What devices are connected to the computer. Connecting devices to a computer

The properties of hardware used in conjunction with Windows are managed using a special utility called Device Manager. To display the Device Manager window, you must do the following:

  • Open the Windows Main Menu and click on the “Options” button;
  • In the list that opens, click on “System”;
  • In the menu on the left, select "About the system";
  • At the bottom of the window that opens, click on “Device Manager.” The appearance of this utility is shown in the following figure:

Device Manager is a special system program designed to graphically represent equipment connected to a computer and manage this equipment. Using Device Manager you can:

  • determine whether devices connected to the computer are working correctly;
  • change the computer hardware configuration settings;
  • identify the drivers used for each device and get detailed information about any of them;
  • install or change used device drivers;
  • disconnect or connect any device in the system;
  • eliminate conflicts between devices that arise when they share the same computer resources without permission;
  • restore a previously deleted driver or original settings of a device.

In fact, Device Manager makes it possible to completely manage the computer's hardware resources and arbitrarily change the properties of the equipment running on this machine. It should be noted that in most cases, additional configuration of devices using the Device Manager is not required: Windows determines the optimal parameters for the operation of the equipment automatically during the installation process, so you should change the default system settings only in cases where hardware conflicts are detected or incorrect operation of a device.

So, the main workspace of the Device Manager utility is vertically divided into two windows. The left window, the so-called Console, appears on the screen when you click on the “Hide/Show Console Tree” button located on the Device Manager Toolbar.

The hardware configuration of a computer can be presented in several options, switching between which is carried out through the “View” menu of the Device Manager program:

  • Devices by type. This mode is installed in the Device Manager window by default. The equipment connected to the computer is displayed in the form of a branching tree structure by device type: for example, “DVD/CD-ROM Drives”, “Ports”, “Sound, Video and Game Devices”, etc. A list of each device type is displayed below header indicating this type. In order to expand the list, you need to click on the “+” symbol next to the heading designation, or double-click on the heading itself;
  • "Devices by connection." The “Device by Connection” mode displays the equipment used by the system, distributing it into logical groups according to the way they are connected to the computer. For example, if you have multiple devices connected to the USB bus, they will be represented in the same logical group;
  • "Resources by Type." The “Resources by Type” mode allows you to consider the resources used by the system, such as interrupt requests, I/O range, port and memory addresses, according to the distribution of the devices using them;
  • "Connectivity Resources." Using this mode, you can track the current status of all resources involved in the system according to the method of connecting the devices using them to the computer.

By default, the hardware configuration window of Device Manager does not display all the hardware used in the system. In particular, the program does not show devices that do not support the Plug and Play standard. To access the settings of all computer hardware, check the box next to Show hidden devices in the View menu of the program window. Clicking this item again will hide all “invisible” devices again.

All operations with equipment that can be performed using the Device Manager are performed by clicking on the corresponding buttons located in the program toolbar. The purpose of these buttons is shown in the following table:

By viewing the list of hardware displayed in the Hardware Configuration window of Device Manager, you can determine which devices are already installed on your system and which are not.

The question “how to connect a computer” is asked by many beginners who have just bought the entire set of necessary peripherals and now have no idea what to do with it. Are you one of them? Then let's figure out together what's what and how to connect it all together. Go!

What do you need to connect your computer?

To connect a computer and work with it we need:

First of all, we will need the most necessary components, which are highlighted in bold above. It is impossible to work with a PC without them. Therefore, we take out the system unit, monitor, keyboard and mouse from the boxes. Each of them comes with a CD - put them aside, we will need them later.

I told you how to connect a computer to a monitor in - it has its own nuances, so I won’t dwell on them in detail.

How to connect a mouse and keyboard to a computer?

Let's look at the back panel of the computer and find many of the same type of connectors on it - USB 2.0 or USB 3.0. USB 3.0 is a faster connector for connecting peripheral devices to a computer and differs from its predecessor in the blue color of the connector. If the devices that you are going to connect support this standard, that is, they have the same blue connector on the wire, it is better to use it for higher response speed and data transfer.

Most modern equipment uses this connector for connection - keyboard, mouse, webcam, printer, scanner, microphone, speakers, flash drives, and so on. Therefore, we take our keyboard and mouse in series and connect them to the USB connector on the back of the PC case.

Today it is also possible to use wireless devices. They are always equipped with small wireless Bluetooth transmitters. We also insert it into the USB port on the computer, and then when the computer is turned on, they themselves, or with our help, will connect to each other.

