Help promoting your youtube channel. Quick YouTube channel promotion

If you want to become popular and make money from it, then you need to start promoting a YouTube channel now. YouTube is the most popular video hosting service, which has become a constant source of income for many famous bloggers, streamers and other interesting and enterprising people. But as you know, popularity does not come on its own, it has to be earned.

Preparing the channel for promotion

To quickly promote a YouTube channel from scratch, you need to use paid and free promotion methods in combination. But before you start optimizing and advertising your channel, you need to create and design it correctly.

To create a promising channel you need:

  • Decide on the topic and niche that the channel will occupy on YouTube. Choosing a topic is a very important step. The fact is that in popular and profitable niches it is much more difficult to promote a channel. But if you still manage to do this, then the earnings there will be appropriate. It's best to do what you really understand. And it doesn’t matter whether it’s entertainment, children’s, gaming or scientific content. Passion and dedication always attracts viewers.
  • Watch videos from popular bloggers and come up with your own personal trick. Every popular blogger on YouTube has their own “trick”. This makes the person memorable, which prevents him from being confused with anyone else.
  • Create a memorable image. Creating an image should be focused on the target audience. The closer the presenter is to the viewer, the more attractive he will seem.
  • Shoot several videos using high-quality equipment. Good video quality in 2017 is an integral part of a popular channel. Therefore, light, equipment, and sound must be of not ideal quality, but not worse than standard.
  • Before publishing, find out the opinions of friends and acquaintances and bring the image to perfection. The help of friends and acquaintances at first will help to identify all the shortcomings and work on all the weak points. Therefore, you need to try to connect as many people as possible, because in return you can get really valuable advice.

Types of promotion

When the user already has his own account with a small collection of videos, it is not clear what to do next. Wastefully leaking videos that no one watches is a very dubious activity. Therefore, you need to put the camera aside and get busy promoting.

There are two types of channel promotion:

  • paid;
  • free.

The issue of money is always relevant, but to achieve the goal you need to be guided by other characteristics of the available promotion methods, namely their effectiveness. Otherwise, instead of quickly gaining subscribers, time will be spent on meaningless and useless activities.

Channel promotion – do you need to pay?

Some people sincerely believe that to become popular on YouTube, it is enough to make a spectacular video, post it online, and a new trend is ready. Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Even the most charismatic and ambitious blogger can remain unnoticed.

Advantages of paid channel promotion:

  • quick recruitment of “live” subscribers;
  • minimal investment of time and effort;
  • guarantee of results.

Most of the sites and applications that offer free money lie. After all, their main contingent are bots. They, in turn, are of no value to the owner of the YouTube channel.

Proper promotion can be much cheaper if you first take a short course on the basics of Internet marketing. But this takes time. Training includes working with Yandex.Direct and Google Adwords, the basics of SEO optimization, viral marketing and much more. If you plan to make working on the Internet your main field of activity, then such skills and knowledge will not hurt.

Paid promotion methods

If at the start you have at least a small budget that can be spent on promotion, then the chances of professionally promoting your YouTube channel are significantly higher than without it. But you need to invest money wisely, so first you need to familiarize yourself with the existing methods of paid channel promotion.

Paid methods include:

  • purchasing subscribers on specialized exchanges;
  • services of freelancers and professional promotion agencies;
  • purchase of advertising.

Each of these methods has its own advantages and disadvantages. But in general, their effectiveness has long been confirmed in practice. Many, without understanding the essence of each of these methods, hastily give money to just anyone, and receive nothing in return. Therefore, it is worth considering them in more detail.

Services for buying subscribers, likes and comments

Buying subscribers is in demand among “newbies” on video hosting. Some sincerely hope that after acquiring a couple of thousand subscribers, the channel will immediately get to the TOP and advertising prices will rise to exorbitant amounts. It should be said right away that this is not so.

No matter how many users are attracted through the exchange, they will not be able to make the channel popular. The fact is that the goal of such subscribers is to get money. They are not interested in the published content, therefore, there is little value from such viewers.

But for a developing channel, a large number of subscribers makes it more attractive to “live” users. It has been noticed that before people start watching a video, they look at how many users are interested in it and how many liked it. And only then do they decide whether it’s worth spending their time watching. Therefore, the larger the channel’s purchased audience, the more “live” users it will attract.

On specialized services you can buy:

  • subscribers;
  • comments.

