Connection tp link. Setting up a wireless connection

Good afternoon.

In today's next article dedicated to setting up home Wi-Fi router, I would like to go with TP-Link (300M Wireless N Router TL-WR841N/TL-WR841ND).

Quite a lot of questions are asked about TP-Link routers, although in general, the setup is not much different from many other routers of this type. And so, let's look at what you need to do step by step so that both the Internet and the local network Wi-Fi.

1. Connecting a router: features

There are several outputs on the back wall of the router; we are most interested in LAN1-LAN4 (they are yellow in the picture below) and INTRNET/WAN (blue).

So, using a cable (see picture below, white) we connect one of the LAN outputs of the router to the computer’s network card. Connect the cable from the Internet provider that enters your apartment from the entrance to the WAN output.

That's all. Yes, by the way, after turning on the device, you should notice the LEDs blinking + a local network should appear on the computer, without access to the Internet for now (we haven’t set it up yet).

Now you need go to settings router. To do this, in any browser, type in the address bar: 192.168.1.1.

Then enter the password and login: admin. In general, in order not to repeat myself, here is a detailed article about that, by the way, all the typical questions are discussed there.

2. Setting up the router

In our example we use the type PPPoE connections. Which type you choose depends on your provider; all information on logins and passwords, connection types, IP, DNS, etc. should be in the contract. We now include this information in the settings.

2.1. Setting up the Internet (PPPoE type)

In the left column, select the Network section, WAN tab. Three points are key here:

1) WAN Connection Type - indicate the type of connection. It will determine what data you will need to enter to connect to the network. In our case, PPPoE/Russia PPPoE.

2) Username, Password - enter your login and password to access the Internet via PPPoE.

3) Set the Connect Automatically mode - this will allow your router to automatically connect to the Internet. There are also manual connection modes (inconvenient).

That’s it, the Internet is configured, click the Save button.

2.2. Setting up a wireless Wi-Fi network

For settings wireless wifi network, go to the Wireless settings section, then open the Wireless Settings tab.

Here you also need to pay attention to three key parameters:

1) SSID - the name of your wireless network. You can enter any name, the one that will be convenient for you to search for later. The default is “tp-link”, you can leave it like that.

2) Region - choose Russia (or your own, if someone is reading the blog not from Russia). Similar setup This is not found in all routers, by the way.

3) Check the boxes at the very bottom of the window, opposite Enable Wireless Router Radio, Enable SSID Broadcast (thereby you enable Wi-Fi work networks).

Save the settings, the Wi-Fi network should start working. By the way, I recommend protecting it with a password. More on this below.

2.3. Enabling a password for a Wi-Fi network

For guard Wi-Fi networks password, go to the Wireless section, Wireless Security tab.

At the very bottom of the page there is an option to select the WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK mode - select it. And then enter the password (PSK Password) that will be used every time you connect to your wireless network.

Then save the settings and reboot the router (you can simply turn off the power for 10-20 seconds).

Important! Some ISPs log the MAC addresses of your network card. Thus, if your MAC address changes, the Internet may become unavailable to you. When you change the network card or when installing a router, this address changes. There are two ways:

first- this (I will not repeat here, everything is described in detail in the article; TP-Link routers have a special section for cloning: Network->Mac Clone);

second- register your new MAC address from the provider (most likely it will be enough phone call in those. support).

That's all. Good luck!

– favorites among devices that provide Wi-Fi. They are given the championship cup for their laconic design and wide range of actions. It won’t be difficult to find a model in the collection that matches its design and characteristics, but to understand the router settings, you’ll have to work a little.

To help beginners, the article offers brief instructions, how to connect a router to a PC and start using the Internet, which is not limited by wires. The guide consists of 5 stages quick activation, upon completion of which you will be able to catch wi-fi anywhere in the apartment.

Determining the IP Address

The first step is to search network settings for authorization. There are only three types of them:

  1. Dynamic (Dynamic IP);
  2. Static (Static IP).
  3. Access via PPPoE protocol.

And now about how to get them. For example, a user with Windows 10, to which the provider’s cable is connected. Internet is active. In this case, to find out the operator’s address, a person needs to go through the following route:

  • At the beginning, click on “Start” - “Settings”;
  • then look for the inscription “ Homepage»;
  • In the suggested options, activate the “Network Control Center”.