If you come across your father’s old computer, then most likely it has two more connectors for the mouse and keyboard - PS/2 (purple for the keyboard and green for the mouse), but in modern realities they are almost never found. To connect to them, these devices, of course, must have appropriate plugs or adapters from USB to PS/2.

Connecting speakers and microphone

The next step is to connect the system unit with a microphone and speakers or headphones. For the simplest microphone or headphones, the usual output and MiniJack output are suitable - pink for the microphone and green for acoustics.

If you purchased more advanced models, then most likely they will also be connected via a USB connector. The same applies to the rest - we connect the printer, webcam and everything else via USB ports.

How to connect your computer to the Internet?

To connect a computer to the Internet, there is another special connector on the rear panel - LAN. We insert either a cable from the provider directly into it, or a patch cord that will connect the computer to the router.

Another way is to again use an external wireless WiFi adapter, which also uses USB.

Connecting your computer to electricity

The last step is to supply power to the PC. To do this, take out of the box the thickest cord with a massive plug, which is inserted at one end into the power supply, and at the other into an electrical outlet. It is best to connect the PC not directly, but through a surge protector or an uninterruptible power supply -0, so you will save it from sudden power surges and from the loss of data not saved during operation.

After that, switch the toggle switch on the power supply to the “ON” position and press the computer power button on the front of the case.

Voila! The computer started, but that's not all. Remember what I said about CDs in boxes? We take them and install all the drivers on the equipment one by one for its correct operation. After this, you can say for sure that the computer is completely assembled.

Do you still have questions about how to connect your computer? Then ask them in the comments!

Good day, dear readers of my blog. Did you know that while at work, you can easily access your home computer from your phone and view any information.

Today I will tell you how to remotely connect to a computer via the Internet. It will be simple, fast and safe. Scare your loved ones with the phrases: “I know what you did last summer” in Word that opens out of nowhere while they are working on your laptop, and gain access to their mobile phone.

How to connect in Windows 7 and other OS

So, knowing the computer name, you can easily connect to it via the Internet. Frankly speaking, I like this method a little less than the one I will talk about a little later.

It's a little more complicated. Nevertheless, it is quite popular and has its advantages.

So, go to the Windows 7 Control Panel. Click on the “Start” menu and find the desired category here.

In the list we find “System”.

In principle, you can select anything: “Advanced system settings”, “Protection”. The main thing is to get into this tab.

Check the box next to “Allow connection” and go to the “Advanced” section if you want to select users who will be allowed to connect, and also indicate the period during which it can be valid. In fact, this is not necessary, but if you really want to...

Now let's allow connection with any version of the desktop.

Let's add a user who is allowed to invade. As you can see, no one will get to it without your knowledge.

Although, frankly speaking, the protection is not that strong. Either set these values or not. Give access or deny it.

It's like a door. If a professional scammer or a very persistent person who needs a bloody nose to hack the system wants to get in on you, then no amount of “protection” will help. Beginners cannot even cope with a wooden gate on a barn lock.

At the other end of the line, the person will only have to find the “Standard” section in the “Start” menu, and then “Remote connection”.

In the menu that appears, you need to enter the computer name, then you’re done.

If you have Windows XP, then I recommend this tutorial to you. Here you will be shown how to establish a connection with another computer via IP.

An easier way to connect from any device

I like the second method better. It is incredibly simple, convenient and free. To connect to another computer, phone or tablet, you will need to download and connect the TeamViewer program.

Its advantage is that access to the computer is carried out only when the program is turned on, and the desktop removes the wallpaper and is filled with black. The appearance of a fraudster will not go unnoticed.

An easy way to share your computer with your phone

If you want to see your laptop's desktop on your phone, then you will need to download TeamViewer on your computer anyway.

Let's go to official site and download.

Download and run the utility. Be sure to set it to non-commercial use so you don't have to pay.

After installation, you will be greeted with a welcome training page.

On the left is your identification number and password for the current session. The latter is constantly changing. This is for your safety. On the left, you will need to enter your partner's ID to connect to their desktop. We will return to this later.

In principle, if you have two computers with the program installed, then you can work now. There is everything you need for this.

Connect from a phone or tablet

If you go to Google Play, you will find a whole bunch of TeamViewer applications, which one should you choose?

If you just want to have access to your computer from Android, then you will need the second one in the search results. In this case, you will not be assigned an ID and access to your phone or tablet will be denied. If you need it, you will have to download another extension to do it. More on it later, because you won’t be able to view your computer screen through it.

Download “TeamViewer - remote access” and install.