To promote a channel on YouTube, subscribers alone will not be enough. The number of views and likes are the main parameters for raising a channel to the TOP. And for the video hosting administration, it will be obvious that a large number of subscribers without activity on the channel is the result of cheating. And this, in turn, can lead to their mass write-off and account blocking. Therefore, to create the appearance of real promotion, you will need to not only gain subscribers, but also create imaginary user activity.

You can also see a selection of YouTube promotion services divided into categories on the blog of the service for working with bloggers EPICSTARS.

All operations for purchasing spectators are carried out remotely. The channel owner simply selects the desired package of subscribers (500, 1000, 5000 or more people) and pays for it with a bank card or e-wallet. There are no and cannot be any guarantees other than reviews from previous customers. Therefore, it is important to be vigilant so as not to run into scammers.

To do this, you need to follow some rules:

  • The official website may contain fake reviews, so before purchasing you need to study the site’s reputation on third-party resources.
  • Before purchasing, you need to analyze sellers' prices.
  • The first costs should be minimal to ensure the quality of the services provided. It is better to buy packages of 100 or 500 subscribers.
  • Exchanges and services that promise to gain subscribers in a couple of hours should be treated with distrust. After all, a sharp increase in subscribers can be a reason to block a YouTube channel.
  • After purchasing, you need to carefully monitor the activity on the channel.

User activity shows the number of subscriptions, unsubscribes, likes and comments left over a certain period of time. If, after purchasing subscribers, the number of subscriptions increased sharply, and a week later gradually decreased by the same number, and during this time not a single like or comment was made, then you should no longer return to the services of the exchange that cheated them.

Professional channel promotion

The services of professionals in the field of Internet promotion can completely save the owner of a YouTube channel from any hassle. You can order full channel promotion either from a special agency or from a freelancer. However, the cost of such services is, to put it mildly, rather high.

The secret of specialists in the field of Internet marketing is a proven and tested promotion strategy, using techniques, competent SEO optimization and the correct setup of advertising campaigns. To master all these skills, the average user will need more than one month. Therefore, the price for specialist services is appropriate.

When choosing a suitable specialist to whom you can entrust your channel, you should make sure that he uses only “white hat” promotion methods in his work. Otherwise, published videos may be banned, views written off, and the channel even blocked.

YouTube channel advertising

  • On forums and social networks. Of course, you can post videos on forums and social networks for free. Only the owners of communities and forums will remove such “advertising” within a few minutes, so there will be little benefit from this. You can officially promote a channel either through advertising exchanges in social media, or directly through the administrators of the sites of interest.
  • Using Google AdWords. Google AdWords is a powerful advertising tool that allows you to publish video ads on YouTube. Advertisements placed in this way are published either on video hosting pages or broadcast during video playback. All the advertiser needs to do is shoot a commercial, determine the budget for the advertising campaign and set the parameters of the target audience.
  • On video blogs of other authors. Many of the popular bloggers themselves offer their PR services for developing YouTube channels. When choosing a suitable person, you need to look at how many subscribers he has, whether there are fake accounts among them, and how many there are. If the majority of the audience of a supposedly popular blogger was recruited by a cheap program, investing in such advertising will be pointless. Bloggers set prices themselves and, as a rule, they depend on the advertising format. This could be adding an advertiser’s video to your favorites, holding a joint competition, a promotional video at the end of a video, or a joint release that is published simultaneously on two channels.

Paid promotion of a channel on YouTube will not necessarily extract the last money from its owner. If you analyze all the available paid methods and combine them with free ones, you can inexpensively and at the same time quickly gain the coveted popularity. Therefore, you should not stop halfway and give up on your intended goal. The sooner you start work, the faster this goal will be achieved.

Not really

Users who run their channels on the popular video hosting site YouTube do so not only for the sake of a hobby. The main goal of most is income. And you can really make money there. Uses this video service monthly more than a billion people. This is almost a third of all Internet users. If you figure out how to promote a YouTube channel and achieve your goal, you can earn good money on the Internet.

Before considering methods of promoting a YouTube channel for free or for money, it is worth highlighting the basic principles of work:

Free ways to promote your YouTube channel

Many people understand that the more subscribers, the more opportunities the profile owner will have. Therefore, users, especially those who are focused on making money, are looking for working ways to quickly promote a channel on Youtube.

