Lately, tablet manufacturers have given little satisfaction to their potential clients some fresh ideas. All the differences between the models different manufacturers, - this is the case material, color, surface texture and degree of roundness of the corners. If you cover the manufacturer's logo, you may not immediately be able to guess what kind of tablet it is. It is not surprising that people are losing interest in purchasing new devices, and almost all companies began to complain about the decline. This is understandable - why buy almost the same tablet if the existing one copes with its functions perfectly?

Lenovo decided to surprise its customers with an unusual design

Lenovo is one of the few, if not the only, company that has released a tablet with a unique design. This Lenovo model Yoga Tablet 3. Yoga series devices are not new to the market and are known for their ability to transform and work in different modes. The tablet in question is not fully transformable, but one design feature significantly distinguishes it from the background of identical rectangles of other devices, significantly expanding the use models. So, we present to your attention a review of the tablet. Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3.

Inside the colorful cardboard packaging there is a tablet, a power supply that produces a voltage of 5 V and a current of 1.5 A, USB cable and printed documentation. In this regard, the company did not come up with anything original, offering a standard set.

Design

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3, as we have already mentioned, has a unique design and body design. At first glance, the cylindrical base with a retractable metal stand catches your eye. Thanks to this innovation, the tablet becomes much more convenient to use in many situations. Some control elements are located on the same cylindrical base (we’ll write about them later), and a capacious battery is built inside it.

The design of both versions of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3, with 8-inch and 10-inch screens, is no different. The only difference is that the default orientation of the smaller modification is vertical, while the larger one is horizontal. The center of gravity is shifted downwards, so when stationary use its stability rests on high level without any covers.

Retractable metal stand allows you to use Lenovo tablet Yoga Tablet 3, in addition to the standard one, in four more additional modes works:

  • console - the tablet is in a horizontal orientation, the stand is extended down; convenient when watching movies;
  • book - tablet stands vertically with a stand extended to the side, resembling a folded magazine and a folded book; intended primarily for reading electronic publications;
  • keyboard - the tablet is installed horizontally and rests on a stand top part, the body turns out to be raised above the surface; it is very convenient to type in this position;
  • painting - tablet in horizontal orientation, stand raised up; can be used to display content in a hanging position by hooking the device onto the hole in the stand.

You can use the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 as in normal mode, with the stand folded, and in any orientation. But the modes listed above relieve your hands and... If you hold the device suspended, you will have to get used to it, since the center of gravity is noticeably shifted and this is especially noticeable in vertical orientation. The company itself advises using the tablet, holding it approximately by the middle of the cylinder.

The body of the device is plastic, and the stand is made of metal. Display closed protective glass. The build quality is traditionally at its best, nothing is loose, there are no squeaks. The case material is strong and will certainly withstand a fall (however, it is better not to take risks when testing the device for strength). At the same time, it is very easily soiled - fingerprints and stains remain on it very quickly and in large quantities.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 looks beautiful and stylish. Available in black, silver and white colors. The cylindrical base has a diameter of about 2 cm, while the thickest part of the body itself is a maximum of 7–8 mm. By the way, towards the edge of the device the thickness decreases and reaches 3 mm. Various interfaces and buttons are located somewhat unusually, but quite original. If you take the tablet base down, the power button and sound interface are located at the ends of the base, the volume button and USB socket are on the side edges of the case (10-inch model) or on one side edge (8-inch model), the speakers are at the edges of the base under the screen.

The 10-inch model is equipped with two cameras: the front one is located on the narrow edge of the body, and the main one is located on the back of the base. The 8-inch modification of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 has only one main camera located on the base, but it can rotate 180 degrees. Under the stand there are slots for a flash drive and a SIM card. By the way, on an 8-inch tablet they open by pressing a special button, while on a 10-inch tablet you need to pry them off with something.

Screen

The display resolution of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 is the same for both modifications and is 1280 × 800 pixels. The pixel density is, depending on the diagonal of the matrix, 149 or 189 ppi. It is made according to IPS technology, which provides excellent color reproduction and viewing from the sharpest angles. The brightness reserve is sufficient for most situations, the maximum backlight level is 310 cd/m2, the minimum is about 15. This means that viewing the screen will be comfortable for the eyes both in pitch darkness and in bright light. Working in the sun is not entirely comfortable, because due to the lack of anti-reflective coating The picture is heavily blurred. There is also no oleophobic layer, which is why Lenovo screen Yoga Tablet 3 becomes very dirty and becomes covered with various stains.

