. bright colors.

What I didn't like

The battery is discharged after 2 hours of continuous use, the camera can be said to be missing, everything else slows down by 99.9%

What I liked

The colors on the screen are bright and comfortable to hold.

What I didn't like

Weak camera...the location of the power button and charging socket...inconvenient

What I liked

Everything is fine

What I didn't like

No 4g - but it shouldn't be there.

What I liked

1. Workmanship. 2. Pleasant tactile sensations - you can feel the Thing in your hands. 3. Great screen. 4. Decent battery.

What I didn't like

This is a step or even two steps back compared to Tab 3!:
1) the camera has deteriorated (it was 5mp and became 3.2)
2) lack of a proximity sensor (Table 3 has it), now when making a call the screen simply locks
3) lack of a light sensor (there is one in Table 3)
4) lack of tint touch buttons(in Table 3 they are highlighted)
5) 4 cores are +2 cores and -300 MHz, which did not cause a strong increase in performance, but caused the tablet to overheat (Table 3 has 2 cores of 1.5 each)
6) sound: on tab 3 it’s stereo, but on tab 4 we saved money and put it in mono!
7) on Tab 3 the design is more stylish, and on Tab 4 it is childish

What I liked

Android 4.4.2 out of the box and this is the only advantage compared to Tab 3 which can also be updated to 4.4.2

What I didn't like

The battery is rather weak, it strains a small number of playable video formats, I had to download a program for conversion for it.
In general, if you choose from one that is not expensive and of good quality, it will do just fine.

What I liked

The screen colors are bright and saturated, the back wall is ribbed, comfortable to hold, fast, games fly, overall justifies the price.

What I didn't like

It discharges really quickly, the battery is its main drawback. I tried charging from Lenova, for some reason he didn’t like it.

What I liked

4 cores are quite noticeable in operation. The image is quite good. Nice looking model.

What I didn't like

I have no comments about this model)

What I liked

Excellent tablet) Reacts quickly, very functional and convenient) I was pleased with the presence of a good front camera and the ability to make calls with of this device)

What I didn't like

Due to the fact that the edges on the sides are small, it happens that when you hold it in your left hand and scroll through a page on the Internet with your right, your left finger hits the screen and the sensor slows down. But it's nothing

The tablet's 8-inch screen is very convenient; it is not small, but at the same time small. Due to their small size portable devices Fits even in a small bag and inside jacket pockets. At the same time, the designated diagonal allows you to comfortably watch movies, read books and browse the Internet.

However, build quality and optimization also play an important role when choosing, because a convenient form factor will not protect the user from glitches and quick breakdowns. Therefore, we decided to review 8-inch Samsung tablets Galaxy Tab, because it is the Koreans who are among the the best manufacturers portable devices.

Samsung 8-inch tablets – rating 2018

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM-T355 16 GB

Low price, beautiful appearance and good assembly - all this applies to the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM-T355. The device is distinguished by a simple “filling”, represented by Adreno 306 graphics and a Snapdragon 410 processor. This is not enough for games, but the device copes with all other tasks without problems. Among the significant disadvantages in reviews of the tablet, buyers highlight only the low resolution of 1024x768 pixels. At a cost of 12,000 rubles, I would like to see an HD display. In addition, it would hardly increase the load on the installed hardware.

Advantages:

  • presence of a SIM card slot and support for fourth generation networks
  • The battery lasts for a confident day of work
  • excellent system performance in any task
  • good brightness reserve and stable operation in the 4G network

Flaws:

  • low pixel density
  • cameras leave much to be desired
  • suspended value

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 SM-T385 16 GB

Next up is another good 8-inch tablet from Samsung from the A line. For a few extra thousand, the user will receive a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, a 425 processor from Qualcomm, as well as Adreno 308 graphics. Such “stuffing” with an HD screen can even cope with some modern games. An important advantage of the device is also the slot for nano SIM and support for all LTE bands common in the Russian Federation. The battery of the tablet computer is also not satisfactory, because the device can run on it for about 14 hours with continuous video playback. This device could not become an ideal tablet computer only because of the lack of a fingerprint scanner and backlit touch keys.

