What is the best ps3 joystick emulator. Connecting to PS3 via wire

Gaming on computers and game consoles has become more convenient thanks to gamepads. Remote control allows you to relax and play in comfort. Players often wonder whether from PC to PS3 and vice versa. Next we will talk in detail about correct connection. What information may be useful to the user in this or that case? What should you pay attention to?

Chances of connection

The first step is to figure out how realistic the task is. The main problem is that the computer and game console are different devices, which support peripheral devices.

A game joystick from a computer can be connected to a PlayStation 3. A gamepad from a console will, in some cases, work on a PC. Accordingly, there is always a chance for success. Especially if you give preference to joysticks from Microsoft.

Connection methods

There are several options for connecting gamepads. The success of the task often depends on this choice.

Today you can connect the joystick using a wire or a Bluetooth receiver. This applies to both working with a PC gamepad and when playing on the console component. notice, that wired connection easier. sometimes not recognized game console or a computer, so it’s not always possible to connect them.

What you need to connect

The next important issue is collecting the equipment necessary for the procedure. Without it, it will not be possible to realize the idea. Fortunately, you will need a minimum of items.

How to connect a joystick from PC to PS3? For this you will need:

  • game console;
  • gamepad;
  • USB cable or Bluetooth adapter.

Agree, nothing special. If you want to connect a PS3 game joystick to your computer, you may additionally need:

  • emulator program for setting up control buttons;
  • Gamepad drivers.

In fact, everything is much simpler than it seems, so even a novice user can handle connecting game controllers.

Connecting to PS3 via wire

In general, the task at hand will not differ much from working with a “native” gamepad. Having all the previously listed accessories will reduce the likelihood of failure to a minimum. Some problems may arise when working with wireless gamepads. If wires are used, in 90% of cases you can hope for a successful completion of the operation.

How to connect a joystick from PC to PS3? To do this, just stick to small instructions. It looks something like this:

  1. Place the game console in a convenient place. Connect it to a power source using a special wire, and then to a TV or monitor.
  2. Turn on the device. Wait for it to load completely.
  3. Connect the USB cable to the gamepad. Insert it into any USB hole on the set-top box.
  4. Enable gamepad. Wait for it to initialize.

This is where all the action ends. If the PlayStation 3 supports one or another joystick from a computer, everything will work. Otherwise, you will have to abandon the idea. It is important that the controller is set to Gamepad 1.

Wireless connection to PS3

How to connect a joystick from PC to PS3 wirelessly? It is important to remember that the first work with the device must be carried out through a wire. Otherwise, the controller will not be recognized. Accordingly, it will not work.

If you want to use a wireless connection, you must:

  1. Connect PS3 to the screen and to the network.
  2. Insert the WireLess receiver into the USB connector. It is sold either separately from the gamepad or bundled with it.
  3. Turn on the controller and set-top box.
  4. Press the PS button on the controller.

No more manipulations are required. After these steps, the joystick will be detected by the game console. You can play!

Important: for any connection, first charge the controller, otherwise it simply will not turn on. 10-15 minutes of recharging before starting work is enough.

From console to PC

Now you know how to connect a joystick from a PC to a PS3. How can you perform a similar operation, but in reverse? That is, work with a PlayStation game controller on a computer?

Bringing your idea to life is easier than it might seem at first glance. As in the previous case, we recommend giving preference to a wired connection, which avoids many problems.

Algorithm of actions when connecting game controller from the prefix comes down to the following steps:

  1. Turn on the computer and establish an Internet connection.
  2. Download and install the driver for a specific joystick. To do this, you will have to download a special program, for example, Motioninjoy.
  3. Connect the controller to the PC using a wire.
  4. In the mentioned application, open the Profiles item and check the box next to Select one mode.
  5. Enable gamepad. Wait for it to initialize.

Once synchronization is complete, the light on the joystick will light up. This is a sign that everything was done correctly. The joystick is configured using additional program xPadder.

If you are using a wireless gamepad, you will need:

  1. Install the driver for the gamepad on your PC.
  2. Insert the WireLess receiver into the computer.
  3. Charge the controller and turn it on.

What you need to play with a PS3 joystick on PC

As you probably guess, the implementation of the idea of using original gamepad from PlayStation 3- quite realistic, because if it were impossible, the article would consist of only a couple of sentences.

However, do not think that everything is so simple. If you were using controller from Xbox 360 or One, nothing but a package official drivers and you wouldn’t need an original cable/receiver, since it was developed by Microsoft, the creator of Windows. It is clear that the optimization of its equipment is implemented on top level, but what about products from Sony?

