Also among the pleasant features of the new product is the presence of an interesting “Adapt Sound” option in the sound settings. With its help, you can more precisely adjust the sound of the device to specific headphones. In our case, after passing a special test, the sound became more vibrant and rich.

The tablet also has a speaker. It has a good and moderately loud sound, providing a pleasant transmission of the interlocutor's voice. Considering that we have a tablet in front of us and not a smartphone, it is still more natural and comfortable to use a headset.

The device owner can edit and configure this list independently from the corresponding menu. In addition, you can easily change the wallpaper on the screen and add visual effects when unlocked. From here you also have access to the notification shade and quick settings. In this submenu you can quickly set the brightness of the display backlight and the overall volume. Also, using a horizontally scrollable list, it is possible to activate various functions tablet, up to 10 pieces, which are displayed by default. To access the rest, you need to click on the corresponding icon (squares with arrows) and make a selection. The integrated graphics uses a Qualcomm Adreno 305 adapter with an operating clock frequency of 450 MHz and OpenGL support ES 3.0, OpenVG 1.1, OpenCL 1.2 and DirectX 9.0c. The amount of RAM is a non-standard 1.5 GB, which is more than enough to solve all the tasks. The tablet is equipped with a built-in memory of 16 GB, of which 11.9 GB is available to the user. The device also supports microSD memory cards up to 64 GB.

Although the performance of this model cannot be called record-breaking, it is more than enough to perform almost all everyday tasks, including running relatively demanding and resource-intensive applications such as modern games.

Mobile surfing, checking email, watching videos - all these tasks will not cause any difficulties in the operation of the device. And the level of gaming performance of the tablet is clearly visible in games such as Asphalt 8: Airborne and Dead Trigger 2. The first, without any visible problems worked for maximum settings graphics, while showing a good level of FPS. In the second case, I had to lower the level of detail to medium values, but otherwise the gameplay did not cause any difficulties.

During testing, we noticed only slight heating of the tablet, the main source of which was located in the lower part of the case, near the micro-USB connector.

Communications

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 4G LTE model supports all modern mobile networks, including not only the familiar GSM, WCDMA / HSPA+, but also high-speed 4G LTE:

The quality of work is at a good level: on average, during testing, the tablet found approximately 20 satellites and successfully connected to almost all of them. At the same time, the location accuracy was only 4 meters.

Autonomous operation

The tested model is equipped with a non-removable lithium-ion battery with a capacity of 4450 mAh. With a moderate load and performing everyday tasks (surfing the Internet, checking email, listening to music), this capacity is enough for more than two days of battery life.

Testing battery life showed the following results. While watching HD video at 50% display brightness and Wi-Fi and GPS tablet worked for almost 12.5 hours. In the case of a gaming simulation using Epic Citadel (“Guided Tour” mode), the device lasted almost 4.5 hours with 100% display brightness and Wi-Fi and GPS modules turned on. The results of the GFXBench benchmark are also worth recognizing as good. According to his data, the estimated operating time of the tablet is 153 minutes, i.e. about 2.5 hours.

And support for new generation networks, which we really hope will soon appear in Ukraine, raises the tablet to a higher level among possible competitors.

The disadvantages include only weak oleophobic and anti-reflective coating screen and rather mediocre modules digital cameras. However, it should be borne in mind that the developers had to find a balance between using a very productive platform with support for 4G LTE networks and an affordable cost. That is why, in our opinion, the quality of camera modules, some sensors and screen coating were “sacrificed”.