We can say that the company saved money on screen production. For the 10-inch modification it was possible to install at least Full HD. Otherwise, small text and elements will not be displayed very clearly, and the overall picture will look a little blurry. You can also note using almost any object as a stylus. The technology is called AnyPen. In general, the display fits the characteristics of mid-class devices.

Performance

Each modification of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 is equipped with its own processors. Thus, the 8-inch modification is equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 processor with a frequency of 1.3 GHz and 4 cores, while the 10-inch is equipped with a MediaTek MT8389 with a frequency of 1.2 GHz and also 4 cores. Operational and permanent memory both models have 1 and 16 GB, respectively. The tablet supports cards microSD memory up to 64 GB.

The Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3's hardware is fully consistent with the budget class of devices. And since the price component of the tablet is positioned at least in the middle class, I would like to get more powerful hardware. It’s clear that you shouldn’t consider a gaming tablet, but the device copes well with basic tasks - surfing, watching videos, navigation, reading books. Nothing slows down, the video is played in the highest quality, satellites are located very quickly. Most games from the Market will run without loss of FPS. Of course, the most modern and sophisticated ones will mercilessly slow down, but the tablet does not pretend to be a flagship.

Multimedia capabilities

In addition to high-quality processing of videos and videos, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 boasts excellent sound speakers that support Dolby Atmos 3D, thanks to which they sound clear, loud and spacious. We can safely recommend the tablet as multimedia center. In order not to encounter possible failures in format support, immediately install a good third-party player, for example, MX Player.

Battery and operating time

The battery, built into the cylindrical base of the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 and deprived of access to prying hands and eyes, has a capacity of 6200 (8″) or 9000 (10″) mAh. This guarantees long-term operation of the tablet without recharging. The manufacturer claims up to 18 (10″) or even 20 (8″) hours! This is one of best performance On the market. In practice, the following results can be expected in various modes of use:

  • reading an electronic book - 22 hours;
  • watching video High Quality- 16 hours 40 minutes;
  • watching HD video on YouTube - just over 15 hours.

Camera

The 8-inch Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 has best camera than its 10-inch cousin. Its resolution is 8 megapixels, in addition, it can rotate 180 degrees. Now you don’t need to think that the front camera is too weak for selfies or video calls. Just turn the camera towards yourself and enjoy. The larger brother has everything according to the classic scheme: the front one is 1.6 megapixels and the main one is 5 megapixels. The manufacturer makes it clear that 10-inch tablets cannot be considered cameras in any way.

Be that as it may, the cameras of both devices have autofocus, clear settings and good image quality for tablets and recording in HD quality. There is no flash, and it’s unlikely that many will shoot anything worthwhile on a tablet.

Operating system and programs

Both tablets run on Android OS, although their versions are different. Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 8 uses Android 5.1.1, while Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 10 uses Android 4.2.2. On top is a branded shell. Despite the external maximum similarity to the original, there are several built-in programs (and not everyone may like them) and additional features system settings and appearance. The system does not stand out in anything remarkable and works quite stably.

Competitors

Considering the form factor, the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 has no competitors at all, because its design is truly unique. If we take into account the characteristics of the hardware and the price, our closest competitors can be called Samsung Galaxy Tab A(), ASUS ZenPad and ASUS Transformer Pad. All of them have approximately the same screen characteristics, processor power and camera quality.

Advantages and disadvantages

Letting down Lenovo review Yoga Tablet 3 to completion, let's note the weak and strong points of the tablet.

  • Original design, stand.
  • Excellent autonomy.
  • Gorgeous speakers.
  • Overcharge.
  • Difficult to hold with one hand.
  • Weak processor.
  • Lack of oleophobic and anti-reflective layer.
  • Poor resolution in a 10-inch device.

Conclusion

Whether you are ready to overpay for the Lenovo Yoga Tablet 3 is up to you to decide. Yes, the tablet has certain advantages over its competitors thanks to the stand, but for that kind of money the hardware could be more powerful. But the battery life lasts for a very long time; few can compete with our device in this matter. In addition, the 8-inch tablet has more new version Android and a more powerful camera.

Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8.0 was released in three versions: YT3-850F, 850L and 850M. The first can only work via Wi-Fi, while the second is available via LTE, and the third is still capable of making calls. We got the third one - the most advanced. It’s also worth considering that there is also a 10-inch “yoga” version.

