Method No. 1: View the password in Windows network settings

1.Windows 7, 8

The simplest and quick way to find out the password for your Wi-Fi network is to look at the properties active network, that is, the one through which you access the Internet. To do this, you need to go to the network control center on your laptop (or other device that is already configured with a Wi-Fi network) and shared access.

2.Windows 10

In Windows 10, an icon indicating a successful (not successful) connection to the Wi-Fi network is also displayed next to the clock. Click on it, and in the pop-up window open the link “ network parameters "(as in Fig. 6).

Then select your adapter that is responsible for the wireless connection and go to its “status" (just right-click on it and select this option in the pop-up menu, see Fig. 8).

Method number 2: get the password in the Wi-Fi settings of Roturea

If in Windows you could not find out the password for the Wi-Fi network (or you need to change the password), then you can do this in the router settings. It’s a little more difficult to give recommendations here, since there are dozens of router models and there are some nuances everywhere...

Whatever router you have, you need to first go into its settings.

The first nuance is that the address for entering the settings can be different: somewhere http://192.168.1.1/, and somewhere http://192.168.10.1/, etc.

The easiest option is to also look in the connection properties. To do this, go to the Network and Sharing Center (the article above describes how to do this). Let's go to the properties of our wireless connection through which we access the Internet.

2. How to find out or change the password on the router

TP-LINK

In TP-LINK you need to open the Wireless section, then the Wireless Security tab, and opposite PSK Password there will be the required network key (as in Fig. 14). Whatever router you have, in general, you should go to a section that looks something like this: WLAN settings or WLAN settings (WLAN means wireless network settings). Then replace or look at the key, most often the name of this line is something like: Network key, pass, passwowd, Wi-Fi password, etc.

A simple tip for the future: get a notepad or notebook and write down some important passwords and access keys to some services. It’s also a good idea to write down phone numbers that are important to you. The paper will be relevant for a long time ( from personal experience : when the phone suddenly went off, I was left “without hands” - even work “stopped…”)!

This method is suitable for your personal router or any other that you have access to physical access. Most modern routers have a unique default network name and password. They are usually printed on a label with serial number and other service information or on a special sticker.

All you have to do is get to the router and carefully examine its back side. If there is nothing there, try looking at the instructions or Googling the router model. You'll probably find what you're looking for.

2. Find out the password from Windows network settings

If you are (or have ever been) connected to the network through Windows, then it will kindly tell you forgotten password. Depending on version Windows titles The menu items may differ, but the meaning is approximately the same.

You need to go to the “Network and Sharing Center” and get to the list of wireless networks. Then open the properties of the desired network and look at the password in the “Network security key” field, not forgetting to check the “Display entered characters” checkbox.

With Mac it's exactly the same. OS X stores the password for every network you've ever connected to, and of course you can see it.

This is done in the “Keychain”, where all your passwords are stored. We launch it through Spotlight or from the “Programs” folder and select the “System” section in the sidebar on the left. 4. Find the password in the router’s web interface

If you have access to the web interface, you can view the router password there. To do this, go to the address 192.168.0.1 (or 192.168.1.1) in your browser and enter your username and password. The menu structure is different for each manufacturer, but the point is to find the section Wireless Network, in which there is a Security item with protection options. It contains our key, that is, the wireless network password.

The menu we need looks something like this. The password is hidden by default, and to display it you need to click on the Display password button or something like that.

5. Reset your password and set a new one

Nothing can stand against brute force. If the password cannot be obtained, then you need to hack it, that is, reset it. This method is only suitable if you need a password for your home router, but it will work on absolutely any router, since each of them has physical button reset. The only negative is if your provider uses specific settings connection, you will have to configure it again.

  • IP address: 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1 ;

You can find the IP address using the command function Windows strings. Launch it through the "System" section of the "Start" menu or enter the command cmd by pressing Win+R. In the line on the black screen, enter ipconfig and click on Enter. The address will be displayed in the "Default Gateway" field.

  • Tp-Link: expand Wireless and sub-item Wireless Security, see the Password field.
  • Tenda: open the Wireless settings section and the Wireless Security folder, line

  • ZyXEL: in the lower block, switch to the Wi-Fi subsection using the picture of wireless networks, the line “Network key”.
  • Asus: in the right block “System Status”, line “WPA Key”.

Even if you forgot your personal Wi-Fi password, you can easily find it in the router’s system parameters. You will need to run the panel as an administrator - but if you ever changed the standard combination admin login/admin and forgot set values, then you won’t be able to launch the settings. Then all that remains is to completely reset the router parameters and configure it again in order to connect from a PC.

Through the program

The WirelessKeyView application will be able to understand what access code is programmed into your router. It doesn’t know how to crack a Wi-Fi password, but it will show login combinations from any networks to which the computer was once connected - and not those available on this moment. There is no need to install the program; just run the file received from the developer’s website.

Please note that many antivirus programs consider WirelessKeyView to be a Trojan or a virus due to gaining access to system data. However, the utility is not intended for unauthorized actions.

Launch the program, it will display a list of saved networks. Find the one you need by name in the Network Name column; the code in symbolic form is given in the Key (Ascii) column.

To copy the key, press the F8 key or click on the desired line, a pop-up menu will appear. From it you can save either one code or all values.

Protecting your connection

Finding a forgotten password – easy task. Therefore, always protect your connection with a long and complex code, not forgetting to write it down on paper. Otherwise, neighbors will easily understand how to connect to someone else's Wi-Fi, and will use the Internet at your expense. The connection code must consist of numbers and latin characters, typed in upper and lower case. Then the neighbor’s computer will not join yours without permission - choosing such a combination will take too much time.
