How to fix the location of icons on the desktop. Quick Launch Toolbar

One way or another, the question arises of how the badge will be attached to clothing. By and large, the type of fastening depends on several parameters of the badge itself: size (its weight depends on this), shape, purpose (how it will be used), etc.

The most popular mount currently is the collet needle, but it is usually called a “butterfly collet.” Although... over the years of working with badges, we have heard all sorts of names - “nail with a barbell”, “needle with a head”, and even “nail with a cap”!!! This type of mount is included by default in the base price of the badge.

Sometimes, instead of a collet fastening, we offer a jewelry clasp (De Luxe). A badge with such a fastener is pressed more tightly to the fabric.

On badges that are elongated or have an irregular shape, we recommend using 2 needles with a collet - this method secures the badge firmly and prevents it from rotating or tilting. An example would be deputy badges - the fastening here could be a double collet, or it could be a safety pin.

If we talk about badges with a safety pin, then you need to keep in mind that there are several types of safety pins: a simple safety pin and, for example, a pin (clasp) for a brooch. This pin has an additional needle lock.

A simple safety pin.

For ease of use and organizing quick express access to your favorite site, you can pin the Odnoklassniki icon to the taskbar (PZ).

In this article I will tell you how to add a shortcut to the social network ok.ru on a PZ.

How to install the Odnoklassniki shortcut on the taskbar

To install a shortcut (icon) of Odnoklassniki on the taskbar you need:

  1. Create a copy of the browser shortcut you use on your desktop.
  2. Open the properties of the new shortcut and at the end of the “Object” field add a link to Odnoklassniki: http://ok.ru
It should look something like this:
    “C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe” http://ok.ru
  3. If you click on this shortcut, you will immediately be taken to the Odnoklassniki website. Half the battle is done. All that remains is to change the picture and display the shortcut on the taskbar.
  4. Let's start with the icon. Download the archive of Odnoklassniki icons - ok-icons. Preferably on your desktop so that everything is at hand. And immediately unpack it.
  5. You need to open the browser shortcut properties again. And click the “Change icon” button. A window will open with many icons, but Odnoklassniki will naturally not be among them. Therefore, you need to click on “Browse” and select one of the pictures that you saved to your desktop. Install it and save the changes.
  6. The final touch is to pin the Odnoklassniki shortcut to the taskbar. Just press and hold the browser shortcut with the left mouse button and drag it to the taskbar.

That's all, in this simple way you can make express access to the Odnoklassniki website from the quick launch panel.

The appearance of the taskbar in Windows 7 is different from the taskbar in Windows XP. In Windows 7 it has an elegant, translucent appearance.

However, there is no separate Quick Launch panel in Windows 7, as in Windows XP. Program shortcuts are placed directly on the taskbar, along with the tabs of open programs. And placing a shortcut to the programs you use every day on the taskbar is not difficult.

Left-click on the icon of the desired program on the desktop, and without releasing the mouse button, drag the icon down to the taskbar (shown by the red arrow). Then you release it, and the shortcut will remain on the taskbar, becoming available at any time.

When the shortcut on the taskbar becomes unnecessary, click on it, without releasing the left mouse button, drag the shortcut up and “throw” it onto the desktop. The shortcut will immediately disappear from the taskbar.

Practice - you may not succeed the first time. Sometimes the taskbar disappears if the settings are set to: Automatically hide the taskbar. By the way, you can customize the taskbar yourself as you like. I'll tell you how to do this.

Right-click on the Start button. A context menu will open in which you select the Properties link.

The Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window opens. If you want the taskbar (the strip at the bottom of the screen) to be visible all the time and not disappear anywhere, then check the box next to Pin the taskbar, and uncheck the box next to Automatically hide the taskbar.

If you want the taskbar to appear only when you move the cursor to the bottom edge of the screen (desktop), then vice versa - uncheck the "Pin the taskbar" box, and check the "Automatically hide the taskbar" box. The rest of the taskbar settings are less important, so I won’t dwell on them.

How to Install Quick Launch Bar in Windows XP

You say: I don’t have such a panel! This means it is not activated.

In order to activate the Quick Launch toolbar, anywhere on the taskbar (but right-click). The taskbar context menu will open. Select Properties.

The Taskbar Properties window opens.

Here, check the box next to Show Quick Launch Toolbar. If the checkbox is not checked, then your panel is disabled.

check mark opposite Display the taskbar on top of other windows.

And I also check the box next to Automatically hide the taskbar. If you don’t put it, then it will stick out at the bottom of the screen all the time. I think it’s more convenient when she hides, you just need to get used to it.

The remaining points of this tab are not so important and are understandable without explanation. If you uncheck the box next to Show clock, then your clock will disappear, etc.

Just remember to activate all the checkboxes that you have set, click the Apply button, and then OK.

How to add a shortcut (icon) to the Quick Launch bar in Windows XP

To add an icon to the Quick Launch bar, hover the cursor over the desired icon on the desktop, left-click and drag the icon to the taskbar. When a vertical black line appears, release the button and the icon appears on the panel.

If you decide to move the icons relative to each other, you also grab the icon with your cursor and drag along the Quick Launch bar, and the vertical bar will move and show where the icon will end up if you release the mouse button. This way you can place the icons in the order you like.

Of course, you may like the convenience that the Quick Launch panel provides and you will start dragging icons there in an unlimited number. As a result, icons can fill the entire taskbar, which is no good!

