Tablet tab 6 difference. Samsung tablets

This tablet I, so to speak, have been “exploiting” it for a month now and now I will try to describe all my impressions of using it. The thing is that closer to summer I had a need to find a worthy replacement for my budget 7-inch old LG G Pad 7.0 v400. I tried to look for more or less tablets in the mid-price segment (i.e., not budget ones) with big screen and better performance and smoother operation. Basically, I was thinking in the direction of tablets from Samsung (since I’ve been dealing with the 2013 flagship Galaxy S4 for more than two years and, in principle, I’m happy with everything, and, moreover, I know that with the latest tablets Samsung users also don’t have any particularly critical complaints), and, moreover, among other manufacturers I couldn’t find anything worthwhile for myself. There was a variant from the series released in 2015, namely the Tab A (8.0 or 9.7 inches). Everything is good, but their screen resolution is “very not very good” (especially on 9.7 inches - 1024x768, you see, it’s not enough). And then, quite by accident, I saw a brand new tablet from 2016 Samsung Galaxy Tab A(6) 10.1"", looked at its characteristics, the first reviews of it and reviews about it, and, in principle, I really liked everything. I couldn’t “use” it in the store, since it was on order, so I took a chance and ordered it for myself (in blue). Arrived quite quickly, in 9 days, thanks for this M-Video. And I want to say that this tablet more than met all my expectations. The first tactile contact with this tablet was very pleasant, although the body is completely plastic, it is made very well. The screen quality, traditionally for Samsung, is excellent, especially the Full HD resolution (1920x1080), which is very good. I was also pleased with Android 6.0 on board and the TouchWiz interface on top of it - the smoothness of operation is simply excellent, during the entire time of use I did not notice a single slightest stutter (by the way, I still don’t understand those people who “hate” Samsung for its “lagging interface” - understand , TouchWiz has long changed for the better, it no longer has +100500 unnecessary programs and minute-long sticking when entering the “application menu” - although I also greatly exaggerated this about the “old” touchwiz). Moreover, I am very pleased with the already built-in set of office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and a gift from Samsung in the form of 100GB for 2 years in OneDrive. There are no complaints about the sound either - two high-quality speakers at the end of the tablet, producing a fairly loud and clear sound. The overall performance did not let us down - smooth operation in everyday applications and in not particularly resource-intensive games is ensured by 100%; I have not particularly tried heavier games. The camera is simply superb, 8MP + autofocus, and even a flash - photos and videos turn out simply excellent (by the standards of tablets, which have not been customary to install super cool cameras on for a long time)! The battery is 7+ thousand mAh, with my average use it lasts for 3-5 days, which is not bad at all. As an addition, we can’t help but rejoice at the slot for nano-SIM (support for calls via speakerphone or through headphones and mobile internet) and a separate slot for micro-SD. As for the minuses, I can note the inconvenience of standard navigation keys from Samsung (mechanical “Home” and two touch “Back” and “Application Manager”) - firstly, since I often use the tablet in landscape orientation, the location of these keys in portrait orientation is not always convenient (however, this is not critical), and, secondly, touch keys, unfortunately, do not have backlighting. Also, the prices for official accessories, namely the case from Samsung, are not encouraging). I ordered an unofficial case on Aliexpress at a cheaper price, it came with a film and a stylus as a gift (thanks to the Chinese for that). Look like that's it! Overall, the tablet is truly a powerful workhorse, which is also perfectly suitable for entertainment - watching movies, surfing the web and playing games!

Positioning

Ruler TAB tablets A means affordable models, that is, devices that attract with their price/quality ratio. Considering that the tablet market has been declining for three years now, large manufacturers are not trying to release many models, but Samsung continues to saturate the market with its solutions with different diagonals and decided to update the 10-inch models, which are a completely endangered type of tablet. The update compared to the previous TAB A 9.7 inches looks interesting, they have improved the memory capacity, installed a faster processor, a larger battery, and improved the case. In a word, the evolutionary new tablets are better, this is the development of the line. In his price segment from 20 to 25 thousand rubles, oddly enough they have no direct competitors, only old models from other manufacturers that run on Android 5.1. To some this may seem like an insignificant difference, but if the price is comparable there is a choice and you can get the latest version of the OS, then why not. These tablets turned out to be interesting workhorses, with a maximum life cycle. They can be purchased for 4-6 years to use at home or at work.

