Ready-made block diagrams in Word. Drawing Basics in Microsoft Word

Hello, dear readers. Today I’ll tell you about the tool for drawing diagrams in Word - SmartArt. If you describe in the text some business processes, structures, cycles, etc. — it is extremely important to supplement them with an appropriate scheme. Your readers will be grateful for this, because they will be able to better understand the issue, and the diagram is easier to remember than the text.

Externally, SmartArt designs are similar to. More precisely, they consist of figures collected and designed into entire schematic complexes. In addition, the management of such schemes is automated; many “manual” works can be done without much difficulty. Here is an example of the “Water Cycle in Nature” diagram, which I made in less than a minute:

You like? Very much for me. I am always happy to use these tools in my work.

How to Insert a SmartArt Chart in Word

To insert a similar diagram onto a sheet, do on the ribbon Insert - Illustrations - SmartArt. And let's, for example, Let's draw a sales funnel. For this we need an inverted pyramid. In the window that opens, we will study all categories of schemes and find Pyramid. Select in category Inverted pyramid. A hint about the purpose of this scheme is displayed on the right side of the window.

Now that the main block is on the sheet, let's configure it appearance and fill it in with information.

Changing the SmartArt Structure

The desired pyramid appeared on our sheet, completely blue, consisting of three blocks. If you don’t know, or have forgotten, the sales funnel has not 3, but 5 steps: ignorance, awareness, interest, desire, purchase. So, let's figure out how to set up the structure of objects, and at the same time add two more steps to our funnel.

Click on the diagram to select it. Two contextual tabs will appear on the ribbon: Design and Format. Now we are interested in the first of them. Namely, a block of commands Creating a drawing.

Have you noticed that the diagram consists of individual elements? If you click on an element, you can perform actions on it using commands on the ribbon. And our teams are:

These commands are more than enough to fully customize any structure presented in the Word gallery.
Now let's explore the design options.

Designing SmartArt Diagrams

Let's take another look at our funnel:

Do you also think that it is somehow flat and monotonous? In short, none. Let's fix this. Here are the tools in our hands:

Although the layout can still be improved, I like it anyway; I prefer to add just a few effects, but so that they make the circuit “more alive”. Let's now try to enter data into the funnel lines.

Filling the finished SmartArt diagram with data

To add text to a diagram, you can click directly on its elements (or the labels next to the elements). Once the cursor appears, enter text. But I propose to go a different way. Let's activate the tool Designer - Text Area. In the window that opens with a list of fields, write down their signatures. Here's what happened:

I don't really like the result. Black text... And although Word tried to automatically fit the captions into the funnel steps, the last element is too narrow, the text extends beyond it. What to do? I suggest:

  1. Select the last element (“Purchase”) and click on the ribbon Designer - Add Shape - Add Shape After. An empty triangle will be added below, and “Purchase” will rise one level higher and fit into its own line
  2. You can leave the empty triangle at the bottom, but I still want to remove it. Let's select it. Let's find a team Format - shape fill, select No fill. Similarly, Format - Outline, select No outline. The empty triangle is now invisible
  3. It remains to do something with the black text. Let’s select all levels of the funnel and execute it on the ribbon Format - WordArt Styles. Let's choose a style Fill-White, Outline-Accent 1, Shadow.

Great, look at where we started and what we ended up with:

I’m sure you now have a thousand more ideas on how to finish it, arrange it, redo it, so that everything is to your taste. I leave this for you to experiment with. Make your own circuits and use them different styles, layouts, WordArt, effects, etc. But my main advice is this: you do all this not for yourself, but for the one who will study your materials. When the diagram is ready - put yourself in the reader's shoes. Imagine that you are seeing the material for the first time. Is it conveniently presented? Were you able to figure it out quickly and easily? If not, try changing something, experiment. Ask yourself questions and answer them. This is the only way you will get a great scheme!

And I will finish my article. Of course, I will answer your questions in the comments. By the way, don’t miss it, it will be devoted to preparing the document for printing. Do not think that in this matter everything is simple and one button on the panel is enough quick access. Better read it and be sure that not a single square centimeter of paper is wasted. See you soon!

P.S. In other products Microsoft Office The SmartArt tool is also available. For example, . As they say, I'll just leave this link here.