Now the “Change adapter parameter” field.

A column with the word “Internet” will appear on the screen. Click on “Properties”, and after that, in the list of “IP version 4 TCP/IPv4”, another click on the field of the same name.

The above maneuvers were carried out in order to find out the type of connection to the operator (see where the default icon is). If it is located in the “Obtain an IP address automatically” area, then synchronization is carried out through Dynamic IP. In this case, you can activate all the settings in an instant, without wasting time and effort. The process is carried out regardless of user actions.
When the “Use the following IP address” field is active in the window and numbers are indicated in the cells, this indicates the use of Static IP. In this case, the received data should be written down on a piece of paper, because they will be useful for subsequent actions with a router like.

Why was all this necessary? WITH this stage upcoming settings WI-FI router TP-Link will depend on the received IP address and will differ in their set of procedures. But more on this later.

Installing and regulating device activity

It's time to connect your purchase to your laptop or use Wi-Fi. In the process you need:

  • provider cable (by this time it should already provide Internet access to the house);
  • patch cord (power cord);
  • actually, a computer;
  • router of the selected model.

At the next stage, these elements must be assembled into a single structure. There are several connectors on the back of the router. Most often there are 4-5 of them, and TP-Link painted these ports in different colors. It is important to remember that the blue Wan connector is used only for the Internet cable (there is only one), and the rest are used for synchronization with a PC.

You may be interested in the following information:

The connection process consists of 4 stages:

  1. We remove the provider patch cord from the laptop.
  2. We move it to the Wan connector.
  3. We fix the selected router to the laptop with a power cord.
  4. We connect the power supply of the device to an outlet.

All that's left to do is to configure the network reception correctly.

On back side router (for example), its basic data and factory settings are indicated. From this information, you need to select the site address and enter it into the search box of your browser. A window immediately opens with fields for login and password, which are written in the documentation or on the same sticker.

After this, the user has access to tools for changing the functionality of the device. It's worth starting with the local network. Select the section " Quick Settings", in which you need to fill in all the fields: come up with a security password, name of the wireless network, determine the number of channels, signal reception time, etc.

Only after completing these steps can you proceed to activating free use of the Internet. To do this, open the “Network” and “WAN” tab. The first thing that appears at the top of the window is the connection type. This is the same IP address that has already been determined using the instructions in the previous section. Depending on it further process has three different options.

It is worth noting that the web interfaces of all TP-Link models are similar to each other (and this is no exception). Understand key points not difficult. Here are the basic information you need to know to fill out each of them:

Connection type

Setup information
Dynamic IP The setup occurs automatically, without any user input.
Static IP In this case you will need:
IP Address;
Subnet Mask;
Default Gateway;
Primary DNS (Preferred DNS server);
Secondary DNS (Alternative DNS server).
PPPoE It is enough to know the username and password.

Dynamic IP – setting up a network automatically

If the operator provides the user with Internet communication services via dynamic address, the entire activation process takes just seconds.

To establish a connection you need:

  • find the Dynamic IP item in the WAN list;
  • save changes;
  • go to System section Tools - Reboot;
  • restart the device.

Now all the settings have taken effect and you can safely use the World Wide Web.

Static IP – we use the provider’s data

If the connection to the operator occurs using a static IP, first select in the WAN line the right option addresses. A window will appear on the screen where you need to enter your provider data. If they are already written out on a piece of paper in advance, then there should be no problems here. The information is registered - click on the “Save” field. Next, similar to the previous option, you need to restart the router.

PPPoE – remember login and password

Having selected this type of connection from the proposed menu, you need to fill in several data:

  1. Subscriber name and password, which is specified in the agreement with the provider.
  2. Operating mode, that is, determine the exact hours or around the clock.

After that, click the “Connect” button. In just a few seconds the device will be ready for use. You can make sure that the router is active at the bottom of the section. There should be the word "Connected".