Advantages:

  • excellent color rendition and high display brightness
  • uninterrupted operation in 4G networks
  • productive hardware platform
  • lasts a very long time on one charge
  • fresh operating system
  • build quality
  • can be used as a smartphone

Flaws:

  • no backlighting of buttons under the screen
  • no fingerprint scanner

Samsung Galaxy Tab S 8.4 SM-T705 16 GB

If an 8-inch screen diagonal is just a little short of ideal for you, then the Galaxy Tab S 8.4 is your choice. The tablet has a first-class display with a resolution of 2560x1600 pixels (Super AMOLED Plus technology), characterized by a high brightness reserve. Other advantages of the device under review include an infrared port, a micro SIM tray and stereo speakers, which provide decent sound even by modern standards. The tablet works quickly, but taking into account not the most energy-efficient hardware and high resolution The matrix battery should have been set to more than 4900 mAh.

Advantages:

  • the design of the device remains relevant to this day
  • clear, bright and true-to-color matrix
  • there is a mode cell phone, IRDA and stereo speakers
  • smooth operation in everyday tasks
  • good quality camera
  • built-in fingerprint scanner

Flaws:

  • When loaded, the battery lasts for a maximum of 3 hours of use
  • for its cost, 16 GB of built-in storage is not enough by today's standards

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 8.0 SM-T360 16 GB

Most tablets quickly become unusable even after minor impacts. What can we say about contact with sand or water, which are almost always detrimental to electronic components. However, for the Samsung Galaxy Tab Active 8.0 there is none mentioned problems. This rugged tablet has a reinforced design that can withstand serious drops. The device is also not afraid of immersion in sand and liquid, so you can take it with you on vacation. One more dignity Galaxy The Tab Active 8.0 is a bundled stylus that not only improves the usability of the device in some scenarios, but is also suitable for creative people.

Advantages:

  • convenient design and excellent protection of the case from dust and water
  • good stylus included with the device
  • great display if you don't need high ppi
  • present NFC module and good stereo speakers
  • Availability of 4G and phone functions
  • unique design

Flaws:

  • Android version 4.4
  • dim display – in the sun the matrix does not have enough brightness

Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 SM-T719 LTE 32 GB

A combination of great design, impressive power, incredible convenience and affordable price. This is exactly what the 8-inch Galaxy Tab C2 tablet computer, available in Russian stores from 23 thousand rubles. Wonderful display with a resolution of 2048 by 1536 pixels, made using technology Super AMOLED, as well as a very powerful hardware platform, suitable even for modern games, make this device a very attractive solution for any task. In addition, there is also a SIM card tray, so you can access the Internet from the tablet and make calls just like from a regular mobile phone anywhere.

Advantages:

  • lightness, compactness and recognizable appearance
  • good autonomy indicators
  • gorgeous matrix and excellent ergonomics
  • if you like to play, then the device will also please you
  • Read SD cards up to 128 GB
  • excellent combination of parameters and cost

Flaws:

  • plastic cover scratches easily
  • mediocre main camera without flash

It's no secret that modern mobile technologies gradually and unconditionally invade the life of every person without exception. And this, in our opinion, is a very positive phenomenon. Think for yourself, it’s nice to have at your disposal a device that, having good performance performance and relative big screen, will be housed in a fairly small and lightweight case. It’s good to type and edit text, watch videos on the go, play your favorite games and at the same time be spared the need to squint at a small smartphone screen or carry a heavy laptop. Recently, a tablet has become such a necessary help. Having completely “killed” the netbook market, it has become an integral part modern man, as I did at one time mobile phone. And it is worth noting that the Korean company Samsung played one of the leading roles in this state of affairs. The line of devices from this manufacturer is expanding every year, constantly introducing advanced technologies and giving users new opportunities.

The above was confirmed by the one that came to us for testing. This 8" device is prominent representative already the fourth generation of tablets from the Korean manufacturer. The gadget has a good hardware platform, represented by a tandem of a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and a Qualcomm Adreno 305 graphics accelerator, which run the latest Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. But the main highlight of the new product, in our opinion, is support for new generation mobile networks - 4G LTE. We will try to paint a more detailed picture later in our review.

Delivery and configuration

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE arrived in our cozy test laboratory without packaging or any accessories. But taking into account previous experience in using equipment from the Korean manufacturer, and analyzing the available information from the official website, some useful conclusions can be drawn. Traditionally for Samsung, which cares about the environment around us, its new products are delivered to the market in thick gray packaging made from recycled cardboard. As usual, on the front of these boxes there is an image of the device being sold, and on the sides and back you can find all the necessary information about the package. Inside potential buyer will most likely find:

  • charger;
  • USB cable;
  • user manual.

In short, we have before us an example of traditional oriental minimalism with all its pros and cons. It is also worth noting that for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE tablet, for greater safety and ease of use, you can separately purchase a rather convenient branded case-cover.

