Technical literature on repairing LCD TVs. Collection of books on repairing domestic and foreign televisions (60 books)

If you are a young specialist in software, then you should know that sometimes finding a problem is much more difficult than solving it, and the solution does not always take 5 minutes. In order to become a true master of your craft, you will need experience, which you will only gain through practice.

Start of renovation

First, you should arm yourself with a diagram of a broken TV and carry out repairs using it. However, in the case of imported TVs, this is not always feasible.

The repair should begin by cleaning the TV. Use a soft brush and vacuum cleaner. Clean all boards and circuits from dust and other debris. Sometimes the problem lies underneath. Inspect all capacitors to see if they are swollen or ruptured. Resistors, transistors and microcircuits could burn out. If a problem is found, fix it by replacing damaged parts.

If there are no visual defects, then you need to start checking the entire TV. You should start by checking the power supply.

To test the power supply, you need to disconnect it from the TV. Next, connect the power supply to a regular incandescent lamp. If the lamp does not light up, then most likely the problem is in the unit. Repairing a power supply is a very long procedure. It is easier and cheaper to purchase a new unit than to repair an old one. However, if you decide to repair it, then stock up on patience, tin and transistors.

In addition to the power supply, during TV repair, problems may arise with horizontal scanning.

When checking the sweep, install an incandescent lamp instead of a fuse. If the lamp lights up for a couple of seconds and then goes out or lights very dimly, then the horizontal scan output stage is working correctly. If the lamp lights up and continues to glow brightly, then be sure that the horizontal capacitor is faulty.

However, most often it is difficult because it is necessary to find a fault in the control unit.

To do this, use a control processor circuit. If you couldn’t get a circuit diagram for a particular TV, then try to download it from the Internet. This will make your work ten times easier.

How to determine that the problem is in the control unit? The main "symptoms" are:

The TV does not turn on;

Does not respond to signals from the remote control;

The TV menu does not appear;

Problems with TV channel settings;

Brightness and contrast problems.

First you need to check the presence of power supplied to the board. Next, we check the signal received from the processor. If there is a signal, then you should look for a problem in the switching circuit. However, if the signal is not received, then you will have to change the entire processor.

Remember, when doing this, you should be as careful as possible and check everything twice, since one carelessness can disrupt the operation of the entire chain. Before starting repairs, check all tools and the availability of spare transistors, resistors and other things you need to work with the circuits.

The rapid development of modern technologies has led to the appearance of LCD TVs (from the English Liquid Crystal Display) on the market at quite affordable prices. Recently, the technical characteristics of LCD panels have improved significantly, which has made it possible to use them as television screens.

LCD TVs use liquid crystal (LCD) matrices, the production technology of which is identical to the technology for producing matrices for computer LCD monitors. An important difference is the noticeably lower resolution of screens intended for installation on televisions and, accordingly, larger pixel sizes. However, when viewing, the pixels are not noticeable because TVs, unlike PC monitors, are installed at a greater distance from the viewer. Let us remind you that according to the recommendations of experts, this distance should be at least three diagonals of the visible image.

The main advantage of LCD TVs over traditional models based on a cathode ray tube (CRT) is the absence of noticeable screen flickering, since the entire screen is not updated at a certain frequency, but individual pixels are turned on and off, and the matrix has a constant backlight. Flicker-free means less eye fatigue during long periods of viewing. Subjectively, the image quality on the LCD screen is also higher - it is characterized by high clarity and the absence of geometric distortions, which are inherent to one degree or another in any picture tube. Finally, LCD models are much more compact than CRT TVs (primarily in terms of body depth), which is especially noticeable when comparing devices with large diagonals.

The main disadvantage of LCD TVs is their high (compared to CRT devices) price: today a regular 21-inch CRT TV costs about $250, while a 20-inch LCD model will cost more than twice as much. For TVs with large diagonals, the price gap is even greater.

Currently, television equipment repair specialists have a certain hunger for information in terms of mastering new equipment. This book will help

to solve this problem - it is entirely devoted to LCD TVs, namely their circuit solutions and troubleshooting typical faults.

The book includes a description of six television chassis from well-known manufacturers: LG Electronics, HORIZONT, Rolsen Electronics, Samsung Electronics, SHARP and Vitek International. Mostly budget models are produced on these chassis.

For summer residents and motorists, a 5-inch diagonal TV from Vitek International is described.

For each model, a schematic diagram is provided (and for some - structural and installation), a detailed description of the operation of its components, electrical adjustments of the chassis that must be performed after repair, a detailed description of the service mode and, most importantly, typical malfunctions, their manifestations and methods of elimination.

When writing the materials in the book, the authors used proprietary service manuals, which included detailed instructions for adjusting and repairing television equipment, catalogs (Datasheets) of integrated circuits from foreign manufacturers, and useful practical experience of specialists from service centers in Moscow and regions of Russia.

It is possible that during the repair some discrepancies between the circuits of a particular TV and those given in the book will be discovered. Manufacturers reserve the right to change circuits in order to improve the consumer characteristics of televisions. Mentions of this are always contained in company manuals.

Please keep in mind that adjusting picture and sound parameters in service mode requires special care. Setting incorrect parameter values can lead to failure of its components. Therefore, you should not experiment with the service mode. In any case, the authors and the publishing house are not responsible for the failure of the TV in the event of errors made when operating in service mode.