As stated earlier, the primary focus should be on content. Often, authors who publish videos useful to the audience only need to film, edit and post the material, such a profile promotes itself.

To speed up your YouTube channel promotion, you can use the following methods.

Correct and beautiful profile design

To stand out among competitors, it is important to create a unique “face” of your profile and competently present the video material published on it:

The user interface allows you to:

  • Set an avatar. It will be visible when publishing comments, in search results, and in the list of subscriptions. A memorable image, a photo of a blogger or a company logo will increase recognition;
  • Design the cover, i.e. upload a unique banner. It is important that it is combined with the theme of the published videos;
  • Create and optimize playlists. With their help, you can set up convenient navigation by combining thematic videos. This will not only make it easier for users to navigate, but will also encourage them to watch additional videos.
  • Create sections. With their help, you can distribute videos on the main profile page in a convenient and attractive form for the viewer.
  • Download trailer. The main purpose is to introduce the audience to the topics of the published videos and motivate them to become subscribers.

Correct and attractive design will allow you to receive natural subscribers for free.

Also, to the correct design it is worth adding SEO promotion of a youtube channel, i.e. creating videos for specific search queries and drawing up the correct optimized description for them. To select keywords, you can use special services Mutagen, Yandex.Wordstat, Key Collector, Google keyword tool.

Regular publication of new video content

Successful free promotion of a Youtube channel also lies in the right strategy. Here it is important to understand the critical points for audience retention, i.e. how many videos should be published so that the audience’s interest is always in a “heated” state. On average, it is considered that two videos per week are enough. But it all depends on the topic, for example, popular bloggers who keep personal diaries publish videos more often and immediately gain a good number of views. When trying to fill your profile with video content, it is important to remember that the priority is not the quantity of material posted, but its quality.

Publishing videos on social networks, forums, blogs

This method is not only an option for video promotion, but also an option for promoting a YouTube channel and recruiting free subscribers. If the material is really interesting and useful, many users not only share it with friends, but also go to the author’s profile to get acquainted with other content.

You can post new videos:

Communicating with viewers and encouraging them to take action

For a good indicator of behavioral factors, it is important to receive feedback from subscribers and viewers in the form of likes, comments and subscriptions; this directly affects the promotion of the channel on Youtube.

For this purpose, you can conduct surveys asking you to leave your answers and opinions in the comments under the video. You can also ask your audience to subscribe and like directly in the video. For example, “If you liked this video, please like and subscribe to my channel.” According to statistics, people often respond to such calls.

Youtube channel promotion for money

Mutual PR deals are also effective. To promote your channel, you can ask other YouTubers for help. On EPICSTARS you can do this for free, using the mutual PR deal:

For those who want to promote their video blog for free, you can try working with SMOFast and TurboLiker. These are convenient and understandable services for promoting a YouTube channel for free. On them you can order all the same actions as on paid projects, only payment is made using credits, which the owner will earn for performing various actions ordered by other participants.

To achieve good results, it is better to combine promotion methods. But it is important to remember that artificially boosting behavioral factors can negatively affect the ranking of video content and profile promotion. Particular attention should be paid to the quality of published material and the design of your profile.

Promotion on social media is not slowing down. We try to quickly pick up new trends, analyze which of them are useful for small businesses and freelancers, and immediately share them with you. We don’t write about video content often, but we can’t ignore it completely. SEO specialist of the Azconsult project Vladimir Dichev today will talk about the features of promoting a YouTube channel.

A couple of years ago an article was written about that, and today we will talk about promoting a channel on YouTube. A logical question may arise: why promote a channel if there are already promoted videos from which traffic comes? The answer is simple: comprehensive promotion of a channel on YouTube gives a much greater effect than promotion of individual videos.

If you approach the problem systematically, then promoting a channel on Youtube breaks down into three tasks:

  1. Attracting the audience. How to make sure that as many people as possible switch to your channel?
  2. Involvement. How to get the most channel visitors to your landing page/site?
  3. Sales. What to do with those who go to the site, how best to work with them?