Appearance, arrangement of elements

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE tablet is made in a classic corporate style. IN in this case in its latest iteration, which begins its countdown from the moment of Samsung's announcement Galaxy Note 4. Oddly enough, despite the rather boring and largely repeated design, the device looks quite interesting and pleasant. One might even say that the device has a rather stylish and very practical appearance, especially in its white version. It is also worth noting that a black version of this new product is also available for sale.

Despite the use of an 8-inch display, the tablet is quite compact and easy to use. This is also accompanied by the insignificant thickness and low weight of the device - only 7.9 mm and 325 g, respectively. It is convenient to work with it, holding the device even with one hand. With such modest dimensions, the tablet can easily be transported: it can easily be placed in a small handbag or coat pocket.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE is made of good quality plastic that is pleasant to the touch. The build quality is not satisfactory: with moderate attempts, deformation and creaking do not occur. However, if there is strong pressure on the glass, streaks appear on the display. The design elements of the device fit well. There are only minor gaps between the body and the chrome display surround. There are no other complaints.

The front side of the tablet is almost completely covered with protective glass, the name of which Samsung for some reason leaves secret. It has a rather weak oleophobic coating, so the screen is covered with fingerprints, which are clearly visible. But you shouldn’t attach much importance to this, since fingerprints and other dirt can be very easily removed with an ordinary microfiber cloth.

Along the contour of the display there is a chrome-plated plastic frame, which rises slightly above the glass. Except beautiful element decor, it serves to protect it in case of falls and allows you to safely place the tablet on flat surfaces with the screen down, without fear for its safety.

The frames around the display are quite small: 17.5 mm at the top and bottom, and 7 mm on the sides. Therefore, when holding the device, you need to be extremely careful not to get your thumbs on the screen.

Above the display of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE there are: a front camera and speaker. No other sensors or indicators that are already familiar to us were found.

Below the screen there are three standard buttons: one mechanical and two touch. It is worth noting that starting with the release of the Samsung Galaxy S5, the “Menu” button in the proprietary shell has changed its former purpose. Now the default action is to call the "Dispatcher" running applications" And in order to activate what is familiar to many context menu, you need to keep the button pressed.

On the top edge of the device there is only a 3.5 mm audio jack for a headset.

The entire main supply of elements is concentrated on the right side of the tablet. Here are located: the “Power” button, volume rocker, SIM card slot and card slot microSD memory.

The left side is completely free of any elements.

On the bottom edge of the tablet there is a micro-USB port and a microphone hole.

The entire back side of the device, which has quite convenient thinning around the edges, is made of textured plastic. It looks attractive and feels pleasant to the touch. But I still wanted a tablet from such a famous manufacturer to be equipped with a soft-touch coating.

At the top of the back of the case is the main camera lens. Unfortunately, we did not find any signs of an LED flash. The Samsung logo is placed in the center. The speaker grille is visible in the lower right corner. And at the very bottom there is standard technical information.

Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE looks pretty good and is a fairly easy-to-use device.

The new product is equipped with a very good 8-inch screen with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The pixel density is at 188 ppi, which is quite average. Overall, this is quite sufficient for everyday use and display. various information. Of course, if you set your mind to it, you can find individual pixels, and the fonts lack clarity in places. But otherwise, the display provides a pretty good picture, considering that the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE is positioned as budget device within the Samsung Galaxy tablet line.

The tablet is equipped with a TFT matrix (in our opinion, the TFT-PLS version is used), which has high contrast and excellent viewing angles without color distortion. In principle, there are no complaints about the detail of the image. Everything is at a good level. I'm pleased with the color rendition. It is distinguished by colorful and saturated colors, but at the same time it has rather soft shades, which has a positive effect on the perception of the picture as a whole.

It is also worth saying a few words about the display backlight. It has a good adjustment range and high, uniform brightness, allowing you to work even outdoors on a sunny day. Despite the weak anti-glare filter, the image is clearly visible and the text is quite readable. True, the backlight adjustment is carried out only in manual mode, since the tablet does not have an ambient light sensor.

The screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE has a good built-in sensor with support for Multi-touch technology, which processes up to ten simultaneous clicks. The display can be described as quite sensitive, with good time response. The screen responds quickly to touches, and sliding your fingers across protective glass quite pleasant and does not cause discomfort. As usual for matrices of this class, there is no support for working with gloves.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE model is equipped with a good multimedia speaker, which is located on the back of the case, in the lower right corner. Despite small sizes, it is loud enough and makes quite a good impression. The sound is clear, without noticeable distortion. The tablet can easily be used for games, watching videos and calls without additional devices. The detailing of the frequency range is pleasant to the ear. There are clearly defined high and mid frequencies. There's even a hint of bass. And if you connect high-quality headphones, the sound becomes even more pleasant. Additional volume appears, and the detail of the frequency range becomes more noticeable.