This window awaits you. Click “Continue” in the upper right corner.

Now enter the ID that you specified when entering the program from your computer. To find it, you can simply open the application again and look at the numbers.

Now enter your password in the window that appears.

Once again, you are taught how to use the extension.

Ready. Login is complete.

You can rotate the screen to make it easier to watch.

You can control all computer functions directly from the screen of your mobile device.

Creating a personal account and why is it needed?

To avoid entering , you will need a personal account. Now I’ll show you how to create it, and then we’ll move on to a more interesting and important question - how to view a tablet from a laptop.

Go to the “Computers” section and click “Registration”.

Enter your name, password and address. Convince the system that you are not a robot. It's very simple.

Wait for the letter to arrive in the mail and follow the link. You can do this from your computer. For convenience, immediately change the language to Russian.

Now you can add your contacts, but wait, you don't know the phone ID yet.

By the way, a very important point that I had to dig into for a very long time. In the application, when you enter the “Computers” section, you are asked to provide a name and password. Remember, you entered it when registering? So, what they really want is an email address from you. Until you insert it, no one will open additional opportunities for you.

A small but quite serious mistake in translation can cost several hours of hard work. Well, now let's move on to one of the main topics: how to view a mobile device.

How to access your phone from a computer

There are several applications. You can notice the difference at the top of the logo. In some cases a QS icon will be inserted. This is what we need.

In my case, I will not be able to control the device, I can only view it. I can only show you where to click and what to pay attention to. This is called demo mode.

This is due to the brand of my phone and the powerful security system that TimWeaver was unable to crack. If you need access to management, install the application that was created for your device and you will not have such problems.

If you have a Samsung, then the TeamViewer version is suitable for Samsung; there are similar ones for Lenovo, HTC, LG, ZTE, Prestigio and many others.

There is also just a QS version designed for everyone. Download.

Now I have the application I need. And when it opened, I was given a number.

I go into the program from my laptop and insert the ID on the right. Click “Connect to partner”.

At the top there is an extensive menu that allows for remote control.

In my case, it was not possible to implement any control, but the extension is still quite useful.

On a note. I often need screenshots from my phone to write blog articles. And I already told you to use Yandex Disk for this. This is what I used to use to transfer a large number of photos, but now I will start connecting to the screen with TeamViewer and taking screenshots from the laptop.

By the way, speaking about remote connection, I can’t help but recommend book “How to protect your computer” . In fact, her advantage goes far beyond telling the defense. I don't like Panda or McAfee. I'm with both hands NOD32 . Download it, you won't regret it.

However, there is a lot of useful information here about failures in the operating system, hardware malfunctions, stories about how to distinguish a worm from a Trojan and where we catch viruses. You will learn what to do to deal with resource conflicts, speed up your hard drive, repair your motherboard, how to roll back drivers and much more.

OK it's all over Now. If you found this information useful, subscribe to the newsletter and learn more about life and work on the Internet.

See you again and good luck in your endeavors.

The presence of all the elements of the system unit listed in the first part is already sufficient for the normal operation of the computer; without any of them, the computer will not work! Those. if your computer only has a Case, Power Supply, Motherboard (with video, sound, network integration), Processor with cooler, RAM and Hard Drive, and of course Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, then your computer will already work!

Floppy disk drive (FDD). It is no longer relevant for 2010, but nevertheless... The drive is designed for reading information from a floppy disk - a magnetic storage device with a capacity of 720KB - 1.44 MB. Disk drives are distinguished by size - 3.5" and 5.25" inches. 5.25" inch drives have already gone down in history, but 3.5" inch drives are still in use.

Optical drive (CD/DWD). An optical drive is designed to read or write information from/to optical discs. Drives are distinguished by type and speed of reading/writing information, and optical disks by type and capacity.
* CD-ROM drive is designed for reading information from a CD-ROM or CD-R disk. CD-ROM discs with a capacity of 700 MB are written once during production and nothing can be written or erased from such a disc.
* CD-RW drive is designed for reading information from CD-ROM, CD-R and CD-RW disks with a capacity of 700MB, as well as writing information onto CD-R and CD-RW disks, and CD-RW disks are rewritable, i.e. e. You can write and erase information repeatedly.
* DWD-R/RW drive is designed for reading information from CD-ROM, CD-R, CD-RW disks with a capacity of 700MB, DWD-R and DWD-RW disks with a capacity of 4.7 - 9.4GB, as well as writing information to CD-R, CD-RW, DWD-R, DWD-RW discs.