Attracting an audience on Youtube

The main task of promoting a Youtube channel is to attract an audience from search engines. We focus both on Yandex and Google, as well as on YouTube search itself. It is clear that search engines rank videos mainly based on text factors, but in Youtube search the situation is somewhat more complicated. Here are several factors that are identified as significant when ranking a video (all factors, of course, are known only to Youtube itself):

  • Average video viewing time (not in absolute values, but in percentage). That is, the more people watch the video from start to finish, the better.
  • Number of views of the video.
  • The volume of links to the video (links from social networks, from other sites, etc.).
  • The number of users who shared your video on social networks.
  • Number of channel subscribers (a video from a channel with more subscribers, all other things being equal, will receive a higher ranking than a video from a channel with fewer subscribers).
  • Ratio of likes and dislikes.
  • Video recording quality. Youtube gives preference to high quality videos.
  • Tags. They help YouTube determine the relevance of a video to a user's request.

Since it is impossible to say unambiguously what the “weight” of each factor is, I recommend paying attention to everything. From this list it follows that:

  • owners who systematically work to promote their channel on YouTube and increase the number of subscribers have an advantage;
  • short videos are more profitable than long ones (this is mostly true);
  • It is beneficial to combine Youtube channel promotion with other promotion methods, primarily social networks and mailing (we get additional views, likes, shares and links).

But the playlist has one more useful property that is not listed in the help! Since this is a page with a unique URL, it can also be promoted in search engines. Queries are selected as for a single video, but it is better to use more general keys. For example, your playlist contains 10 English lessons. You enter a request, for example, “English for beginners” in the title (you can even use a direct entry) and insert SEO text into the playlist description.

Subtitles

Subtitles, like descriptions for videos, are used by YouTube and Google when searching. It is advisable that the description of the videos and the text of the subtitles do not match, this will diversify the queries by which your video will be searched.

How to add subtitles to YouTube videos

Tags

When choosing tags, you should use both specific queries on your topic and, of course, more general ones. For selection, you can use YouTube tips and tags by which your competitors’ videos were promoted.

There are two ways to find competitor tags:

  • Manual.

We enter a competitor’s video in the YouTube search. Then we open the page in HTML code and look for a search using the word keywords. However, we are not looking for the first keyword value on the page, but the second.

As an example, I took a video on learning programming, opened it in HTML code and started searching for keywords. First value found: - this is a meta tag, we don’t need it.

We need the second value, since it contains the complete list of tags: "keywords":".NET,SergeiTerehov.Art,Terehov Sergey,PascalABC,Pascal,Programming,Programmer School,Lesson,OOP,C#,C++,BASIC,from,scratch,complete,Computer Programming (Conference Subject),Computer (Industry ),C# (Programming Language),Software (Industry),Popular Culture (Media Genre),Information (Quotation Subject),Programming from scratch.”

  • Auto.

There are services that show YouTube video tags. I won’t advertise them, firstly, because there are many of them, and secondly, you can find one that suits your taste - either a separate service or a browser plugin. You type in such a request in Yandex/Google, for example, and voila!

Audience engagement: performing a targeted action by a channel user

So, the user came to your channel and even watched the video. What to do next to avoid losing it in the future? Ivan Tsarevich / Vasilisa the Wise again faces three tasks:

  • Task No. 1: the user watches as many channel videos as possible, shares them (likes them on social networks or posts them on websites) and does other actions that increase the authority of the channel on YouTube.
  • Task No. 2: the user subscribes to the channel.
  • Task No. 3: the user goes to your website or landing page.

Let's start with the simplest task: keeping the user on the channel. What can be used for this?

With its help, you can create a teaser that will recommend users to watch, for example, a recently published video or an interesting playlist in all your videos. Any additional views increase the rating of your video/channel.

Details of working with this function can be found again in YouTube help.

Playlists

When adding videos to the playlists we have already mentioned, the user does not go to another channel after watching, but continues to watch the next video from the playlist, also improving the ranking factors of your channel.

Sections

You've structured your video, but you end up with a lot of playlists and the main one is still a mess?

Meanwhile, playlists can be combined into sections, and there can be up to ten such sections. They are located on the main page.

How to create a section on YouTube:

  • Enable the "Browse" page view on the channel.
  • Scroll down the channel's main page.
  • Find the “Add Section” button and click it.
  • From the Content menu, select the type of content you want to put in the section.
  • In the “Layout” menu, select the type of video arrangement: horizontal or list.
  • Click "Done."

You can read more about working with partitions.

Now the user can easily navigate among your videos, which increases the chances not only of the desired action on his part, but also of the overall promotion of your channel on YouTube.