Also among the pleasant features of the new product is the presence of an interesting “Adapt Sound” option in the sound settings. With its help, you can more precisely adjust the sound of the device to specific headphones. In our case, after passing a special test, the sound became more vibrant and rich.

The tablet also has a speaker. It has a good and moderately loud sound, providing a pleasant transmission of the interlocutor's voice. Considering that we have a tablet in front of us and not a smartphone, it is still more natural and comfortable to use a headset.

Camera

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE equipped standard set cameras: main and front.

The main one has a 3-megapixel module with an f/2.6 aperture. It is capable of shooting video with a resolution of up to 720p at 30 fps. Let us remember that the previous generation of tablets was equipped with a 5 megapixel module. We were also surprised by the lack of autofocus and flash. These factors negatively affect the quality of the resulting photographs. Therefore, you can’t count on really good shots, but under optimal lighting conditions you can get pretty good shots.

In turn, the front samsung camera Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE is equipped with a 1.3-megapixel module with f/2.8 aperture. It can record video at 480p resolution at 30 fps. These characteristics are quite sufficient for all kinds of web conferences and video calls via Skype.

Branded software, which is responsible for controlling the operation of cameras, is distinguished by a good level of performance and a fairly functional interface. For ease of use, the camera settings already have several preset modes shooting. A number of color filters are also available to the user. In general, everything was done to a very high standard.

User Interface

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE comes preloaded with Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system, which is enhanced latest version proprietary TouchWiz Nature UX 3.0 shell for tablets. Such a tandem traditionally offers a wide range of capabilities, “wrapped” in a bright and quite pleasant appearance.

The interface has modern design, and the speed of its work does not cause any particular complaints. Manipulations with the operating system take place quite quickly and clearly, only occasionally you notice minor slowdowns, for example, when going to a list installed applications.

On the tablet's lock screen, in addition to displaying the time and date, the user has access to up to 5 applications with the ability to quick launch. The device owner can edit and configure this list independently from the corresponding menu. In addition, you can easily change the wallpaper on the screen and add visual effects when unlocked. From here you also have access to the notification shade and quick settings. In this submenu you can quickly set the brightness of the display backlight and the overall volume. Also, using a horizontally scrollable list, it is possible to activate various functions tablet, up to 10 pieces, which are displayed by default. To access the rest, you need to click on the corresponding icon (squares with arrows) and make a selection. And for deeper manipulations with the device, you need to go to the main settings menu, which can be accessed by clicking on the gear icon.

The tablet's desktop surface can accommodate up to seven screens, from each of which you can access the menu of installed applications and Google search. Both of these elements are at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise, things are the same as in a standard operating room. Android system: You can add shortcuts, create folders and add widgets.

A distinctive feature of the TouchWiz Nature UX 3.0 proprietary shell is a rather convenient and interestingly redrawn menu of running applications. It looks like a horizontal line at the bottom of the screen that displays thumbnails of applications. To close previously running programs, just swipe them up or down. If necessary, you can simply access the “Task Manager” from here, where you can view active and loaded tasks, as well as assess the status of the tablet’s RAM and ROM.

A feature that allows you to simultaneously work with two independent applications deserves special attention. To activate it, you need to swipe left from the right edge of the screen, thereby opening the shortcut menu available programs. This list can be edited by adding or removing necessary for the user programs. Application windows can be easily resized, opened and closed, or swapped around by simply dragging the dot between them. It is also possible to transfer information such as images and text. Overall, a fairly easy-to-use feature that saves time. An example is working with a browser and mail, when you need to quickly send information found on the network without having to constantly switch between applications.

On at the moment the list of supported programs is quite limited (mostly standard or proprietary applications). It is quite possible that over time, the development of this idea will make it possible to implement true multitasking and optimize work mobile devices. And if for some reason you are not satisfied with the operation of this function, you can easily disable it if desired.

