The mail server will be stolen. Mail program settings for using an IMAP server

Configuring Microsoft Outlook Express (using Outlook Express 6 as an example) to work with the @UKR.NET mailbox

If you have already configured your email program to work with the UKR.NET mailbox, then you do not need to create a new account. You only need to change the settings of the incoming (POP3) and outgoing mail (SMTP) servers.

1. Create an account

Open Outlook Express. From the Tools menu, select Accounts. In the dialog box that appears, click "Add" and select "Mail" from the list. Enter your name:

Enter your full email address, from @ukr.net. Please enter your address carefully; there should be no capital letters.

Indicate your account in the "Account" field mailing address, in full, from @ukr.net. Please enter your address carefully; there should be no capital letters.

2. Setting up sending mail over a secure SSL connection

Select "User Authentication" (check the box), and click "Settings"

Attention! Instead of [email protected], you must use your email address in the UKR.NET service. For example, if your address is [email protected], then you need to enter it here.

Attention! Microsoft Outlook by default deletes mail from the server after downloading to Personal Computer. Having entered postal service, you will find an empty box. In order not to delete messages from the server, but simply download them to your computer, you need to check the “Leave copies of messages on the server” checkbox on the page below.

3. How to check: has everything been done correctly?

IN Outlook program Express, open the "Tools" menu, then "Accounts" and then click on the buttons and links following the arrows.

Step 1

Step 2

Step 3

Today I want to configure my email client to Samsung smartphone. And I want to configure it for postal service freemail.ukr.net. I'll start in the most usual way - I'll just go to the help of this service. On wiki.ukr.net you can see the settings we need. They look like this:

1) Before accepting letters from the mailbox with your mail program, enable access to the mailbox for mail programs. This means that you need to go to the settings via the web interface - POP3 and SMTP settings, and check the box next to "enable POP3 and SMTP".

2) Necessary settings:

incoming message server (POP3): pop3.ukr.net

normal connection (unprotected)

outgoing message server (SMTP): smtp.ukr.net

connection type - secure SSL or TSL.

Are you impressed? Incomprehensible SMTP ports And so on. These are the ports where mail server waiting for connection. One port for incoming messages (those messages that you receive from recipients) and one for outgoing (those messages that you send to recipients). SSL and TSL are cryptographic protocols for encrypting connections. If similar structure difficult to understand, just imagine a mailbox with two boxes in it. You pick up letters from one and put them in the other. And two postmen arrive. Should they know which box to put in and which to take out? So imagine that the number 110 is drawn on one box, and 465 on the other. In general, I won’t go too deep into the theory. Let's move on to the settings. Click on the familiar envelope icon on your smartphone. The application will open. We enter the settings and go to the account settings. go to the "options" tab.

In the parameters, enter the account name (any name is possible), the name, for example, the postal address elka(at)ukr.net, which means the name is elka. Then, sequentially enter the server parameters (the “incoming mail” and “outgoing mail” tabs).

In the tabs we do it as in the pictures. Enter the full address in the "username" field mailbox, in the password field, enter the password for the mailbox. The SMTP server must be set to SSL security type. Other settings concern appearance and signals. You can change them as you like. You can connect and use mail. Advice. Set the "Delete email from server" option to "never".

I'll add pictures with the settings mail client for smartphone with Android 6.

Before accepting letters from a mailbox with your mail program, enable mailbox access for mail programs. How to do this is described at this link .