Channel brand icon

You can add any icon to your video (for example, your company logo), which will be displayed on the main page of the channel and in the lower right corner in all videos:

  • at the time you specify,
  • at the end of the video,
  • throughout the entire video.

Why is this necessary?

Firstly, you once again remind the user that he is on your channel. 🙂

Secondly, when you hover over the icon while watching a video, YouTube shows the number of subscribers to your channel and offers you to subscribe to it. That is, you get an additional call to action, which is never superfluous.

As for when to show this icon, there is no universal recipe: experiment with your content. The only thing is that in long videos I would not recommend putting it at the end, since fewer people watch them in full than short ones. However, perhaps you have the type of content that your client watches in its entirety. 🙂

How to set a channel icon, read the help.

You can change the display time of the icon in the video by following these steps: My Channel / Video Manager / Channel / Corporate Identity.

Annotations

The role of annotations has already been written about, but I can only add:

  • Annotations are shown only on PCs; for mobile devices you must use Hints And End screen. Analyze your traffic using Youtube Analitics and be sure to take into account where the user is coming from when promoting your YouTube channel.
  • Often in videos you can find only type annotations Note or Callout. However, if you know how to work with video even a little, use your skills. No one is stopping you, for example, from drawing a beautiful button, placing it in a video, and then putting an annotation on it Frame, eventually receiving a bright, beautiful link. Don't be afraid to experiment and look for the solution that best suits your type of content.
Tips and end screen

Tips on YouTube have been around for a long time, but End screen appeared quite recently. It appears at the end of the video, lasts 5-20 seconds and can contain up to 4 active elements with which you can:

  • recommend watching a video/playlist/channel,
  • subscribe to the channel,
  • go to the website/purchase a product, etc.

End screens are visible when viewed from any type of device, even if the viewer has disabled annotations. Please note, however, that if you have a long video, the user may not watch it to the end and may not see the splash screen as a result. Learn more about end screens.

Sales and further work with the Youtube audience

So, the user clicked on the treasured button and went... Where?

How to correctly implement the final stage of channel promotion and monetize traffic from Youtube?

There are two common solutions.

Sell immediately

You can transfer the user directly to the site, for example, to a product card or section, so that he selects and buys the desired product. The option is not bad, but not everyone buys it (and not right away), and as a result we lose many customers: they leave the site and there is no connection with them. At best, we can broadcast advertising to them using retargeting.

Take contact

A more interesting option, in which the user is transferred to a landing page and is offered, for example, a gift in exchange for an email/phone number/subscription to a group on social networks.

Cons - no quick sales, pros - the conversion rate will still be higher than in direct sales, since everyone loves gifts. But the main thing is that we do not lose the client, but establish stable contact with him! Moreover, the process can be automated and combined with promotion on social networks and mailings.

For example, if you have set up automatic adding of the client’s contacts to the database (for example, Access or SQL) and trigger mailings are working, then you can continue to involve the client in your orbit with “touches”, offering him a series of letters, where they are sequentially:

  • get acquainted;
  • invite you to groups on social networks;
  • give away life hacks that are hidden from others;
  • make special offers;
  • invite you to view our general email newsletter.

And so on, and so on, and so on.

In this version, promotion of a Youtube channel is qualitatively no different from promotion on any other social network, working primarily to create a loyal audience and strengthen the brand.

Do you still have questions about promoting videos on Youtube? Tell us how you promote your Youtube channel?

Vladimir Dichev, SEO specialist

I already talked about designing a YouTube channel; in that article we touched on the issue of video format. There were also tips on promotion, which partly depends on the channel. But you won’t be able to get by on design alone; you need to know how to promote videos and channels on YouTube, which is what I’ll talk about in this material.

YouTube ranking factors

I'll start with the basics, that is, how videos are ranked. There are key features that must be taken into account.

Title, description and tags

Everything here is exactly the same as with website promotion on Google. There must be keywords in both the title and description. Keys in the title have much more meaning than the description. However, you should not forget about a detailed description with keywords; do not forget that millions of users search for videos using Yandex and Google search, they do not go to YouTube.

Tags are also taken into account and must be specified. In this case, tags are keywords. I advise you to analyze the top videos in your topic and look at the tags they use.

Views have recently become one of the most important factors, especially for new videos on YouTube. Here we can draw analogies with behavioral factors - YouTube looks at how users relate to new videos. If positive, then this video can be included in the recommended ones, as well as in a high place in the YouTube search results.