Design, dimensions, control elements

The tablet has three color options - white, black and blue. In all cases, the plastic is matte, there are no hand marks or scratches on it. Compared to the younger TAB A 7-inch model, the quality of the case and plastic here is clearly higher, the model is in a different price segment.

The transition, or more accurately the return, to a 16:10 widescreen screen is welcome; this is a convenient option for a home or work tablet or watching videos. Typically, 3G/4G models of Samsung tablets retain speaker, but the SM-T585 doesn’t have it, so for a conversation you’ll have to use the regular speakers on the bottom, then you’ll have to hold the tablet upside down, which is inconvenient. The microphone is located exactly opposite, so this was done deliberately; after all, this is a tablet, not a phone.

Tablet size 254.2 x 155.3 x 8.2 mm, weight 525 grams. The dimensions are typical for such models, there are no achievements or shortcomings, a good form factor, comfortable in the hands. Moreover, the tablet was adapted at the software level to work in both horizontal and vertical orientation, you can choose what is interesting to you.

On the right side there is a slot for memory cards; it is covered with a plug attached to the case. Nearby is a slot for a nanoSIM card. Here you also see a paired volume key, as well as an on/off button. The 3.5 mm connector, as well as microUSB, is located at the top end.

The tablet has a physical key under the screen and two touch keys on the sides. I don’t like that the touch keys are located close to the central one; you expect them to be closer to the sides and often miss when you press without concentrating on it.

There are no complaints about the build quality of the device, it is excellent, the tablet will have maximum life cycle, you will replace it in 4-5 years, unless you break it first.

Display

The display characteristics are as follows - 10.1 inches, TFT IPS, 1920x1200 pixels (224 ppi), 16:10, light sensor. The screen is very good in its class, it is quite bright and comfortable both indoors and outdoors. After using the tablet for a month, there were no complaints about its performance; the display adapts to different lighting conditions.

Chipset, memory, performance

Samsung Exynos 7870 chipset, 8 Cortex A53 cores up to 1.6 GHz, Mali-T830MP2 graphics coprocessor. This is a very good solution, especially since it is made according to the 14 nm technology standard, which gives an increase in operating time. In terms of performance, the tablet seemed like a golden mean to me, on the one hand there is a reserve for the future, this is not budget solution, on the other hand, it lasts longer than all its competitors on a single charge. This tablet reminded me of something samsung smartphone J7 (2016), which also liked the long work.

RAM 2 GB. Built-in memory 16 GB, 10.5 GB available to the user. Look at the results of synthetic tests.

You can install memory cards up to 200 GB, which is not bad.

Battery

The tablet has a Li-Ion battery with a capacity of 7300 mAh. For it, the video playback time is stated to be up to 13 hours (in reality 9 hours at maximum brightness).

Full battery charging time is about 3.5 hours. My tablet worked much longer than all its analogues, an increase of at least one and a half times. The battery is the most strong point this decision. I'd like to see it here fast charging, but this is already from the realm of dreams.

In the settings you can find an energy saving mode, including an extreme one, but these modes do not significantly increase the operating time, but the speed of the device drops noticeably.

Camera

The main camera is 8-megapixel, the image quality is typical for tablets, it is average. For some reason they added a flash to the camera. The camera cannot be considered something serious, however, take a look for yourself.

Communication capabilities

The tablet has support for USB on the GO, and USB version 2.0. BT version 4.2. For the version with SIM card, 4G is supported, no problems with working on Russian networks No. I note that the tablet supports ANT+, which is unusual for such solutions.

Software features

Stands inside regular Android 6, TouchWiz shell. This is a typical representative of tablets from Samsung, there is a division of the screen into areas, work in several windows.

The proprietary Children's mode is available on all Samsung tablets, and it is also available here. In this mode, you can configure the tablet so that children only have access to limited number functions and applications, you can also set a schedule. Very good program, which turns Samsung tablets into children's devices if necessary. Similar software is usually worse and not free.