At first glance, the characteristics look good, but there is a certain set of questions about them. Of course, all complaints arise regarding its price - in our opinion, the parameters of the tablet should either be better, or it should cost less.

Let's start with the processor - the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 is a budget chip for low-cost devices. That is why it uses four Cortex-A7 cores, which today can be found mainly in budget segment. Add to this their low frequency of 1.27 GHz. So we can’t expect a “breakthrough” in terms of performance.

The second point is that the Adreno 304 accelerator is used as a video card. It operates at a frequency of 400 MHz and is also aimed at inexpensive products.

1 GB of RAM is installed, which can already be said to be a little - devices with a price one and a half times lower have the same amount. You may have noticed that the table above compares the Lenovo tablet with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0, which costs a little more. So, it not only has a noticeably stronger processor, but also 2 GB of RAM.

It’s good that they didn’t skimp on the built-in storage – if the tablet had 8 GB of flash memory, it would have been possible to “bury” it. But there are 16 GB, which is not bad, but for that kind of money today this is the norm.

We believe that Lenovo chose the budget Qualcomm chipset for a reason - this ensures support for communication via 4G/LTE. Albeit at speeds of up to 150 Mbit/s (LTE Cat.4), but a similarly priced MediaTek processor would be limited to compatibility with 3G/HSPA+.

Overall, we didn't like the characteristics of the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8.0 - at the price they are asking for the tablet, they should be better. For example, like the aforementioned Galaxy Tab A.

Performance testing

What samsung tablet our Lenovo will win in the main tests - this is clear as day. So to speak, don’t go to a fortune teller. But again, no one pulled the Chinese by the ears; they themselves decided to offer their product in a segment where a Korean tablet is available.

The superiority of the Samsung device is obvious and very significant.

This is also confirmed by the modern Antutu test.

The video card in Yoga Tab 3 is relatively weak, which even in old game barely showed 30 FPS.

And I don’t even want to talk about more difficult tests - the Galaxy Tab A simply “tears” its opponent.

But in terms of autonomy, Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 surprised. According to our method, after completing all tasks, the tablet has 86% battery charge left, which is very, very good. Although this is not an absolute record, it is an excellent indicator. Most likely, the matter is in the capacious 6200 mAh battery (Galaxy Tab A 8.0 has 4200 mAh), but still energy is consumed extremely economically. It feels good that the battery is draining slowly. But don’t forget that you also have to pay for this with the relatively considerable weight of the device!

You will notice that all tasks consume very little energy. Most of it was on the Internet through mobile communications and games, which is quite logical. But overall, it’s nice that you’ll have to charge the tablet every two to three days.

In total, the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 has a noticeable imbalance: not the fastest processor, weak video card, capacious battery and excellent autonomy. True, due to the large battery, the weight was also quite noticeable.

Games on Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 8.0

Is “yoga” good for play? Good question - yes and no. In some places nothing slows down, but in some cases it slows down.

  • Riptide GP2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 7: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 8: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Modern Combat 5: Blackout: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • N.O.V.A. 3: Some delays are visible;

  • Dead Trigger: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger 2: Some delays are visible;

  • Real Racing 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Need For Speed: Most Wanted: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Shadowgun: Dead Zone: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Frontline Commando: Normandy: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Plants vs Zombies 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Iron Man 3: Some delays are visible;

  • Dead Target: excellent, the game does not slow down.

More games on the Lenovo Yoga Tab 3 do not slow down, but not all of them. Some are difficult to play in general, but there are few of them. However, as more complex titles are released, the situation will worsen. In short, on a gaming tablet this device doesn't pull.

Today our guest is the junior model of the Yoga Tab 3 line – Lenova Yoga Tab 3-850F with an 8″ screen diagonal. Let's see if this propagandist can healthy image Will the life of the “baby” surprise us with something?

Design and materials

Lenovo did not reinvent the wheel or significantly change the design of previous generations of Yoga devices. The familiar shape that has found its fans is still comfortable with a vertical grip. The design of the wonderful stand hidden in the cylindrical battery compartment of the device has not changed either.

The screen occupies 80% of the surface of the front side of the gadget. Equipped with a glossy protective glass, it, unfortunately, cannot boast of the effectiveness of the oleophobic coating.

Fingerprints, which are collected literally in seconds, are reluctantly removed from it.
The back surface of the tablet is black with a pleasant fine-grained texture and decorated with the Yoga line logo. In addition to purely decorative functions, the back also plays the role of the main “radiator” of the tablet - during prolonged use it can heat up significantly. Therefore, it is recommended to hold the device by the edges.