First of all, we will introduce you list of necessary “inventory”. In addition to the PS3 controller, you will need either a DualShock 3 compatible USB cable or a Bluetooth adapter in your computer (if using wireless connection). In addition, you will need special programs, including special drivers and settings.

As you may have guessed, there are 2 ways to connect a console gamepad and Personal Computer: by wire and without. Which option you choose depends on your hardware, as well as your own preferences.

Program for PS3 gamepad on PC

Absence official support Sony controllers on Windows will make themselves felt at the very beginning of the journey. Ideally, by connecting the joystick via wire and pressing the button PS, you will see how the system will automatically detect the device and download the necessary drivers.

There is no need to flash the PS3 joystick or modify it in any way. It's easy enough to follow simplest instructions presented in this material.

In practice, this happens rarely, because for automatic update you will most likely need drivers licensed OS version. Let's be honest, in our region few people buy Windows for home use.

Another stumbling block will appear on your way after you find out that Sony no official software for the gamepad to work on PC. Fortunately, they will help solve this problem third party developers, who created a program for connecting a PS3 joystick to a computer.

So, the preface is over, let's move on to practice. N build a PS3 joystick on PC The MotioninJoy program will help. Its installation is unremarkable and follows the script: “Next” - “Next” - “Next” - “Finish”, so you definitely won’t have any difficulties here.

Let's go directly to the process itself. First of all, you need to connect the gamepad via wire.

Please note, before connecting the controller for the first time, make sure it is fully charged. If the battery runs out during the setup process, you risk going back to the very beginning and doing everything all over again.

Launch MotioninJoy, and then go to the tab Driver Manager. In the proposed list, you need to select a driver for PS3 peripherals, and then start downloading it by clicking on Load driver.

Once the process comes to an end, Profiles you need to click on Select one mode, and then select Custom. Upon completion of all the described steps, all that remains is to save all changes and (if desired) assign own parameters management.

As you have already noticed, along with setting up the program, we described the method of connecting via cable, so if you chose this option, you can move from theory to practice.

Connecting a gamepad via Bluetooth

The PC is famous for its abundance of wires, and some users don’t want to add another one. In this case, you can “use” wireless connection , the configuration of which we will describe later.

We will still use the same MotioninJoy, but we will have to configure it a little differently.

Before you start connecting via Bluetooth, do everything we talked about earlier, that is, set up a wired connection.

First you need to make sure that on your computer Bluetooth is present and turned on, and the gamepad is charged enough to not turn off during synchronization.

First, in Windows itself you need to do search wireless devices and connect the gamepad, even if the system says that you are trying to pair it with an unrecognized device.

In the program for PS3 joysticks, you need to find and open the tab BluetoothPair and choose there Bluetooth. Having indicated the adapter in the list of available ones, you need to click on Pair Now and wait end of the process.

If everything went well, the gamepad will vibrate briefly, which signals readiness for use in computer games.

It happens that the DualShock 3 on a PC does not work the first time. In this case, you need to check whether you have installed latest version programs. If not, then better download it.

Besides this, you can try reinstall the software and restart your computer before trying again.

Hello Geektimes! Today, of course, is not Friday, but the topic is very Friday. We all love to relax, everyone does it in their own way, and, of course, among the audience of the IT resource there are both fans of video games and fans of the PC as a gaming platform. There is no doubt that it is convenient to play shooters and RPG/RTS on a mouse and keyboard, but there are entire genres where analog control from a gamepad/joystick/steering wheel is preferable.

Today we will figure out how we are doing with connecting the most popular controllers to a PC: the original XBox 360 gamepads, XBox One and PS3/PS4.

XBox 360 Gamepad for Windows

The simplest and most accessible gamepad in terms of connection. All you need to do is purchase and connect it to your PC. Windows itself will detect a compatible X-input device and download drivers. After the central button shows one burning segment, you can safely go fight monsters, conquer race tracks and enjoy life.

Advantages and disadvantages:

+ The gamepad itself is inexpensive;

+ Reliable and unpretentious;
- Only wired connection, if you have the wired version, wireless version the gamepad is more expensive;

XBox One original Gamepad

The second simplest and most accessible option. It works exactly the same: bought it, connected it, it works. If you don’t like a wired connection, then you can separately get a wireless module, which Microsoft promised to release (apparently, along with Windows 10). Accordingly, the pros and cons are approximately the same.