Hardware platform and performance

Despite the fact that Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE belongs to the tablet class entry level, it is based on a very popular and quite productive solution. The “heart” of the new product is a 4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor (MSM8226) with a maximum clock frequency of 1.2 GHz and an L2 cache memory capacity of 1 MB. It is manufactured based on the ARM Cortex-A7 microarchitecture, according to 28nm technological process. The integrated graphics uses a Qualcomm Adreno 305 adapter with an operating clock frequency of 450 MHz and OpenGL support ES 3.0, OpenVG 1.1, OpenCL 1.2 and DirectX 9.0c. The amount of RAM is a non-standard 1.5 GB, which is more than enough to solve all the tasks. The tablet is equipped with a built-in memory of 16 GB, of which 11.9 GB is available to the user. The device also supports microSD memory cards up to 64 GB.

Although the performance of this model cannot be called record-breaking, it is more than enough to perform almost all everyday tasks, including running relatively demanding and resource-intensive applications such as modern games.

Mobile surfing, checking email, watching videos - all these tasks will not cause any difficulties in the operation of the device. And the level of gaming performance of the tablet is clearly visible in games such as Asphalt 8: Airborne and Dead Trigger 2. The first, without any visible problems worked for maximum settings graphics, while showing a good level of FPS. In the second case, I had to lower the level of detail to medium values, but otherwise the gameplay did not cause any difficulties.

During testing, we noticed only slight heating of the tablet, the main source of which was located in the lower part of the case, near the micro-USB connector.

Communications

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE model supports all modern mobile networks, including not only the familiar GSM, WCDMA / HSPA+, but also high-speed 4G LTE:

  • 2G GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900;
  • 3G WCDMA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100;
  • 4G LTE 800 / 850 / 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600.

Thus, the new product allows phone calls. The quality of voice transmission was at a good level: there were no interruptions or independent drops. But it is worth considering that this also depends on the telecom operator used.

In our case communication capabilities tablet presented Bluetooth modules 4.0 and dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n (2.4 / 5 GHz). Also available Wi-Fi functions Direct and Wi-Fi Hotspot.

Wi-Fi data transfer speed ( wired connection 100 Mbit/s, router supporting the 802.11n standard) shows the following results: up to 45 Mbit/s for receiving and up to 40 Mbit/s for sending. It is worth recognizing these as good results. Search Wi-Fi points and connecting to them is very fast, and established connection has good stability.

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE is equipped with modules GPS systems and GLONASS, which provide fairly fast and accurate location determination. The quality of work is at a good level: on average, during testing, the tablet found approximately 20 satellites and successfully connected to almost all of them. At the same time, the location accuracy was only 4 meters.

Autonomous operation

The tested model is equipped with a non-removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4450 mAh. With a moderate load and performing everyday tasks (surfing the Internet, checking email, listening to music), this capacity is enough for more than two days of battery life.

Testing battery life showed the following results. While watching HD video at 50% display brightness and Wi-Fi and GPS tablet worked for almost 12.5 hours. In the case of a gaming simulation using Epic Citadel (“Guided Tour” mode), the device lasted almost 4.5 hours with 100% display brightness and Wi-Fi and GPS modules turned on. The results of the GFXBench benchmark are also worth recognizing as good. According to his data, the estimated operating time of the tablet is 153 minutes, i.e. about 2.5 hours.

For recovery full charge battery from the USB 3.0 connector requires 3.5-4 hours of time.

Having passed the crucible of our test laboratory, SamsungGalaxyTab 4 8.0 4 GLTE left quite a pleasant impression. This is a modern and well-built tablet with a good 8-inch screen. It has a stylish and very practical design, and is also equipped with all necessary elements. The performance of the trio of quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, Qualcomm Adreno 305 graphics accelerator and 1.5 GB of RAM is enough not only to perform everyday tasks, but also to run modern games. With support for microSD memory cards up to 64 GB, you can forget about the need free space for applications. Light weight and compact dimensions allow you to take the device with you anytime, anywhere. And support for new generation networks, which we really hope will soon appear in Ukraine, raises the tablet to a higher level among possible competitors.

The disadvantages include only weak oleophobic and anti-reflective coating screen and rather mediocre modules digital cameras. However, it should be borne in mind that the developers had to find a balance between using a very productive platform with support for 4G LTE networks and an affordable cost. That is why, in our opinion, the quality of camera modules, some sensors and screen coating were “sacrificed”.

So overall this is a decent device in its own right. price category. And if you are considering purchasing an 8-inch tablet in the near future, then you just need to pay attention to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE.

Advantages:

  • stylish appearance;
  • good build quality;
  • TFT-PLS display with wide viewing angles, high brightness and good color rendering;
  • support for microSD memory cards up to 64 GB;
  • good level of productivity;