And now about 301 views. Many have seen this figure on the view counter. The point here is that when this threshold is reached, the robots check the naturalness of the views; if cheating is not detected, then the counter starts working normally, and the video may already be included in the recommended ones.

Not only the number of views is taken into account, but also their indicators. Audience retention is one of the main metrics on YouTube and is measured by the percentage of viewers who watched a video to the end. A worse % does not necessarily mean that this video will be ranked lower; the duration also affects this. Example:

  • 1 video – 10 minutes, retention 80%;
  • 2 videos – 30 minutes, retention 50%.

In the first case, on average, the video is watched for 8 minutes, and in the second - 15. Obviously, all other things being equal, the second video will be of greater value to YouTube.

Comments and likes

Comments on YouTube can greatly influence rankings; even the presence of keywords in them is taken into account, although the latter is not fundamental. But it is a fact that videos that are actively commented on are more easily included in the top search results and recommended ones.

Likes also affect video rankings, but thinking that only positive likes are a plus is a mistake. Dislikes are also taken into account, this is what the top 2 for the query “USA Obama” looks like:

The first video has a much worse ratio of likes to dislikes, but has a higher number of views. In general, even recommended videos often appear in which there can be 90 percent dislikes. In this case, YouTube evaluates interest in the video, not its quality.

Channel authority

  • Age;
  • Regularity and frequency of publications (the first is more important);
  • Attendance and number of views;
  • Number of subscribers;
  • Channel design and optimization.

Adding to playlists and social networks

When users share your video on social networks and add it to their playlists, this is a great signal for YouTube. If users recommend a video, then the service itself can do this, the logic here is simple. Plus, the more your video gets shared, the better, even if you forget about ranking on YouTube.

Video links

Links to videos carry weight when ranking in search engines; on YouTube itself, there are often videos in the top that do not have any links. In any case, the link is usually an embedded video on another site, which gives additional views, so this factor also affects the ranking on the video hosting site itself.

Promotion methods

When promoting a video on YouTube, the first 24 hours after its appearance are important. If you provide a lot of interest at this time, then the chances that the video will be included in the recommended ones and will be displayed in the top searches will be much higher. For already promoted channels this is not a big problem, where subscribers will provide the necessary dynamics. New channels need to resort to various tricks.

Advertising

  • In the search in the first positions;
  • In the form of banners on other videos;
  • Commercials.

The obvious disadvantage of this method is that it is the most expensive, although of course it cannot be compared with the costs of contextual advertising. In practice, advertising is more often used to promote goods, services, brand advertising; it is used less often to promote channels or videos. But this method is worth considering, as it can speed up the start.

Using your sites

Everything is simple here. Publish your video on all available platforms, this could be your website, a social network page, or an email newsletter. If you have highly trafficked sites, this can provide the required number of views in the first 24 hours, when they are very important.

Increase views, likes and comments

The method is classified as gray, since YouTube can ban or freeze views and likes for it, but the video itself will not be included in the recommended and top search results. However, on a new channel this method can be used, the main thing is to follow the following rules:

  • Cheats should be done with the help of real people who actually watch the video for a fee;
  • There should not be an unnaturally large number of views;
  • There should be no unnatural ratios of views/likes/comments. How to determine the normal ratio? Watch top videos on request.

How YouTube determines the increase in views, likes and comments is not reliably known. But it is obvious that if the channel was recently created, it has 50 subscribers, a new video appears that receives 1000 views in two hours - this is unnatural. If there are 1000 views and 100 comments, this is also a clear sign of cheating.

It is not necessary to use cheating services; you can do it yourself, which, by the way, will be safer. Social networks will help us here. The algorithm will be as follows:

  • On a social network, search for posts or communities using keywords;
  • Leave the video in the comments.

It makes no sense to leave the video anywhere, since in this case you are interested in real views; obviously, thematic content will be very important here. And for YouTube, sharing videos on social networks will only look natural if views have a certain duration.

Duration of views

For YouTube, it is important that users watch a video to the end. Obviously, short videos have a much better chance, so there is no need to make very long videos, it is better to break them into parts. Even if it is very interesting, a decent number of users simply will not watch videos for 40-60 minutes. The optimal length of a video depends on the topic; if a user is looking for a “course of something,” then he obviously does not expect a video that is 2 minutes long.

