What is the Eltex router used for? Tag Archives: eltex

The Rostelecom company provides its subscribers with various equipment for rent, including routers. The company is not involved in the production of equipment, but in world practice a scheme is widely used in which the manufacturer supplies the provider with equipment without a logo, and the provider already applies his own. Rostelecom does the same (it cooperates with companies Huawei, zte, eltex, sagemcom, etc.), which means that clients may have different models in use. In this article we will look at universal ways to access your router settings.

How to enter the router settings

So, you rented or bought a router, came home and want to set up the Internet or make some other settings (for example). To do this, you need to open the package, connect power and a cable to the router, but not the one that comes into your apartment from the entrance, but the one that will connect the router to a computer or laptop. Connect the other end of the cable to your turned on computer. For most router models, the admin panel is available at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 . Type one of them into the address bar of your browser and press enter.

After this, a window for entering your login and password should appear in front of you.

The username and password for logging in are indicated in the operating instructions for the router, but if you could not find such information there, then try the following combinations:

  • login - admin, password - empty
  • login - admin, password - admin
  • login - admin, password - password
  • login - admin, password - 1234

If one of the combinations is correct, then a page with available router settings will open in front of you.

If these options do not work, then you need to reset the settings to factory settings. To do this, find the Reset button on the back wall and press it for a few seconds while the router is turned on.

Basic settings of the Rostelecom router

The first tab of the router settings displays summary information about the current state of the device. We don't make any settings here.

The second tab is where you configure your Internet connection. Select the interface you need (in our case PPPoE/VPN) and click on the “add connection” button.

In the window that opens, you need to select a protocol, come up with a name for the connection, enter a username and password for Internet access (this information should be in your contract), as well as the server address. Leave the remaining items in the "auto" state.

If you have several computers at home, then on the next tab you can assign each device its own IP address on your home network.

The next tab is responsible for setting up Wi-Fi. Here you need to set the name of your network, select the encryption type and come up with a password.

The manufacturer regularly releases firmware updates that correct errors found by users and add new functionality to the device. That's why it's worth checking regularly for available updates. Go to the settings tab and find the “update” item there. The screen will display the current firmware version and the version available for update. All you have to do is click on the “install” button.

As you can see, if you have minimal knowledge, you can configure the router yourself without calling a company specialist to your home. Ask questions in the comments and we will help you, but in the meantime we recommend watching a video on this topic.

If problems arise in obtaining an address, these parameters must be specified manually
  3. In the browser, open the WEB modem interface http://192.168.1.1/ in the pop-up window, enter data to access the WEB interface: user name - user, password - user

  1. The following information should appear in the window that opens:

Pay attention to the number of rows in the table and the status displayed in the last two columns 1 , if the status is different, some services may not work - submit the problem to technical support. Go to the PPP settings menu item 2 (if this item is not in the menu, submit the problem to technical support).

  1. In the window that opens, enter your username 1 and password 2 to access the Internet, click the Apply button 3 , we are waiting for the settings to be applied. Go to the Summary menu item 4 .

  1. After some time (5-7 minutes), the terminal should connect to the Internet, the indicator lights up green, the status window looks like the one shown. After this, you can check the operation of the Internet service.

Wi-Fi setup

In the menu on the left, select the Wi-Fi item, in the list that opens, select the “Basic” item, make sure that the “Enable Wireless” field is checked on the right side (if it is not checked, Wi-Fi is turned off).

The “SSID” field is the name of the network that will be displayed in the list of available Wi-Fi networks when connecting to them. Therefore, after the name ELTEX-NTP, we recommend entering the number of the house and apartment, for example 68 house 308 apartment - this will allow you to distinguish the access points installed by subscribers in this house.

Make sure that the “Contry” (Country) field is set to “Russian Federation” (Russia), if not, correct it!

Also pay attention to the value of the “Max Clients” field - the default value is 16, i.e. Only 16 Wi-Fi devices can connect with this setup.

To apply the settings made, click the “Apply” button and then, in the menu tree on the left, select the “Security” menu.

On the right side, in the “Manual Setup AP” section, set the settings as shown in the figure below, paying attention to the meaning of the fields:

Network Authentication - Mixed WPA2/WPA-PSK value

WPA/WAPI Encryption - TKIP+AES value

WPA/WAPI Passphrase - in this field you enter the Wi-Fi key that will be used when connecting devices. We recommend using a password to log into the Internet as a key.

To apply the settings, click the “Apply” button.

In general, the settings made ensure that devices are connected via Wi-Fi and work on the Internet.

Detailed instructions for the device are available on the manufacturer’s website:

The Eltex NTP-RG-1402G-W router can be used with the Rostelecom provider only if the apartment is connected directly to the fiber-optic Internet. Before setting up the configuration via the web interface, you must first connect the device correctly. The standard package of the Eltex device includes only a power adapter and an instruction sheet - therefore, connecting cables for TV, Internet, and telephony are purchased by the user independently.

On the back of the router you can see a number of connectors, including the following:

  • power input;
  • USB port;
  • LAN ports (1-4);
  • phone connectors (1-2);

How to do port forwarding on an Eltex router

To forward ports on an Eltex device from Rostelecom, you need to use a special application. But first you will need to make a few additional settings through the web interface. You can enter it in the same way as you did before. Next, go to the “Network Services” menu from the top horizontal menu bar. The permission must be set to “UPNP”. After this change you need to save and the device must be rebooted.

The second stage is downloading and installing the program. Flylink DC++. After launching it, go to settings and select “Connection settings”. The parameters in this window should be set in the same way as in the screenshot below.

If you need to forward additional ports, change the values of the fields responsible for this. Check the "Firewall with UPnP" option. Close the program and launch it again. Make sure that changes to all listed settings were saved correctly. This method is used, for example, to forward port 5000, as well as other ports on the Eltex router from Rostelecom.

The Eltex NTP RG-1402G-W optical GPON terminal can often be found among fiber Internet subscribers from Rostelecom. Setting up an Internet connection on this optical modem is performed remotely by a technical support operator upon your call. The user simply does not have rights to do more. But to set up WiFi on the Eltex NTP RG-1402G-W, you can completely change the password, change the name, etc. We will tell you about this in this instruction.

In order to enter the settings of the Eltex NTP RG-1402G-W optical terminal, you first need to configure the network between the optical set-top box and the computer.

What we did:

  • Go to network connections (where Local Area Connection is located)
  • We went into the properties of Local Area Network Connections and opened the properties of the Internet Protocol TCP\IP
  • Check the box next to “Obtain an IP address automatically”

Why this is done - the optical set-top box issues IP addresses to connected devices automatically.

What we did:

  • Found the command line;
  • Entered the ping command and specified the IP of the optical set-top box (192.168.1. 1)
  • An open window and data inside indicates that data is being exchanged between the optical console and the computer. Therefore, everything was done correctly.

Note: There must be a connection between the optical console and the computer! It does not depend on the settings of the station equipment! If there is no connection, the problem may be the following: computer, optical set-top box, ETHERNET computer cord.