Advantages and disadvantages:
+ Simpler than ever, pure Plug And Play;
+ All games on Windows with gamepad support are designed specifically for the XBox layout;
+ It is possible to connect via radio and play wirelessly;
- Not the most pleasant price, wireless module sold separately;
- Heavier than competitors, and also requires two AA batteries (in some countries batteries are included);
- Not everyone likes the orientation of the sticks (analog controls), it’s a matter of habit and personal preference.

PS3-DualShock 3, SixAxis gamepad or PS4-DualShock4 gamepad

To connect an original gamepad from PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4, you will need a MiniUSB or MicroUSB cable, drivers from the XBox 360 gamepad (if you have Windows 7, 8.1 is not required), Microsoft .Net 4.0 and Visual C++ redistributable packages for Visual Studio 2013 and most importantly - the SCP Driver program.

The procedure is as follows: first, we do not connect the gamepad, but simply install the necessary software. Download original drivers from XBox 360 gamepad, install. After that, we unpack the SCP Driver archive wherever it is convenient for us (if you want, create a folder in Program Files, if you want, send it somewhere else, it is important that no one accidentally deletes the files).

We connect the gamepad via wire; if a Bluetooth connection is necessary, insert the “whistle” of the USB-Bluetooth adapter (version no lower than 2.1) and wait for the drivers to be installed by the system.

Note: the utility reserves the Bluetooth adapter for gamepads, so it is better to turn off the built-in BT module using the hotkey or from the control panel, if you have one and use it in your laptop/computer. Personally, I recommend this adapter - it works exactly and does not raise any questions for either the system or third-party software.

Next, open ScpDriver.exe, if you have Windows XP or Vista, check the “Force Install” box (in other cases, therefore, don’t check it), click the “Install” button and wait for the program to report successful completion installations.

After performing these simple manipulations, the gamepad will work as X-Input compatible, that is, it is visible in the system as the original controller from the XBox 360. If you want to use a wireless connection, just disconnect the wire from the gamepad, it will automatically switch to a Bluetooth connection.

Advantages and disadvantages:
+ Supports the latest original gamepads from PS3 and PS4;
+ Allows you to use up to 4 gamepads from one USB connection;
+ Gamepads from PS3 are relatively inexpensive;
- Requires manual installation;
- Bluetooth adapters are different and do not always work perfectly with gamepads;

- PS3 gamepads are especially criticized in shooters for having uninformative sticks;

Original PS4 gamepad, alternative method

There is an easier and more pleasant way, which also allows you to squeeze all the juice out of the DualShock 4. It's called InputMapper. This utility allows you to connect the original PS4 gamepad and use it to its fullest: both the touchpad and acceleration sensors will work. All you need for installation is the gamepad itself, the latest version of the program (you can get it here) and five minutes for a simple installation.

The program is simple, with its installation the PS4 gamepad turns into an equally understandable and available to the system device like the original XBox 360 Gamepad for Windows with two pleasant bonuses. Touchpad works like a trackpad - you can control the cursor from it. Not to say that it’s a very necessary thing, but sometimes you’re too lazy to reach for the mouse or get up from the couch... Accelerometers also work (though I don’t know where they can be used and what games support them, but having a feature is better than not having one).

To connect a PS4 gamepad via Bluetooth, you need to put it in pairing mode: hold down the “share” button (in games it plays the role of “back”) and PS for a few seconds, wait until the gamepad starts flashing the signal LED quickly and intermittently, go to Bluetooth connection menu on your computer and simply connect the controller to your PC. InputMapper perfectly recognizes both wired and wireless connections.

Advantages and disadvantages:
+ Easier than connecting via SCP Driver;
+ Works for everyone and always, there are problems with SCP Driver;
+ All features of the PS4 gamepad work;
+ The gamepad itself is much better than its PS3 counterpart;
+ Bluetooth connection without problems and the need to purchase an external adapter;
- Gamepad price;
- Hints in games will come with XBox buttons: either get used to it and remember something somewhere, or buy stickers for the PS gamepad buttons;

Which gamepad to choose

Actually, the question here is whether you have a console at home or not. If there is, there is probably no point in switching to gamepads of an alternative layout (unless, of course, you have experience with them and you are not sure that the XBox layout approach is better than the PS and vice versa).

If you have never had a console, and you take a gamepad for some Dark Souls, games in Need For Speed from the sofa or something else - the most affordable and simple option will be the purchase of an XBox 360 Gamepad for Windows. No hassles native support all games, excellent ergonomics.