YouTube publishes statistics, however, there is no data on how long users watch an average video. It is obvious that you need to study each topic separately, the only difficulty is that most channel owners block access to statistics, so you will have to monitor this yourself. For example, if 80 percent of your users close the video after 5 minutes, then in the future you can make not one ten-minute video, but two five-minute ones.

The video lasts 29 seconds, the average duration is 26 seconds, which is a very good indicator, especially for an advertising video. And here are other indicators:

However, for a video 52 minutes long, the average viewing time of about 15 minutes is quite normal. For YouTube, what matters is how much time the user spent on the service, so from this point of view, the second video is better, even if there are far fewer users watching the video to the end.

The viral spread of a video is the best thing that can happen to it. But you need to shoot something completely creative and magnificent so that users immediately begin to actively distribute it. You can send information to the media, they can publish interesting videos, which can give rise to a viral effect.

This method is complex, it is almost impossible to predict “virality” in advance, but if it works, it will be a huge plus for the further promotion of the channel and new videos.

If we draw an analogy with sites where it is difficult to achieve results without internal optimization, then it is difficult to promote bad and boring videos on YouTube. You can select keywords, make great descriptions, start getting views and likes, but if real people are not interested in your video and channel, then you shouldn’t hope for success in the long run. When you see that all your efforts are not bringing the expected results, pay attention to the quality of the video itself.

You can make quite good money on the Internet. In principle, this is exactly what many, many people do. Now the mass business is moving to the Internet, where some entertainment channels and communities on social networks have learned to publish advertisements competently (not intrusive, interesting and with a call to action), many large corporations are hiring freelancers and remote employees, people are accustomed to making purchases on social networks.. And this is not a complete list, confirming that there is money on the Internet. You just need to know how to earn them correctly. It is to earn money through your own labor, and not to hope for easy money without investments.

Monetization of video content

Today, video content is also monetized. Videos have become a trend, and video hosting sites have a very large audience. YouTube, as the largest video hosting site and the second most searched site in the world, keeps up with trends.

You can make money on video for a long time - connect advertising, recommend various products to subscribers, take advantage of the affiliate program. But uninteresting videos of questionable quality will not attract an active and loyal audience. But it is a large number of subscribers, their activity in the form of comments, likes and reposts on social networks that is the core of stable and high earnings on YouTube, as well as promoting your own or corporate brand. This is where YouTube channel promotion comes to the rescue.

Channel topic

If you don’t have anything to promote yet, it doesn’t matter; you can create and design a well-designed channel in just a few hours. First, you should decide on the topic. It can be anything. It’s great if the topic is on the list of relevant ones. And, of course, the topic of the channel should be close and interesting to its creator - otherwise making videos and promoting the YouTube channel will be boring. When choosing a topic, it is important to immediately imagine what audience it will be intended for. Narrowly specialized topics will most likely be of interest to a small number of Internet users, so they will not receive many likes.

Most often on video hosting there are entertainment channels, game reviews, let's plays (filming gameplay), various kinds of educational videos (DIY), videos about construction and repair, including mobile phones, small and large household appliances, computers, etc. Further. Relevant selections of films by topic, games, products, reviews and reviews (so-called unboxings), beauty channels, videos dedicated to the topic of motherhood, culinary channels. Videos describing strategies for making money have been attracting the attention of users for a long time.

It won’t be possible to publish “everything at once” - you need to clearly decide on the topic. Only well-known media figures, who will have subscribers in any case, can afford videos about everything.

Creation and design

To create a channel, you need to have a Google account. The registration process is standard; you will need to enter your desired login (which will also be your email address), gender, date of birth, phone number and a spare email address. On YouTube, you need to go to the “Creative Workshop”, where there will be a “Create Channel” button. The service will ask you to decide on a name and add a picture - the channel logo. The latter can be done later. It is advisable to add a channel icon and cover in the same style - without branding it is difficult to imagine effective promotion of a YouTube channel. On the cover you can include links to profiles on social networks and your own website.

Recording and publishing videos

High-quality and interesting content is the key to promoting your YouTube channel like clockwork. Videos need to be posted regularly, preferably at the same time, for example, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 19:00 Moscow time. This is a convenient time, since many people come home from work, are freed from household chores and sit down at the computer. Therefore, there is a high probability that subscribers will quickly notice and watch the new video. You can publish something every day; regularity here is one of the keys to success.