If you need to supplement the text with graphic elements. For example, tables, graphs, diagrams or diagrams. That is, this can be done directly in the Word text editor. Without resorting to using third-party programs.

We have already talked about. This time we will talk about schemes. Text Word editor equipped with many tools for creating circuits. With their help you can draw various geometric figures, as well as lines and arrows. In this case, the drawn diagram can be decorated with the help of shadows or other graphic effects.

How to make a diagram in Word 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016

So, if you want to make a diagram in Word 2007, 2010, 2013 or 2016, then you need to go to the “ Insert” tab. This tab has two buttons that can be used to create diagrams in Word. These are the “Shapes” and “SmartArt” buttons.

When you click on the “Shapes” button, a huge list of shapes appears that you can insert into the document.

By selecting one of these shapes from the list, you can immediately draw it in any place convenient for you. Using several of these figures, you can easily make a diagram in Word. An example of a simple circuit in the screenshot below.

If necessary, the appearance of the drawn figures can be changed. To do this, simply select one of the shapes and go to the “Format” tab. On this tab you can change the shape color, frame color, fill color, add shadows and others graphic effects. Using all these features you can create a quite beautiful diagram (example below).

To add text to the diagram, simply click on the desired shape right click mouse and select the menu item “Add text". Then you can enter text directly inside the shape.

As a result, you can get something like this.

In addition, you can make a diagram in Word using the “SmartArt” button. After clicking on this button A catalog of ready-made schemes opens. In which you can choose one of the options that suit you.

After selecting the appropriate scheme option, a ready-made scheme will appear on the page.

You will only need to add your text. To do this, just click on one of the blocks and enter the desired text.

You can also change the appearance of the diagram you made. To do this, select the diagram with the mouse and go to the “Design” or “Format” tab. Using the tools available on these tabs, you can get a multi-colored and voluminous diagram like the one in the screenshot below.

How to make a diagram in Word 2003

If you are using Word 2003, you can also make an outline and add it to your document. To do this, you must first open the “View” menu and enable the “Drawing” toolbar.

,

After that in Word program 2003 there will be a toolbar for drawing various shapes. Shapes such as rectangle, circle, line and arrow will be available here.

In order to draw more complex shapes, you can use the “Autoshapes” menu.

How to draw diagrams in Word 2003? In order to draw diagrams in Word, you only need your imagination, desire, and the program itself - a text editor, which is included in the Microsoft office software package. After trying it once, you will be able to create any diagrams and small topographical diagrams. In the future I will teach you how to do this too. You will see that in good hands from text editor and a color printer, you can make a whole mini-printing house.

How to draw diagrams inWord

Before creating diagrams in Word, it would be nice to learn how to create beautiful ones and use them.

Open new document: — Start — Programs —MicrosoftOffice -MicrosoftOfficeWord . Down on the panel Drawing select an icon Rectangle .

If you do not have this panel, then go to the menu – View – Toolbars – and select – Drawing .

After you click on the icon - Rectangle– you will have such a frame.

Click anywhere in the newly created field. The field will look like this.

You can cut out this square in the center (right-click on it and select from the drop-down menu - Cut-). Select the rectangle in which we will draw. On the panel - Drawing– open AutoShapes – Basic Shapes – Cube and click on the field of the selected rectangle.

You should get a picture like this.

You can move and resize this cube. To do this, click on this cube to select it. If, when you hover your mouse over this cube, the cursor takes the form of a cross with arrows at the ends, then this object can be moved. If the cursor takes the form of a double-headed arrow (at the nodes, which are indicated by small circles), then you can change the size of the object. Make a rectangular shape out of the cube.

Right-click on the new figure and select the item from the drop-down menu - Copy .

Then right-click on the free field next to the figure and select - Insert. Do this trick twice.

You can select the ready-made shapes you need from the panel - Drawing – AutoShapes – Other AutoShapes .

It should look like this.

Now drag these shapes like I did.

Try to make the next figure yourself (again, using the copying method).

You can also insert small external drawings here, such as icons. Simply take the icon you need and copy or drag it into place. This is what we got.

Now let's sign our drawings. To do this, select the frame with pictures (click on a space free from pictures to make a frame appear) and select in the panel Drawing icon Inscription .

Now click on the free field of the frame. It should look like this.

We have a new small frame with a cursor. We will write in it. The size of this frame can also be changed.