As for the PS4 and XBox One gamepads, the choice here, again, depends on personal preference, however, here's what I noticed.

The PS4 gamepad is better built. The body materials look (and feel) more expensive, all the buttons click perfectly, and the source of players' main complaint - the analog sticks - have been shortened and made much more sensitive. If the original PS3 controllers made me spit, the PS4 controller evokes exceptionally warm feelings. The touchpad gets in the way in some games, but it's a matter of habit. The controller has two disadvantages: in my opinion, the cross is simply terrible and very inconveniently located, and the “share” and “option” buttons (in the system they will serve as “back” and “start”, respectively) cannot be pressed blindly.

Unfortunately, I can't say enough good things about the XBox One controller. Yes, its ergonomics have become better, it fits more pleasantly in the hand, the fingers find all the necessary controls themselves, and the new cross is simply excellent, but... the quality of assembly and materials raises not so much questions as doubts about the adequacy of the engineer or designer who approved this work and developed.

Glossy inserts. Glossy buttons. Glossy triggers. It's good that the sticks aren't glossy. In addition, despite the fact that I am a fan of the XBox layout and ergonomics, xbox gamepad The One is heavier and much less well built than its main competitor. In addition, wireless connectivity is still questionable. I also really didn’t like the new buttons above the triggers - they are tight, uninformative, and look unreliable. Here.

My personal purchase adequacy chart looks like this.

Gamepads from Play Station 3 feature DirectInput technology. However, most modern games use XInput technology, which can lead to certain problems. For correction possible problems DualShock technology is used, but for it to work correctly, it needs to be further configured.

What is DualShock and how to connect it

This technology supports working with Windows out of the box, meaning you don’t need to purchase anything additional to connect the joystick to your computer. The kit will include a USB cable for connecting to a computer. Drivers will also be installed automatically in most cases.

Option 1: MotionJoy

If the game does not support DirectInput technology, then it will be very difficult to play it normally using a gamepad. It is in such cases that it is recommended to download and install special emulators on your computer that are designed to solve the problem. If you are using a DualShock type connection, then it is best to choose the MotionJoy emulator.

The order of interaction with it is as follows:

Option 2: SCP Toolkit

This program is hosted on the GitHub service and has an open source source, plus it is distributed completely free of charge. With its help, you can emulate a joystick from a PS3, thanks to which the computer sees it as a gamepad from an Xbox. This improves the Windows experience and reduces the likelihood of crashes. Also, this program can work not only with USB connections, but also with Bluetooth wireless connections.

The setup procedure is as follows:

U this decision there is a serious drawback - it is too impractical to use it for old games. Sometimes it may not work at all, but this problem usually only affects older games. If you need to be able to play both new and old games, then go with the first option.

The PS3 controller can be run on a computer via USB or Bluetooth connections. However, problems may arise when launching both old and new games, so it is recommended to use various emulators that solve these problems.

There are several ways to connect a PS3 joystick to your computer. But don't rush to use any of them. Why?

The fact is that some connection methods may disrupt the operation USB keyboards. In writing this instruction, I will note this.

Connecting the joystick: method No. 1. Basic and safe.

1. First, download the archive with a small program - sixaxis Naturally install

2. Now connect the joystick

3. launch SixaxisDriver and click the “Load Driver” button

That's it, it's done. Minus is that only a wired joy can be connected in this way.

Step 1. Download from http://www.motioninjoy.com/download (choose the version suitable for your Windows)

Step 2. You need to configure the driver and the desired connection. Fortunately there are instructions

Step 3. Specify the joystick type. For example, Xbox is preferable due to its greater compatibility.

There are two downsides:

1. After rebooting, you must re-enable the emulator each time.

2. High chance Windows reinstallation. The fact is that sometimes a conflict between the software and the OS may occur, causing USB ports to “disappear”

Third method (unsafe)

2. Install libusb-win32-filter-bin-0.1.12.2

3. Connect the joystick via USB

4. Run ps3sixaxis_en.exe

This must be done via the command line

5. press the PS button (I hope you know where it is)

Three minuses:

1. via Bluetooth - does not work

2. No vibration

3. Again, there may be problems with the OS. Reinstallation may be required.

Although it should be noted that not everyone needs this. Someone did it and is still alive

Here's a video on connecting a PlayStation 3 joy to a PC (I'm not a fan of posting someone else's stuff, but the author described everything really well)