Router security: quick setup

To avoid giving away free wifi to all neighbors, it is better to immediately put protection on it. The most secure encoding is WPA-PSK/WP2-PSK.

Activating it is very simple:

  • section “Access Control” or “Security Setting”;
  • mark next to the column with the desired name.

A prerequisite for a secure line is the presence of a cipher. You need to invent it, add it to the line and, preferably, remember or write it down. The cipher must contain at least 8 characters. It is better to use Latin letters mixed with numbers. When finished, be sure to restart the router. This way, all changes made will remain in the system.

Internet connection to the device

The final part TP-Link settings The router is turned on on the laptop to receive a signal from the router. On the bar at the bottom of the screen, you need to find and select the network activation icon by clicking the model name from the proposed list. To activate it, you need to enter the password you created earlier. Now left-click on the “Enable” or “Save” button. To test the operation of the device, go online to any of the sites.

After that, you can synchronize any devices that support the Internet with Wi-Fi: set-top box, other gadgets.

How to recover a lost password?

It happens that after some time the password to access the router settings is forgotten. If this happens, it doesn't matter.

There are several solutions to the problem:

  1. You can restore all original settings using the Reset button on the device panel.
  2. Log into the web service from any connected device and see your forgotten password.
  3. Try standard login details admin/admin. Perhaps they haven't changed.

If you choose the first option, you will have to go through all the installation steps again

Brief summary

At the end of the instructions for connecting a TP-Link router, all that remains is to consider a few mistakes that beginners make when connecting a device:

  • not pressed before starting the activation process Wi-Fi button, located at the back of the body;
  • the username matches the name of the router model, which is why it is lost in the list;
  • operator parameters are incorrectly specified;
  • The wrong connector is selected for connecting the patch cord.

Everything is simple, nothing fancy. If you look closely, connecting a TP-Link router will take no more than 5-7 minutes. It is important to take your time and follow the instructions carefully.

All modern wireless routers TP-Link have a single appearance web configuration interface. The only thing that may differ is different versions firmware of the same model is the language: most often English. To get to http://192.168.0.1 tp-link interface in Russian, you must flash it with firmware that supports the Russian language.

To access the router settings, in some cases you may need to configure a static IP to network card computer. You can also use the hostname tplinklogin.net in the browser address bar instead http://192.168.0.1 Login to access the router settings - admin, default password is used admin.

To configure a connection to the provider’s network on the device, you need to go to the section Network -> WAN (Network -> WAN).

How to set up PPPoE for Dom.ru, TTK and Rostelecom

The PPPoE protocol is used by most providers, both in Russia and in Ukraine, Belarus, and Kazakhstan. The most striking examples include Rostelecom, Dom.ru, TTK, Aist, Tattelecom, Bashinformsvyaz (Bashtel).

We choose the WAN connection type PPPoE/PPPoE Russia:

In field Username you need to enter your login to connect to the Internet, and in the fields Password And Confirm password- correspondingly the password for access. This data was given to you by the provider’s employees upon concluding the contract. Be sure to check the box Connect automatically- this is necessary so that your TP-Link router automatically connects to the Internet every time. Save the settings.

How to configure Dynamic IP for TTK Ural, Rostelecom Udmurtia, Chuvashia (Mac Based VLAN)

Configuring a TP-Link router for an IPoE connection via Dynamic IP is as easy as pie, since this is the connection option that is initially configured on the device. That is, just reset the router’s settings with the Reset button and you will receive a router already configured to connect to the provider’s network.

If you configure it through the router's web interface, which for some reason many people call " Personal Area", here you just need to assign the value to the "WAN connection type" parameter Dynamic IP address(Dynamic IP) and press the button Save.

Setting up VPN L2TP for Beeline

The Internet provider Beeline has the most exotic connection type - Dynamic IP+L2TP. When choosing a connection type, you must select the value L2TP/L2TP Russia:

In the Username and Password fields you must enter data for authentication on the Beeline server. As a rule, the login is a personal account, and the password was given to you upon connection. Below we check the Dynamic IP checkbox. In field Server name you need to enter the address: tp.internet.beeline.ru. All that remains is to check the box Connect automatically and save the configuration settings.