Likewise modern models Smart Manager has appeared, in which you can see what is occupied by the memory, clear it, and install an antivirus if necessary.

In the "Gifts" section you can find free apps and subscription to different services. The gifts themselves are few and far between.

The 4G version of the tablet will also have a dialer plus an SMS application. This tablet can act as big phone, you can talk on it even without a headset.

Stick to typical ones Android features I don’t see any point, they are described in a separate material.

Impression

As I said at the very beginning review Tab The A 10.1 (6) is a workhorse, it has a good screen, a fairly powerful chipset for the price, the latest version of Android and a good battery. You can criticize that the sound from the speakers is not very clear, the buttons are located inconveniently for games, but these are minor things. The tablet turned out to be successful and has a favorable price/quality ratio in its segment. For the WiFi version in branded retail they ask for 21,990 rubles, for LTE 24,990 rubles. In federal retail, taking into account discounts, you can find these tablets 1-2 thousand rubles cheaper.

These tablets have practically no direct competitors; you can remember the one that was leaving the market Lenovo Tab 2 A10, but he has old version Android, and it is much simpler, the performance is lower. This is a vanishing nature; there is no particular point in buying it. But it costs 18 thousand rubles.

You can look at the Lenova Yoga Tablet 3, also an old version of Android, but other characteristics are close to the Tab A. Moreover, the LTE version costs 20,000 rubles in Svyaznoy.

There is also such a model as Huawei Mediapad T2 10.0 with LTE is also a thing of the past. By and large, there is no choice among new tablets; Samsung devices find themselves in a kind of vacuum. Its predecessor, the Tab A 9.7, costs noticeably less, the difference is 2-3 thousand rubles, but it is noticeably worse. Therefore, it is worth focusing on new devices.

In 2015, Samsung's tablet line underwent a major overhaul. The company has noticeably narrowed the number of models presented, although it will completely refuse products of this type did not, despite a noticeable decline in sales. It’s understandable - why do this if the Koreans occupy one of the leading positions there, and at the same time are practically the only manufacturer of flagship tablets that can make a serious Apple competition iPad.

As a result, three lines were launched on the market: new and, as well as the development of the top series. It turned out to be the cheapest Galaxy Tab E with a single 9.6-inch tablet. Galaxy Tab A received noticeably stronger hardware, but their design was subjectively worse, and at the same time the screen geometry changed - there was a transition to a “square” 4:3 ratio. Moreover, Samsung saved on resolution, offering a measly 1024x768 pixels. The Galaxy Tab S2 was also “squared”, but the displays there turned out to be the best possible - Super AMOLED they are. Moreover, the devices have become the thinnest tablets in the world.

And now it’s 2016, which Samsung is starting with another “confusion.” The continuity of the lines is again being broken, and it is completely unclear why. In March, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) tablet was introduced, which, as the name implies, acquired a 7-inch screen. The company ignored this diagonal in 2015 and now has decided to return. And everything would be fine, but in many respects this is a budget model. Moreover, initially it was marketed as the Galaxy Tab E 7.0, but after that it was classified as the A series. In general, let’s figure out what’s what and whether the new device deserves anyone’s attention in principle.

Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) video review

Before getting acquainted with the Samsung tablet in all its details, we suggest watching its video review:

Design

I must say that from a design point of view, Samsung tablets somehow don’t stand out much. However, if you think about it, what is there to “stand out” at all? The ratio of the screen area to the area of the rest of the body is noticeably higher than that of smartphones, so there is nothing special to “show off design refinements”.

And if you also remember that the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is one of the cheapest Samsung tablets, then it immediately becomes clear that this device is “not about design.” Indeed, one glance is enough to understand that the company clearly did not put much effort into its design.

However, this does not mean that the tablet is scary or anything like that - it is simply no different from its predecessors. Before us is the most ordinary “Samsung”, which we have seen more than once. Is it possible latest fashion it has slightly narrower frames on the sides of the screen, and it itself is made in the format of a super-large smartphone, which is completely pointless if you have a Wi-Fi version.