Create the same inscriptions as mine using the copy method and move them to their places.

Now let's draw connecting lines. To do this in AutoShapes (on the panel - Drawing-) select – Connecting lines . Don't forget to select the main frame before choosing. You can call it " Canvas" After all, we paint on it like on a canvas. I chose - Ledge with arrow .

This is where you have to be patient and practice. Place the cursor in the form of a cross at the place where you are going to draw the line and click without releasing the left mouse button, drag the line to the place where you want it and only then release the mouse button.

If it doesn’t work, then cancel your action and select the connecting line again and start over. Every new line must be re-selected on the panel – Drawing .

Lines can be changed by dragging the yellow diamonds on them.

Now let's make a nice background for our drawing. To do this, select our “canvas” again and select the icon on the same panel – Fill color .

By selecting required color, click on the icon again and make a second click on the free field of the “canvas”. Or first click on the “canvas” and then on the fill icon.

This is what we got.

So that our individual pictures and icons do not move in different sides, you need to select each element (and connecting lines too) (click on each element while holding down the " Ctrl" until all items are selected). Here too you will have to work hard. Even I don’t always succeed the first time.

Now carefully right-click on some selected element (for example, on a monitor icon) and select - GroupingGroup .

With a little practice, you can quickly and easily create any diagrams in Word .

Note

By the way, the thickness of all lines can be changed. To do this, select the required line by clicking on it and select in the panel - Drawing – icon – Line type . But this must be done before grouping. Frames with inscriptions can also be filled with any color (this can also be done after grouping).

Today, not a single experienced electrician uses manual drawing of electrical circuits on a piece of paper. It is much simpler, more convenient and clearer to draw up a project for electrical wiring of a room on a computer using a special software package in Russian. However, the problem is that not all programs are easy to use, so when you stumble upon an inconvenient and, moreover, paid version software, most old-school masters simply discard modern way modeling aside. Next, we will provide readers of the site with an overview of the most simple programs for drawing electrical diagrams apartments and houses on the computer.

Free software

There are not many Russian-language, easy-to-use, and also free software for creating single-line electrical diagrams on a computer. So, we have created a small rating so that you know which programs are best for drawing power supply diagrams for houses and apartments:

  1. . Oddly enough, the most popular and, no less important, free program for drawing single-line electrical diagrams on a computer is vector graphics editor Visio. With its help, even a novice electrician can quickly draw a circuit diagram of a house or apartment. Concerning functionality, they are not as advanced as those of the software that we will provide below. To summarize, we can say that Microsoft Visio is easy to use and at the same time in Russian free program for modeling electrical circuits, which is suitable for home electricians.
  2. . A more professional software package for designing indoor electrical circuits. Compass has its own database, which stores the names and ratings of all the most popular types of automation, relay protection, low-voltage installations and other circuit elements. In addition, the database contains graphic symbols of all these elements, which will make it possible to create a clear diagram of the power supply or even a separate switchboard. The software is completely in Russian and you can download it for free.
  3. Eagle(Easily Applicable Graphical Layout Editor). This software package will allow you not only to draw single-line power supply diagrams, but also to independently develop a drawing of a printed circuit board. As for the latter, drawing can be done either manually or without one’s own participation (in automatic mode). Today there are both paid and free versions of the Eagle program. For home use It will be enough to download the version labeled “Freeware” (there are some restrictions in relation to maximum size useful area of the printed circuit board). The disadvantage of this software package is that it is not officially Russified, although if you try a little, you can find a Russifier on the Internet, which will allow you to draw electrical diagrams of apartments and houses without any obstacles.
  4. Dip Trace. Another one popular program for drawing electrical circuits and creating routes for printed circuit boards. The program is simple and easy to use, and is also entirely in Russian. The interface allows you to design printed circuit board in volumetric form, using a database with ready-made elements of the electrical circuit. You can evaluate the full functionality of the software only for money, but there is also a stripped-down free version, which will be quite enough for a novice electrician.
  5. " A completely free program for drawing electrical circuits on a computer. From the official website you can download it in Russian and full version. In addition to modeling power supply projects for apartments, houses and other types of premises, in this software package you can easily create a diagram in which the most suitable ratings of circuit breakers, relay protection, etc. will immediately be provided. A nice addition This software contains a database of stickers that can be printed and pasted in your own distribution panel for graphic designation all circuit elements according to GOST.
  6. . One of free versions The popular AutoCAD editor is AutoCAD Electrician. Briefly about this software, we can say the following: the functionality is suitable for both beginners and professional electricians working in the energy field. Everything in the interface is simple, you can quickly figure it out. All functions are in Russian, so you can easily use AutoCAD to draw electrical wiring diagrams for your house or apartment.
  7. Elf. Interesting name a simple program for modeling power supply circuits in construction drawing. The software package itself is no less interesting and multifunctional. Using the Elf Design program, you can create power supply drawings of any complexity. In addition, the software helps with the appropriate denomination, etc. "Elf Design" is a completely free software package in Russian.