Setting up Wi-Fi on TP-Link routers

To set up a Wi-Fi network on TP-Link routers, you must select the item in the menu Wireless mode>>> Wireless Settings:

In the Wireless network name field, you can change the name of the Wi-Fi network of your TP-Link router. If you don’t care what it’s called, you can leave the one that was originally installed.
On the list Region select Russia. The number of the channel used and its width are left unchanged Auto. It is better to leave the operating mode mixed too - 11bgn.
Save the settings and go to the section Wireless Security:

Security protocol type select WPA/WPA2-Personal

How to set up IPTV on TP-Link for Rostelecom, Dom.ru, Beeline

To connect digital television When using an STB set-top box with most providers, you just need to select one of the LAN ports and switch it to bridge mode. This is done in the section Net >>> IPTV:

This option usually works without problems with TV from Beeline, Dom.ru, TTK and most branches of PJSC Rostelecom. If for work interactive television you need to register the VLAN ID, in the "Mode" list you need to select the option 802.1Q Tag Vlan:

VLAN TAG for the Internet should be left set to “Disable”. And enter the VID for IPTV in the appropriate field. If the TP-Link router complains about the need to specify the VID value for the Internet, then you will need to use a trick and enter the value in the “VLAN ID for IP telephony” field. All that remains is to put desired mode work on the LAN port that includes the TV set-top box and click on the “Save” button.

A router is an ideal device for creating Wi-Fi fi networks. But many people have problems setting it up. In this article we will talk about how to set up tp link router.

You brought your router home and have already opened the box. Great. There should be several pieces of paper in front of you, a disk with software, network cable and the router itself. Let's start setting up:

  • Setting up a tp link router starts with connecting the device. It is advisable to place it close to the computer, because The manufacturer provides a cable included small size. We connect the router to the power supply and plug it into an outlet.
  • Connect the router to the network. To do this, we are looking for a blue socket, under which there is the inscription “Wlan”. We plug the wire included in the kit into it.
  • We connect to the computer. We use another wire, plugging it into one of the yellow connectors on the router. The other part of the wire needs to be connected to the port on your PC, which is located on its back side.

WAN and LAN ports. WAN - Internet input. LAN - local network (connecting local devices)

Let's look at the buttons and connectors that can be found on your router:

  • Button to start and shut down the device.
  • Connector for power supply.
  • WAN. The blue port to which the network cable is connected.
  • LAN The yellow port is needed to connect to a computer.
  • Button to launch the QSS function. Used to connect your phone, tablet, TV or laptop to Wi-Fi.
  • Reset. Designed to completely return the device to factory settings.

Almost all ports and buttons on the router are labeled, which makes them easy to find.

We figured out the router itself and connected it.

Take a thin needle, carefully insert it into Reset and hold for 10 seconds.

Setting up the router

So, you have connected the device to your PC. Now let's go to tp link router settings. For this:

  • We launch absolutely any browser. Are looking for address bar and enter a special IP address into it. You can find it on the back of your device.
  • After the previous paragraph, you are asked to enter your username and password. To find them, just like in that case, turn your router over. If you are too lazy to search, then enter the standard ones - admin/admin.

Let's update the firmware before moving on. Go to the website “tp-linkru.com”. This is the official website of the manufacturer of your equipment. Find your device model there and download latest version firmware. Unzip it. Return to your router's web interface. We look for the “System tools” menu item and go to equipment upgrade. There, using “browse” we point to installed file.

Let's go back to the settings:

  • Necessary install login and password for wai fi network. To do this, find the “system tools” item in the web interface. In the drop-down menu, click on “Password”. In the window that appears, you must fill in all fields. In the old lines, enter admin/admin. Fill out the rest as you wish. Save.
  • We return to the left side of the web interface. Click on “Network” and then on “Wan”. Next you need to set the network type. It all depends on your provider, so it’s better to check this point with them. After setting, don't forget to save.
  • Now in “Network” select the “MAC clone” item. All you have to do is click on bottom button, which clones the top address. Save.
  • We are looking for the “Wireless” item. Open "Setting". Next, enter ssid in the required line. If desired, indicate your region.
  • Let's go to wireless security. Enter the password in the password field. Be sure to remember it in order to use the wifi network.