There is nothing remarkable at the back either: there are technical inscriptions, a camera and a solid black cover. To prevent it from slipping out, the lid is covered with a relief texture with pressed-in pits. There's nothing unusual about the touch, but the tablet doesn't really slip out.

At the same time, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 is perfectly assembled and it is clear that high-quality plastic is used. In this regard, there are no complaints about the device.

In terms of dimensions, the Samsung tablet is generally compact, but it depends on what you compare it with. If with the flagship Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, then the hero of our review noticeably loses, and if you look at the numerous cheap crafts of little-known Chinese companies, then Tab A 7.0 looks noticeably better. In general, it has a thickness of 8.7 mm and a weight of 283 grams, which is the maximum average for such a tablet.

In total, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) can offer a long-familiar design, good assembly, and relatively small thickness and weight. Not bad for an inexpensive solution.

Connectors and controls

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) does not have any special features in terms of ergonomics; everything here is as always.

Above the screen is only Samsung inscription and a front camera lens. The SM-T285 model, the one with the communication module, also has a speaker.

Well-known buttons were placed under the screen: touch-sensitive application list and Back, as well as a mechanical Home button. The latter does not have a built-in fingerprint scanner, and the first two do not have a backlight - let us remind you that the tablet is a budget one.

At the back in the upper part there is a rear camera lens, which is not complemented by a flash. A tablet doesn’t really need it, much less an inexpensive tablet. To the left of the lens is an external speaker, only one.

On the left side there is a slot for a microSD card.

It is covered with a traditional Samsung flip-up flap. To install a memory card, you need to push it in until you hear a characteristic click. If you have problems with this, then a short video instruction will help you solve them:

There are several more buttons on the right: two for adjusting the volume and one for turning the device on/off.

All connectors are on top: 3.5 mm mini-jack for headphones and headsets, as well as microUSB. We will not lament the latter - if we had a smartphone in front of us, such an arrangement would affect ease of use, whereas in the case of a tablet this does not matter at all.

At the bottom end there was a small hole for the speaking microphone.

We have nothing more to say about the ergonomics of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016). Everything here is within normal limits, using the tablet is convenient.

Case for Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

Buying a case or cover for the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is difficult on the one hand, but simple on the other. It’s difficult because at the start there are almost no of them on sale, but with “simplicity” everything is also obvious - cases from other 7-inch Samsung tablets may be suitable for this tablet.

This leather bag case will cost about 1,600 rubles. Not very cheap, but it looks good and is a universal option.

They also produce interesting cases-stands, or covers. Something costs about 1600 rubles.

With such a leather cover, the tablet begins to resemble huge smartphone. And it costs quite a bit – 3,000 rubles.

Screen

In 2015 Galaxy tablets Tab A was distinguished by one not very pleasant circumstance - both models, 8.0- and 9.7-inch, received a low-resolution screen of 1024x768 pixels. As a result, the quality of the display was not bad, but the picture was grainy and not at all as sharp as most similarly priced devices.

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is somewhat different in this regard. First of all, the company returned to its more familiar 16:10 aspect ratio, rather than using the “square” 4:3 option. We don’t see anything wrong with either – except that the wider format option is better suited for watching movies. As for the resolution, here we have 1280x800 pixels, which with a 7" diagonal gives a pixel density of 216 ppi. It’s far from the record, but for an inexpensive tablet it’s quite a passable option.

However, the display here is definitely not as good as that of older models. Although you can’t call it bad - Samsung decided to install an inexpensive IPS matrix, which resulted in a more or less decent picture, but the colors on the display look somewhat whitish. The viewing angles are normal – we did not experience any discomfort in their part. In addition, the screen has a good reserve of brightness, which, however, did not save it in the sun - the picture is difficult to see on a fine day.

Objective measurements generally confirm our observations of the Galaxy Tab A 7.0. So the tablet screen turned out to be very high brightness 487.26 cd/m2, which is an above average result. True, the black color is more reminiscent of dark gray - this is not surprising given its brightness of 0.57 cd/m2. If it had been one and a half times smaller, it would have turned out very cool, but no, no miracle happened. The final contrast was “four”, namely 855:1.

