The most optimal settings for the 350 garrett. Search with ACE Euro

After completing two search seasons, I learned the zen in identifying (discriminating) pure signals during instrumental search with an ACE Garrett 350 Euro. Which, in fact, is what I want to talk about now and here. Naturally, these are just my personal and private guesses and conclusions, but after their application the number of extra holes decreased significantly, and the number of interesting finds (oddly enough) increased. Maybe due to the fact that time is not wasted digging for plugs and wires, and it is possible to go through and check a larger space.

In fact, this device I have is quite simple, but extremely reliable and stable. For two years, as they say, I got better at it and this spring I began to fully understand the signals of the device. You say: “What is there to understand about it? There is a clear discrimination scale with equally clear segments.” But read this article and maybe you will change your mind. Yes, and by the way, you can try to check my speculations on other types and brands of metal detectors, because the operating principle is the same for almost all of them.

Naturally and quite definitely, there is no arguing that the best discriminator is a shovel. But this is for those who have a lot of time and energy))). We are not looking for easy and simple ways, so we carefully invent methods and methods for additional signal discrimination.

How to determine a clear (accurate, clean) signal? How you want to know and be sure that what you are digging is an interesting object, and not a cork, a wire, a nail... Let's go in order and on to this subsequent story.

Let’s say you caught a signal located in the “coin” sectors of the discrimination scale of your ACE Garrett 350 Euro metal detector (or, probably, another one). To dig or not to dig? Let's check this signal some other time, if it remains a coin signal, then don't think twice about digging it. Well, if after the following steps you doubt the availability, then “the best discriminator is a shovel” can confirm this for you.

I divided the methods of additional discrimination into two groups:
- physical;
- instrumentation.

Let's start with physical. Well, first of all, try the signal again (it’s trivial, but this is the first and mandatory thing, everyone does it, but you need to write it down). Then try changing the speed of the coil wire, try turning around and checking the signal in a different direction. Is the signal still clear or are there already doubts? We continue our research. Try changing the height of the coil wire above the signal, how will the signal behave? Does the change in depth that your MD shows correspond to the change in coil wire height? It is also important how the signal behaves at the edge of the coil (front or rear), a clear signal at the edge of the coil remains clear, and the signal from the “shmurdyak” will go to other segments. All this is done very quickly, but gives us an additional 5 (five!!!) ways to discriminate the signal.

Well, a little bit instrumentation methods. Change the “feel” up or down, and again see how the signal behaves. Here we must not forget that when the sensitivity is reduced, a deep signal may move into other segments of the discrimination scale, but this again may, on the contrary, be useful for determining the actual depth of objects. And now it's time for the pinpointer. First and foremost, the depth determined by ICQ in the search mode and in the pinpointer mode must correlate. Those. if in search mode it shows you 15-20 cm, and in pinpointer mode it shows 5 cm, then this is definitely not a coin, but a large piece of metal. Again, if you are interested, of course, dig, but you will already know what you are digging. Another very important point when discriminating with a pinpointer is that if you are unable to find the center of the target in pinpointer mode, then there is definitely a large object lying in the ground. And, yes... after searching for a target with a pinpointer, recheck the signal in search mode. Often, the pinpointer “magnetizes” the target (or changes its potential) and can move to other segments of the discrimination scale.

Something like this... And you said "...a clear discrimination scale with equally clear segments...". Above, 9 (nine!!!) additional ways to discriminate targets were shown.

Whether to use them or not is always decided on a case-by-case basis. Of course, there is a possibility of missing something with additional discrimination, but if you decide to dig only clean signals, then this list will help you.

Good luck with your instrument search! I look forward to your comments on this and other articles.

Unfortunately, there are not always comrades who can sensibly and clearly explain how one metal detector differs from another, what is most important in the search, and in general, what determines whether a person will have swag or leave the field empty. I think there is no point in talking about the characteristics of the device, since this information is available on the endless expanses of the Internet, but if you wish and have the opportunity, you can visit any treasure hunting store and read with your own eyes the manuals and instructions available there.