The above-mentioned stand allows you to position the tablet as comfortably as possible, regardless of your position. Lenovo claims 4 degrees of stand fixation, differing in degrees of tilt. But this should not limit your imagination at all! :) Under the removable cover, quite predictably, there are slots for a SIM card and a microSD memory card.

Power button, as in previous models series, is located at the end of the tablet at the base of the battery compartment. Underneath we find a micro-USB connector and a volume rocker. On the opposite side there is a 3.5 mm jack and a microphone.

The materials used in the tablet are of high quality. The abundance of metal pleases. Plastic does not cause rejection. It is pleasant to the touch, practical and does not look cheap.

Interface

The firmware of our today's hero will please fans of “naked” Android.

Apart from several branded pre-installed features and additional settings, in front of us stock Android 5 Lollipop! Not disfigured beyond recognition by “improvers” of all stripes. Everything works quickly, smoothly and without any complaints.

Camera

Made in the form of a rotating “drum” unit, the camera module can rotate more than 180. This is accompanied by a pleasant, barely audible mechanical “click”. The rotation is discrete, which means the camera can be fixed at the desired angle. This design makes a separate module unnecessary front camera. Which, in fact, is not here :).

The quality of the pictures is quite adequate price category. However, if you set a goal and play around with the settings properly, then in the daytime or in good lighting it is quite possible to get decent pictures. The absence of an outbreak in 2015 is perceived as wild. Well, don’t use a flashlight to illuminate it, honestly!

Camera 8 MP (180 degree rotatable)
Orientation sensor +

Screen

The IPS matrix provides accurate and at the same time neutral, albeit with a slight bias towards warm tones, color reproduction. All its advantages can be appreciated, for example, when watching films. But in games the impression is spoiled by excessive grain. The resolution, which is small by today's standards, makes itself felt.

The sensor works perfectly. There are no complaints about accuracy or responsiveness. Here we should separately mention the proprietary AnyPen technology, which Lenova positions as one of the “features” of the tablet. Here's a quote:

Use any suitable object - a regular pencil, pen or even a carrot! - as a stylus for the Yoga Tab 3 8″ touchscreen

Keeping in mind the peculiarities of the oleophobic coating, we did not conduct an experiment with root vegetables. Let's take Lenovo's word for it :).

Sound

According to Lenovo, two speakers located on the front panel of the tablet are designed to provide us with 3D sound thanks to support for Dolby Atmos. We’re not entirely sure about surround sound, but one thing we can say for sure is that the loudness of the speakers will be the envy of most laptops! You don't have to worry about drowning out the movie's soundtrack with the crunch of popcorn. The sound remains clear and maximum volume. Voice and music are transmitted legibly and fairly accurately. In the very near future, a separate material about the musical abilities of this tablet will appear in the AuDDiolab section.

However, the indisputable advantages of the speakers are somewhat reduced by the built-in microphone. He is not always able to convey speech legibly. And sometimes he simply refused to do it. When communicating on Skype, for example, this feature can fray a lot of nerves. Perhaps this is a problem with a specific instance. But in any case, we recommend testing the device before purchasing by contacting Special attention to the microphone.

Performance

Let's say right away - she is a solid C grade. But for everyday tasks it is quite enough. The firmware is based on Android 5.1.1, which in turn has a beneficial effect on the responsiveness of the interface and increases the efficiency of the use of hardware by software.

The discomfort from a lack of RAM or processor power is practically not felt.

The popularity and usefulness of a media tablet is difficult to dispute, because almost every user at least sometimes wants to relax. Even if you work as a programmer and sit at the computer all day, you will still want to watch an episode of your favorite TV series or even a movie on the way home. Yes, in modern life it is rarely possible to sit down and watch your favorite content on TV, so compact solutions in the form of media tablets compact size have become much more popular than even “large” tablets with a diagonal of 9.7 inches and above. Why? It's simple - users have a desire to watch videos, read books, surf the Internet and play toys. All this can be done on a compact solution with a diagonal of 7-8 inches, only such a tablet lasts a little longer than its “larger” counterparts, it takes up less space and it is much more comfortable to move around in the same subway with a compact solution. Today we decided to talk about those tablet options that we would suggest you buy from the compact gadget segment. Naturally, these will be flagship solutions with a fairly high price tag, but budget options and there are noticeably fewer functions. So, read, choose and buy. Let's go!