The color gamut of the display is entirely within the sRGB color space and in some places noticeably falls short of its boundaries. In other words, not all possible colors are displayed by it, hence, obviously, the same “whiteness”.

Color temperature looks good. Its excess is relative optimal value 6500K is not great – about 800-900K. In other words, the image's white balance is off, towards cooler tones, but compared to most devices, the excess is insignificant.

Another reason for the whiteness of the picture is the gamma curve, which runs noticeably higher than the reference curve 2.2. This means that everything on the screen appears brighter than necessary.

I can’t imagine how it happened that the display of a generally inexpensive tablet recognizes “ full set» fingers. Usually you won’t see more than five simultaneous touches here.

The screen settings also contain amazing items. On the one hand, automatic brightness adjustment is not available to him, but on the other hand, he has the ability to choose color profile, just like on Samsung devices with AMOLED matrices. However, we did not see any difference from changing the profile - perhaps this is a feature of the non-final firmware, where due to an oversight this section was not removed.

In principle, we were satisfied with the screen of the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016). There are not enough stars from the sky, and even without automatic brightness adjustment, but for your money it is quite an acceptable option.

Camera

Samsung believes that the camera in the tablet is purely nominal. And really, why does this “bandura” cool camera, if you always have a smartphone at hand? In short, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 offers simple cameras of 5 and 2 MP.

The control application is typical when it comes to Samsung devices. Here you can select various effects and modes.

They even left the Pro mode, where you can adjust white balance, ISO sensitivity and exposure compensation.

And the camera has few settings. Let me remind you, she doesn’t even have a flash.

The maximum resolution is achieved at an aspect ratio of 4:3, which is common.

You know, it didn't turn out as bad as we expected. In the photo we see the correct white balance, good color rendition, and the sharpness is more or less decent. Even with room lighting, all the pictures turn out quite well.

Video is limited to a resolution of 1280x720 pixels - also typical for Samsung tablets.

In principle, the video looks decent, although it could use a little sharpening. Well, the resolution is not very high, yes.

The facial sensor also takes pictures with an aspect ratio of 4:3, and there are simply no other options.

Photos from the front camera turn out worse, although one would not expect anything else. But on the larger side, the white balance is maintained and even the frames have some kind of sharpness.

Video from the front is limited to a very modest resolution of 640x480 pixels, also known as VGA.

Although the quality itself is quite high, with nice flowers, without jerking and the traditional front camera flare.

The cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) are not bad, but with many caveats: they have low resolution and no flash. However, they are capable of quickly taking a photo. And from it you will most likely learn at least something later.

Specifications Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) tablet was the first representative of the A line, released in 2016. We must assume that it will be followed by updates to the 8.0- and 9.7-inch models, which, it is possible, may receive a different screen ratio, and along the way, other diagonals. Meanwhile, the new product is designated SM-T280 for the Wi-Fi version and SM-T285 for the version with a 4G module.

We decided to compare the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 with the Galaxy Tab E 9.6, released in 2015, because they are very similar in many respects. Let's say more - Samsung initially intended to call the tablet in question Galaxy Tab E 7.0, but then for some reason it moved it to the more advanced A series, while maintaining the characteristics.

Our copy of the tablet received a Spreadtrum SC8830 processor with four Cortex-A7 cores operating at a frequency of 1.3 GHz. This is not the first time we have seen this chipset in Samsung products, and in principle there is nothing bad to say about it - this is a typical budget chip, not the fastest, but without serious flaws.

It should be noted that some sources report the use of Qualcomm Snapdragon 410, which has four 64-bit Cortex-A53 cores operating at the same frequency of 1.3 GHz. Undoubtedly, this processor is much better, but we believe that it is equipped with the 4G version of the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 labeled SM-T285, or, alternatively, such a tablet is supplied to select markets.

As for the video card, the Spreadtrum SC8830 is also not able to offer anything interesting. you get old graphics core Mali-400 MP2 with a pair of execution conveyors. In addition to its general slowness, it also does not support modern APIs OpenGL ES 3.0 and especially 3.1 - only version 2.0. Let us remember that Adreno 306 from the Snapdragon 410 does not have this drawback, and in principle it is faster.