There are two more types of HD-DWD and DVD Blu-Ray drives, or rather one - DVD Blu-ray, it won the war of formats and is the future. The capacity of a DVD Blu-ray disc can reach 100GB!

Video card. The video card is designed to speed up graphics processing and reduce the load on the central processor. The video card can be either built into the motherboard or external, in the form of a separate board. What’s good about an external video card is that it can be replaced if it breaks, but with a built-in one it’s more difficult.

The video card has its own graphics processor with a cooler and memory, this can significantly reduce the load on the central processor in applications that use complex graphics (games, graphic editors...).

Sound card. The sound card is designed to work with sound. The sound card can also be either built-in or external.

LAN card. A network card is designed to connect a computer to a network, whether local or global (Internet). It can also be either built-in or external. Sometimes you have to insert two network cards, for example, in order to connect two computers at home or in the office. To connect more than two computers to a network, you will already need a SWITCH, we will talk about this in a separate article.

Monitor. The monitor is designed to display information. What can we say about the monitor? The monitor is the face of the computer, which should please your eyes! Therefore, when choosing a monitor, you need to pay attention to the following parameters:
For CRT:
- screen size in inches (15” – 22”) - the larger the better;
- dot size (0.32 – 0.20 mm) – for CRT monitors, the smaller the better;
- maximum scan frequency, or frame rate - the higher the better;
- maximum resolution – the more, the better;
For LCD (LCD or TFT):
- screen size in inches (10” – 30”) - the larger the better;
- dot size - the distance between the centers of neighboring pixels, the smaller the better;
- format (regular and widescreen) - ratio of width to height, for example: 4:3, 16:9, 16:10, 5:4;
- contrast - the ratio of the brightness of the lightest and darkest points. Some monitors use an adaptive backlight level; the contrast figure given for them does not refer to image contrast; the higher this figure, the better;
- brightness - the amount of light emitted by the display, usually measured in candelas per square meter, the higher the number, the better;
- response time - the minimum time required for a pixel to change its brightness, the lower this indicator, the better;
- viewing angle – the larger this indicator, the better;
- matrix type - the technology by which the LCD display is made.

Keyboard. The keyboard is designed for entering text information into a computer using alphanumeric keys, for controlling processes using control keys (Enter, Backspace, Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Tab, Esc, Caps Lock, Num Lock, Scroll Lock, Pause, Print Screen ), to control the cursor (->,<-, Page Up, Page Down, Home, End, Delete, Insert). Кроме того, на клавиатуре есть ещё функциональные (F1-F12) и
number keys (like on a calculator).

Keyboards are now available for every taste - hard, soft, large, small, special (convenient for quick typing), with various additional function keys for more convenient work on the Internet, for more convenient work with music and graphics applications, etc.

Mouse. The main purpose of a mouse is to control the cursor. There are a great variety of mice, like keyboards, and they differ in the following characteristics:
- in appearance - two-button, three-button, with two buttons and a wheel, with three buttons and a wheel (the third button - one press instead of two);
- by connection type - wired, wireless;
- by size – small, medium, large;
- by the method of surface digitization - mechanical (ball), optical;
- by connection method to the motherboard – COM, PS/2, USB.

A printer. The printer is designed for printing text or graphic information. Printers are dot matrix, inkjet and laser. Printers differ in the method of image formation: matrix printers knock, inkjet printers drip, laser printers bake.

Scanner. The scanner is designed to digitize and transfer information from paper to a computer. This can be either text or any graphic information. Nowadays MFPs - multifunctional devices - are more relevant. These are devices that have both a printer and a scanner in one housing. Accordingly, such a device can also be used as a copier. Those. An MFP is a 3 in 1: printer, scanner, copier.

Modem. A modem is a device for receiving and transmitting data through the telephone network.

Uninterruptible power supply (UPS). If you have power outages, then you simply need a UPS - it maintains the supply of electricity to the computer for some time after the power is turned off. During this time, you may well have time to save the data and turn off the computer correctly.

Acoustic speakers, headphones. Here, I think, everything is clear.

Webcam. This miracle of technology allows you to make a video phone out of a computer, i.e. With the help of a webcam you can see and hear each other, while being on different continents. Due to its size and low cost, a webcam is a very convenient device for creating various types of video conferences, and it can also be used for organizing video surveillance.

Flash drive. Finally, we have reached the time when we don’t have to carry a whole bunch of floppy disks or disks with us, but can just take one small but remote flash drive!
A flash drive is a device for storing information. Its volume can reach up to 64GB!

Now you know what a computer consists of and what other devices can be connected to it.
