To do this, unscrew the two bolts in the corners and pull out the cable. This is what our receiver looks like inside.

Now let's assemble the receiver and see it in action.

Insert the power supply and press the power button. On the front panel you will see that the clock has turned on. This clock will always show, in constant mode.

Turning on and setting up channels for the first time.

In order to switch the channel, you need to press the OK button and a list of channels will appear on the screen. Select the one you need and click OK again.

You will see the message Coded channel. Next we need to insert the card that comes with the receiver into the card receiver, and now you can watch many channels for every taste in excellent quality.

You can watch a video review of the GS U510 Tricolor TV receiver below:

All the best!

The GS U510 receiver, according to the manufacturer, is a breakthrough in the development of Russian microelectronics.

Well... I don’t feel sorry for the firstborn with Russian processor wish you success!

But, as they say... we’ll wait, evaluate, and then approve!

And this microprocessor was discussed for a long time, since it was in development for about two years.

And so... GS-U510 is newest model branded HD receiver from Tricolor TV.

The new product officially replaces the GS-8307 and HD-9305 models; from now on, these devices are discontinued and the only current model is GS-U510.

The device is “packed” into a compact case like the GS-8307, but at the same time it has all the functionality previously inherent only in the older model HD-9305:

However…. Tricolor, in my opinion, is making its last (but good) bet to remain a significant player in the satellite broadcasting market.

Great, today we will look and study as much as possible new receiver GS-U510 (this is a receiver from model range 2013). This wonderful device makes Russian company General Satellite. There are many enthusiastic posts on the Internet about this receiver - supposedly, this is an ultra-modern device with a super processor Russian production on new cutting-edge firmware. But all these posts are reposts from official release manufacturer. What the new receiver really is like - only operation will show.

The receiver itself comes in two versions - black - GS U510B and gray - GS U510S. In terms of case size and appearance, it is practically no different from its predecessors - GS 8307/GS 8308.

All the same buttons, display, card reader on the front panel. But we, of course, are interested in the contents of the receiver - and more on that a little later. In the meantime, let's see how the receiver looks in different color options

GS U510B black - photo

In general, the dimensions of receivers for tricolor TV have decreased with the advent of the 8ХХХ series. And the GS U510 receiver in question, which replaced the 8XXX series receivers, is no exception. His dimensions make it easy to place it on a shelf or nightstand, and its height allows it to be placed under the TV. Etc. The receiver doesn't stand out much.

GS U510 - front panel

Actually, in the photo above everything is clearly visible - the front panel is home to the POWER button, volume control and channel switching buttons, and the receiver's card reader slot is hidden under the cover on the right. The display is located in the center. It can show the number of the current channel, time of day and the state of the receiver during service procedures - firmware download, flashing. In general, nothing outstanding, but the front panel looks quite decent.

GS U510 - rear panel of the receiver

GS U510 - receiver rear panel, equipment

The rear panel carries all the vital connectors and inputs:

1. LNB IN input for connecting an antenna cable

2. LNB OUT loop output for connecting subsequent Tricolor receivers. Connecting a receiver, for example for NTV, to this output will no longer be correct.

3. HDMI output i SCART for connecting to TVs of different levels of modernity

4. Power connector and connector for connecting the IR receiver of the remote control signal.

6. USB connector— through it you can flash the receiver, as well as read multimedia content from a flash drive. True, so far such content is only photos in JPEG format. It is possible that the capabilities of viewing multimedia files will be expanded in the next firmware.

This is the photo of the IR input and power connector (right half of the rear panel)

Well, the left half - most of the inputs/outputs are concentrated on it. The case itself (its two detachable parts) is covered with a sticker - so you won’t be able to disassemble the receiver without voiding the warranty.

(otherwise we would definitely have taken it apart by now)

GS U510 - receiver power supply

Why is it important to write here about such an insignificant thing as a power supply? The power supply becomes important when the original one burns out and you have to look for an analogue with a suitable current and voltage. So in the photo of the power supply all the necessary ratings are clearly visible. The power supply is used remotely - this allows you to reduce the size of the body of the receiver itself and reduce its heating. If the remote power supply fails, replacing it is extremely simple. So, here is the power supply used for the GS U510

GS U510 - technical specifications and capabilities

GS U510 - firmware and processor

The firmware and CPU in this receiver deserve special mention. The firmware was rewritten almost from scratch. Now, when making settings, various beautiful icons appear and appearance the window looks like Android system. The firmware itself added things that the vast majority of subscribers will never use - games, for example. But they added it for order. A nice change in the firmware has resulted in the channel list displayed on the screen becoming more readable - thanks to the larger font and contrasting color scheme. This can be clearly seen in the photo below.

The firmware developed for the GS U510 will apparently become standard and will be used in subsequent models of GS receivers

GS U510 - channel list display

Now regarding the processor.

A representative of the manufacturer of the entire GS U510 receiver reports that the processor is Russian-developed and its packaging also takes place in the Russian Federation. Reading between the lines, it is clear that the processor itself is manufactured abroad and the main thing about it is ours - i.e. idea. Well, packaging has little to do directly with the production of a processor chip. Although official sources report that the microprocessor was developed and produced by the GS Nanotech plant.

Practice shows that the receiver really does well with the new processor inside - it works quickly, does not freeze with a normal signal from the antenna, scanning channels is also fast, and switches channels without significant delays. So the new receiver on the new processor turned out to be really good (especially if you compare the receiver only with other receivers produced by General Satellite).

The firmware and processor are precisely the significant difference between the new receiver and the old ones, with which it is united only by an externally similar case and its dimensions.

GS U510 - breakthrough or evolution?

From a technical point of view, it can be argued that the GS U510 is truly a breakthrough. From the point of view of the user and daily operation, the receiver does not offer users anything new - all the same channels are still in the same quality as previously on the receivers 8306, 9303, 8307 and other HD versions of receivers for Tricolor TV. So there is no need to talk about a breakthrough here. True, the nice thing is that the new firmware version draws a beautiful, high-contrast and large print list of channels. Moreover, searching for channels is now faster and looks more beautiful thanks to animation in the menu.

Instead of a conclusion, we can say that the receiver turned out to be good. Fast. There is no reason not to choose it. By at least as of August 2014.

Included with the receiver are: general leadership user manual, manual directly for the gs u510 receiver, hdmi cord, 3RCA-3RCA cord, adapter from scart to tulip, remote control + batteries.

GS U510 - connection cords and remote control

UPD from December 31, 2017 - operating practice has shown that vulnerable spot This receiver has a 12V 2A power supply. Over time, the input capacitors of this power supply dry out and it ceases to provide the required power supply. This power supply simply needs to be replaced. Characteristic this problem - the receiver hangs in boot or constantly reboots.
