Firstly, the unibody case is pleasant to the eye and to the touch, compact and lightweight. Further, my battery lasted the stated 7 hours with Wi-Fi turned on when working with pdf and iWork. I have an American laptop with a US keyboard and Russian engraving (the backlighting of Russian letters is retained), I don’t really like the PCT keyboard with a crooked enter and short shift keys. It is very convenient to have two cards: when working with simple programs and running on battery power, I turn on the geforce 9400; when working with videos and games, the geforce 9600 gt is turned on. The headphone and microphone inputs are separate, but when you connect a headset from an iPhone, the headphone input also takes over the functions of the microphone jack. The glossy screen conveys the picture well, I don’t suffer from glare, because... I don’t take my poppy out for a walk outside.

The laptop itself is simply a work of art. After working on Mac OS, I’m unlikely to return to Windows. Sleek, durable and thin. 6 meters of cache is a completely separate conversation. Nothing slows down, you don’t have to reboot a hundred times a day. Video and photo processing programs are incomparable. I chose a laptop with the expectation of three years. And I decided one thing for myself: the next laptop will also be a Mac)

Excellent screen - swiped it with a napkin and the screen was clean. NO SEAL! For those who don’t know what this is, this is the piece of paper that prevents you from opening your laptop. Every PC has this, but Mac doesn't! Speed of work - Wow! Before turning it on for the first time, I took it apart and installed 4 GB RAM and a 500 GB hard drive. The entire manual for installing RAM and memory is in the instructions. You can install OS X Lion for free on early Mac models on Apple's website. Everything went well! I opened the resource monitor, and there!... free RAM - 3GB! At the same time, I have 10 applications open. Well, in general, you know - Apple technology is the best in the world!

After the purchase I tried to get used to the operating system, but I couldn’t try. Habit is a terrible force, so I installed a second Windows OS. Everything became absolutely wonderful with her. Working with photographs, music, the Internet, films - everything is top notch. The screen, in my opinion, is generally the best I've ever seen. The keyboard seemed to be built for my crooked hands.

The TouchPad is simply huge, it pleases with its response and ForceTouch technology. Operating system Mac OS X Yosemite, but it is possible to install Windows 7 or 8. Fifth generation Intel Core i5 processor with built-in Intel Iris Graphics 6100 graphics card. Ultra-high resolution screen, but only 227 dpi. Wi-Fi supports all existing standards a /b/g/n/ac. The laptop has a 256 GB SSD, and the PCIe standard, the read speed is amazing. The power supply with a magnetizing connector is a very convenient thing. The autonomy corresponds to the declared one, over 10 hours of surfing the Internet.
Disadvantages: Only two USB.
Apple changes its laptop lineup extremely rarely - once every few years. But between these significant events, several planned updates manage to occur, during which components are changed to more recent ones. Not long ago, one of these “mini-updates” took place - in the MacBook Pro line, the Montevina platform was replaced by the Calpella platform.
⇡ Design and ergonomics
If you put a MacBook Pro 15 from 2009 and 2010 next to each other, you simply won’t be able to tell which one is which. At all. They are absolutely identical.
To distinguish the new MacBook from the old one, you will either have to turn it on or unscrew the bottom and look at the inside.
Identical metal cases of the same light silver color. Identical apples on the lid - equally glowing when the laptops are turned on. Identical “frameless” displays.
Identical dimensions, quite modest, I must say.
The keyboards are also the same. Exactly the same ones are used in the more compact MacBook Pro 13 and in the larger MacBook Pro 17. The only difference is that in the “tag” and “seven” the speakers are placed on the sides of the keyboard, and in the “thin” they are located on the bottom .
The touch panels are again identical. And, of course, they are exactly the same as in other models of the MacBook Pro line. Huge, “buttonless” and with excellent gesture support - no Windows laptop has yet come close to achieving such convenient and correct multi-touch functionality.
Even the set of ports is no different - it is equally sparse. Network, USB pair, FireWire 800, non-standard Mini DisplayPort monitor output, memory card reader, audio connectors - that's all.
However, just a year ago there was no card reader, even as an option. So the current set of interfaces is relatively good.

It should be kept in mind that last year's MacBook Pro was tested in a low-end configuration. Whereas the updated model was tested in the oldest standard version. So it would not be very correct to directly compare the filling - after all, the prices for these configurations are seriously different.
The previous generation MacBook Pro 15 used processors from the Core 2 Duo family - mostly from the "P" series, which is characterized by low power consumption. The new generation mainly uses Core i5 processors. Only in the older configuration can you find a rather rare Core i7 620M processor - the fastest of the dual-core Core i3/i5/i7. In addition to the L3 cache increased to 4 MB, this CPU boasts extremely high operating frequencies - up to 3.33 GHz in Turbo Boost mode.

However, unlike quad-core Core i7s, this processor does not support DDR3-1333 memory. Therefore, neither the volume nor the performance of the RAM has changed compared to the previous generation. The old and new MacBooks have 4 GB of DDR3-1066 memory installed in two 2 GB sticks.

With the graphics subsystem everything is a little more interesting. If the MacBook Pro 15 sample 2009 used integrated NVIDIA graphics, then in the new generation it was abandoned in favor of the built-in Intel solution - standard GMA HD. At the same time, the configuration with only one integrated video card disappeared. All new MacBook Pro 15 are equipped with dual graphics system: Intel GMA HD + NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M. The memory capacity varies from 256 MB for the lower configurations to 512 MB for the older one, which was tested.

The new MacBook Pro 15 does not use NVIDIA Optimus, but Apple's own development. It feels like it works very similarly - graphics switch without any inconveniences such as rebooting or screen flickering. The only problem is that under Windows with drivers installed from the included disk, the graphics (yet?) cannot be switched, you can only use discrete ones.
Inside, the MacBook Pro remained almost the same as it was: the layout of the filling has not changed at all. Apparently, Apple considers it no less ideal than the appearance of this laptop.

The included power supplies are slightly different: the new adapters are equipped with a slightly changed power connector. It is somewhat less convenient in cases where the back of the laptop is adjacent to the wall - the wire has to be passed along the side wall, on which the ports are concentrated.

The weak configuration of the MacBook Pro 15 from 2009 does not require much power, but the new MacBook is more power-hungry: power supplies have a power of 60 and 85 W, respectively. The dimensions are similar, the difference in length and width is about half a centimeter. The weight of the adapters differs more significantly: 210 and 300 grams, respectively.