Content must be copyrighted. You cannot use even small fragments from other videos that do not belong to the creator of the channel. This will result in fines from YouTube and possibly even a complete blocking of the channel. Additionally, the videos should be useful. Promoting the YouTube channel TVgoods is a good example; the team publishes live broadcasts of television programs - although the video is not original, it receives a good response, user activity and many views.

The optimal length of videos is about 3-5 minutes. You can, of course, make videos of 15-20 minutes, but users must watch such content to the end. Otherwise, such a length of the video does not justify itself. With long videos, you can use this trick to get users to finish watching them: promise a competition at the end or come up with something else that will keep their attention.

Principles of successful work

There are three most important principles for successfully promoting a YouTube channel. Firstly, post videos that will be of interest to viewers, do not sell or recommend obviously low-quality products. Secondly, money is not at all the main thing in SEO promotion of a YouTube channel. It all depends on how high-quality content you offer viewers. Thirdly, a good channel with interesting videos advertises itself. Some videos become popular as soon as they appear online. Creating such content is worth striving for.

YouTube Channel Promotion

Promotion is the next step, without which channel monetization will give absolutely no results. There are many promotion options. Among them we can list white, gray and black methods (the last, and ideally the penultimate, should not be used), paid and free, the most and least effective. Although the latter, of course, depends on many factors. For an entertainment channel, for example, promotion through social networks will be quite effective, but for a corporate video blog - less so.

Video SEO optimization

Even if the video itself is of high quality and interesting, but its description and title do not evoke a desire to watch the video, then there can be no question of any effective and fast promotion. SEO concerns the title, description, tags, and correct category indication. Be sure to use high, medium and low frequency keywords. To determine the most suitable ones, use Yandex.Wordstat.

By the way, even the name of the video file that will be uploaded to the hosting must be optimized. A video with a title made up of an incoherent set of Latin letters and numbers will be “trusted” less by YouTube than a video with a clear and understandable title that reflects the content.

Create playlists with similar videos or videos with a common theme. For example, put all reviews of the most powerful phones, all the most productive models or new products into one playlist. This will increase the likelihood that a user interested in one topic will continue watching videos on the same channel and become a subscriber.

Be sure to fill out all the video settings when uploading to the hosting: language, location of filming, ability to embed videos.

An example of good SEO, but not so much for the channel as for the main site, is the promotion of the TvGoo YouTube channel. The service ensures that it increases its citation index by leaving a link to itself under each video with live broadcasts of television programs.

Attracting new subscribers

Attracting the first hundred or thousand subscribers is the main task of the owner of a “young” YouTube channel. There are paid and free methods. Among the free ones: mutual subscription (exchange of subscribers), manual publication of channel advertising on social networks, on forums and in any open sources. There is no need to spam - this is already a black method and will not lead to anything good. Free promotion takes longer, but that’s why it’s free.

Free and paid advertising

It is worthwhile to dwell in more detail on paid and free methods of promotion. In addition to optimization, you can attract subscribers through third-party services. They are free due to the fact that first the channel owner needs to perform certain actions (subscribe to someone else’s channel, watch a video, like, repost to one of the social networks, etc.), and then use the points earned on the internal account to order promotion of his channel . Examples of such services:

  • BigLike.
  • YouTuber.
  • Like4you.
  • Socgain.
  • Pump.

Paid methods are advertising on other people's channels (then they encourage their subscribers to subscribe to your channel or watch a video), promotion services, contextual advertising, publications in popular thematic groups on social networks, and so on.

Paid promotion

Paid advertising can be purchased from Viboom, SeeDr or VideoSeed. It is better to order promotion of a YouTube channel (comprehensive) from an SMM specialist working remotely or on staff (for large companies entering the Internet market).

Paid methods also include "buying" active or passive subscribers. A hundred subscribers can be purchased for only 140 rubles, a thousand for 1190 rubles. There are also sites for promoting a YouTube channel. On many resources you can order views, likes, subscriptions and reposts (QComments, Vlike, VkTarget, SocialTool and so on) or first subscribe to several public pages and communities yourself, and then use the money you earn to promote your channel.

Finally

Creating and promoting a YouTube channel is an interesting and profitable business. You just need to approach things wisely and then everything will work out. For information: promoting a channel using white-hat methods before receiving the first tangible income takes about a year, even if the content is high-quality, interesting and useful.