Partially Galaxy memory Tab A 7.0 (2016) is again closer to “Eshka” than “Ashka” - it has 1.5 GB of RAM and 8 GB of flash memory. Other Galaxy Tab A have a minimum of 16 GB of flash and 2 GB of RAM. From the point of view of a budget product, the proposed option is quite in trend, but it falls a little short of the average level at which the A series is positioned.

Our Galaxy Tab A 7.0 lacked a communication module mobile networks, and therefore “wireless” is represented only by Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 standards. This should be enough for most people.

Overall characteristics budget tablet Samsung are not bad for their level. In theory, nothing will slow down, although flash memory is still not enough - you will have to use a separate one microSD card.

Performance testing

There is no point in comparing the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) with other members of the A family - despite the difference of a year, they will still be faster. But look at how the speed of almost identical processors differs (the Galaxy Tab E has the same speed as our tablet) in different Android versions(4.4 versus 5.1 for a 7-inch tablet) will be interesting.

The old Smartbench 2012 test showed mixed results. A system-wide run showed the superiority of the Galaxy Tab E, but the graphics component remained with the device in question by a small margin.

But other benchmarks clearly gave victory to the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016), especially the modern Antutu.

And for some reason JavaScript in the browser worked better on old Galaxy Tab E - really? new Chrome less optimized?

The old 3D toy electopia showed that the graphics card performs better in the Tab E. But what about the more complex 3D tests?

Obviously, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 will handle more modern games better. However, its superiority is not devastating, and in general the speed of the video card is still low.

The Galaxy Tab E has the best battery life, according to the Galaxy Tab A 7.0. It is noticeably worse. We believe that the issue here is not the 4000 mAh battery, but the dampness of the firmware of our test unit. We believe that the retail version would have shown noticeably better results - this should be taken into account when making a purchasing decision.

As always, the maximum energy consumption occurred in 3D games. All other tasks consume approximately the same amount of energy - the screen is always very power-hungry.

In terms of energy efficiency, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is a typical Samsung device. It is well optimized, and in the settings there are additional options, including the mode extreme energy saving. The latter, however, looks a little comical - without an AMOLED screen it is of little use.

The performance of the 7-inch Samsung tablet deserves the epithet “normal”. For your level, of course. There’s nothing outstanding here, but we didn’t notice any problems either – the interface doesn’t slow down, applications start more or less quickly. What about the games?

Games on Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016)

Gaming is one of the specializations of tablets, and therefore it is important that they work well. But with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0, the main problem lies in the small amount of built-in memory - only 2-3 serious games will fit there.

  • Riptide GP2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 7: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Asphalt 8: Some delays are visible;

  • Modern Combat 5: Blackout: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • N.O.V.A. 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Trigger 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Real Racing 3: noticeable delays are visible;

  • Need For Speed:No Limits: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Shadowgun: Dead Zone: excellent, the game does not slow down;
  • Frontline Commando: Normandy: did not start;
  • Frontline Commando 2: did not start;
  • Eternity Warriors 2: did not start;
  • Eternity Warriors 3: not in Play Store;

  • Eternity Warriors 4: Some delays are visible;

  • Trial Xtreme 3: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Trial Xtreme 4: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Effect: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Dead Effect 2: excellent, the game does not slow down;

  • Plants vs Zombies 2: Some delays are visible;

  • Iron Man 3: Some delays are visible;
  • Dead Target: did not start.

As you can see, the games work well with larger ones. Some things didn’t start, but we again chalk this up to crude firmware – there shouldn’t be such problems on a store-bought Samsung tablet.

BY

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) comes with Android 5.1. For the first half of 2016 this is not the best modern solution, and after Android release 6.0 has passed quite some time, but you shouldn’t expect Samsung devices with the “six” before the middle of the year. We are talking about cheaper products than the Galaxy S7.

And so, as always, the TouchWIZ shell is installed on top of the system.

It is adapted to any screen orientation, landscape or portrait, although the main one for the tablet is portrait.

Some things have been changed in the system compared to “bare” Android, but if you have previously dealt with Samsung devices, then there will be no problems with the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 - everything here is familiar.

And the task manager does not differ at all from the standard one - they just added a “Close all” button.

There are not very many programs on the tablet, although they are probably not a complete set here, since we were dealing with a non-sales version of the device.

However, the already well-known Smart app Manager on site. Let us remind you that here you can figure out how memory and battery power are consumed and protect your tablet.

There is also a “Children's mode” - this special application, which is a shell and several applications for children. True, you will have to download and install it - only a link is displayed in the general list.

Conclusion

Samsung Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is a typical tablet with “moderate” characteristics and a wonderful short name. We believe that the manufacturer will emphasize its relatively affordable price, coupled with an average quality screen, sufficient performance, and high-quality software. Android 5.1 will no longer be released as a feature - this should have been done in mid-2015.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) performed quite well. Its processor is not very modern, but its speed is sufficient for smooth animation interface and even for most games. The tablet’s cameras are rated as “okay” - this is clearly not its strong point, but the rear one is capable of producing more or less decent pictures. Although it would seem that the 7-inch model will be worn more often than some 9.6-inch model.

We did not notice any significant disadvantages of the device. Frustrating absence automatic adjustment screen brightness, but this is not fatal. The ergonomics of the tablet are good, it is not heavy, has a capacious battery, well-thought-out software, which even includes a children's mode. The main thing is that the price is adequate.

Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) price

Buy Galaxy Tab A 7.0 (2016) is set at 12 thousand rubles. Galaxy Tab E 9.6 sells for 16 thousand rubles, but this tablet is larger and comes with a 3G module.

is not quite a tablet, but rather a super-huge phablet with a 6.98-inch screen. Moreover, it is more than worthy competition for our Samsung, since official store Lenovo gives it away for some 10 thousand rubles. At the same time, it is lighter, more compact, equipped with a faster processor, a 4G module, it has 16 GB of memory, but only 1 GB of RAM. The cameras are noticeably better, and the Phab also feels noticeably more comfortable in the hands. And it runs on Android 5.1.

Can you imagine finding an adequate Galaxy competitor Tab A 7.0 simply fails. Apart from the Lenovo Phab described above, the rest are either very cheap and are in the ultra-budget device segment, or are outdated models, such as, for example, Acer Iconia Tab 7 A1-713HD. It costs about 10 thousand rubles and is equipped with a 4-core MediaTek MT8382 processor, its screen has a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, there are 16 GB of flash memory and 1 GB of RAM. At the same time, it has a weak 3400 mAh battery and ancient Android 4.4. It's also thicker and heavier than the Samsung.

Pros:

  • high-quality assembly;
  • decent screen for its class;
  • relatively high quality rear camera.

The company has released a small but functional gadget for its customers

Let's do more detailed review characteristics of the new model, learn about its parameters and the capabilities it provides to the user.

Contents of delivery

The delivery set, as before, is minimal - documentation, a cable for connecting via USB and a charger. Nothing new, unusual or unnecessary. Headphones or case, protective film Everyone acquires on the screen according to their wishes.

Design

As is customary with this manufacturer, the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is outwardly simple in design, but looks attractive - the designers’ sense of style does not disappear over time. The tablet is available in black and white colors.

There is a manufacturer's logo on the top of the front, a function key on the bottom, and two on either side of it. touch buttons. On the back you can see the camera connector, on the side of it there is a speaker and another reminder of who released this gadget.

The body is made of matte plastic and looks beautiful and dignified. The dimensions are quite compact, the device can be easily carried with you, and it weighs little. Similar solution determines and - the device is well suited for the user for work, study, travel, as it is convenient to take with you.

Generally external design does not cause any complaints and will appeal to many buyers; the device will fit well into any environment, which makes it universal.

Screen

The model is equipped with a 7-inch screen with a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, guaranteeing good image quality. This diagonal is the most popular among users, as it is convenient for watching movies or web pages, but at the same time the tablet remains compact and mobile, so you can always have it at hand.

It's worth noting that IPS screens like this Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 are notable for their quality and are the best option for such technology. They are inexpensive and provide colorful images with large viewing angles. Such a display will cope well with basic tasks - such as watching videos or photos, reading, surfing the Internet.

Performance

The tablet comes with an Exynos 3475 processor, which consists of 4 cores and has clock frequency 1.3 GHz. Performance is also affected RAM, the volume of which in the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is 1.5 GB. Combining the characteristics, we can conclude that the tablet has decent performance, which is sufficient for a mid-class device.

Such parameters are enough for everyday tasks - using the Internet, watching videos or movies, reading and working in applications, even if all this happens at the same time. Naturally, a tablet cannot be considered a gaming tablet - equipment with such specialization is much more expensive, since games require more powerful parameters.

Of course, you can play on this device, but the graphics are unlikely to be the most realistic, and demanding applications may not be displayed correctly. So the tablet can be used mainly for work, and on the road it will come in handy as a compact multimedia center.

Multimedia capabilities

The multimedia capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 can be judged based on the screen parameters, performance and sound. If we talk about the screen, then its quality will allow you to enjoy beautiful picture film, video or photographs, and the 7-inch size also plays in its favor.

The tablet's speaker is located on the back, close to the camera but not on the edge, so you won't be muted when holding the device. It produces a pretty good loud and clear sound. The model's performance is sufficient to fully perform all multimedia-related tasks. The system provides 8 GB of memory for storing files - not much, but the tablet can easily read cards up to 200 GB in size. Therefore, you will have somewhere to store all your books, documents, photos and TV series, and the main space is better used for applications.

Battery and operating time

The tablet has a 4000 mAh battery. Considering the operation of the system, this power should be enough for 9 hours of operation of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016. In fact, such an indicator is very relative - it all depends on how intensively you use the device.

It can be assumed that since the screen, like the processor, does not consume too much energy, the battery will be enough for one working day. In some cases, if you use the tablet for only an hour and a half a day, it will last for several days without any problems.

Camera

Basic Samsung module The Galaxy Tab A 2016 has 5 megapixels - not bad for a mid-range device, but not enough for high-quality photos. However, most tablets come with cameras that are far from the main one, but therefore you shouldn’t expect much from them.

In general, with the help of a camera you can do nice pictures in optimal lighting, it will help you out in situations where you urgently need to photograph something. The 2 MP front module will help you create good “selfies” and cope with video communications. You don't need anything else from this camera.

Operating system and programs

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 tablet runs on the Android system with the Lollipop shell, common to many devices of this brand. As before, this software is easy to use, has a standard menu in the form of a list of applications, and understanding the settings and interface is not difficult even for a beginner.

The system operates stably and smoothly, in basic set all provided necessary programs to start using the tablet: browsers, mail, alarm clock with calculator, settings, file manager, player, multimedia storage and several more programs.

Installing other components is not difficult using the Google store, so there is nothing special or unusual in the tablet system. However, no shortcomings were found in it.

Competitors

If you are looking for a tablet with average specifications and a low price, a 7-inch display and optimal performance, pay attention to this competitor Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 is like the Asus Nexus 7. It has a slightly better screen and a 1.5 GHz processor. In general, in terms of the overview of the main parameters, the tablets are almost identical, and they cost almost the same.

Other competitors are superior in some ways and inferior in some ways to this model, so more detailed comparison It’s worth doing it yourself, based on your needs. In general, the device is a completely original and worthy gadget, so it’s worth paying attention to it.

Advantages and disadvantages

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 tablet is a good device with powerful characteristics for its price level, in which I would like to note the following advantages:

  • Pleasant external design.
  • High-quality display with good viewing angles.
  • High performance.
  • Sufficient battery capacity.

Among the disadvantages, as always when it comes to tablets, we can mention the cameras. As for this particular device, it also lacks 3G, 4G, LTE, which are becoming increasingly popular. However, if they were present in such a device, its cost would become much higher.

Conclusions or conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Tab A 2016 tablet is an excellent user gadget for everyday tasks - accessing the network via Wi-Fi, working with documents and multimedia. Compactness and harmonious dimensions make it convenient both for home and for use on the road, which adds to its attractiveness. It is equipped with a high-quality display, has high performance, looks stylish and is appropriate in any environment.

Therefore, undoubtedly, this model is worth your attention. It will provide the user with everything they need - and at a cost that is well correlated with the quality of the equipment.
