The Brother TN starter cartridge is typically filled with 700 pages of printing and runs out fairly quickly. It can be refilled for approximately 2,600 pages (at 5% coverage) using Static Control toneror the maximum resource flag. First of all, you need to remove the protective warranty tape that is sealed on the toner bin lid:

Now remove one by one the two levers (holders) that secure the magnetic shaft of the cartridge:
After this, you can begin to remove the locks from the cartridge. It is convenient to remove the locks using a flat-head screwdriver:

After all the locks have been removed, you can remove the magnetic roller (developer roller):
Use a toner vacuum cleaner to thoroughly clean the cartridge to remove any remaining toner. Be sure to carefully remove any toner from the edge of the dispensing blade.
After cleaning the toner, you can install the magnetic roller back, securing it with locks one by one:
Install the levers in their seats and secure with screws:
Now you can add a can of toner to the cartridge:
Close the lid of the toner hopper, take the cartridge in your hands and slightly rotate the magnetic shaft of the cartridge on both sides so as to evenly distribute the toner over its surface:
The cartridge is refilled. Now you need to install the pendulum. To do this, you can use either a kit with a ready-made side cover or a “native” cartridge cover, adapted for installing a flag.
In the pictures below we will show you how to make one for the pendulum with your own hands (if you have a kit with a ready-made side cover, you can skip the instructions for making it and go directly to the part where the installation of the flag is shown).
Before drilling the seat for the flag, it would be advisable to get rid of the starting tooth on the cover:
Place the lid on the edge of the table and begin to carefully drill a hole for the pendulum:
Drill slowly so as not to accidentally damage the cover:

Pay attention to the positionbottom gear: the tooth should be set in the position shown in the photo below. The position of the cog also affects the page counter reset. In order for the counter to be reset, both the lower gear and the flag must be set correctly above her.

The refilled cartridge with the pendulum should be installed in the turned on printer after all tests have passed and the printer is ready to install the cartridge. This is important because the cartridge pendulum must be firmly in “its” place, otherwise the gears will turn prematurely and throw the flag teeth into the wrong position.
Please note that the checkbox is installed one time on the cartridge. In the future, after each refueling, you just need to twist it to its original position. The cartridge refill process is not very complicated compared to typical laser cartridges HP, Canon, Samsung, Xerox . Instructions for refilling Brother TN-2275 / TN-2235 cartridges
Step #1. Using a vacuum cleaner, clean the outside of the cartridge, then open the box. Now shake out any remaining toner. Clean it with an air jet or use a vacuum cleaner. (When cleaning, cover the gears (wheels) with your hand.) On the side where there are no wheels, you need to unscrew two screws. This will allow you to remove the two plastic handles. By the way, to pull out the small handle, you need to turn it.
Step #2. Now you should lift the hinges, which will allow you to pull the panel off the drum axis. On the side where the gears are located, unscrew the screw and pull it out.
Step #3. The wheels have springs. Here you need to be careful, since their correct location determines whether the consumable will fit the device. New cartridges have reset gears. In the photo you can see all their types. On the TN420 and TN450 models they may be completely different. Now you need to remove the black plastic part from the shaft axis. This can be done by pressing the loop located on the back.
Step #4. Pull out the E-ring and carefully remove the remaining gears. Be especially careful with them and don't lose the springs!
Step #5. Gently press the latch located on the side with the wheels. Then you need to turn the felling gate upward. This will give you the opportunity to pull out the developing roller.
Step #6. Using a screwdriver, unscrew the 2 screws and pull out the dominant blade. By the way, it is not secured with seals, so it is easy to remove for cleaning. Clean the compartment, seals, and roller thoroughly to ensure there is no toner residue on them.
Step #7. Look at the seals located on the magnetic shaft. If they shrink too much, loosen them using a flat-head screwdriver. Using a lint-free cloth, dry the blade. It's very easy to bend, so be extra careful. Now put it back and secure it with two screws.
Step No. 8-9 Clean the developing roller with the same cloth as the blade, as well as a special cleaning agent for this part from a Japanese manufacturer. There is no need to use any other chemicals. Now reinstall the developing roller and turn the shutter towards the blade until it clicks into place. Install the panel on the side where the gear is. Be sure to check that the latches are closed.
Now you need to clean the gears from any remaining toner. If their axles are too dirty, clean them as much as possible and replace the grease with white lithium grease. Now insert the shaft wheel, E-ring and black spare part in the order described. Make sure the gears are working correctly. Now install the spring. In the photo you can see how to do this.
Step #10. Depending on the design of the consumable (we wrote about the features of some models in step 3), install the gears. It is important that their teeth do not move during installation. The gear is spring driven and will spin when you turn on the device. It is necessary to put the protective panel in place and tighten it with 2 bolts.
Step No. 11-12. On the side where there are no wheels, insert plastic handles, then tighten them with screws. Install the smaller handle at the very end. To latch it, you need to turn it from bottom to top. All that remains is to fill the consumable with the amount of toner that is needed.
Close the plug and remove any toner dust from the cartridge. All you have to do is install the developing roller protection cover.

Brother printers and MFPs have a built-in page counter that blocks the printer from operating after the “expected end” of toner in the cartridge. This is a safety mechanism designed by the printer manufacturer to make refilling cartridges more difficult. To continue printing, if set, you must reset the toner counter. The counter is reset by scrolling the “flag” on the left “cheek” of the cartridge before installing it in the printer.
The “flag” method of resetting the toner counter, unfortunately, does not always work the first time when installing a new or refilled cartridge. Then you have to remove the cartridge from the printer and repeat the procedure of scrolling the “flag” until the counter is reset.
Resetting the toner counter by raising the flag
The following instructions are only valid for laser toner cartridges Brother TN-2080 / TN-2085 / TN-2090 / TN-2275.
1. This is what the “flag” looks like (see image below), which we need to cock in order to reset the toner counter in the printer. To do this, you need to unscrew 2-3 screws (depending on the model) and remove the side “cheek” covering the reset mechanism. 
2. Remove the two gears covering the center gear. Rotate the center gear to the position shown in the figure below, so that the straight edge of the center part is vertical to the left.
3. Reinstall the two gears. The right gear should be in the “petal” (protruding edge) position downwards as shown in the figure.
4. Install the side panel. Finally, after assembling the cartridge, make sure that the protruding petal of the “flag” is facing down and the marker arrows are facing each other.
This procedure sometimes has to be repeated more than once, even with a new cartridge.
Brother TN-2275 is refilled only with departure. This is not a cartridge replacement, but a replacement of the toner in the cartridge. Therefore, it is cheaper than buying an original cartridge.