The most affordable option for a compact tablet is the ASUS ZenPad 8.0. We, of course, understand that you may find more available options, and on the Chinese market you can generally buy a rocket for a thousand rubles, but we still looked closely at more or less well-known manufacturers with a reputation. The Tablet PC has a display diagonal of 8 inches, so you will be quite comfortable watching movies, playing games and reading some books on the road. The tablet runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 APQ8016 processor; it is built on four computing cores and belongs to the middle class. The tablet's performance will be supported by 1 gigabyte of RAM, and you will store personal content on a built-in 16 gigabyte storage device. It is worth noting that the tablet has a slot for a memory card and you can easily install a card up to 64 gigabytes here. This will be enough to carry your entire media library, including your favorite TV series for entire seasons. The tablet's picture resolution is 12800 by 800 pixels; the matrix is built using IPS technology with wide viewing angles and realistic color reproduction. The cost of the tablet is 14 thousand rubles.

Samsung Company has long burst into the compact tablet market, but their prices previously did not allow us to call Korean products a reasonable choice. When compact tablet with a weak processor it costs as much new iPad- I'm sorry. The situation with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 is significantly different, because despite the set of quite pleasant characteristics, the tablet is not very expensive. The display diagonal here is 8 inches, and the resolution is 1024 by 768 pixels - slightly worse than the previous representative. The matrix here is PLS, wide viewing angles, realistic color reproduction and high brightness are guaranteed. It works the same way inside the tablet. Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 410 with four processing cores and a clock speed of 1.2 gigahertz, but its performance is already supported by two gigabytes of RAM. You are offered to store personal content on a built-in 16 GB drive; you can install a memory card up to 128 GB. The advantage of this tablet can also be called the presence of a 3G module. The cost of the tablet is 15,800 rubles.

Lenovo's tablet can easily be called one of the most controversial options in this segment. Thanks to his interesting design, the product looks noticeably more attractive than competitors, plus you will always have a special built-in stand for placing the tablet on a table or lap. The display diagonal here is also 8 inches, the resolution reaches 1280 by 800 pixels, the matrix is built using IPS technology with all the above bonuses. True, the manufacturer has focused on 4G Internet, which so far does not work as well as it should, even in the very center of Moscow. Due to this, the price tag of the product has increased noticeably, and in terms of performance, the product is completely no different from its competitors - the same four computing cores, the same 16 gigabytes of internal memory and the ability to install a memory card. There is only 1 gigabyte of RAM, which is a bit insufficient for modern gadget. But we are promised autonomy for 20 hours in reading mode and modern operating system Android 5.1. The cost of this version of a compact solution is 22 thousand rubles and this is much more expensive than the version from Samsung.

Next we have tablet coming Apple. For this item, we chose a representative of the third generation, since the second, and especially the first, have long been unable to boast the required performance for modern games and applications. This model has a display diagonal of 7.9 inches, so it is slightly smaller than its competitors in the selection, but the display resolution here reaches 2048 by 1536 pixels. Thanks to the higher pixel density on this tablet It will be more comfortable to read, view photographs with a large number of small elements, surf the Internet, and so on. The tablet computer runs on an Apple A7 processor, a proprietary Apple processor with exceptionally high performance, and the product’s power will be supported by 1 gigabyte of RAM. Yes, by the standards of Android tablets this product rather weak, but let's not forget about application optimization. In the minimum configuration iPad tablet mini 3 has only 16 gigabytes of internal memory without the ability to install a memory card at all. The cost of the product is 25 thousand rubles, that is, twice as expensive as the first representative of compact solutions.

The most expensive product in this selection was, again, an Apple tablet. And, in principle, we are ready to pay even such a high amount for such entertainment opportunities. The fact is that the Apple tablet works iPad mini 4 on the Apple A8 processor, and it is very powerful, there are already 2 gigabytes of RAM installed here and in the minimum configuration the tablet has 16 gigabytes of built-in storage. It is worth noting that there is no game or program on iOS that would be buggy on this tablet. For those who want the most powerful device on the market, the fourth generation iPad mini is the perfect solution. The display diagonal here is also 7.9 inches, the picture resolution is 2048 by 1536 pixels, IPS matrix. True, the tablet’s camera has become a little better, the body is made of metal, while most competitors have plastic bodies. In general, there are enough advantages, but you have to pay for them all. The cost of the gadget is 29 thousand rubles and in our opinion this The best decision in this segment. By purchasing this tablet you will never have to worry about glitches, freezes or system requirements.