Great. You are completely done with the setup. If you wish, you can reboot your router.

Various problems with the router

Now let's talk about some possible errors during and after setup.

If you have forgotten your password, you need to return your router to factory settings. This is done using a thin needle and the “Reset” button. Press and wait for about 10 seconds. After this procedure set up equipment again.

In cases where it is not possible to log into the web interface of the TP router link, you need to try returning the device to factory settings. You can also use another browser for this.

If your device does not see wai WiFi network, then try bringing it closer to the router. If this does not help, then go to the web interface and enable visibility for all devices.

There are also times when problems are caused by a device failure. In controversial cases, you can contact a professional who will help you resolve this issue.

Let's sum it up

Tune wifi router not difficult at all. Many people are intimidated by the English interface, but if you follow the instructions given, you will succeed.

Lastly Wi-Fi time has become an integral part of the user’s life and is gaining momentum at an ever faster pace, since it is very convenient thing. Wi-Fi made it possible to use one Internet connection for several devices such as a laptop, tablet or smartphone, and also eliminated unnecessary wires in the apartment.

This article will talk about how to set up Wi-Fi at home. Namely, we will analyze how to connect and configure the router or how it is called R12 correctly; router.

What is a router for?

Many users are mistaken and initially think that the router itself is the Internet and that when you buy it, your home will immediately appear. demon wired Internet. But this is not true at all. If in simple words, then the Router is actually a “tee”, then the father-in-law divides one connection into several, this is its fundamental function. That is, you should at least have wired Internet in your apartment. It connects to the router, and it, in turn, distributes it to other devices according to its means wireless communication Wi-Fi.

So let's assume that you bought a router. Now you need to connect it to your computer. I'll look into example TP-LINK, although they all connect in the same way. All routers have LAN sockets on the back. This is where all the wires need to be connected.

As a rule, the wire through which the Internet comes is connected to a separate socket. It is always highlighted in a separate color. It can be blue, gray, white or yellow depending on the manufacturer, but it is always a different color from other sockets. The remaining sockets are intended for connecting other devices via wire that do not have Wi-Fi.

In our case, we connect the Internet wire to the blue connector and plug the separate wire included with the router into a laptop or computer and insert its other end into the yellow socket, preferably number 1.

So the router is connected, now let's start setting it up.

WiFi setup

Almost all routers in included installation disk. We will use it to make the settings. So, insert the disk into the drive and wait for the installation wizard to start. If the master Wi-Fi settings does not start, then open “My Computer” on the desktop, find the DVD-ROM and launch it manually by double-clicking the left mouse button.

So the wizard has started. Select the model of our router (you can see it on the box or on the bottom wall of the device) and run the “Quick Installation Assistant”

In this window we check the indicator readings. It is necessary that the indicator signals correspond to the actual readings of the router. If everything matches, then we continue setting up further.

After this, a message indicating successful verification will appear. Click the “Next” button

Here we select the router connection type. We choose the most common option R12; Dynamic IP, it suits any connection.

Here we select the second item. Nowadays, connection via MAC address. This can be checked at home. But for this you need to have at least two devices, for example two laptops (in extreme cases, you can ask your friends). We simply connect another laptop directly to the Internet. If the Internet is working, then your connection is not to the MAC address and accordingly we need to select the second item.

In this window we need to come up with a name for our network. Enter on English language. This name will be displayed in the search results wireless networks on a laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Here we select the level Wi-Fi protection. Select WPA2-PSK R12; this is the most reliable protection. After that, set a password. The password must be entered in English, you can also add numbers. I advise you to make the password length at least 10 characters. This password is needed for wireless connection Your devices. That is, until you enter the password on the device, you will not be able to connect to the network, so no one will be able to connect to your Internet without knowing the password. This way we will protect ourselves from your neighbors using your Wi-Fi.

In this window we confirm the settings. Check the “Save settings in a text file” checkbox. Thus, on the desktop it will be created text file with the settings of your Wi-Fi, namely there will be the name of the network and the password for it so that you do not forget it.