The truth is that the ACE EURO metal detector is simple and reliable, like a “tank”. Later in the article I will consider that this simplicity is only apparent, but in principle, it is these moments that determine its popularity. By the way, please note that the EURO model already has a DD coil installed, which makes this metal detector even more interesting.

Advantages of ACE EURO

So, if you read the instructions, it becomes clear that it is enough to turn on ACE, select the desired mode and you can perform . Yes, it is, it is precisely this simplicity (no need to rebuild the device from the ground, no need to immediately set the sensitivity, no need to understand the discriminator yourself) that determines the fact that this device is so popular.

Read the instructions: everything is simple and concise

On the other hand, the search process opens up new opportunities and tricks. For example, given that the adjustment to the ground occurs automatically, it is advisable when you turn on the device not to immediately start waving it, but to do the following:

  1. Place the device with the coil on the ground
  2. Turn on the device
  3. Wait until it stops beeping (usually two indicator sounds are heard)
  4. Start searching or make settings

Of course, you don’t have to do this, but from a logical point of view, it’s better to do just that: the device needs to somehow be adjusted and determine the soil parameters. I may be wrong, but spending a couple of seconds on this manipulation is not a pity.

ACE EURO settings for search

Let's look further - this is the discrimination setting. I have already said that over the years the search engine switches to searching on all metals, and this device allows you to do this. You can safely select the search mode for all metals and “enjoy life.” The whole point is that at first it is better to check all the signals (both color and black), because this is the only way the learning process occurs.

On ACE you can choose the discrim mode that you need, you can even experiment: stack coins, pile them, place them on their edges. “Experiments” will show that sometimes even colored targets can ring black - take note of this. By the way, even more advanced and popular models of metal detectors are guilty of this. Only experience will help here!

If your metal detector is constantly beeping, there are many ways to eliminate the beeping noise. This sometimes happens when a person has installed a more serious coil. Try lowering the sensitivity on ACE by 1-2 notches, and life will get better.

The next point, which I have already written about more than once, is the swing speed of the device. If the wiring is too slow, the device may not “catch” the find; if it is too fast, something may be missed. The “golden mean” is important here. How to find her? Again, take different coins with you to the fields, bury them and do the test.

But here the reliability will be slightly doubtful, since things that have lain in the ground for decades oxidize, and a “cloud of their own” forms around them, which also affects detection. Therefore, do not rush to dig up the find right away, move the reel over it at different speeds, and remember the result.

Someone says that there is some play at the junction of the ACE rods. Yes, this happens. But this can be treated quite quickly - a couple of turns of electrical tape in this place on the assembled rod, and you can walk for days, everything will be fine.

When buying a metal detector, in particular the one we are talking about, make sure to immediately strengthen the armrest. Oddly enough, on some devices in this series the armrests last for years, and on some devices they quickly fail and simply break. It is clear that in the event of a breakdown, everything can be repaired, you can make a homemade armrest, buy a new one, and so on. But it’s better not to let it come to that.

Now about the batteries. ACE devices are sensitive to batteries losing charge. In this case, the device, roughly speaking, begins glitch. Keep this in mind, keep a spare set of batteries, otherwise the search will turn into a nightmare. By the way, there are devices that “squeeze” the batteries to “0”, but this does not affect the operation of the device in any way.

There is another nuance - these are headphones. In fact, this point can be applied to all metal detectors, but especially with regard to the ACE series. Firstly, you can pick up a weak signal, and secondly, since these devices do not have a volume control, the ACE “screams” quite loudly, and the person seems to be unmasking himself, which is not very pleasant. Therefore, when buying this metal detector, the main thing is to immediately buy headphones.

What more can be said? It should be noted that with a standard coil, the ACE 350 has an excellent pinpoint, but it is better to double-check the find on both sides, since there are cases when the device shows “color” on one side, and if you go from the other, it already gives off a black mark.

Of course, you can write something else, but you just won’t remember everything at once, everything is already automatic. Another thing is important: this metal detector is a serious device. And no matter what anyone says, it was the accessibility, simplicity and quality of this metal detector that allowed it to become the most recognizable, a kind of workhorse.

