Having chosen what you need, you can customize everything for yourself - the RAM available to the game, the directory into which game clients will be loaded, etc. Next, when we have done all this, go to the game directory, and then to the mods folder (By default, this is C:\Users\Your_User\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft\mods). To install Forge, just run one of the jar files for the desired version and specify the path to the client\server. Then, the installation process will begin.

How to download and install Minecraft Forge API

After the Forge installation is complete, launch the Minecraft launcher and in the lower left corner of the screen, in the “Profile” drop-down list, you will see a new profile called “forge”.
If for some reason you do not have such a profile there, then create it by clicking the “New Profile” button to create a new profile. A window will open where you need to enter the name of the profile you are creating in the “Profile Name” column, and in the “Use version” field at the end of the drop-down list, select the release as in the picture below (the name may differ slightly depending on your version of Minecraft and Forge).
So, the Forge profile has been created. Select it in the “Profile” drop-down list and launch the game. If you have completed all the steps above correctly, you will see the corresponding inscription in the lower left corner of the game window, and a new “Modifications” button will appear in the main menu:

How to install a mod from Minecraft Forge
In order for the Forge API to see the mod, it must be placed in the folder with mods for Minecraft. This folder is located in the user account directory and is indicated on the profile editing page in the “Game Directory” field:

If you do not see the desired folder in the directory with your user name, then enable the ability to show hidden files and folders in your operating system. On Windows, the easiest way to get to the folder is by entering the command %appdata% in the address bar of Explorer:

Let's download it and copy it to the mods folder, after which we launch the game and see a message stating that an incompatibility problem has been identified between Cube World and the current version of Minecraft:
You can leave this window only by closing it. As you can see, Forge saved me from potential problems that could have happened if I had run an incompatible mod myself. And this, as I said above, could lead to loss of saves or reinstallation of the game.
Now let's choose a mod about aggressive zombies for testing. Download and copy it to the mods folder, and then launch the game and go to the “Modifications” menu:
As you can see, the CrackedZombie mod was successfully recognized and installed. If you look closely at the inscriptions, you will see the version of the mod, its author and other information about it. Clicking the “Disable” button in the lower left corner will disable the mod, and the “Config” button hides its configuration menu:
