So as not to search for firmware, etc. What if there is no new version. But, it seemed to me, this check is a little lying. Or she only finds some serious updates. I originally had the firmware 3.0.0.4.376_3754 . I intentionally uploaded an older one 3.0.0.4.376_3690 . I ran the check, and the router told me that I had the latest version installed. We draw conclusions: the online check is lying, a rollback to the old firmware on the Asus router can be done.
  • If you have a new router, and you want to update the software before setting it up, then you need to immediately look for a new version of the software and update it. Or, again, configure the router and check for a new version from the control panel.
  • As far as I understand, even if you have already configured your Asus, the firmware update will not affect your settings; you will not have to configure it again. Which is very good.
  • Be careful when downloading firmware from the manufacturer's website. Download the firmware specifically for your device (we'll look at this in detail now).

The router's control panel doesn't say anything about not flashing the router via Wi-Fi. If nothing is said about this, then it can be done, but I do not recommend it. It is better to connect to the router via a network cable at the time of updating the firmware. Or perhaps you already have a computer that is connected via LAN. If something goes wrong during the update process, or you upload the wrong firmware, then most likely it will go into emergency mode and you will have to restore the router with the Firmware Restoration program. And it’s not a fact that it will be possible to restore it.

Now go to the support page on the official Asus website at http://www.asus.com/support/.

The note: For this router model and its relatives, there is no need to select a hardware version, but on others this may be a mandatory procedure before choosing firmware. To determine the version of hardware installed on your router, you will usually just need to look at the bottom of the device itself.

Go a little lower on the page and you will see a list of all firmware versions for Netis WF2419 released by the developer. You can read next to each firmware to see what has been fixed or added to a new version. In this case, we do not have to select the software version. Just click on the download icon and the archived file will be on your computer. For example, the latest firmware at the moment is V2.2.36123. Once you download it, you need to extract a file called netis from the archive (WF2419)-V2.2.36123.bin(this is the firmware file).

Let's go to the official website and go to the downloads section. We look at the list of Wi-Fi routers - select TL-WR841N. Pay attention to the drop-down menu with the choice of hardware for the router; The router model in our hands has version 10 hardware. Therefore, select from the drop-down menu V10 and press the button Firmware. At the moment, the latest firmware version is TL-WR841N_V10_151216_RU.

As in the case of a Wi-Fi router from Netis, we download the archive to our computer and then extract the file with the .BIN extension from it. Then open the TL-WR841N control panel (address - http://192.168.0.1) and log in with your details (on the new router this is admin/admin). Find and open the tab System Tools. Next, open a subtab Firmware update. Here we do exactly the same thing: press the button Choose File, select the downloaded firmware and click on the button Update.

Ready. As with the previous router, to update the firmware you need, so to speak, to select the necessary tools and press a couple of buttons. The same procedure applies to other routers. We once again strongly recommend that you do not forget from your mind the important points described at the very beginning of the material, namely: selecting the correct firmware, disconnecting the provider cable from the WAN port before flashing, and not trying to update the software via Wi-Fi. And, of course, do not turn off the power to the Wi-Fi router while updating the firmware, otherwise you will most likely lose the device.