You can see some of the listed programs in video reviews:

AutoCAD Electrical

KOMPAS-Electric

In addition to the 7 programs provided for drawing electrical circuits, there are more than a dozen editors in which you can create a basic plan for the electrical supply of a house or apartment for free, but other programs have a more complex interface or problems with Russian version. We recommend giving preference to representatives this rating, so as not to waste time in the future searching for localization codes, user manuals, and the like!

Paid software

We reviewed free programs for creating electrical circuits on our own. However, you yourself understand that in paid versions a wider range of features and convenient add-ons are provided that will allow you to draw an electrical circuit on a computer. There are many popular paid programs for drawing electrical circuits. We have provided some of them above, but there is one more program that is worth talking about a little - sPlan. This is one of the easiest to use and also multifunctional software packages for drawing up electrical wiring and routing diagrams electronic boards. The interface is convenient, in Russian. The database contains all the most popular graphic elements for drawing electrical circuits.

BUILDING A FLOW CHART IN A TEXT PROCESSORWORD

Create a flowchart in word processor Microsoft Word is executed using the toolbar Drawing(picture 1). If the panel is not enabled, then select the command ViewToolbars and check the box " Drawing» or click on the (Drawing) icon on the toolbar Standard. The Word text editor allows you to create only vector objects (lines, straight and curves, geometric shapes, standard and non-standard), raster objects are inserted as external objects from a file prepared by other means (using a graphic editor, scanner, digital camera, graphic tablet, etc.).

Figure 1 – Toolbar Drawing

The main tool of the panel Drawing, intended for creating the simplest objects, is a drop-down list AutoShapes. Its categories include blanks for creating lines, straight lines and curves, simple geometric shapes, curly arrows and extension lines, drawing elements for flowcharts, functional diagrams, etc.

When creating and editing graphic objects, the following techniques and tools are used.

Pictogram ( Add objectWordArt) allows you to create WordArt objects.

More complex drawings (compositions) are created by combining simple drawings. When creating a complex drawing, you should take into account not only the interaction of objects with text, but also their interaction with each other.

Several simple objects need to be grouped into one object with the command GroupingGroup context menu or command Group from the dropdown list Actions. Once grouped, objects can no longer be moved relative to each other, and the position of the entire group on the page can be controlled as a single object. To group, all objects must first be selected by clicking the left mouse button while holding down the key Shift or by moving the mouse with the left button pressed, with the tool selected ( Selecting objects). Reverse operation Ungroup allows you to “disassemble” a complex object into its constituent simple objects, which, if necessary, can be edited and then re-grouped.

Axial position control Z(normal to the drawing plane) of objects overlapping each other is carried out using the item Order object context menu or drop-down list Actions. In a drawing, each object has its own “layer.” Objects created earlier are located below, and objects created later are located on higher layers. Accordingly, when overlapping, later objects overlap earlier ones. You can change this order by changing the position of the selected object relative to other objects and the main text.

If objects do not overlap each other, they are aligned with each other if necessary. The alignment operation is performed before grouping. In this case, the grouping operation is performed as a fixing operation. To align several objects with each other, they should be selected in the drop-down list Actions from category Align/distribute select one of the items. The alignment and distribution operations are performed only if the group consists of more than two objects. When distributing between objects, equal intervals are automatically set.

Pictograms Shadow And Volume allow you to give the autoshape various forms of shadow and volume by selecting the required design type from the drop-down list.

The main stages of constructing a block diagram:

    enable toolbar Drawing;

    display a coordinate grid;

    using autoshapes and other elements, draw a block diagram;

    cancel display of the coordinate grid;

group all the individual shapes into a single object.