And even if it lacks some settings, somewhere it loses in depth, but in general, the ACE EURO is a worthy machine with which you can enter this hobby, enter it for a long time. And many search engines, who, due to their preferences, having accumulated knowledge and experience, purchased another metal detector, keep the ACE as a spare device, since it is simply a pity to give it away - after all, it is a reliable comrade who is used to working in the most difficult conditions.

Metal detector Garrett Euro ACE, an inexpensive detector and immediately complete with a large DD coil, a rare combination of price and a coil of increased depth. How a metal detector works, what is on the screen and how to control the detector while searching.

Device settings, ready-made search programs and a customizable user mask. Differences between the Euro ACE metal detector and the American analogue ACE 350. Pros and cons in search practice.

Metal detector, American manufacturer Gareth. Developed on the basis of the legendary Garrett ACE 250 metal detector, which has a special reputation in Ukraine. Added average filtration for metal debris, expanded discrimination zone for ferrous metals, target depth scale in centimeters, and of course a large new coil.

The Garrett Euro ACE metal detector coil is one of its biggest advantages. It is rare for an inexpensive metal detector to have such a coil included in the kit. In addition, this reel has a Double-D type.

Search engine Leonid, Kirovograd. Search experience with ACE 250 for three years, with Garrett Euro ACE for the second season. How does the Garrett Euro ACE reel compare to the ACE 250? Findings are seen deeper! The difference with the standard ACE 250 coil (6.5 by 9 inches, Mono) and the standard Euro ACE coil (8.5 by 11 inches, DD) is noticeable immediately and on all finds. For example, 3 kopecks 1852 (a coin with a slightly larger size than average), in reality in ACE 250 soil it can be raised to 27-28 centimeters, with Garrett Euro ACE I dug it out from a depth of 32 centimeters. Again, the DD coil type has its own built-in compensation for the effect of ground mineralization. A trifle compared to the same ground capabilities of the Garrett AT Pro metal detector, but it won’t be superfluous.

Classic design of a ground metal detector. Garrett Euro ACE, completely repeats its predecessor ACE 250, and retains the advantages. The light weight of the detector allows you to go through the whole day, and the next day your hand will not fall off. Easy to assemble, ready to search from the traveling state in just a few seconds. Adjustable height to suit the height of the searcher. Reliable in the field and economical in power supply.

Controlling the Garrett Euro ACE metal detector in the field comes down to a combination of selecting a search program and adjusting the sensitivity of the metal detector. It is very easy to disassemble Euro ACE, and in 15 minutes you are already conducting a full-fledged search. The metal detector comes with a video disc that teaches you how to start searching.

Euro ACE search programs

Jewelry (Jewelry). The program includes finds from the field of jewelry. Rings, bracelets, watches and necklaces, this mask also includes coins.

Custom. A search (discrimination) program that can be fully customized by the user. The default settings for this program are the same as for the Coins program. User settings are saved when the ACE 250 is turned off in memory, and are available the next time it is turned on.

Relics. Search program that excludes metal debris containing ferrous metal. But groups of metals like lead and bronze have a response. Designed to search for ancient artifacts.

Coins. Search program for finding coins.

Zero (All Metals). The program is configured to search for any types of metals. And even in the All Metals mode, in the Garrett Euro ACE metal detector, finds can be divided by the type of tonal response. For example, for ferrous metal it is a low sound, for coins it is high.

When talking about the operation of the Garrett Euro ACE metal detector, one cannot fail to mention its American counterpart, the Garrett ACE 350. The Garrett ACE 350 metal detector is an American version, the Garrett Euro ACE is intended for the European market.

The differences are small, but there is a big nuance for Ukraine. The Garrett Euro ACE metal detector has a wider range of ferrous metals on the discrimination scale. The target depth scale in the Garrett Euro ACE is marked in centimeters. The coin program settings vary.

A nuance on the Garrett ACE 350. The ACE 350 metal detector is not accepted for warranty service in Ukraine. Not officially imported.