But there is a way out of this situation! You can hide some icons. To do this, move the cursor over the separator (circled in red pencil in Fig. 5). The cursor will turn into arrows pointing left and right. At this moment, press the left mouse button and drag the separator to the left. As you move the separator, the icons will begin to disappear. I usually leave 4-5 icons visible.

You don’t have to worry about hidden icons - they won’t go anywhere! Just click on the arrow (circled in red pencil in Fig. 6) and all hidden icons will appear before your eyes. Click any icon and the program will launch!

What are shortcuts for? The main purpose of shortcuts is to make it easier to access certain files and programs. For example, in partition hard drive C there is a “documents” folder, in it there is another folder called “Home”, in the “work” folder there is a “Photos” folder, this folder contains frequently used photographs. To get to these photos you have to go through this path every time. All this takes a lot of time, and besides, you can get confused or simply forget, such a long way. To save time, you can make a shortcut for the Photos folder and place it on your desktop, Start menu, or Quick Access toolbar. By launching this shortcut, the user opens the “Photos” folder and it takes only two seconds.

That's what shortcuts are for. Now let's look at how to create them.

So, how to install a shortcut on your desktop? To begin with, it is worth noting that shortcuts can be created for any files (in this case, when you launch a shortcut, the program starts, by default this type of file, for example, for a video file, the player will open), folders (directories) and shortcuts (yes, you can create shortcuts for shortcuts ).

To create a shortcut in Windows XP, you need to right-click on the file (shortcut or folder) of interest and select “Create shortcut” in the menu that appears. The shortcut created this way is placed in the same folder, but you can move it anywhere and it will work (if you move the file referenced by the shortcut to another location, the shortcut will not work).

In order not to have to drag a shortcut to the desktop, you can use the “send” function; to do this, you need to right-click on the file (shortcut or folder) and select “send” and “Desktop (create shortcut)” in the menu that appears.

You can send a shortcut for a particular program to the Start menu, or rather the left part of it, which opens immediately, as follows - right-click on the file that launches the program or on the shortcut and select “Pin to Start Menu” .

You can also add a shortcut to the “All Programs” menu by right-clicking on the “Start” button and selecting “Open a common menu for all”. In the folder that opens, you need to open the “Programs” directory and copy the desired shortcut into it.

For example, let's display a Word shortcut on the desktop.

Press the Start button 1. Then move the cursor (without clicking the mouse buttons) over the All Programs 2 menu. A list of programs installed on your computer opens. Follow the arrow to this list and hover over the folder you need - Microsoft Office 3.

A list of programs included in Microsoft Office will open. Move the cursor to the program we need:
Microsoft Office Word 2003 4

Now, hovering the cursor over Microsoft Office Word 2003, press the right mouse button.

A context menu will open in front of you.

Releasing the right mouse button, move the cursor to the Send 5 item, a submenu will open on the right, in which you select Desktop ( create shortcut) 6 and press the left mouse button.

That's it, now you can admire the program shortcut that has appeared on your desktop and launch Microsoft Office Word using it.

If you do not find the program you need in the Windows Main Menu

But sometimes you cannot find the desired program in the main menu (someone accidentally or deliberately deleted the shortcut). Don't despair, the matter can be fixed. If the program is on the computer, then you need to find the program launching file and display a shortcut from it on the desktop.

For the Word text editor, the path will be like this. Using Windows Explorer or the Total Commander file manager, find the Program Files folder, in it - the Microsoft Office folder, then
open the OFFICE11 folder and find the WINWORD.exe file in it

On the found file, right-click to open the context menu, and then act
already proven method. Proceed the same way with any other program.
Find its folder in Program Files, then find the file that launches the program in the folder
(most often it has the extension .exe, but there are others). If you don’t immediately understand which file is launching, double-click it and try to launch it. If the program starts, then everything is correct, this is the main file. Display the shortcut from it on the desktop using the method
shown above.

Note: You cannot delete anything in the Program Files folder using the Delete button. Otherwise the program
which is located in this folder will stop working!

How to rename a desktop icon

If you don't like the name assigned to the shortcut by the Windows program, for example, Shortcut for Word, then you can change it.

To do this, hover the cursor over the shortcut (icon), right-click to open the context menu and select Rename. Immediately the signature text under the label will be highlighted and you can remove the words “Shortcut for”, or completely rename the shortcut. After this, be sure to press the Enter key - only then will your name be saved.

Please note that such actions (rename, delete) can be performed only with shortcuts(they have a small black arrow in the lower left corner of the label). Files
programs located in their own folders in Program Files cannot be renamed! Otherwise they will stop working. You can only display shortcuts from them, and do what you want with the shortcuts!

How to display a website shortcut on your desktop

A site visitor asked me a question: " How to display a website shortcut on your desktop?". At first I thought that this made no sense, because links can be placed in Favorites. But after testing this option, I was convinced that this method of opening a site has a right to exist. After clicking on the shortcut, the web browser starts, and at the same time the site opens (two actions at the same time) How to create a shortcut on your desktop to your favorite site that you open every day? Since Internet Explorer is installed with Windows on any computer, let's create a shortcut using it.

So, open Internet Explorer and open the desired site in it. Now in the File menu move the cursor to the Send link, then to the right and click the link Shortcut to desktop. That's it, shortcut ( icon) is already on the desktop. You can check!
